Between Chores
Characters: Aikuen, Ella, Venei, William
Location: Moledeep
Moledeep: Mole Hall
Three. Yes Three otters. Ah ah ah. Are sitting in Molehall today. Aik, Ella, and Venei. All sitting around and or on top of the table. Aikuen in his blue spring tunic, and the little ones in their many many bows. Which Aik refuses to wear one. sorry kids. Aik is learning another one of his hobbies that he has been trying out. Wood burning it seems. At least, that's what the book he has in front of him says. Ella is sitting near him on the table, with a shiny coin on it, rolling it around. Venei has drifted of to sleep in Aik's lap, and he pets her while he reads.
William walk into Mole Hall carrying the flower vase he and Venei had made. The paint has since dried and a few pawfuls of 'flowers' have found their way into the vase. Will sets the green vase down on the table near Aik but just out of reach of the twins in an attempt to keep it in one piece a little longer than should be expected.
Ella watches Will enter from her perch on the table, she waves a paw and exclaiming, "WillllllllllllllllllllllllYum!" That gets the fathers attention and he smiles at the rat, "Oh. Hey Will." he tilts his head at the vase, "...Umm. Very nice." he chuckles at the vase and flowers. Apparently Venei didn't tell Aik about the vase she and Will made.
"Venei made it th other day," the rat says scruffing Ella's head as he passes her. The vase looks a little too well made to have been made by the little otter alone but it's not as fancy as some of Will's other work. It's a very simple little green vase and the blue grey swirlies all over it were clear done by the little otter with minimal assistance.
Aikuen ohs and chuckles at the vase, "Ah. Okay. That's why. Heh. I was wondering what happened..." he rubs her behind the ear, "Good for her... Hopefully she wasn't a too much of a pain." he winks at Will, "...Its looks pretty good considering. Did she way who it was for?" Ella blinks at the vase, and some plans cross her mind. She mmms a the scuffing, going to 'fix' her bow. Before staring at the vase.
William says, "I did help her a little with make it but she did all the painting by herself. Next time I'll pick the clay for her since after it's painted you can't see what color it is underneath too much anyway."
Aikuen nods, "Ah. Well I assume so. Unless she is just naturally good at potter-izing" he snorts, "... And it seems to have good circles on it." he nods a bit more, not really knowing much about pottery, "Uhhh... Right. But it looks alright anyway."
William shrugs, "Well she's still a little young to use th wheel without help but without it who knows."
Aikuen chuckles, "Well she might be. Heh. But all that she has been talking about is swimming lately." Venei hrms in her sleep, "Soon-soon" he laughs. Ella perks up at the mention swiming, "Uhhhh Dad! When are we gonna go swimmin'..." Aik sighs, "Soooooon dear." he chuckles at her.
Robin and Christopher both come in. Chris is being carried on Robin's shoulders while napping. Robin smiles and gives a slow wave with his good paw. "Hey everyone." he greets quietly as not to wake the sleeping stoat on his shoulders.
William waves at the stoats as they enter. "Swiming?" he ask Ella teasingly, "Why would you want to go swimming?"
Ella is really surprised, "Swimmins'! Cause its fun. And im an otter. And i likes it." she giggles, "Is funs... Hey stoaties!" she waves. Aik smiles and nods at the stoats, "Kentar and ikkle Chris." he smirks.
Robin hrms a little bit at the otters as he sets Chris down in a chair. "Wrong stoat, Fira. That's Robin." he winks with a laugh.
Aikuen blinks at the stoat, going to rub his eyes, "Holy... Wow..." he frowns a little bit. He is getting old.
"Yes lucky you," Will smirks keeping watch on the only awake dibbun.
Robin chuckles a little and nods. "Lucky?" He asks, tilting his head as he sits down in one of the nice comfortable chairs. "So. Did I walk in on anything important?" he asks with a smile.
