A Dibbun in the Garden of Salamanersting....I mean, Salamandastron :D
Salamandastron: Garden
- -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
The garden of Salamandastron is nestled neatly into the mountainside. It is
quite cleverly arranged, hidden from passer-bys on the beach below by being
situated on the lee side of a large outcropping of rock. Upon reaching the
garden from the craggy path above, one first comes upon a pleasing grassy
area, with stone benches situated here and there and a little section of
cobblestones where the leverets have chalked out hop scotch squares and
other such youthful games.
The garden itself is arranged in tiers, four separate levels which step
down the slope of the mountainside. A path cuts down the center of each
tier, as well as wrapping around each, for easy access of gardening. The
tiers appear to be organized by what's growing; the top consisting of berry
bushes, the second vegetables, the third herbs, and the fourth a small
orchard of fruit trees.

Visible Exits:
[C]limb the Path
Hares: Windrose, female. Felicity (AKA Lissie) and Julia (AKA Jules and Julie), females.
Badgers: Ciocan (AKA big bajjer), male.
Windrose has decided to help in the gardens today, as there is a time one is off duty and this is what she wanted to do today, help in the gardens by picking some veggies and placeing them in baskets to store for later
Felicity has also decided to help in the garden, although how much of a help she'll be is a mystery, since she has also brought her little sister. The leveret has the same auburn fur as the older doe, but everything about her is average-sized. Her green eyes wide and innocent-looking, a smile on her face, Julia looks to be about a season and a half old. She is wearing a blue dress with a blue bow around her left ear, and she is carrying a little bunny doll whose clothes match its owners. The pair of auburn hares enters the garden, the Dibbun chattering about something and the Runner smiling indulgently at her. The older doe is wearing a red tunic and very old-looking green pants.
Windrose looks over and waves, and then goes back to picking some green beans and placing them in a basket and stops when its full, "It's a good day today for this, wot?"
Felicity waves and leads her little sister over to the other hare. "Aye, 'tis. This is my sistah, Julia. Say 'hi', Jules!" The Dibbuns giggles. "Hi! Whas YOUW name?" The leveret hugs her dolly close and bounces on her toes as she asks this. Lissie smiles and starts helping pick green beans from the other side of the plant.
Windrose smiles "I am Windrose, a runner here and its nice to meet you"
Julia smiles even wider, showing off her pearly white teeth. "Are you a Wong Patwol Wunner like Lissie???" She holds out her dolly and asks, without waiting for the answer to her first question, "Do you like my dolly? Lissie made her dwess." Felicity continues to help pick veggies nearby, listening as her baby sister makes a new friend.
Windrose chuckles and nods" I am in the long patrol yes, my father use to be but he left. I visit him sometimes in town"
Felicity looks sad as her sister says, "Youw Daddy still awive? My Daddy died like a Wawiow. He bwave. So was Mammy and Davie." She hugs her doll to her chest. She obviously is repeating what she believes, which is what her sister has told her over and over again.
Windrose frowns "I...am sorry, My mom died and a brother and sister. My dad let me stay in the long patrol with the promise to visit every 3-4 weeks."
Julia steps closer to her new friend. Being a Dibbun, she doesn't know how to respect someone's personal space. "/I/ wanna be in da Wong Patwol. Did /you/ aways wanna be a Wunner??" Because preschoolers are the experts of random subject changes. Felicity has filled a bushel basket, and now goes to get another.
Windrose says, "I was curious of it and I run very fast so that's where they placed me" She doesn't seem to care too much if the dibbun is close and smiles "Your need to wait a few seasons till can join the Patrol and be very very sure that's what you want to do in life, my father quit but he had his reasons, I am sure he still help if there was ever a needed, he was a fighter"
Julia pouts slightly. "But I wanna be a Fightew like Mammy!" She then goes to hug the haremaid's arm. "I wike you." Felicity hurries forward, arms outstretched. "Julie, please respect other beast's space! I don't think miss Windrose wants you all up in 'er face, wot!" The Dibbun sniffles and wails something about her new friend.
