Setting Sail - Not So Suprising News
Characters: Aikuen, William, Robin, Chris, Syla, Ella, Venei
Location: At Sea (we're on a ship we're 'at sea' a lot)
Golden Pike: Galley
Its another hot day at sea, on the Golden pike. The wind is with them as it cuts through the waves. So. Its time for munchies. Or drinkies. Depends on what's going on. And Aik is doing the latter. He sits at one of the booths. With a mug of 'not-water' in front of him. The table covered in old parchments. But the otter is not looking at them. He just stares in front of him. Seeming. Confused
William takes a swig from a flask as he walks up to look over the otter's shoulder. "You alright?" he asks taking another shorter drink from the flask.
Aikuen blinks a bit before looking over to the rat. Almost like is he is surprised to see him, "Oh... Hey there son..." he smiles a bit before looking at the chair once more, "Im... Im alright. I just found out some... VERY. Interesting news..." he chuckles a bit and runs a paw over the rim of his mug.
"About th port?" the rat asks. That is where they were going and the otter is or was looking at the charts it's not a reasonable guess.
Aikuen shakes his head with a smile, "Port? Oh... No. Not about that." if one was closer to look at the papers. It can be seen written in some other language with pictures of weapons and amulets. Aik gulps a bit and says, "Its about... Our Family..."
"What about it? I thought Mum was feeling better?" the rat says wondering what kind of news the otter could be talking about.
Aikuen hums and nods, "Well. She is... But. She isnt...Anymore..." he takes a little sip of the good stuff before sighing, "But she wasn't sick... Like. From allergies. Or anything on the island..." he gulps.
"What are you trying t say?" the rat asks a slightly annoyed as the otter isn't making much sense. "Is she sick or isn't she?
Aikuen chuckles a little bit, "Fira is... Sick. But in a good way... William..." he smiles, "Your going to be a big brother... Again... Fira is pregnant. We are having more little otters..." he chuckles awkwardly.
William had the misfortune of having just taken a drink from his flask when Aik started talking again. The rat chokes on his drink momentarily and coughs a little. "... really? You trying t form an army or somethin'?" he ask jokingly. "Not another pair of little otters this time I hope?" he asks next. The twins are great but a pawful another set would be even more trouble.
Aikuen laughs with the rat and smiles, "An army of otters? Probably." he laughs, "And... We don't know. I only just found out... Well. This morning." He knows that lump on her stomach just didnt come out of know where, "Its still really early to tell... And... I am STILL surprised."
William nods a little. "You gonna wait t tell th twins or ya think they're old enough to be let in on it ahead of time?"
Aikuen hums a bit as he thinks about it, "We... Well. Im not going to tell them just yet... Wait until Fira is... A little further along in the pregnancy... Then i will tell them... Everything... Like. Where otter pups come from for example." he hrms. Not going to be a terribly fun conversation.
"Yeah .... Hmmm maybe you can get Fira t do that. Th actually talking to em about stuff part. Or have her help you with it," the rat suggests. He wouldn't know how versed or not the otter is at such things he'd already been taught such things before he'd joined up with Aik.
Aikuen nods a bit, "Yeah... That sounds better... I've already given the... talk. To my first daughter. But its less awkward when... There is another girl in the room explaining it." he thinks about it for a second, "Yeah... That will be better."
William shrugs, "Just figured it worked that way. My m- ..... uh ..... I just thought that was th usual way it was done uh havin' mothers tell daughters. Or if not a mother then female relative would .... Didn't think it would be any different for otters." Will takes another long drink from his flask as he kinda opened his mouth a little too wide there he thinks.
Aikuen thinks he did too. But he knows what he means, "Its not. But you have to remember. Its the same basic... talk. Just explained differently for boys and girls." he hums, "My first daughter didnt have a mum to tell her. So i did." he snorts, "She took it alright." He explained it enough.
William nods a little as he drinks from his flask. He could try and explain that not all fathers are like Aikuen but he wont. The rat searches his brain for something, a not too unrelated a topic, to switch to as the current topic isn't much to his liking. "... sooo you think up any names for th newest member of th family yet?" he asks lowering the flask from his mouth.
