Never Alone When You Want To Be

It's dark out and its a beautiful night tonight. The stars are in the sky and the reflection in the pond is broken by something floating around slowly. He's floating around on his back, using his tail pretty much like an otter's rudder to steer himself clear of hitting anything. His paws are folded across his chest and he just hums a quiet tune to himself.
Aikuen can't sleep tonight. Ever since he woke up from the infirm. Getting back to the sleepy state has been hard for him. So. He does what any other beast does when they cant sleep. They walk around. Except for an otter. So... Its swim around. He exits Moledeep in search of solitude of the pond. But luck wasn't with him tonight. As he sees the beast in the water. He thinks its Kentar. Its dark, and they look just alike. The otter goes to sit on the side, "Hey..." he says out. Almost like a growl.
Robin jumps a mile and ends up sort of standing in the water...well, he would be if his footpaws touched the bottom of the pond. "Oh. Aik." he takes a deep breath. "Oh, sorry, I didn't see you come up." he nods, slowly swimming to the shore, and leaning on it. "Something wrong?" he asks at the tone of the greeting.
Aikuen snorts and smiles at the stoat, "Hey... Ke-..." he blinks a bit and rubs his eyes, "Umm. I mean Robin. Sorry 'bout sneaking up on ya. Thought i made a lot of noise. Sneaky is not my strong suit." he then tilts his head, "What do you mean?" his voice is still growly. He just doesn't realize it yet.
Robin hums and shrugs. "Don't worry about it." he tilts his head after a moment, nodding slowly. "Yeah...your voice sounds growlish or something. Sounds angry, yeah." )
Aikuen goes to put his footpaws in the water. Just push it back and forth. Like a kid might do, "Really?" he tries to clear his throat a few times, "How about now? Better?" Only change is that it sounds cleaner. Still growly, "So. What yah up too around here?"
The stoat hrms and shrugs. "Still growly but its fine. Maybe its just me." he chuckles then thinks for a moment. "Well. I guess I'm alright. Just been thinking for a little bit." the stoat nods a little bit. Robin looks to the sky for a few moments before back to Aik.
Aikuen scratches his neck, "Hmmm... Maybe it is?" he then reaches down and yet his paws. Before going back to look at Robin. He glances upward as well. Seeing nothing but the night sky, he shrugs. Looking back down, "Oh really? What yah been thinking about then?"
Robin huhs and ohs. "OH! Nothing really." he nods. "Just. Thinking." he smiles some. "I do a lot of thinking around this time of the season." The stoat nods with a chuckle, pushing himself off the shore and floats around slowly. )
Aikuen blinks at the stoat for a little bit, as he tries to figure out what the heck he is trying to say. He isnt a mind reader. There are many things that happen at this time of year. The otter eyes him for a little bit, "What are you talking about? What is it?"
The stoat floats around on his back again, staring to the sky. "Oh, nothing. Just. Lots of things I guess." he nods. "Home. Miss my friends. Left around this time when Bale and I came looking for dad." he shrugs in the water. "Lots of things."
Aikuen nods a bit starting to splash the water around, "I see. I see how that can come around..." he sighs, "Well. What are you going to do about it? Just laying an thinkin' might do a good for a little more action!" he chuckles.
Robin shrugs. "No idea. I can't really leave here." he nods. "Sort of miss Hanah." he says absently. "Uh...hm. Maybe I could write home and...yeah..." )
Aikuen hrms, "Aye. You can always do that. Im sure camp willow is not short of messenger birds..." he smiles a bit at the Hanah part, "Yah. Me too. Hope she and her kid are alright." As she would have had it by now, "To bad she didn't stay here. She would have been a ... neat, addition..." he smiles a bit more now.
Robin nods and huhs. "Hm? Oh. Yeah, she would have." he chuckles slightly before looking back up to the bright moon. "I was thinking of taking a trip somewhere. You know, after the camping trip. Not sure where yet. Just somewhere. I like somewhere. Maybe go home for a bit. I don't know." he rambles on, almost forgetting Aik is there. "Oh. Sorry." he laughs. "I tend to lose my mind when I think." he winks. )
Aikuen goes to hug one of his legs, "Oh really? Sounds like a plan. Beasts of your age always want too. I'm getting to on in age to do the same. Though i still like too. And i know you can do it, if you put your mind to it... Just. Come back. And come back as you! That's all..." he smirks, "Your family tends to do that... even when their NOT thinking!" he snorts.
