Blisa arrives at Redwall
RW Abbey: Entry
The raging fireball in the great bowl of the sky as well as the constant, sweltering heat that refuses stubbornly to ease even during the odd hours of the night herald the arrival of summer. You stand on a grassy sward between two cottages. To the south you see a small, calm pond. To the north lies an open space where the Abbey has its feasts in the warmer seasons. To the east is the Great Hall, a massive structure that rises far above the abbey walls and is completed with large towers that pierce upwards into the sky. The main building is adorned with a large, iron banded door that would allow one into the Great Hall. During the day, blinding golden lights washes over this humble clearing. In retaliation, the massive building, coated in a faded crimson soars towards the skies, its huge size offering valuable shade.
Flowers are in full bloom, brilliantly colored petals revealing to the Abbeybeasts in a loud, flamboyant fashion their sheer joy for living as well as their animated spirits. Luscious greens sweep the area in a subtler beauty, enhancing the vibrancy of the flora. Soft grasses cushion your footpaws, and from time to time a gentle breeze will caress through to shift the blades of grass and the small layer of dust. Though small in area, and humble compared to the other regions of the Abbey, it is quite clear that everything in this small clearing is bursting with life and at their prime; all have been touched by summer's grace. !!--!Summer is here!--!!

Foxes: Rayen, female.
Ermines: Nightbreath, male.
Squirrels: Benar, male.
Other friends, run by me: LilyMoore and DoraRose the female mice. Blisa the female cat and her bodyguards: Ferdinand the male ferret, Valerie the vixen, Hank the male fox, Statler the male stoat, Waldo the male weasel, Clarissa the female rat, and Cerah the ermine. Basilisk the male whiptail snake.
Rayen decided to be on watch today, her dibbuns are with Sister Jenny right now. The vixen has her longbow and quiver of arrows with her, but only while she is on watch duty. She scans the road and the woods quietly for any signs of trouble and has been fairly quiet all morning.
Drinks have been sent up to the wallguards, and Lily, being off-duty today, volunteered to take them up. As she comes up to the vixen, she cheerily calls, "Hello, Missus Rayen! Would you like some cordial?" She offers the vixen a beaker.
Rayen was at first lost in her own thoughts and blinks "Errr what...oh, oh yes...yeah cordial, thanks" She smiles and takes a glass and a couple small sips before another quick scan of the road and woods.
Handing the vixen the beaker, LilyMoore leans on the walltop and scans the woodlands and road, too. "I sure hope Blisa's okay," she says, suddenly sad. "I hope she gets here soon....."
Rayen frowns "I...didn't see her when I was out in the woods, I Saw Zurrgg though and some of the beasts who work for him. Where ever he is he is going to need a healer, an eagle did some pretty serious damage to his face, here is good advice...never anger an eagle, trust me it ends badly."
Listening wide-eyed to the vixen, LilyMoore solemnly nods her head. "That sounds scary.....I'll keep that in mind. Did....did Oz happen to see them?" Looks like Angela told her that the badger had been rescued, even though she wouldn't tell the maid how he was....or even let her see him.
Rayen manaages a chuckle "Well he heard them....and..." She frowns remembering what -SHE- saw, she sighs "There was a ferret there...some archer for Zurrgg...I shot an arrow in their stupid neck, I was angry at the time cause I ...I thought he killed Oz, I didn't even check on Oz 'til after that eagle came out of the trees and starting clawing Zurrgg." She takes a breath to go on "Then I went over to where Oz was and found out he was alive, had some thick bark leather vest on, only thing that ...well if he had not had it...on, he would of been dead. That arrow hit him and still was...well least not that far, he is alive and that's what matters. I and the eagle got him back to the abbey and to the infirm and I had someone get Leon and Angela both"
Nodding, Lily goes back to surveying the countryside. "Nana wouldn't tell me how he was, but....I'm lad that he's okay and that you were there to help him. You must be really brave. Do you.....do you think he'll be alright? Nan wouldn't tell me."