Aikuen slowly pats the sleeping Venei, putting his book aside 'Basic arts and crafts' back on the table, near where Ella and the vase are, "Nah. Just being lazy today. Not many chores considering. Not yet at least." he chuckles, "So. How was the excursion yesterday?"
Robin smiles and chuckles. "Ah, well. Don't involve me in any of those chores." he smirks. "I have my little brother to look after. That's a chore enough." the stoat then hrms. "Oh, it went really well. We found this little spot near the river with a tiny little waterfall." he smiles. "Perfect spot for camping I think."
Aikuen chuckles, "Hey. And watching two little nuts?..."
"WE are not nuts..." Ella frowns and crosses her arms.
Aik rolls his eyes, "Well. Their awful as well." But him an Fira have learned to split the chore of kid sitting. Its not too bad anyway. Most of the time, "Oh really? Oh that sounds just wonderful." he grins, "I really cant wait. I love camping..." he hrms.
Robin nods and then smiles. "It will be Christopher's first camping trip." he nods. "Kentar is really, really excited about that." he chuckles. "And it will be the twin's first camping trip too wont it?" he chuckles. "We should get Kluna to capture the moments in some of his drawings." he nods.
William says, "Of course you're not a nut." He moves his paw just over Ella's head as if measuring her, "You're much too big to be a nut. .... Maybe you're a watermelon." he lightly taps her head.
Aikuen nods, "Yep. I heard him. Nearly bouncing off the walls he was. And oh aye. Actually, this would be there first time to be outdoors extensively." Ella frowns again, "I've been outside..." "Oh Aye. Extensively means... Well. Alot." he chuckles, "Aye. Lets see if we can."
Ella frowns at dad with his big words before looking to Will, "Whats a watermelons?" she asks nipping at the poke with a smile.
William pulls his paw away. "It's a big green fruit with green stripes that about as big as you. Sometimes they're sold at th markets in summer," Will explains adding to what Robin's already said. "How long are we going to be gone? I thought we were going to head west this season and buy a ship."
Ella blinks at both Robin and Will before shrugging slightly, "... I has to see it." But summer is so far away. She will probably forget. She hrms, "I'm nota fruit!" Aik tweaks her rudder, "You are, and you know it!" he smirks before looking back at Robin, "How about... In a week?" then to Will, "We stay a few weeks until we are all tired or bored. As for the ship well..." he rubs his chin, "... Well wait a few weeks after that, then go look for it. Its not like the boats are gonna leave without us." he chuckles.
Robin nods and chuckles a little bit. "A week seems good." the stoat then hrms. "Buying a boat?" he asks, tilting his head. "Was I not told about a new home or something?" he asks.
William nods, "Ok." He looks over to Robin, "We're all going t th west coast an buy a ship and do some traveling on it for a while. Pa an .... an I thought up th idea seasons ago but never got around to doing it so we finally decided t do it sometime this season."
Aikuen continues, "Aye. And it's not a new home. At least. Not yet. It's just for fun. I always wanted my own boat, ever since i was a young otter." he chuckles.
"They're gonna call it the Ella!" Ella chirps in.
Aik chuckles, "That's what YOU wanted it to be called."
Ella says, "Same thing dad."
Aik shakes his head.
Robin huhs and ohs. "Really?" he asks, tilting his head. "Cool. So why didn't anyone tell me we were going west?" he asks. "And is it...all of us?"
William shrugs, "We wont be going for a while still. We'd have told you when we were gonna get ready t go."
Aikuen nods, "Yes... Most, everyone here is going. I think it will be fun. I can feel the ocean spray now!" he laughs, "And we would have though Kentar would have told you by now." he snorts.
Robin shrugs. "He probably did. Probably forgot about it while away." he chuckles with a nod. "Anyways. It seems fun. I'm looking forward to it now. I've never been that far west." he smiles.
William says, "I've only been once but it's fairly nice over there."
Aikuen snorts, "I think i've been there... for about a season. When i first stepped on this country." he snorts, "Its very nice. I'm glad to be going back to that sea again." he smiles and goes back to petting his daughter.
