Celina missing, where could she be? (Long Patrol Log)

Salamandastron: Crater

  • -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

You are on the very top of the mountain of Salamandastron: a large, bowl-

shaped crater. The crater is not smooth, quite the contrary in fact.

Numerous boulders and large chunks of rock are strewn around randomly,

making the crater top just as craggy as any of the mountainside. The

crater provides an outstanding view of the surrounding country. The sea

sprawls off to the west as far as the eye can see, and north and south

along the endlessly rolling sand dunes. In the distant east, a tinge of

green is just visible from this height, marking the vegetation in the

foothills of the Western Mountains.

Hares: Baatar, male. Windrose, female. Felicity 'Lissie', female. Spearmint 'Mint', female. Quinten, male. Jinora, female.

Baatar is up on the crater and looking out over the beach, he sighs and seems tense today, or maybe just bored, one of the two.

Windrose walks over to the other hare, "Hallo, though ya didn't like it up here Baatar, or decided the view is nice after all?"

Baatar shrugs "I...was seeing if anyone was on the shores, not seen someone in a couple days, just odd is all."

Windrose is curious "Not seen who in a couple days, I may of seen them. Maybe in the village or elsewhere." She waits on a reply.

Baatar frowns as he answers "Celina, she seemed upset last I seen her and said she was going out for some fresh air and that was like 2-3 days ago...maybe 4 days I don't know. I figured she just staying in her room but she wasn't there either."

Windrose asks, "I meet her a couple times I think, a recruit like you I believe, I wouldn't think she be outside long and usually recruits are in training everyday surely you saw her then?""

Baatar says, "Well she hasn't been in the training room and she usually is"

Windrose nods "Odd...have you told anyone yet?"

Baatar shakes his head "No, well I told you she was missing or least I think she is."

Windrose frowns, " Seems like she IS missing. Think, did she say anything about where she was going, anything at all?"

Baatar tries to remember and shakes his head "I don't remember, just she was with the sea gull dibbun and was going to go to the beach with it, but like said that was like...days ago...4 days maybe 5, no more than that. Come to think of it not seen the sea gull around either, maybe they are somewhere together."

Windrose says, "Maybe, I heard about the sea gull, it got in and caused a mess I think"

Baatar sighs "I...I am just worried about her, what if something happen to her or maybe she ran away."

Windrose nods "Understandable to be worried, if its been more than a couple days of seeing her last and wot do ya mean maybe ran away? Why ever would she do that for?"

Baatar answers "Last time I saw her she said no one liked her here and had no friends, I told her I was a friend and she said I was just lying to her and slammed a door in my face"

Felicity has decided that it's much too nice of a day to do her paperwork inside. That, and she's feeling like she's going to go stark raving mad if she has to stay stuck inside the mountain for a day longer. So she comes stumping up to the crater with her old-looking haversack full of stuff, leaning heavily on her crutch to keep from injuring her bandaged right ankle worse. She enters the crater....and sighs. Well, so much for solitude. Hobbling over, she smiles and says, "Well, good day, you 2. 'Ow are you, wot?"

Baatar sighs "I...could be better, I am a little down, worried for a friend"

"Oh? Who is it? Maybe I can help...?" Lissie sits down and shrugs off her haversack, letting it thump to the floor. She looks at him compassionately, wanting to help, and hoping that she can.

Baatar answers "Celina, not seen her for a few days or her sea gull friend either. And last I did she was saying no one was her friend and no one understood her. She hasn't been in the training room either the past few days"

Felicity sits up straight and scoots forward a little on her seat. "Celina? With little Seaweed? I know 'er! When was the last time ya saw her? I'm sorry she felt that; I was wanting to be their friend, too."

Baatar says, "Maybe 4 days ago, give or take a day that is. I am starting to worry some now and this is the first day I have told anyone else that I can't find her."

Felicity nods, her brow cresing with concern. "4 days, you said? That's not good.....I don't blame you for worrying. Did she anything, anything at all, before she vanished, that would hint at if she, like, ran away or somethin'?" She is starting to worry, too.

Baatar says, "She said she might go to the beach, and I didn't think too much of it, hares go to the beach all the time, but then they come back inside. I looked for her at the village last night and she wasn't there either, I mean it is a big place but still"

Felicity rubs her temples and glares at her bandaged ankle. "If I wasn't injured, I would request to help form a search party to try and find her. Did she give a reason for goin' to the beach?" She pulls out a charcoal pencil and a plank piece of paper and starts writing down what the other hare has told her.

Baatar says, "Not really other than fresh air and that she was taking the seagull to the beach cause wasn't allowed inside, then another time she was crying but didn't say wot was wrong and then...gone"

Felicity writes all this down, then frowns. "...this isn't good. I 'ope....I hope that she didn't run away. When was the last time that you saw Seaweed, the gull?" She looks up at him, trying to come up with any other questions that might get helpful answers.