Aikuen umms and shakes his head as he looks over some of the medallions on the table, "...Ummm. Not really. I just found out this morning like i said." he chuckles, "But... I kinda was thinking about it if it was a boy... I would name after my old Best friend... And if it is a girl..." he shrugs as he really hasn't thought of anything if it was a girl. As he wants a another son.
"And what name is that?" Will asks still half hoping any additional otters are female unless they're marrying into the family which wont be for a very long time. "Probably should pick some of each since ya never can tell what it'll be til it gets here."
Aikuen smiles a bit and says, "Gillium. Or. Gilly for short. He was the brother of Mehra." he hums, "And aye. I plan to think of many more. Both male and female. Just in case we have more... Heh... More than just one again... What a thought..." he snorts.
William says, "I'm sure Chris and the girls would be very happy if it is a boy. Don't know if he'd be happy knowing what sort of things little girls do to little brothers though."
Aikuen laughs, "If he is. Probably not. Though..." he gulps, "If it is a boy... He will be better. As he is an otter. And can take a little more that the twins can toss at him... Though if its a another girl. The twins are just going to have a BALL. And Chris will probably run away or something." he laughs.
William nods, "Yeah wouldn't want t drive Chris away. But if he's lucky th twins'll be too busy helping with the babe to bother him as much."
Aikuen hums and nods, "I know Venei will be alright with it. Im not sure about Ella... She is... Too much like me when i was younger" he hums, "We will have to see..." One thing that he was worrying about it when he found out, "And by the time... The new otter is older to be alone... Chris will be old enough to have his own kids..." he snorts.
William shrugs, "Well don't worry there may be more stoats or something by then for all you know." The rat takes another drink before heading for the ladder.
Aikuen nods, "Aye. That be true." he grins, "We might need to clean the rest of the Moledeeps rooms for all these new little ones... Its going to be Crazy..." he laughs, "And we are going to need more food for everyone..." he hums. Then waves at the rat gets up, "Oh... Okay. Good bye..." he still needs someone to talk too... Oh well.
"We'll need t clean up anyway once we get back," Will calls down. They'll be gone a while still and the food back at Moledeep is unlikely to keep that whole time. "Wonder if th Abbey's making use of it any. I said they could but with their big red stone place they may not have any need for it."
Aikuen smiles at he hears his son again. YAY!, "That's true. But i mean. Like Clean... Really Clean..." he snorts, "Aye maybe. It is a good place to hide... Well. It used to be..." he grins a bit, "But. We need more seeds. I have to get more... Might even have to extend the field..." he laughs.
Golden Pike: Deck
There are three stoats on the deck. Each of them has a mug. Robin, who is sitting against a railing near the middle of the ship, has a mug of ale. Syla, sitting next, and against Robin, has a mug of ale too. And then there's Christopher! Who is on Robin's OTHER side. He has a mug of rum! Seems like all the stoats have taken to 'not-water'. Syla laughs a bit at something Robin does, while Chris just doesn't pay attention to the others.
William comes up on deck having left Aik down in the galley. A flask of something griped in one paw hinders his climb up a bit but he's not too bothered by it to put it else where. He waves the flask at the stoats in greeting, "Hey there, how are th stoats t'day?"
Robin hums and smiles, giving Syla a squeeze as he looks to Will. "Hey Will!" he smiles. "Hey William..." Syla greets as well. Chris just smiles and waves. "I dunno. How are we, Sy?" he asks, looking to the stoat next to him with a nod. "We're doing really good." she chuckles. "What about you, Will?" Rob asks.
William shrugs, "I'm alroight. Any of you talk t th captain lately?" he asks wondering if he's the first Aik had told of the good news.
The three stoats shake their head. "Not today, no." Robin tilts his head. "Why? Something wrong?" he asks with a hum.
William shakes his head, "Nah, nothin's wrong. I just wondered if he'd told anyone else th news yet or not."
The three stoats tilt their head a little bit. "What news?" Syla asks with a tilt of her head and a hum.