Rayen shrugs "I don't know. I haven't checked on him, I am sure he is or someone would of said something by now"
Sighing, Lily nods. "Yeah, you're right. I guess I'm just freaking out because of all that's going on. It seems like everybeast else is just going with the flow, but sometimes I just have to sit in the Belltower and cry. This is all just so scary...."
Rayen says, "I agree it is scary but its ok to be scared sometimes"
Looking up at the vixen's face, Lily earnestly asks, "But how can we stand up to the fear to be brave? It's so hard...." She turns back to look at the land outside of the Abbey walls and sighs again.
Rayen says, "Well I am not sure, but nothing wrong with being afraid. I think Oz may of been, I mean I sure would of been if an arrow hit me and I didn't know where I was or others was as it did get a little confusing. Even Martin the warrior was afraid at times"
That got Lily's attention. "He was?" She asks in slight awe. She doesn't remember reading anything about Martin the Warrior being afraid...
Rayen nods and smiles "Yes he was. I was afraid myself I mean that eagle proba'ly saved me from dying, it sort of distracted the wildcat."
Looking down the road to the South, Lily, who is standing up on the walltop beside Rayen (wherever she is), picks up a beaker of cordial and sips it. It was about half-full to begin with, so it must be hers. "You seem really brave....is Zurrgg really as dangerous as everyone says he is?"
Rayen nods "Yes and he had a couple dozen beasts with him a couple days ago, proba'ly a lot more in Ferravale"
Nightbreath walks up to the wall from out of the woods. He's been sent most likely as an advance scout for Blisa's party. He glances up to the walltops. "Hail. I don't suppose you can let me in?"
Looking down, Lily smiles in recognition. DoraRose is walking by just then, and her daughter calls down to her. "Momma, we have a guest!" Hurrying up the wallsteps, the Warrior peeks down and sees who it is.....and scowls. However, she knows that she shouldn't leave him standing out there, and so heads back down and opens the gate for him. "You'll have to hand me your weapons, and keep in mind that I don't like you," she grumbles at him as she irritatedly gestures for the ermine to enter.
"Why, what happened?" Nightbreath demands curiously, drawing out his sleeve-stored knife, his coiled blade-rope, and his jagged-edged sword, passing them in a bundle to the Warrior. "I thought we'd settled our issues."
Rayen blinks and looks down at Nightbreath, this is the first time she has seen him before but if Dora and Lily know him must be safe.
Scowling, Dora growls, "We had, and then with this whole thing with.....Scioto, it reminded me of how a stupid Seer had told my family that my sister would die and did /nothing/ to help. Excuse me for not appreciating you right now." She drags the weapons off to the storage area. She's actually unsure as to if the memorandum saying that fighters could keep their weapons on the Abbey grounds is still in affect or not, but she's gonna store his weapons anyway. LilyMoore rushes down and smiles shyly at him. "You're one of Blisa's friends, right? Is she okay?"
"She's upset. But physically sound," Nightbreath says, flashing a reassuring smile to the young mousemaid. "She should be arriving soon, I'd imagine." He gazes off briefly after DoraRose, thinking, /I never asked for appreciation. Only cooperation. And I did everything I could to save Scioto. But fate conspired against me..../
Rayen makes her way down to the entry and nods a hello to the seer, for now she keeps the longbow and arrows as she will most likely go back to the wall tops soon.
"Hail the Abbey!" Just as DoraRose comes back, there is a heavy banging on the gate. Recognizing that voice, the Warrior unbars and opens the gate. The sight that greets them is.....crowded. Basilisk is at the back, hissing slightly at something Clarissa has said. Hank, Statler and Waldo drag a wagon, full of many of the Ferravale Chieftain's possessions, in past the astounded mice. Cerah and Valerie are leading Blisa in, murmuring to her. The cat is staring at nothing, unresponsive. Lily rushes to her after they get inside and gives her a huge hug. "BLISA!" Ferdinand bows to the Gatekeeper. "May I thpeak to the Abbot, pleathe, Mith DoraRothe?"
