Setting Sail - Heading for Yet Another Island
Charcters: Fira, Aikuen, William, Terian
Location: Golden Pike
Golden Pike (at sea)
Too hot, too uncomfortable, too hot, again! Fira's found a shady bit up on the deck to sit around on, she had hoped for a breeze but it's not a cool one. Even the wind is too hot! Best to just stay still and hope it all passes by again soon.
It is too hot. Almost Crispy? Yep... That's how Aik is describing the weather. Crispy hot. He comes out of the cabins and has to shield his eyes from the sun. As he looks around a bit. Good golly miss molly its hot out. He carries with him a rag and canteen. To put it simply. He dashes some water from the canteen on the rag. Then places the rag on his head. Ahh... Air conditioning. He looks around a bit more before looking to Fira, "Hey" he nods toward her before tossing the rag at her, "Here. Catch. Put his on your noggin"
Terian is at the other side of the ship, looking somewhat dizzy as she makes her way forward. "Oh, h-hi Aikuen," then she looks to Fira, smiling nervously, but still looking.... sick. "Ummm... hi, ma'am, I don't think we've met. My name's Terian. I...." then her eyes widen as she moves forward to the railing, leaning over, and suddenly making a sickening sound. Seasickness, and the jill has it.
"When are we going t go away from th sun?" a voice grumbles from below deck.
Fira could have got a wet rag but that'd require effort! It's far too much effort to struggle onto her feet when she's that big and there's that much sun. So she's grateful for Aik doing it for her. Ahhh, rag. She drops it completely over her head "Thanks" good think it's got a few holes so she can see Terian arrive, introduce and throw up "...I hope that's not her job" Will's call goes unanswered, as per usual when she can't see someone who's talking.
Aikuen smiles at his wife before plopping down next to her. He would get closer. But its too hot as it is, "Hey Ter. Hows it?...." he hums a bit, "Well... I guess that explains that. You feeling alright?" he asks the ferret. His ears then perk to the sound at a Will, "You might as well get used to it mate. Have more weeks of this left to go... But fall is coming in. That's always a plus" Not like it would do any good.
Terian hangs on to the railing before looking back to the large otter and the captain of the ship, offering a weak smile. "Please forgive me ma'am," she says, "I've never been on a ship before. I'm uh, getting my sea legs, so I've been told." There's somethin in her paw as she walks weakly over to Aikuen, offering him the paper. "The map of the sea," she says, nodding to the paper. "I guess you'd wanna know what my talent is. I didn't think it'd come in use on a ship but, now that I think about it, it kinda does. I'm a Cartographer." Then he looks back to Fira. "My name's Terian ma'am, I'm new to the crew." She offers her paw to shake. "Nice to meet you."
William asks, "Is that like a mapmaker? Cause we have a map already."
Fira pushes the wet rag up so she can see a little better, after all it'd be difficult and rude to greet someone with a cloth over her head. She shakes the paw "Um, hey. Fira, wife to the big lug" a gesture with the head proves she means Aik "I'm guessing you don't go on ships a lot?" she sees Aik talking then and so at least she knows someone's there out of her sight, course she doesn't know it's Will yet.
At the lug comment. Aik starts to look all around him, "Where is he?" He then chuckles at his lame joke and looks back to Ter taking the paper, "Ooo. A cartographer eh? We don't have one of those." And at Will comments, he adds, "Aye. Mapmaker... We do have a map of the western shore. But not of the western sea... Thats where she will come in!" he grins and points at the island they were just yet, "Like this one eh?" he chuckles and smiles at Ter, "Good job. Aye. Keep makin up this map. That would be good!" as he hands back the map. He then nudges Fira. Then pointing at the stairs, "Its William. By the way." he mouths.
Terian looks to William curiously, or at least to the stairs where she hears the voice. Then she looks back to Aikuen as he says what he says, then she smiles somewhat brightly. "Aikuen, keep the map up here or in your quarters," she says. "I've got some good ways to tell the direction of where we're going but...." then she smiles as she looks back to Fira, nodding to the otter. "Good to meet you too Ms. Fira, finally! Aikuen and the crew have told me much about you, I've really been looking forward to meeting you." Then she looks to Aikuen. "William?"