Robin huhs and laughs a little bit. "Yeah. Probably." he then blinks and frowns. "Hey! Mum doesn't. Chris doesn't. Dad...well, he does." he chuckles. )
Aikuen splashes him, "You haven't seen your mother clazy have you?" he laughs, "And Chris. Well. He'll get it. I can feel it! Just waiting to pop out and scare the living bajeezes out of rest of us!"
Robin laughs and ergs as he's splashed. "Hey, I don't splash you when your swimming." he laughs a little, going to splash the old otter back. "Well, I do, but still!" )
Aikuen sticks his tongue out, "Its cause you cant! Splashing an otter is like splashing a waterfall. Its doenst make since!" he chuckles getting a good bit soaked, "See! Ima waterfall." he blows water from his muzzle.
Robin laughs a little and shakes his head slowly. "I know why you and dad get along so well." he smirks. "You two are so much alike in so many ways." the stoat smirks before going back over to shore and resting against it. "So Aik. Any plans for the evening?" he asks. )
Aikuen shrugs with a laugh. Starting to slick the water of his fur, "I don't know if i should take that as compliment. Or punch you in the nose." he grins and shakes his head, "Sleep. Hopefully. Haven't been sleeping well actually... AND i was hoping to get in a bit of late night swimming. Alone. But seeing as you here" he snorts.
Flicktail goes to the Dibbun's Garden
Robin chuckles. "You can swim if you want." The stoat nods. "Its a free pond last I checked." The stoat laughs a little bit before floating around on his back again. "You know what I miss most about home?" Robin asks. )
Flicktail movesout of the mole deep with yhje use of a cane as he hobbles over, his fur still stained a bit pink from the other night..he makes his way over with a wincing smile "Ello Aikuen...you playin wi stoats agin?
Aikuen rolls his eyes, "When i mean alone... I meant... I dont think seeing me nekkid was something in your to-do book today." he laughs and slips into the water slowly. Without making so much as a ripple, "I know it a free pond! I frekin built it!" he dips under the water and comes up when the fox arrives, "Heyo Flicky." water be gone! "As always, yes"
The idea of it makes him shudder and shake his head as if someone punched him in the jaw. "Yeah, thanks for that." he nods before blinking, looking up to Flicktail and giving a little wave, but not saying anything. He's never made a habit of talking to someone he doesn't know.
Flicktail sits down slowly with effort, his thigh all bandaged "don't just float ere Aikuen, if ye built e pond..didn't ye put no fishes in it? Some hospitality ya ave ere" he grins "no Fresh Fishies fer a guest" he moves hos sword to his lap as he eyes Robin up and down andthen mirrors Robin's Blink
The stoat in the water looks quite an awful lot like Kentar. Only he has two eyes, no brand, and his fur is actually clean. Robin just smiles a bit at Flicktail as he floats about, looking between the fox and the otter.
Flicktail used a foot paw to idilly spash robin with a sly grin and a wink "Can't get me stitches wet, yer wide said she'd take off e rest o me hide iffin Oi did
Aikuen goes to float on his back, putting his paws behind his head, "Sorry foxy. Didn't put any fishes in here. Too much work, and the pond is a clean spring. Sides... The river is only a few hours in..." he points to the south, "In a thata direction" he snorts, "Fira said that?" he grins, "Good for her. That's a good thing, you know. We would have to restitch them if we did AND you would get water into that wound of yours. That'd be fun"
Robin heys and moves out of splashing range and smirks. "Your just lucky your hurt, or I'd splash you back." He chuckles quietly. His accent is much heaver then Kentar's, so its a good give away that he's not his dad. )
Flicktail blink blinks "FISHEYS is clean...! he looks at his flank, then at Robin he looks "whoa...that be a accent almost as good as mine lad...Oi Be Flcikaile o Redwall Abbey Lad..Well met and Peace to ye
Aikuen chuckles, "I meant the water is clean! No fishes come from it! If it was up to me, and was not as hard. Id have fishes here, in a heart beat!" he laughs. Before popping off underwater. He hovers just below the surface, and his rudder sticks out of the water like a periscope as he moves around slowly.
The stoat blinks. "Heh. Didn't know you were from the eastern shores." Robin chuckles a little, thinking his accent was better. "I'm Robin. Kentar's son." he nods. "Nice to meet-" he pauses as he laughs at the rudder sticking out from the water. "Oh Aik."
Flicktail says, "oh lord, Kentnar went an ad a son, well if yer loikes yer dad this won't be a borin place...."
Aikuen starts to make a circle motion around the stoat. His rudder now mimicking a shark... Before is disappears under the water. And the otter is lost in it.