Nightbreath nods to Blisa's retinue curtly and steps to the side so they can enter, still lost in thought. He almost stops Lily from running to Blisa, but decides against it.
Blisa doesn't respond to LilyMoore's hug. The mousemaid steps back and holds her friend at arm's length. "Blisa?" The 3 guards dragging the wagon have pulled it to the middle of the open ground and then collapsed, groaning. Ferdinand helps the Warrior close the gate, leaving Clarissa and Basil outside (everyone is assuming that the snake is not allowed in the Abbey) as DoraRose says, "If we can find him, yes. Lily, please go try to find Benar." The mousemaid, eyes filling with tears at her friend's unresponsiveness, nods, then dashes off to do as she is bid. Valerie and Cerah continue trying to get the cat to say something......anything. The Seer is now being temporarily ignored.
And he doesn't mind that. Instead, he runs an eye over the group, not having much to say at the moment. He'll step forward if needed however. (Nightbreath)
Rayen frowns "Abbot Benar may be busy. I don't...I been sort of either in my room or on the walls"
Blisa is guided to sit on the wallsteps. She still has yet to respond. Ferdinand furrows his brow. "We are needing to athk for thanctuary. I....wath altho hoping to talk to the Abbot and the Champion about what hath been happening in Ferravale." DoraRose looks at Rayen. "I'm still unsure how much authority I have as Gatekeeper....I'm assuming that it's not much. I basically just have the right to open the door.....I'm pretty sure." Lily can be seen exiting the main building now...
Nightbreath shrugs. "Do you have the right to close it, too?" he quips, deadpan. Then he grows serious again. "We have nowhere else to go, Ferravale is turned against us."
Benar walks towards the entry as he sees a group of beasts gathered there. He nods to a order beast who nods and heads to check on something.
Rayen looks up at the abbot, she starts to go to the wall tops and then places her longbow and arrows where they belong "I am going to check on some things in the infirm"
Well, in the middle of the open ground is a wagon with a stoat, a weasel, and a huge male fox lounging around it, looking tired. All of their weapons have been gathered up and put in storage. DoraRose relaxes and, after giving the Seer a dirty look, points to the Abbot. "Oh, there he is. Lily must've found him." Ferdinand waves at the squirrel. "Hail, Abbot Benar!" Basil can be heard hissing sadly for the cat from the other side of the gate. Blisa finally responds to Valerie ad Cerah's urgings, and hugs the very sad LilyMoore back. "Hi....Lily...." is all she says, and whispered at that.
Nodding to Benar, the Seer waits to be addressed, eyes half closed, whispering something or other to himself.
Benar walks over to Ferdinand and Blisa "Hello, I am glad to see you are safe and made it to the abbey. The wildcat Zurrgg has caused some trouble, a good deal of trouble, lately." He frowns as he doesn't have to ask, he can tell from their pained looks, "I had hoped to learn Scioto's death was a rumor...a lie but I can tell its the truth. I am very sorry for your loss and you and your guards are welcome to stay at the abbey." He nods to the Seer as well, and what he says next will come as a total shock to most, "Basil...is allowed inside as well, but he must stay with Blisa"
Shocking! Blisa actually looks the squirrel in the eye. "Basil......is allowed inside?" DoraRose gets over her surprise with relative speed, and opens the door, telling the snake and Clarissa that they can come in. Basil needs no second urging, and he barrels in and wraps both the cat and Lily up in a hug. The Warrior quickly slams the gate shuts and bolts it and then starts poking the snake. "Put my daughter down!" Lily decides to trust the smiling cat and lets go of her fear, trusting that the snake will not harm either of them. Clarissa grudgingly hands over her weapons. Ferdinand hides his surprise very well, and instead steps forward and says to the Abbot, "I'm afraid that you are right. Thir Thcioto ith dead, and we would like to requetht thanctuary while we prepare to regain our village."