Fira lazily snorts at Aik "Hiding over the side of the ship till you're gone and it's safe for him to come out again obviously" she nods to Ter "I used to know someone who collected maps, mostly rather sketchy ones though, drawn by pirates and stuff...Nice to meet you too. We seem to be gathering plenty of beasts along for the trip again!" Aik gets another glance and a slow nod "Ohhhh" she raises her voice "Stop hiding where I can't see you Will!"
"Tell her it's too hot," Will informs Aik, "And why is she up there in the hot anyway?" he asks sounding a little conserned and a bit less grumpy, "Couldn't that be bad for her?"
Aikuen winks at Fira, "Oooooohhhhh! Okay. Well. I just wanted to make sure." he winks again. Plopping a quick one under her ear. He then grins and leans back, "We tend to do that. We seem to draw more attention than we think!" he chuckles before looking over to Wills hidey hole. Then back at Fi, "He said its too hot" Back to the rat, "Its cooler up here anyway! At least its windy enough!" And he chuckles, "William. Is my son." he answers Terian look.
Terian looks somewhat confused for several minutes. "Your son?" she asks slowly looking towards the stairs again. "So, you adopted...." but before she can finish her sentence, she leans over the railing once more, making another sickening sound, a sign she hasn't gotten over her sea sickness yet.
William says, "Yes he's adopted."
Fira is also very pregnant right now, which is part of the reason she doesn't want to move. She grimaces again as Terian once more leans over the side "I thought it was supposed to be better on deck too" another glance to Aik "It's too hot everywhere, the breeze is all we've got" and that's too hot as well.
Aikuen looks away when the sick is started again. Think he would be used to it, "Eh. Im gonna have to look for some lemons. That will help with the seasickness there, Ter." he nods a bit and glances to Fira, "Well. You cant do this below deck" he pops open the canteen and dumps some on himself before a little more on Fira, "Ahhhh.... that feels soooo gooooood" he laughs. It works great with the breeze. Even if it is hot.
"What are you two doing up there?" Will asks half curious.
Terian leans slowly back up, panting lightly from the violent sickness she has before she leans against the railing, looking back to the otters, smiling weakly to them. "Sorry," she says, before looking to the stairs. "Nothing's wrong with being adopted. Aikuen here adopted me as his sister, so I guess I'm your aunt." The ferret laughs before looking to the otter curiously. "Right?"
William says, "About time. I've adopted this old otter here and a stoat who later adopted a weasel and now the otter's got around to joining in."
Fira closes her eyes against having water dumped on her but it does make her relax a little more and she sighs contently before picking up on the conversation again. A brow raises at Ter before she glances to Aik "You've got a new sister and didn't tell me? We're going to have to employ someone just to make us a family tree and then keep it up to date"
William says, "That'd be impossible with all Flicky's dibbuns."
Aikuen glances to Fira, "I... Never... got around to it?" he gives and 'oops' of a smile before looking to Ter, "Aye! You're my sister. We are just one crazy butt family!" he grins and then looking back at Fira. Reaching over and placing a paw on her belly. Looking for some kicking going on, "Hey. Its almost time to add another branch to that tree! Speaking of which." he now mouths "We haven't decided on a name yet." he nods a bit.
Terian smiles a bit as she slowly sits down, leaning against the railing now as she looks to the two wet otters and coughs lightly. "I could uh, use some water too Aikuen, if you have any left. Oh!" Then she smiles and holds up a sack that has, before now, been left to the side. "I made something for the ship to help map our course even better!"
Fira shakes her head "The more we travel the bigger the family gets. Given enough time we'll have half the beasts in the world get adopted into it" her brows go up at the mention of names "Ohh, yes...probably should think something up. Though I don't suppose we named the twins until they were born" she's curiously looking at Ter and her sack now too.