The stoat huhs and laughs a little. "I've been around for many seasons." he smirks before thinking. "And he had Christopher there a few seasons ago. Only two of us. Well. Three if you count Kluna." he nods.
Robin watches Aikuen and tilts his head to one side. "You know, Aik, if you wanted me to leave, I would." he laughs a little bit and chuckles.
Aikuen sighs heavily, "Its alright. Its fine. I don't mind too much. Really." and spoof around the pond, "So. You can stay. Im not gonna be mean and force you away! Sides... i wont be able to do this if you go!" he heavily moves his arm in the water toward the stoat. Mini Tidal wave! Right at him.
Flicktail cocks his head "wot ya talkin about Aikuen, oi loikes watchin otters swimmin....
Robin huhs as he watches the wave come towards him. "Erg!" he takes a huge breath and dives completely under water as the wave misses him. He then blinks and surfaces. "Hey! Now I'm even more wet." he frowns.
Flicktail asks, "wot be wrong wi bein wet? ye ARE inna watter ya knows"
Aikuen has a very smug look at the stoat, "Well good! Gonna get in the pond? Gonna get all wet. Only reasonable solution to the whole thing." he chuckles and glances to the fox, tilting his head, "Huh? Oh. Nothing. I just wanted to swim alone tonight. And Robby was here. So... My pants had to stay on." he laughs.
Flicktail says, "hmmm well me leg were gettin stiff so Oi come out fer a stroll"
Robin frowns and splashes Aik with an even bigger mini-tidal wave before looking to Flicktail and chuckles a little. "Could be worse. You could have no leg to stroll on." he smirks.
Flicktail says, "aye a Ferret last night tried ta do jus at"
Aikuen takes the full wave with a smile, "Ah! Now that was refreshing!" he chuckles blowing out some water, "Well Flicky. Its perfectly alright. You should be moving around. And Hey. What better place to take a stroll then over here... If you didn't have that wound. I would make you go swimmin!" he glances to Robin, "That too. But i dont that Ferret will be takin anymore legs anytime soon..." he hrms.
Robin nods. "From what dad told me, we probably wont see them again." the stoat nods. "Dad made sure of that." he knows just what Kentar did. And he's not sure if he's too pleased about it.
Flicktail smiles "well Oi aught ta get back to e infirmarly, oi um..sorta snuck out..
Robin hums and laughs. "Ah, we won't tell any beast." he chuckles quietly. "Get well soon!" he nods.
Aikuen nods and rubs at his eyes, "Kentar got em' I know he did..." he sighs, "I buried the rat this morning... Gave him a proper burial..." he hrms, "I hate it... Even though he was a killer... There was something about him..." he grunts.
Robin nods. "Kentar. Didn't kill the other's he went after. Only one of them." he nods. "He let the others live. With...a penalty." he hrms. "I suppose its better then dying.' he nods once.
Aikuen is kinda surprised, "Really? Hrm. Well. Good for him. Though this 'penalty' sounds... not good..." he sighs, going back to lay on his back.
Robin nods. "Yeah. It isn't." he frowns. "He sort of. Did something to make sure they can't hurt anyone else intentionally ever again. At least we wont see them...and they probably wont see us either"
Aikuen blinks at bit, "Well. Ripping out their eyes. Well, that will make sure they wont. And its probably best for us, and the rest of the woodlanders. Even if i don't like it." he sighs going over to the side getting out, "Probably be best."
Robin nods. "He didn't...take them out, just did sort of what he did like to Skuld." He nods. "He could have killed them. And at least now they'll hopefully not cause anymore trouble. I feel bad for them though." the stoat nods.
Aikuen shakes the water from his body, "OH... Okay... Well still..." he shrugs, "I... would have let them live. I wouldn't when i was younger. But... i have changed since then. Grown... older..." he chuckles, "If its possible."
Robin nods. "He said he was going to kill them but couldn't bring himself to do it. So, he just took half of their things, their sight and then pointed them in the right direction before coming home." he nods.
Aikuen nods, "I would have let them off scott free. Dumb i know." he chuckles, "But after a life i lived. hurting other people just seems like a pointless venture. If there ever was one." he sighs, "Anyway. I should be getting back. I need to have my arm looked at again. And Miz healer pants is very... well... erksome lately. Best not get on Fira's bad side... for the time being" he chuckles before waving the stoat, "See yah Robby. Catch yah later!" and he is gone.
Robin nods slowly and chuckles. "Alright. C'ya later Aik! Sorry about your swim!" he nods before floating out towards the middle of the pond on his back and staring up into the sky again, sighing as he returns to his previous train of thought. "I miss her." he mutters quietly.