Laughing slightly despite the somber nature of the Ferravalians' visit here, Nightbreath watches as Blisa snaps out of her sorrow with a hint of satisfaction. "Aye, Ferravale will be ours again someday soon, but for now...nowhere else is safe."
Benar nods "I will let our champion Magramba know of this. If there is anything else we can do let us know Blisa. I am unsure who can help as we do not have many fighters and a couple I know of are still recovering."
Blisa looks at the Abbot, suddenly solemn again. As Basil releases the maids and scoots a little ways away from the grumpy Warrior, the cats steps forward and says, "I heard from LilyMoore's friend Butterclaw that Zurrgg burned the peace treaty. I want you to know that, as far as I am concerned, the treaty is still intact between us. I..." she can't continue, and her gaze becomes unfocused again. Clarissa and Cerah, understanding that Blisa is safe, and with Ferdinand's leave, go off to look for food, not realizing that there is rationing going on. Only the 2 mice, the cat, Ferdinand, Valerie, and Basil are left with the Abbot now.
"At any rate," Nightbreath says suddenly, "I'll go inform Magramba." Of course, Benar might find him first...Either way, the Seer heads off towards the main Abbey building.
Benar watches them, they will find out about the rations when they go to the kitchens. The abbot steps forwards and if allowed will give Blisa a hug "We can discuss things later, you don't have to right now. I will have an order member find a place you can rest while your here. Is anyone injured or in need of the infirm?"
Blisa gets hugged. While DoraRose argues with the snake, and Valerie and LilyMoore have a very serious conversation in low tones, Ferdinand steps forward and says, "Actually, we have a tent. Thince the thnake is allowed in the Abbey, it might be betht if we thleep in the tent, tho ath to not have him thlithering around within the building." Blisa struggles to bring herself back into the present. "None....none of us are injured, but we......Oz was with us for a little bit, but then he seemed to have vanished. Is he here somewhere?"
Benar listens, "A tent....hmmms maybe by the firepit as it's out of the way and there is room over there for a tent, and there is logs to sit on." He nods "Oz made it to the abbey thanks to Rayen and the eagle Thunderwing....he is injured but not as serious as he could of been as Martin was watching him and he is in the infirm resting and I ask you to please let him rest and maybe visit in a couple days."
Blisa watches as Ferdinand nods and walks over to Statler, Waldo, and Hank. The ferret quietly gives them some instructions. They groan, but comply. The 4 males begin to move the wagon, filled with the Chieftain of Ferravale's irreplaceable belongings, over to the firepit. Clarissa and Cerah come dashing out of the main Abbey building as if they were being chased by something dangerous. Upon seeing what's going on, they eagerly go to help set up the tent over by the firepit. DoraRose, after giving the cowering Basil one last good poke, wanders off to help. Valerie digs out some cheese and gives it to the snake, who scoffs it while LilyMoore watches, fascinated. They are over by Benar and Blisa in the entryway. The cat looks up at the squirrel. "We also have the body of a loyal guard. May we....bury him here? His name was Bill. And.....I'll keep in mind what you said about Oz, and I'll be sure to keep Basil out of the Infirmary." She looks inconsolable still.
Benar listens and nods" Yes...I don't see a problem with burying Bill in the abbey grounds...and as said Oz just needs rest, it's been rather hard to keep the dibbuns out of the infirm, but Zee is helping with that.....I have not heard of there being any problems" That he knows of.
"For the love of all that's sane in this world, why is there a SNAKE in the Abbey?" Lacota come upon the scene like a storm cloud on a sunny day. "Is everybeast bereft of their senses? What is the meaning of this?"
Blisa glares at the Friar. "I just lost my /father/ to a maniac and the Abbot graciously let my pet come inside the Abbey. Go eat a--" "Hey, Blisa, do you have a cheesebun in your bag?" Valerie quickly interrupts. LilyMoore hides behind Basilisk and peeps at the Friar from her hiding place. The rest of the group is setting up a tent over by the firepit.
