From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Forlen smiles slowly again and nods once more, looking relieved at that. Then he writes once again, 'Get them out of Redwall'. Then he shutters and squeals somewhat, a paw going to one of his knees. This only causes the weasel to squeal in pain again, whimpering now.

Flicktail cocks his head watching the weasel

Forlen stares down at his legs before looking up at you, and writes down his simple four letter word, 'PAIN'.

Flicktail nods "aye that much were obvious" he stillwatches he can't do much else

Forlen slowly puts his board down, his eyes closed tightly, even crying somewhat now. Slowly, he looks up at you, then shakily tries to write something, but his paw is too shaky that he can't, and so he just leans back, staring up at the ceiling.

Amethyst climbs the stairs up from the open ground to the infirmary. She'd hidden herself away in the rose garden part of the day leaving the healers from the order to tend to the sick. Working in the infirmary had left the rat with little time to practice her lute. While she did not mind being trained as a healer as it gave her some more useful skills it is not her preferred profession. The rat enters the infirm with her lute hanging around her neck and the edge of her borrowed habbit a little muddied from wandering a little too close to the pond.

Flicktail says, "ello Healer Ame."

Forlen looks to the rat, then whimpers as he reaches forward, lightly patting Flicktail's arm.

Flicktail asks, "Yes Forlen?"

Forlen points to his legs then to the healer, indicating she could help.

Amethyst does greet the fox or weasel right away. She removes her lute from around her neck and goes to store it in the healers' rooms or somewhere past there. There are a lot of rooms down that hall. Soon she's back and back to pulling out things for various patients. "Legs botherin' ya again?" she asks the weasel knowing someone will tell her if she's right or not.

Flicktail says, "Aye Ame...he be noddin, and whimperin..oi know ye kin elp im"

Forlen nods his head quickly to Amethyst first, then to Flicktail, hoping the fox will say something. The weasel whimpers though, a sure indicator.

Amethyst nods a bit. "Alright. I'll mix something up for him and I'll put it on even if his stops hurting before I'm done. It'll save me time."

You room-page, "Thanks."

Forlen, though still looking in pain, looks somewhat relieved that at least someone is doing something to help him. The weasel looks up to Flicktail and nods a thankyou.

Flicktail nods back to Forlen 'mebby in time they will eal so there be no pain.'

Forlen looks up to Flicktail, then slowly and shakily writes, 'Dont know'.

Flicktail says, "well bones mend, even if they don work...makes sense."

Amy says, "They mend to a point. When they've been smashed into little pieces they don't mend as well as just being snapped in half."

Forlen looks to Amethyst, looking pained just at that but nods, agreeing with her as he looks to Flicktail. Then he slowly writes, 'Pain hard. Not walking much worse.'

Flicktail says, "well they say Miracles Do appen, me fur turned white...if ya WANt ta walk keep workin at it"

Forlen looks very confused now at the fox. Forlen quickly writes down, 'Turned?'.

Flicktail says, "aye oi were a Red fox when oi come ere"

Flicktail says, "er red Otter"

Forlen looks amazed now instead of confused. 'How' he simply writes, staring at you.

Flicktail says, "when Martin told me e wouldn't drag me to e Dark Forrest and brought me is sword, Oi were so scared...me fur...becomed white"

"Shattered knees don't normally heal like that, fox. Short of cutting his legs off above th knees and makin' wooden legs for im he isn't likely. Even if he did go that route walking wouldn't be garenteed nor would living if something were t go wrong. For him t walk would be a real miracle. And even those in th old stories that got such miracles weren't as bad off as Forlen is," Amy says mixing up something to put on the weasel's joints. She half listens to the fox not saying anything else.

Flicktail shrugs "well we ave ta live with wot we got.”

Forlen frowns at Flicktail, nodding. Then he writes, 'Maybe you're fur turned white because another reason'. Then he looks saddly to Amethyst, nodding slowly to her as he closes his eyes, once again leaning his head back against his chair. Then seemingly overwhelmed with pain, emotion or both, he begins crying.

Flicktail says, "yta may be right..Oijust knowit appened after Oi saw martin....."

Flicktail offers a tissue.

Forlen sniffs as he opens his eyes, looking to Flicktail and taking the piece of cloth, crying in it for a moment, before he shakily writes, 'Maybe it's change, like this board whiped clean, you were forgiven for past'.

Flicktail says, "Well wotever it is...we make e best of it wot?"

Forlen looks up to Flicktail, writing again, 'Makes sense for you. I was punished you werent'.

Amethyst finishes mixing the oinment and walks toward the weasel's bed with the bowl in paw. "It'd help if you hold him while I put this on. He's not gonna like me poking at his knees again."

Forlen slowly looks to Amethyst, quickly grabbing hold of the armrests on his chair, as if bracing for what's about to come.

Flicktail looks like the evil black fox snotnose pinning the weasel to his chair from behind in a badger hug.

Forlen doesn't fight the hug as he only closes his eyes, knowing first that it'd be useless to fight Flicktail, and also knowing this will make his pain stop, at least for a while

Flicktail snugs.

Flicktail says, "You get im Ame" he says sympathetically trying to be humorous some."

Forlen squeals loudly when the healer does her job, but he laughs even though he whimpers when Flicktail makes his joke, leaning back into Flicktail's hug as he whimpers, his paws tightly gripping the armrests.

Amethyst wraps the weasel's sticky ointment smeared knees in fresh bandages and moves away to clean her paws off. "You can release him now," she says to the fox as she scrubs her paws.

Flicktail smiles "there see all better.”

Forlen whimpers but nods as he looks at his knees, smiling up at Flicktail and writes on the board, 'Tell her thank you I already feel better'.

Flicktail says, "you need Roslyn roudn more...E says thanke...but ou don unnerstand you can squeel why not make words?"

"His throat isn't injured, far as I know," the rat says.

Flicktail says, "see thts just like me Dibbuns."

Forlen reaches a paw up to his mouth, thinking. Then he shakes his head, not exactly knowing how to explain.

Flicktail looks to Ame for an explanation.

Forlen gets an idea and writes, 'Never was taught how. So, never was able to form words.'

Flicktail says, "well Redwall ther's no betterplace ta learn."

Forlen looks curiously to AAmethyst, then to Flicktail before writing, 'Think?'

Flicktail says, "o course."

Assuming the fox has been relaying the weasel's messages to the rat Amy is very surprised the weasel never learned to speak. "How old are you? In all this time hearing beasts talk you never tried it yourself?" she asks not understanding how this could be.

Flicktail will always tell Ame what is said.

Forlen looks to the rat then writes on his board, 'I was stolen when a baby. Locked in a room until 2 1/2 seasons. When I was let out, never learned. Kept quiet.'

Flicktail says, "well Roselynn kin trach yatoos"

Forlen looks a bit hopeful as he writes on his board 'Ask her if ok'. Then he tries to form a word, not being exactly successful. "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak ooooooooooooo." Then he writes on his board, 'That's thank you to Ame'.

Flicktail says, "he say thank you ame I heard it clear as a bell."

Amethyst nods a bi,. "He can work that with the liddle hare. Give em both somethin' t do."

Flicktail says, "aye thats why oi ad er come up ere..e looked liek they were good fer each other."