Windrose smiles "Its ok, she isn't hurting anyone, but yes some may dislike someone so close to them, so it is good to be careful if one is busy." She lets another hare take her basket of green beans away, she didn't do too much today but every little bit helps.
Felicity shrugs and goes back to picking food nearby. Julia, after glaring at her sister for a few minutes, looks back at her new friend and asks, "Why somebeaststs norra like hugs?"
Windrose says, "I don't know, I meet beasts who were moody and one beast this one time who was scared of everyone and think his own shadow, it was funny but also sad"
Felicity smiles as her little sister giggles. "Why was 'e scawed of 'is shadow? Thas silly!!" Lissie has her latest basket half filled now.
Windrose shrugs "Who knows." She smiles again, "But hopefully your never have to be afraid of anything and your be safe from any troubles"
"Wha' twoubles could bover us 'ere in Salamanersting?" Felicity stifles a chuckles at Julia's mispronunciation of Salamandastron. Dibbuns are also experts at not knowing how to pronounce words and then making up their own way of saying the word.
Windrose says, "I don't know, but the sea shores may not always be safe and I am not so sure of that village nearby"
Felicity looks up at her fellow Runner. "Oh? 'As anythin' suspicious 'appened there recently? I was there for the first time myself a little over a week ago." Julia tucks her dolly into her belt and rips a leaf off of a green bean plant as she says, "Da sheashores awn't as safe as Sanamadastwing!" It's pronounced Salamandastron, you silly little leveret.
Windrose hmmms "There was a fight in the tavern once, but the two beasts were drunk, other than that nothing odd or out of place, just always safe to be careful and stay alert is all"
Julia continues to pick leaves off of the green bean plant. Felicity nods, unable to see what her sister's doing right now. "Okay. Yes, 'tis a vermin village, isn't it?"
Windrose does try to distract the dibbun "I wouldn't take too many leaves off now, the plant needs some after all and I am unsure what sort of village it is, my father lives there and I know a couple other hares do as well I think"
Julia pouts a little as she asks, "Why da plant need weaves??" Felicity decides that the other hare has a good handle on the situation, and instead says, "So.....'tis more of a mixed village, I'm guessin'."
Windrose shrugs "Maybe, I only go to visit my father once every couple weeks and not had any trouble, maybe cause of being in the Long Patrol, don't know. No one bothers my father either and he lives there"
Julia goes to tug on her new friend's sleeve. "Why plants need weaves???!" Felicity nods, and returns to picking veggies. "Thank you, Windrose. I really don't know much about Halyard. Julie, please be polite. She'll answer you after she's done talkin'. Be patient."
Windrose smiles, yes why do they need leaves, hmmmmm..."Well the leaves help keep the veggies on and it helps the plant look nice and say hey I am ready to give food to you." Well that's a good answer right? Hey she is just helping to pick the green beans and some peas, that's all.
"Oh." Julia starts trying to figure out how to stick the leaves back on. Felicity goes back to picking lettuce.
Windrose chuckles "I don't think the leaves go back on..."
Ciocan is walking slowly down the side of the mountain, not really looking at the garden or the hares in it just staring out over the shore and the mountains beyond. The wind tugs at the badgers kilt as he pauses near the entrance of the gardens and just stares off into the distance.
A leveret, whose fur colouration is remarkably similar to Felicity's, looks up at Windrose, her green eyes sad. "Why not?" She is wearing a blue dress and a blue bow around her left ear, and she has a bunny doll in a matching dress tucked into her belt. She has yet to notice the badger, being about a seasons and a half old, and hence having a very 1 track mind...and being shorter than the green beans they're beside. Felicity is in her off-duty clothes, picking eggplants, her back to the entrance the badger has entered by.
Windrose blinks "Well....once the leaves are off they are sort of off..." She does notice the badger and waves "Good day sur!" Yes she is cheerful today it seems, "How are you today?"
