Salamandastron: Dining Chamber

This is the dining chamber for the mountain of Salamandastron. It is a
veritable cavern, the necessity of feeding so many hares making the room
so big. Dominating the room is a huge banquet table made of solid oak.
Nobeast knows how such a venerable object came to be here, but its
presence is undeniable. Smaller tables skirt the outside of the room,
each sitting near a large torch burning brightly in its sconce. The chair
at the head of the table is different from the plain maple chairs that
occupy the rest of the room - it belongs to the Badger Lord. The massive
object is graced with a carving of the very mountain it is in, with the
sun setting over the sea.

Leon is in the dinning hall right now, at an area where some hares are not and finishing up some soup and buttered bread quietly. Today he has not done too much, and so he has been relaxing .
DoraRose comes rushing up and sits down breathlessly at her husband's side. "Pretend that we've been in conversation for the last hour." A group of hares, on the verge of being old enough to join the Patrol, enter the hall, spot the mice together, then make disappointed noises and leave, slumped.
Leon blinks and looks at her "Why? What happen anyways, everything ok?"
DoraRose relaxes and points at the last hare in the leaving group. "That group, right there, is following me around most of the time. They keep asking questions about Mossflower and Redwall and my axe and....and they're just bothering me like nothing else!!" she slumps and rests her forehead on the tabletop. "They really seem to like me because I'm a Warrior. It's driving me bonkers!"
Leon nods "Well maybe avoid them or tell Lord Ciocan...I bet he can tell them to stop, I mean they would listen to him or...I don't know, have to do some sort of extra chore or something" He chuckles and smiles "So have you been ok otherwise, and do you know how Zinnia is, I have not seen her as much lately"
DoraRose raises her head up off the table and smiles. "Oh, yeah, I've been pretty good, otherwise. There's this nice haremaid here, her name is Felicity, and she's an orphan. She's about 8 seasons old, I'd say, and has a little Dibbun sister whom I've been helping her with. It makes me not miss LIly and Caleb quite so much." She goes to hold his paw. "Zinnia seems alot better than she did on the way here. She's taking care of a little baby badger named Xander." She goes to wrap her other arm around him in a hug. "How've you been, love? You don't seem super stressed."
Leon says, "I heard about the badger dibbun, not meet him yet and I have not had a reason to be stressed. I even helped in the infirm a little bit, other than that I been making sure Zinnia's shoulder heals from that gull attack, is that when she found the dibbun?""
DoraRose nods. "I think so. I'm...pretty sure that's what she said." She goes to try and steal a bite of his buttered bread. "I bet the other Healers here were more than happy to have you helping." She's trying to be a sneak thief. The Dibbun is wearing off on her.
Leon nods, he doesn't mind her getting some bread, now if she did that to a hare it could be dangerous. "Maybe I will meet this Xander soon. I wonder what will happen though when we get ready to head home"
DoraRose has succeeded in stealing the bread! Yum. "Hopefully..." her smile fades as she realizes the implications of what he just said. "Oh, my. I hadn't even thought of that. When I met him he seemed to only trust Zinnia. I....I hadn't thought of that..."
Leon frowns, "That may or may not be a good thing. It's something to think on, he could come with us but we would need to explain to Benar why we have an extra guest....and I have no clue if he has family...the badger dibbun that is. Unless he is an orphan as I said I have not had a chance to meet him or ask, just that he was here"
"I seem to remember someone saying that his mommy is dead....oh!" Dora snaps her fingers. "I remember now! Zinnia saved him from the seagulls. She said that she's pretty sure his mother is dead. I don't know if she knows anything about his dad."
Leon nods "That's sad, he could be an orphan. Maybe she can find out some things since he trusts her, could be cause she is a badger or cause she was one that found him."
DoraRose nods sadly. "I think it might be best, if he seems really attached to her, to take him with us. /Hopefully/ we'll avoid all crazy birds and stuff this time...." Or they could drag an innocent Dibbun into an adventure. It's a 50/50 shot of success.
Leon frowns "I dislike birds, most are bad news and the only one I trust is that eagle Thunderwing and I think he is back in Mossflower right now. Lets hope we have no trouble or least very little when we head home"
DoraRose nods in agreement. "No trouble would be best, thankyouverymuch." She goes to steal more of his bread, if there's any left. "Where did you get your food, anyway? I'm starving."
Leon smiles , he has a little left and points to the table where some more is still and soup "They tend to have shifts at meals, makes sense and so there is some left still, I would get some now before more hares come in "
DoraRose steals a piece of bread, then stands and gets some food of her own. Actually, she gets a lot of food, at least a lot on mouse standards. Plopping back down at his side, she starts eating happily.
Leon arches an eyebrow "Did you miss breakfast or something?" He chuckles and gets himself some more bread and sits back down by Dorarose "The food here is good and they do have some things here the abbey does not, not even sure ever would as lot more sea food type things here"
DoraRose wrinkles her nose. "I ate breakfast, but I forgot to eat after I did my training. And I'm not appreciating all this seafood stuff....what is this even?" She digs a scallop out of her soup. She actually got 2 soups, and now she's regretting trying something new.
Leon shrugs "I am not sure, maybe ask someone, but someone you trust. I like some of the food that's different and some I don't"
DoraRose sets the scallop on the table and pokes it with her spoon. "Some things I don't think should ever be eaten...." she digs into her other soup, which is the same as what her husband had been eating when she came in here. "It looks /disgusting/...."
Leon nods "Some things do...they do have veggie soup at least, lots of carrots and potatoes in it"
DoraRose holds up her carrot-filled spoon. "I thought it'd be best to get something that I know I like aswell as something new. I'm thinking I'll pick out all the....thingies," she gestures in mild horror at the scallop on the table, "and then eat the rest of the soup."
Leon nods, "It is nice to be here, I may even take a walk to that village see what it is like. Could be a change of scenery maybe, maybe we can go together even"
DoraRose smiles and goes to rest her paw on his arm. "That would be marvelous, love. I would enjoy that ever so much. Maybe next week?"
Leon nods "Sounds good. On a day when the weather is not too bad and maybe Zinnia and Xander can come too, if not that's ok just me and you is ok and we can have a couple hares join us if that's needed as well love"
