More Waiting
Characters: Robin, Syla, William
Golden Pike
Its rather late in the evening onboard the ship. Robin and Syla are out on deck, and right now, they're the only two, everyone else gone to bed. And they're talking to each other quietly, looking a little bit sad.
Not everyone else is in bed. Will and a few of the crew are up, on night watch. The rat's tattered ears flick toward the stoat's voices as he passes them while on duty.
Syla sounds, by the way her voice is shaky, that she's been crying. "Its okay, Sy." Rob smiles just a little. "Maybe next time, I promise." he nods, giving her a hug. He lets go just in time to see William move by. "Evening Will..." "E-evening." Syla greets as well.
"Evenin," the rat replies. He could guess at what they're talking about but he wont. Instead he says, "Sooner we head back th better. Th baby - otter'll have t learn t walk twice th longer we stay here."
The stoats nod slowly and then hum. "Yeah. Probably. I want to go home too." Rob nods a bit before humming. "There was something we were going to tell every one tomorrow...but we don't have to tell anyone now." he frowns a little.
William nods a little and chews on his lip. ".... sorry. Not that it probably helps any," he mumbles out figuring he should say something.
The two nod again. "We uh. Thought that...Syla was pregnant." Robin nods. "For about a week." Syla adds. "And we found out today we were completely and totally wrong." he sighs, leaning back against the railing.
William isn't going to ask for details. Weither they misread the signs or something worse it is clear they wanted the babe. "I'm sorry," he repeats a little clearer this time. He doesn't know what else to say.
They do smile a little bit. "Yeah. Thanks Will." Syla nods. And then Robin just grins. "Just means we'll have to try again. Maybe when the trip is over." Or sooner. Syla smacks at Rob and shakes her head. "Silly thing." They then look to William. "So Will. How've you been, hm?"
William shrugs, "I've been. Don't know what I'll do if we don't put t sea again though. Might go ashore an track that otter down, stoat too. Might just be restlessness but seems they've been gone much too long for whatever they're doing."
Robin shrugs a little. "They said that they'd be a while. Apparently its a long trip to the castle Aik is supposed to get his pardon from." he nods. "They probably also want to spend a few nights in all of Aik's old favorite places and all." he nods.
William hmms, "I guess. Most of Aik's old favorites place may be taverns. Might not be I wouldn't be surprised. He was pretty bad off when I first met him."
The two stoats nod slowly. "Yeah." they hum quietly as they think. "Maybe just old...friends or something. If there's any around I mean."
William nods, "Maybe. Or t see .... what's her name. Uh ..... Mera? Her grave or whatever. Aik's first wife and daughter. She was named for her mother."
Robin nods. "Yeah. Maybe thats whats taking them so long." he shrugs. "Eh. I'm sure we can find something to do." he thinks.
"You do that," the rat says walking off, "I have still work to do."