William takes a swig from the flask in his paw. He's been doing that a lot today. "Eh it's nothin really. Fira's been feeling off for a while is all," he says drawing it out to see if they'll catch on or not.
Robin nods slowly. "Yeah. We know about that...and I think I know why..." he nods. "But I'm not entirely sure." he smiles a little bit.
William quirks a brow at the stoat, "Do you? Why then do ya think she's been sick?" he hmms wondering if it were really that obvious anymore. The idea had crossed his own mind earlier before Aik had told him.
Robin hums a little bit and shrugs. "Maybe...uh...is she pregnant?" he asks with a tilt of his head. "I know the symptoms of pregnancy...so...maybe she's pregnant...am I right?" He asks.
William grins, "Yep. Hopefully it'll just be one this time around. Aik wants a boy for some reason. Maybe he's been feeling sorry for you Chris. We're not t mention it to th twins yet. He an Fira'll tell em later when it's more noticeable and they'll explain stuff to em."
Robin oohs and smiles with a laugh. "Really! That's wonderful!" there is a long glance between Syla and Robin at each other, both smiling before looking back to Will. "You're gonna have a brother or sister..." Chris smiles then hums. "I hope its a boy..." he nods.
William gives the littlest stoat an annoyed look at his comment. Why do beast keep saying that?! True given some time to adjust Will wouldn't mind a little brother if that is what it turns out to be once the new otter gets here but he's not really wanting one all that much like the others are.
Robin hums and looks towards them with a chuckle. "Mm...I don't think it matters what they have." he nods with a laugh. Chris blinks and turns his head to Rob quickly with a frown. "They should have a boy..." he nods. The twins are enough for him
William nods a little, "I can see your point Chris but then the girls will do the same things they do to you to the little baby. Wouldn't that be awful?"
The older stoats chuckle at Chris and smile at the younger stoat's reaction to Will. "No...I want a boy." he nods.
William sighs, "Fine. Poor little otter doomed to ottery otterness." He may need to hid the hotroot when they get back home or start his own private stash. So many otters!
Robin hums a little bit and chuckles. "Its okay Chris. Syla and I want a girl..." Robin smirks, patting the little stoat on the shoulder. Both older stoats smirk while Chris blinks. "Uh...well...that's okay...she'd be a stoat...stoats are good" he smiles weakly...no more girls!
William studies the stoats a moment or two. "Are you dreaming or trying to say something?" he asks half jokingly having noticed how close the two stoats had become.
Before they can answer, Chris just stands up and leaves, taking his rum with him. The stoats laugh and hum. "Oh, just dreaming." he nods. "And we wanted to embarrass Chris!" Syla adds with a laugh.
And here coooooooooooooooomes OTTERS! A whole mess of them. Well. All of them Really. Aik and Fi, Vee and Elz. All come up from the lower decks. In order of height. With Vee in the front and Aik in the back. Aik smiles and holds Fi's stomach before kissing. She smiles warmly before heading off to the stern deck, with kids in tow. Aik smiles at them before heading toward the stoats and rat thing, "Hey guys. Son" He smiles before the rat head off again. But Aik just shrugs it off.
Robin looks up and smiles. "Hey Aik! Fi! Ella, Venei!" He smiles before looking to the two older otters. "Congratulations!" Both him and Syla chime out together with a nod.
Aikuen blinks a bit, as he is confused. Then ohs. Rat. Duh. He grins and says, "Awww. Thanks mate. Really Surprised me... Rolled over... and... There it was..." he snorts then grins, "Im really excited!"
Syla stands up to go give Fira a hug! Its a woman thing...she then sits back down and smirks. "Yeah...I'm sure!" she chuckles. Robin hums a bit. "Chris wants you two to have a boy...we told him...that we..." he motions to him and Syla. "Wanted to have a girl in the future...he left." he laughs.
Aikuen chuckles as Fira kinda turns red at the hug. Its odd. Aik then looks back at the stoats, "I want to have a boy... We both want to have a boy really..." He then blinks a bit as he looks at the pair. Going to raise an eyebrow, "You two eh? Heh. I bet Chris left..." he grins.