Benar frowns and walks over "Please every beast calm down, stress levels are already high. We have a insane wildcat who has mentioned he will be back and has yes mentioned war on the abbey and thanks to the wildcat we almost lost our badger father" He takes a deep breath "The snake is to stay with Blisa and I do not believe will cause problems, perhaps it will cause vermin to rethink trying to take over my abbey"
Lacota waves a paw dismissively. "Bah, let them try. Cowardly fools, the lot of them..." He sighs. "I am deeply sorry, Blisa, to hear about your father... It was a shock to us all..." The squirrel looks at Benar. "If it comes to war, so be it, I suppose... If only Camp Willow could help..." He shakes his head. "We could use it."
Blisa is still scowling as she digs out a cheese bun for her pet, who is watching the Friar in a creepy manner. He needs food. "I doubt Camp Willow would help us....Ferravale is a vermin village, and the otters of that holt don't seem to appreciate that some of us are not evil. Not that I blame them...." LilyMoore goes to help set up the tent. Valerie digs in her herb bag, looking for something. The young cat roughly brushes a paw across her eyes to drive away the tears brought up by the Friar's words about her father. "I hope one of Zurrgg's beasts /tries/ to come in here.....I haven't let Basil eat anybeast for a while...." The snake perks up considerably. "Can I eat the beasssssst who killed Poppa cat?" "Yes, you may," is the cat's gracious (if vengeful) answer.
Benar frowns at the talk of eating beasts, "Lets not talk of...eating beasts please. There is a lot of fish in the pond Basil can eat"
Lacota frowns. "Perhaps not... It's little point speculating now, though..."
Blisa has gone unresponsive again. Valerie starts murmuring to her as Basil slithers forward. "Sssssss, but beassssstsssssss are deliciousssssssssss......how many fisssssh are in the pond? Are they big? Can I have cheessssssse to go with them?" He has this thing about cheese.
Lacota narrows his eyes. "My cheese is special... I *might* let you have a ration of cheese... Maybe. We'll see."
Benar blinks"Your snake likes...cheese?" He finds this odd and curious. He sighs a little "This will take some getting use to, we also need to see whom is willing to help fight Zurrgg. And who is not "
"I'll help fight Zurrgg." DoraRose has arrived! She just don't trust that thar snake. "I'll fight him. NOBEAST hurts or kills my friends and gets away with it! You have my axe, Blisa.....Blisa?" The cat still has yet to respond. Basil was about to give the Frair a 'hug', but upon seeing the feline just staring off at nothing, gives her an actual, gentle hug instead. Valerie sighs and looks up at the Abbot. "Basil puts cheese on everything.....and Blisa's been like this since her father died. I.....don't know if she'll ever snap out of it."
Lacota nods. "I'm sure there are plenty beasts here that are willing to help."
Benar nods "Yes...there is Zee...though I am unsure he should, he wants to I know but his shoulder injury. There is maybe Flicktail as well"
Valerie stands up, a sleeping Blisa in her arms. "She fell asleep. I think I'm going to take her over to where the others are. Good evening." Ad they leave, with Basil following, whining something about the juicy squirrel not giving him cheese. DoraRose grimaces and looks at the squirrels. "He almost tried to squish you, Lacota. Are you /sure/ having him /inside/ the Abbey is a good idea, Benar?"
Benar looks over at Basil and hmms "For now...I need to check on Oz, of you need anything ask an order beast" He then walks towards the infirm.
Lacota shakes his head. "No, not a good idea... But what can I do?" He sighs. "I need to get dinner ready, I'm afraid... Are you coming in, too?"
After thinking for a few moments, Dora shaes her head. "No, I'll come in when it's served. I feel Blisa needs all the friends around her that she can get. But thanks anyway. See ya later." The Warrior Gatekeeper goes back to the group. They'll come in when the food is served. Except for maybe Blisa and Basil. But food will be brought too them at that time.
