Characters: Aikuen, Flicktail, Under(NPC), William
Location: Moledeep
Moledeep: Vegetable Garden
Flicktail comes in just a whistling as he strolls along swinging a young mole dibbun in his arms safe as can be
Aikuen is working in the field. His belt with the seeds on, a hoe in his paw, and a funny looking hat on his head. Fira and the twins off somewhere. When he hears the beast approach he goes to lean on the tool, his paw reaching for his sword. When he sees the white fox of Flicky he smiles and waves, "Hello Flicky.. How..." he stops mid sentence at the babe, "Well... Who do we have here?" he asks, pointing at the mole dibbun.
Flicktail smiles "Oh oi calles im under...e be a dibbun wot's parents were killed in a cave in..so Oi be takinc are o him" he smiles "isn't e loverly?' the mole doesn't havehis eyes open and yawns and streches..smallpaws waving
Aikuen places the hoe on the ground, dusting his paws, and heading over to the fox, "OH really? Thats really sad..." he reaches out and tickles the little ones nose, "He is just darling. Really." chuckling at the dibbun.
The Dibbun feels the tickle and reache sout to try and suckle on the finger...his little paws pullin. FLicktain grins and nods "oi loves dibbuns cn't gets enough or them, um even when they be puttin maple syrup in me fur and tiein me up
Aikuen snorts and pulls back a little on his finger, but if the dibbun wants too suck on it. He will let him. He makes an akward face at the fox, "... You are a very good caregiver Flicky." he smiles, "I love kids too. But i wont do that!"
Flicktail smiles as the dibbun is still toothless and seems to like the salt on yer finger "Oi just be a beast nuttin more...how ye be? Oi see ya ave a mighty fine hoe there....
Aikuen pulls a little more at the dibbun. His finger isn't going down without a fight, "Heh. Right you are Flicky. And me? Im doing just great. The kids are growing up. First swimming recently. Took to water like fish they did." he laughs, "Thanks. Just doing a little farming. Cant be living off Redwall forever, you know!" he chuckles.
Flicktail nods as the dibbun is very egarly gumming your finger..tugging FLicky nods "oi loikes platin but me favorite be e orchard..ye knows how ta grow walnuts?
Aikuen nods, "We don't have an orchard here, sadly. Excepts for the random apple tree in the forest. And sorry. I don't. I know they grow on trees though..." he lets the mole dibbun gnaw on his finger.
The dibbun drools heavily, and coos as FLicktainnods "would ye loikes some treees? and are ye commin to e big festival this thursday?
Aikuen ergs a bit at the drool, and finally pulls out his finger. Wiping and tickling the mole on his velvet soft belly. He looks to Flicky with a tilt head, "Umm. Never really thought of growing tree. But hey. Why not! And Festival? What Festival?" he asks, puzzled.
Flicktail says, "thursday (about noon Muck time ) at e abby we are avin a sping festival...tells beasts abouts it woudl ye? Fr Lormis will be ere"
the mole cools and it's 4 limbs go every wich way, a toothless smile on it's face
Aikuen leans on one of his footpaws, "Oh really? Yah sure ill tell everyone. We might be there. Have to see first. But if we can, we will!" he snorts at the dibbun, "May i?" he reaches out for the kid.
Flicktail says, "bring e children lots of games includin tie up e abby champion and dunk im in syrup :)"
Flicktail hands over the dibbun
Aikuen reaches out and takes the dibbun, rocking him in his arm, "Well, well, well. A mole at Moledeep." he tickles the belly, "You must be the first mole here in many seasons. Aren't you lucky?" he laughs, "Flicky. If we can go. We will go. Thursday? Right then. Might be good for the kids to get out to see Redwall for the first time." he hands back the dibbun after jumping him in his arm, "Here yah go mate."
Flicktail says, "aye Thusday at e Abby lots of fun....if ya knows any good parents at wont a mole....but that as ta be good....!"
Aikuen chuckles, "Well. Maybe he will find a home soon. If not, im sure you will make a great uncle till he is old enough!" he smirks.
Flicktail wavies and heads off to find alnt trees with his dibbun
Aikuen waves at the fox as he leaves, "See yah Flicky. You can bring that little one around anytime. Might be good for him!" he waves before going back to his lonely hoe, and goes about seeding the ground. Wondering where is lovelys are
Later that day
Aikuen is still standing by the little patch of dirt, that is used for farming at Moledeep. The belt of seeds for spring set beside the watering can. The sounds of swimming and girly giggling can be heard from the pond, as the otter mother and Ella are there. While Aik and Venei are in the garden. If only she was awake to pay attention. Venei is laying on the ground against a nearby tree, on a cloth. She is obviously napping. Aik smiles at her as he walks through the patch picking at weeds, and other plants.
William comes out into the garden from the direction of the kiln, little surprise really with the nice weather they've been having the last few days. The rat tilts his head at the old otter, "Same crops as last year or different?" he asks.
Aikuen leans down with a little difficulty, pulling at a strange plant, "Huh?" he looks up, "Hey Will-Will!" he chuckles, and then laughs, "Nonono. See. We had summer seeds, then fall seeds...." he points to the belt, "These are spring seeds. Turnips. potatoes... That kinda thing. And of course the obligatory Hotroot." the otter tosses the funny looking plant out of the patch
William ahs nodding and smiling, "Can't forget th important ones. We'll need lots of hotroot. The more there is the better chance some will be left after all you otters have your share. And th twins can eat a lot."
Aikuen snorts, "Well of course. Their parents loves hotroot. Just comes natural to them!" he sighs kicking a rock. Where did that come from? "We'll try to be better at it... Not really.' he laughs, "Here. Can you help me..." he points to the random plants.