Robin laughs and nods, giving Syla a squeeze with a smile. "Yep! He did he did..." he nods before kissing Syla quickly, hoping the otters would leave next...nope, still here...oh well, was worth a shot. "So! What brings the four of you out our way?!"
Aik needs more than subtle hints to get him to move. Like. Notes. Or hand motions. He just blinks at them, shruging it as he bring Fi a little closer, "I needed to check sun position. Make sure we are on course mates... And you were here. And Viola!" what more do you need! )
Robin chuckles and nods. "Ah, I see!" he smiles as the two sit there on the deck together with a grin. "But why did you need to bring the twins!? I mean...the whales are gone...we're here...and, oh my word!" he points to a piece of rope that has two dangling objects! Its right at the perfect height for the twins to get. "What are those!" Robin points!
Aikuen laughs at the stoats. Going over to the rope and following it. Up and around. He then hums as he pulls on it, "Watch above you! HERE IT COMES" he grins... then... NOTHING happens. Aik snorts as he says, "This is a sail line. And the sails are already in bloom." he pulls on it somewhere it just twangs there.
The two stoats blink. "We weren't talking to you! And its the rope next to it..." he points. There are two rather large things tied onto a rope. And since Aik is close enough, he'll be able to see two dolls hanging by their left arm. They are both made out to be otter dolls! So if Aik can see...maybe he can try to get the twins to 'rescue' them.
Aikuen blinks and bit as he tosses the weighted rope back onto the deck. He then looks to the other thing. Now thats rather odd. He looks at it a bit before ohing, "Oh i see..." he winks. Now why they didn't just say something in the first place. He doesn't know. Not like the twins are paying attention anyway. The otter then steps away from the hangers back to Fi, as he grins, "E..V!" he whistles. And they both turn around. As Aik looks to the stoat. Care to try that again.
Robin points at the two dolls and hums, looking almost scared. "Oh my! What are those things on the rope!" he says louder... "I think someone should go over and rescue them!" he says. Syla just grips Robin's free arm and blinks. "Oh my! I think they're going to fall!"
The twins blinks a bit and look at the stoats. Then at the dolls. They are not kids much so anymore. But hey. Its fun. And Free toys! They giggle and scream. Before yelling, "We will save them! NEVER FEAR!" as Venei is the first one to run up to the dolls and says, "Okay. Vee... Let me stand on your back..." Ella nods as he crawls on her arms and legs under the dolls. Venei then crawls on her and reaches up. Pulling the dolls. But they is stuck.
The stoats grin and pull on a piece of string that they had that was connected to the dolls, untying them from the rope now! "Oh! You've saved them! I suppose you'll have to find them a home now too!" Robin nods with a grin.
Venei blinks as she was thinking she might need a knife to free them. Then suddenly they ARE free. She grins and yips as she holds both of them in her arms, "YAY! We did!" she then looks at the stoats, before down at Ella. Ella giggles lightly before shoving off her sister to claim one of the dolls that she rips from her. Venei is okay with it. She wanted the other one anyway.
Robin grins! Both stoats stand and go over. "So! What are you going to name them?" Syla asks with a smile. Those dolls are VERY well made. Seems like either Robin or Syla have a talent for doll making.
Ella hums as she plops on the deck to look the doll over, "I don't know..." she just smiles at Doll before smiling warmly, "...Christopher..." she finally says. Venei gets back on her butt before looking at the left over doll and she smiles at it, "I... Don't know" Kinda stumped, "What do you think we... I should call her?"
Robin blinks! "Christopher?" he hums with a laugh. "Oh I'm sure Chris will be so happy." he smiles, laughing a little before shrugging. "You can call her whatever you like, Venei!" he smiles. Syla then yawns and hums. "We're going to head off for a nap!" the stoats nod. "See you later silly otters!" he smiles as they head off.
Ella kinda frowns at them for laughing. Before running off with little Chris. With Venei slowly behind her, "Wait Elz! We can play house!" she giggles before chasing after her. So. That leave Aik and Fi. All alone. Aik blinks and hums, "Well... That was easier than i thought..." he turns on Fira and presses her up against the railing. Fira just smirks at him.