Ciocan doesn't seem to hear Windrose for a moment then looks down at her and blinks, "Oh Windrose, aye ahm doing foine thank ye, I was just... watchin tha winter."
Felicity starts and looks behind her. Spotting the Badger Lord, she straightens, salutes, and about falls over. "Sah!" She gets no farther before her baby sister peeks around the green beans, gasps, and dashes over to him, shouting, "Bajjer! You a big bajjer!" She stands at his feet and stares up at him, looking for all the world like a tiny pebble next to a mountain. "I Julia. Was YOUW name??"
Windrose tilts her head, "Tis till fall...yeah and winter is later. How can you..watch winter or least she thinks she heard him right. She looks at the dibbun as it runs forwards, "Don't run, falling could hurt and be like ouch."
Ciocan stares down at the tiny leveret and stares at her, "Aye, ah'm a badger, my name, it is Ciocan yer ken?" he then turns his head, dark eyes focusing on Windrose, "Tha wintah is thar if'n yer look."
Windrose shrugs, "I...guess, winter is ok, well sometimes it's ok depends on where your at and how much or how little snow there is around"
Julia giggles and goes to sit on his foot. "You wike my dolly?" She holds up the bunny doll for him to look at. Felicity stands and holds out her paws to her sister. "Jules, please remember to respect beasts personal space, please! Come here, please." The Dibbun wails something about the 'big bajjer' and goes to cling to his leg. Lissie suppresses a grumpy comment and says calmly, "I know you want to be his friend, but I don't think the bid bajjer---dah!" She pinches the bridge of her nose and continues in an even tone, "I don't think M'Lord Ciocan wants you sittin' on 'is foot! Come 'ere, please!"
Ciocan asks, "Nah it is foine," he reaches down and gently, carefully plucks the tiny hare up and sits her in the palm of his hand, "'ello lil' one, so are you goin' tae be growin' up ta be one of my hares?" He looks at the others and smiles, "Tha young ones are as important as any other when it comes ta makin' frends."
Windrose smiles, "Friends are always important, they help out and always try to be there for one another"
Julia had been about start throwing a tantrum when the badger picks her up. She gazes into his eyes and giggles. "I wanna be in da Wong Patwol! You wike my dolly?" She holds out the toy for him to look at. It's made out of brown cloth and is stuffed with nutshells of some sort, and has embroidered blue eyes and a pink nose. Felicity twines her fingers nervously. "Well, alright, Sah, if you're okay with her bein' all in your space."
Ciocan asks, "Aye, it is ein a good doll 'lil one," he sets her back down on the ground and crouches, "Nah then shall we tolk? Why do a wee one like you want to be in tha long patrol?"
Windrose listens quietly as she is curious as well.
Julia hugs her dolly close and says, "'Cause Mammy and Daddy and Davie wewe, and Lissie is. I wanna be a Wawiow wike da bajjer Stonepaw!" Felicity gets a sad look on her face as her baby sister mentions their dead family, but she adds to what her sister said. "I've been readin' her the history of the Mountain before bed, Sah. We just finished readin' about Lord Stonepaw. She's quite enamored with his story, Sah."
Ciocan says, "He was a brave badger, perhaps I will tell you tha story of one of tha other badgers who came before me"
Julia jumps up and down eagerly. "Yayayayayayayay!!!!!!" Felicity chuckles slightly at her sister's enthusiasm, then looks behind the badger. One of the Dibbun caretakers is behind him. The auburn doe smiles and says with syrupy cheerfulness, "Hey, Jules, guess what?! It's naptime!" The leveret gasps and darts past the badger and caretaker, shouting, "Nonononono, don't wanna take a nap!!!" The caretaker runs off after the Dibbun, and Lissie claps a paw to her brow. "Not again! Excuse me, Sah, Windrose. I gotta 'elp catch her!!" and she's off at a run, hoping to catch her little sister.
Ciocan turns and for a moment looks as if he is going to do something about the running leveret but then turns back and stares out at the horizon once again. "I am going ta continue ta look at the winter, I need... ta see."
Thanks for reading! :D [1]