Robin nods slowly. "I like sailing. It was nice back home on the seas before Bale wanted to find dad." he nods. "I miss the waters. Will be wonderful to be on a ship again." he chuckles before grinning. "I'm sure the twins and Chris will love it too."
William says, "Wonder what Kluna will think of it. He hasn't had the best of experiences with ships far as I know."
Aikuen nods, "I'm sure they will. Though. I think, they better not jump off the ship." he eyes Ella, "Im watching you!" Ella shrugs. Aik continues, "Im not sure. But i bet if we keep away from all things pirety. I guess he might actually like it." he shrugs, "I hope at least.
The stoat shrugs and hrms. "I don't know. I'll probably get dad to talk to him about it sometime." he nods before looking to Chris. "I probably should put him to a proper bed." he chuckles then ohs and snaps his fingers. "Will, there was something mum and dad asked me to ask you. Do you think you can find a room around Moledeep for Chris? He's getting too big to share theirs. And I wouldn't mind having one either, the sleeping hall isn't very private." he chuckles.
Will sighs, "In th sleeping hall near th infirm there are two doors. One is a closet th other opens to a hallway and all along that hallway are empty rooms. The really big one at the end of the hall is taken. Any of th others are free t whoever wants em but they haven't been used since before I found this place so you may need t clean em up some.
Aikuen just listens to the both of them, as the waking Venei awakes from her nap, "Well hello darling!" he smirks at her.
She rubs her eyes, and yawns loudly. Before flopping back against her dad.
Aik snirks, and look to Ella, "Your sis..."
"I know!" she giggles.
Robin smiles bright and nods. "Thanks Will! I'll probably take a look at the rooms tomorrow and clean a couple of them up for Chris and then one for me. Probably do it up nice too." he hrms a bit before shrugging and standing. He moves over to Chris and then hrms again, trying to figure out how to get the smaller stoat onto his shoulders without using his bad arm. "This was much easier when he was awake." he chuckles. After doing a little bit of experimenting, he manages it without waking up the stoat. "Ah. There we go. Anyways. I'll see you guys later." he nods, waving and heading off to return the sleeping Chris to bed.
William nods and waves at the stoats as they leave. "Hey dozypaws," he chuckles at Venei as she tries to go back to sleep.
Venei grumbles, "I'm tireds... Let me go back to sleeps..." she hums trying to bury her face back into Aik's fur, waving a 'get away' paw at the rat.
Aik waves at the stoats as well, "See yah stoaties..." he smiles before looking back at Venei, "You have to get up, sooner or later..."
Venei growls, "NOES"
William sighs and drops down into a chair still keeping his eye on Ella. Never know what an awake little otter could get into if she's not watched especially a pikefish otter. "Don't see why you an Mum haven't taken th twins swimming yet. It is getting warmer. thought you wanted t go outside soon as th snow was gone?"
Aikuen chuckles at Venei, "Wake up!" no luck. He smirks at Will, "Your not an otter. Nor been around that long. Even though its spring... It takes awhile to heat up the water... Have you felt the pond? The water is just as cold as it was during the winter. Just not icy anymore. We were actually planing to go today. Cold or not. BUT. Fira is late with her chores. That's why i'm stuck with both nuts." Ella is close to the vase, just eying it right now. Her coin long forgotten.
"I know it's cold but thought you'd go out there anyway. Seems like something you'd do," the rat bluffs though he should have known the water wouldn't be warm enough yet for the twins or otters not named Aikuen.
Aikuen chuckles, "Oh. I have already gone swimming... Reason why I know its so cold!" he grins, "And I'm ready. Fira is ready as well. Though she worries for the twins that it might be too cold."
Ella says, "I don't cares! Swimmins!"
"Well. We care Ella." he nods, "But we'll see today. You're welcome to come along as well, Will." he laughs. He then hands the book to Ella, "Come on sweety. Lets see if we can find your mum, and bug her to death." he laughs, getting up, carrying Venei into the Sleeping hall.
