Otters and Rats
Characters: Amethyst, William, Venei, Aikuen
Location: Moledeep
Moledeep: Garden Burrow
Amethyst sits a the table in the garden burrow. Her sewing kit and lute lay abandoned in a near by rocking chair as the maid labors over something. One of her paws lies flat against a piece of paper on the table in front of her, claws spread wide, while the other grips a piece of charcoal awkwardly slowly making marks on the paper between each claw of her other paw.
William comes in from the hall and peeks over Amy's should at what she's doing. "That's really good," he says sitting down beside her.
Once she finishes making marks on the paper Amy lifts her littlest claw off the paper and carefully switches it with her thumb claw to move her paw over and continue making marks so they line up with the ones she's already made. When the marks she's making between each claw are done for the second time she removes her guide paw off the paper and scoots it over to Will being careful to only touch the edges of the paper when she does so.
William looks over the paper and grins widely before leaning over to give Amy a kiss.
The is a light pitter patter of paws entering the room and then stopping. Just behind a chair. Venei stifles a giggles as she 'sneaks' on the rats. Trying to remain unseen as much as she can. But she cant at the last part and she 'ews' loudly.
Amethyst inches nearer in her chair enjoying the kiss and ignoring any comments as it's only a little otter so far. All too soon it ends. She tucks her head between Will's chin and shoulder or at least she tries too but their chairs get in the way a little
William moves closer to Amy as she tries to get closer herself and he wraps an arm around her. He can't see his sister from this angle and so long as she stays quiet he doubts he'll have to worry too much about her.
Venei sticks her tongue out at them. What's with beasts and kissing! Mum and dad. Unky Kenter and Aunty Garny. Now Will-Will and Ama? Blah! Sounds gross to her. She frown slightly before she 'sneaks' around the room again. She has more important things to contend with. Like. Pretend foes. Like some of the ones in some stories Aik has told her.
Amethyst sighs and snuggles closer to Will hoping the little otter is behaving herself so Will wont have to move anytime soon.
Venei grrs quietly and she stalks around the chairs, "I is da mighties Vee Tazan. Hunters... of beasties..." she makes a mean face before laying down on the ground and scoots around the floor. Her rudder straight up in the air like a mast. She scoots around the floor in a zig zag pattern, not really having a direction to go. And not really caring.
Amethyst smiles hearing Venei's declaration. 'hunter of beasts'? It must be an otter thing as she's heard Ella say similar things of herself when playing.
Venei grrs to herself, hopping around a few times, 'trapping' the invisible foe beast underneath her paws. She giggles quietly. Just happy with her little game.
Aikuen is heard from the hall, "Venei?! Where are you? You silly beast. You know you aren't supposed to be running away from us? Venei?" he hrms. Venei's ears go back and she runs behind a chair. Aik comes into the garden burrow, "Oh... Heh. Sorry to disturb you two. Have you seen a rudderkin around here?" he asks leaning against the doorway.
Amethyst asks, "Seen? No. Heard? Yes. Other than a minor interruption, which was easily over looked, she's been very good."
William smirks and points at the chair Venei's hidding behind, "She's over there. And like Amy said. She hasn't been getting into trouble. She's just been playing by herself, hunting invisible foebeasts."
Aikuen nods and looks over the chair, slowly making his way toward it, "Foebeast? Glad that she is not getting into trouble. But she needs to stop running away from us..." he sighs, and sits on the chair with his knees. He peers over the top and then pounces. Venei ergs, "Ag! Helps... Da big meanie gots me..." she hrms. Aik pulls her up and cradles her tightly, "Oh aye. the big meanie got yah.... Come on you little nut." he smiles as he makes to leave the burrow, "See yah you two..." he begins to talk to Venei, "You are such a pawful. Come on mum is going to tell you and Ella a story." "Yays!" she settles into his arms, enjoying the free transportation.
"Oh my. Do I want to know what kinds of stories otters tell. Or should I just assume there are fish involved. And water," Amy jokes having no real objections to either fish or water.
William doesn't feel like correcting her. And since the Aik isn't too thin skinned in Will's opinion. A little friendly teasing between family members isn't a bad thing.
Aikuen shakes his head at Amy, "Of course it's got water and fish. All good stories have some sort of variation of that!" he chuckles, "Fira will be telling about the otter clans of old. That she discovered it in a book, and the knowledge that we know from when we were told. It'll be good for the little ones to find out where they come from..." he chuckles and nods at the two, not being able to wave due to the grand size of Venei, "Alright. See yah..." he heads out the door, and is soon gone.
Once the otters are out of earshot Will burst out laughing that Amy guessed right. For some reason it just hits him as funny and soon she joins in laughing along with him.