Baatar says, "The day he was in the dining hall under the table, maybe day before last seen Celina. Why would she leave, I...I thought she wanted to join the patrol"

Felicity stares at the list she has made, dreading what the implications might be. "When a beast feels alone, there's no tellin' what they'll do." she sighs and looks at the sky beyond the crater rim. "She needs to be found. I wish I could be one of the ones to go searchin' for 'er...."

Baatar asks, "But who else do we tell?"

Felicity taps her chin, her lips pursed. "I think a high-rankin' officer would be best...the 'igher up, the bettah." She stands, leaning heavily on her crutch. "Let's go try to find somebeast!"

Baatar nods "Yeah, you think she is ok?"

They're in luck! Lieutenant Spearmint is climbing her way up to the crater, a little sack of lunch in her paw. The hare turns her ears forward curiously as she spies other creatures in what is usually her quiet little lunch spot. At first she just turns towards some of the natural rock seating places, leaving them to whatever they're up to.

Felicity sighs. "I 'ope so.....Lieutenant!!" She seems much more excited and relieved to see the other doe than she probably is used to. "We need your 'elp! Celina is missing!!" She stumps over her. "Baatar 'ere 'asn't seen 'er or her seagull friend for 4 days or so," she adds, jabbing a thumb in his general direction.

Baatar walks over to the Lt. hare "She..she may of ran away or something, I don't know or maybe got herself in trouble"

Spearmint stops short, snapping her attention over to the others as they approach. There is the briefest moment where the newly minted Lt. Mint forgets they might be speaking to /her/. "Oh!" Mint remembers herself and looks at them with a creased face of concern. "Celina," Mint mutters to herself, trying to place a name and face. "Who's...patrol is she in? I'm not familiar with her."

Felicity shakes her head. "She isn't in a Patrol. I don't think she was quite a Recruit yet, eithah. She's about yeah tall, with black fur, with white patches, and she has blueish violetish eyes. She has a friend seagull that follows her around allot."

Baatar nods "But the seagull is like..small"

Spearmint nods her head at the description, scratching at a chin whisker. "Well, if she isn't in the patrol, I don't know if th' top officahs will be lookin' t'send beasts out for an official search. But, one of you needs to alert th' entry guards to keep a lookout, an' I'll inform m'higher ups."

Baatar frowns at this "But...but. I think she is a recruit or barely one anyways and we HAVE ta look for her wot if she is in trouble or...or worse!"

Felicity sags visibly. Curse her stupid busted ankle. "So......nobeast'll look for her, probably?" She sounds like she's having a really hard time believing this. "But.....I....I don't understand this, I'm sorry. Why wouldn't they search for her?"

Quinten walks out of the mountain, ascending the stairs from below and starts to cross the crater, nodding toward the younger hares as he strolls past.

Spearmint purses her lips into a thoughtful frown. Her paw, still holding onto the little sack of lunch, sways slightly as a breeze hits the crater. "Four days isn't a long time for a beast t'go gallivanting on their own, y'see. In the patrol? Sure, that means they're missin' duty an' obviously something is wrong... If she was officially in the patrol, then I am more than sure that we can arrange a patrol search. If not, I will talk to th' Majors an' see if we have beasts to spare for a beach sweep, but I can't make promises."

Felicity nods sadly. "I don't know if she was actually a Recruit or not. I mean....IS a Recruit....or....not...." She glances at the Recorder, but doesn't smile or anything like she normally does. She looks very worried.

Baatar frowns, " I think she like just became one...but still she needs found wot if she is hurt somewhere?"

Quinten carries on past, not really paying that much attention to the recruits and privates, carrying a book under one arm as he heads toward the garden.

"Believe me," Mint says, holding up a paw to try and calm them. "I don't like th' idea of beasts missin', either. But unfortunately there is a process involved here. It wouldn't be th' first time a search ended in findin' some beast who jus' wanted t'get away for a few days." She takes in a breath and glances to the recorder momentarily. "I'll speak t'a Major today about this. Meanwhile, like I said, inform the guards an' have them pass th' word on t'each duty shift. If you're off t'day, you should go search in a party yerselves if you see fit. Ask around Halyard, perhaps."

Felicity bites her lip. ".....'ow far is it, exactly, to get to Halyard? I've...only been there once, and I forgot how long of a walk it was...." She shuffles slightly and repositions her crutch under her arm. She probably couldn't make it that far in the condition her ankle is in.....

Quinten turns sideways and looks at the others, long ears standing up, "Someone missing wot? Did I hear that right?"

Spearmint looks to Felicity, shrugging. "About two hours there," Mint says, motioning down the beach towards the town. "Bit much if yer hurt, but m'sure you could ask around the mountain while somebeast else went t' Halyard. There are patrollers at the village, even now, that may be willin' to help. But if you haven't looked for yer friend in Halyard, chances are she's there. Only place around here t'go, really." Her ears turn back to Quinten. "'Fraid these two have a friend they haven't heard from in a few days."