William says, "I'll try." He never has quite gotten the hang of this farming thing. He understand why they have to do it that's simple but it doesn't make him good at it. "Which plants do I need to rip out?" he asks figuring the otter is either harvesting or weeding maybe both.
Aikuen chuckles, pointing at all the plants here and there, "Pretty much everything. These are everything that survived winter and blooms during the first weeks of spring. Mostly weeds..." he nods, "Just get it all... And the rocks too. Cant have those" he smirks.
William says, "Ok" and gets to work pulling up plants and piling rocks. Maybe the rocks could be used for a 'fence' of sorts around the garden. Maybe not.
Aikuen watches him work for a little bit before going at the ground with a hoe, "Very good..." he starts to make lines up and down the patch. He hums for a little bit before saying, "OH. Before i forget. Flicky came by. A few hours ago actually." he says.
William looks up interested, "Really what'd he have t say?" He rolls a large rock out on the garden as he waits for the otter's answer. "No bad news I hope."
Aikuen goes to lean on the tool for a moment as he explains, "Nah, its just regular news. He just came by to tell us about some sort of festival goin' on at the abbey. Im guessing its for spring." that would makes since, "He also brought with him a little mole dibbun that last its parents to a cave in." he nods sadly for a moment.
"Cave ins are bad," Will says softly remembering the stories he'd been told about such things as well as the abandoned tunnel not far from Moledeep.
Aikuen nods, going back to making lines in the ground, "Yep. Very bad." he nods a bit more, "But glad he was found early enough, and found a nice caretaker." he chuckles.
William nods smiling a little. "So Flicky just stopped by to invite us to th Abbey's latest feast and show off his newest dibbun?" he ask his smile spreading into a grin.
Aikuen pulls at his chin, "Apparently so. I was thinking he has some news about the other fox. Guess not." he shrugs, "Oh, its on Thursday. If you want to go." he shrugs again. He doesn't see the smile.
William says, "I don't think I have any plans for Thursday already. .... I'll check with Amy after supper just in case though. Haven't been to th abbey in a long while."
Aikuen nods, "Then i will check with Fira as well. I see no problem. Might go camping a few days after that as well. Sorry Kentar!" he laughs, "It will be good for the little ones. First trip. Practice for the camping trip. So. It will be good!"
William says, "Also more food then they've ever seen before and many other dibbuns for them to wreck havoc with."
Aikuen snorts, "Well. That too. Just don't tell them that. I want to show that my dibbuns are growing up to be respectable beasts. Not the typical otter thing. Though the chance of that ACTUALLY happening is slim to nill..." he smirks at Venei.
William chuckles, "I doubt they'll need to be told." He pulls the few remaining plants Aik had wanted removed and sets them aside. "I think I'm done." he says stepping back to let his father inspect his work on the garden.
Aikuen nods a bit, "I know I know. Its Fira you know that? She is just as worse as they are. Great influence she is..." he sighs with a laughs, before going to look at the progress, "Ah yes. Very good..." he points at the belt, "Okay. Next look for orange looking seeds. Should be the one on the far left..." He goes to finish this row.
William shakes his head at the otter's remark. "Really? Are you sure it's all Mum's doing? I know she can be silly but you aren't exactly 'Mr. Serious' you know." The picks up an end of the seed belt and pulls on it to spread the belt out more as he starts to look through each pouch for the orange seeds. "What do the orange ones turn into? Hope it's hotroot. Seems like they'd be orange if anything was."
Aikuen stick his tongue at him, "Yeah yeah. That's what SHE says. I guess that's right then..." he snorts a bit, "Aye. The orange ones are hotroot seeds. Careful with them. Don't touch your eye for a while after handling them. Burns like hellgates they will." he laughs.
William locates the proper seeds and takes them a few at a time from the pouch to one paw. He nods at the otter's advice, "Alright. How many do you need?"
"Ok," Will says popping a seed into the first hole and then one into the next. He may need to come back and get more seeds if he runs out he only has so many in his paw.
Aikuen smiles at him before going back to work, "Very nice. Soon im gonna make you do this all by yourself!" he chuckles and nods, "When you are finish up there, we can go in for tea time..." the he wonders about telling him about Fira. They are not sure if it's true... But. He shakes his head, "Nevermind." he says aloud, "You're doin good..." he stops.
William groans and huhs as he doesn't really have any wish to be a farmer anymore than he already is. The huh is directed at the otter, "Nevermind what?" he asks.
Aikuen chuckles at the groan, "You like eating, now don't yah? Better get used to it..." he grins and then blinks, "Uhh... Oh..." he didn't realize he said anything. Then he gulps, "Nothing. Nothing... Really." Not yet. Tell him later, "...Uhh... Come on... That's enough for today..." he goes over to the tree with Venei, placing the hoe on the tree. Before leaning down and wrapping Venei in her little blanket, "Come on my sweet."
"Uh ok. You still want me to finish this?" Will asks a little puzzled but he wont push the otter for information. It's probably nothing and if he's wrong well everybeast's allowed their secrets now and then. Aren't they?
Aikuen nods at Will, "Yah. Thanks. We'll finish the rest of it tomorrow." he nods a bit more before heading into Molehall, talking to Venei, "Still don't know yet..." he sighs, and nuzzles his daughter before disappearing into the ground.
William nods as Aik and Ve head in but stay behind to finish what planting the seeds. Less work to do tomorrow is the idea. Once that's done he closes up the hotroot pouch on the seed belt and goes off to scrub his paws as an extra precaution against burning eyes as Aik hadn't said how long he needed to wait after touching the seeds before being able to touch his face again.