Baatar says, "Celina is missing sir"

Quinten says, "Ah I see... I know Celina from my classes, it'd be strange for her to wander off. She's most likely hiding out someplace having some time to herself. We all do it from time to time, tha mountain is a bloody great weight wot. Sometimes a hare just needs ta get out and run."

Baatar says, "Then...how long till we like need to worry then. And I am thinking of looking for her, maybe in the village a little better, would that be allowed sir?"

Quinten says, "I should certainly think so, best to be sure rather then just assume she has snuc off and it turns out it is something worse. Two days seems like enough time for us to start looking wot."

Spearmint snorts, a small annoyance in the back of her throat. "I just said if yer off duty t'day, you could go to th' village." She shoves her gaze at Quinten for only a split second before looking back to Bataar. "I may be newly in the position, but I am an officer now an' you don't have t'go around me t'the nearest buck t'get orders." She straightens up and turns to go eat her lunch elsewhere.

Felicity is starting to feel slightly frustrated. Stupid, stupid ankle, causing her all sorts of problems and irritations!! She looks over at the Recorder. "Aye, 'er name is Celina. She's been missing for about 4 days." she sighs at the other doe's words and rubs her forhead. Well, that just got slightly heated.

Baatar frowns "She been missing 4 days already." He frowns at Mint and his ears droop, he backs off and then decides this is the perfect time to start that search and he is off, dirk at his side just in case.

The soft sound of footfalls announces Jinora's arrival. She is dressed in her training clothes - simple, light exercise fair with wrappings on her paws and forearms suggest that she was enjoying some boxing practice prior to her entrance. Her face has cleared up some; her muzzle is still noticeably bruised, both eyes bearing dark crescents beneath them from when her nose was broken, but it has finally subsided enough to allow the teenager to comfortably be seen in public. Her post-workout walk, though, is apparently going to be a bit more interesting than planned, as she catches the tail end of the conversation. "Congratulations, bah tha way." Jinora intercedes, nodding to Spearmint, unwrapping the linens from her paws as she does so and taking a seat nearby. She's here for the view, the gossip is just a plus!

Spearmint nods her thanks as she walks past. "Thank you, Jinora," the doe says, relaxing just a little a she exits the crater and goes down the stairs to eat her lunch and find a Major.

Quinten quirks an ear at Spearmint "Hold on a moment Lieutenant," he calls after Spearmint but isn't fast enough and sighs then turns on Baatar, "If the Lieutenant had already given you permission you didn't need to ask me again." he looks at Jinora and nods to her in greeting, "Anyway if it has been four days then we probably should organize a search, sorry I heard two whilst walking past. Four is enough time for concern,"

Felicity smiles wanly at the Major. "Thank you, Sah. I'm glad I'm not just worrying unnecessarily. I can't go to Halyard with my foot the way it is, but I think I shall take the Lieutenant's advice and ask around the Mountain. Where would you suggest I start?" She waves at the newly-entered doe and says, "Excuse me, but 'ave you seen a black and white haremaid named Celina? I haven't seen 'er for a few days, and I'm getting worried." Or she could just start asking up here.

Somebeast is missing? Jinora perks, not bothering to hide that she is eavesdropping. She doesn't have to pretend for long, though, as she is soon pulled into the conversation willingly. Score! "Can't say Ah 'ave evah met 'er." She directs her next remark towards Quinten with a salute. "Would ye like me te travel te Halyard an' search there, sah?"

Quinten says, "If you could, recruit, that'd be helpful, the sooner we ask around the town tha better. I'll tell the Colonel and his Lordship we have a missing recruit and get some more beasts on this." he flicks his ears back and looks down at Felicity, "I suggest you start by asking around the communal areas, see if anyone has seen her."

Felicity brightens a tiny bit now that she has an action plan. "Alright, Sah, thank you." Turning to the Recruit, she smiles in relief. "Oh, thank you! I'm a bit worried about 'er. She 'as a seagull friend named Seaweed that follows her around allot."

"A...Seagull?" Jinora is bemused, but stands at attention, dropping her salute and nodding succintly to the Major. "Ah'll change an' 'ead tha' way immediately, sah." This has been an exciting week for the eager-to-please recruit: her nose is broken in an attack on the tavern, she is given an actual 'assignment' to hang around the Apothecary, and now she gets to search for a missing recruit? 'Volunteer for everything' she had been told in her first week here, and it seems as if it is finally paying off. The eager young doe turns back to Felicity. "Is there any more information tha' ye cin give me about this Celina?"

Quinten says, "Well Felicity I will leave you to inform Jinora on what you can and go see Rah and Cio and speak to you both soon," he nods his head and heads up and into the mountain.

Felicity nods and tells the recruit everything she can about Celina, including how Baatar said she felt alone and friendless, and how she thought that everyone didn't approve of her having a seagull friend. After she tells everything she knows, she heads down into the mountain and begins to ask around.
