Flicktail is laying in his cot looking at his 2 sleeping dibbuns.
Amethyst is tending to a mouse at the other end of the room.
The 2 fox infants begin to struggle and quietly yelp..likely they are hungry Flicktail look up "ello Ame.”
"Hello, Fox," Amy replys then asks, "Little ones hungry? Fae not in ere?"
Flicktail says, "she be sleepin....the mouses said they could feed em a different way, oi ave never been able to hold me Dibs...."
Amethyst nods, "I'll go ask round then. Don't fuss, you'll be holdin' em fore yew know it. Once he's a bit more settled I'll bring yer new great nephew in t see yew." The rat finishes tending to the mouse and goes to find a healer to ask what to feed the fox kits.
The healer smiles offering some meadow cream...and some grean sap milk, "Just use a cloth and dip it in andthey will suckle.”
Amethyst comes back soon with a bowl of meadow cream, a beaker of greensap milk and a clean cloth. She sets the becker, bowl and cloth on the table beside Flicky then walks over to lift out one of the kits. "Hi there little one. I've got some vittles for yew over ere. Yer mama needs her sleep," she says craddling the kits in her arms as she walks to a chair and pulls it over near th table. Sitting down she reaches over and dips the cloth into the beaker, wring it out a little, before pressing it to the kit's mouth.
Little Luna snuggles her little paws gripping at Amy’s as she behings to suckle the cloth , she likes it as she makes little *mumm mumm mumm* sounds.
Amethyst dips the cloth again when Luna starts to fuss and brings it back to her mouth again. "Why don't you talk t th other one Flicky. Keep im company while he waits his turn," the rat suggests.
Flicktail smiles “oi talkes at em alla time, and oi even sings.....and humms.”
"Good," Amy says, "Just keep on til I can feed im." She talks quietly to Luna as she feeds her with the rag.
Flicktail says, "oi can't waitstill oi kin hold em....they look so nice....Did I tell ya th name o the boy?"
"Yew did but I can't recall it just now," Amy says, "Yew hear I got a little one now as well? Little squirrel lost his mama and latched on t me a day or two ago."
Flicktail says, "Benic" he smiles the little female snuggling against the warm rat"
Flicktail says, "really Oi ad not eardthat, but oi think e be one lucky fella to ave you as a mum."
Amethyst says, "Thanks. Wont Will an Aik be surprised when they get back. They didn't say ow long they'd be gone. I'm hopin' they'll be back ere by harvest time. Nice as Redwall is I'd rather be back home by th time th snow starts fallin' an winter sets in." She holds Luna up to her shoulder with the damp rag drapped over it and pats the kit's back. "Think this one's done. She's gettin' sleepy again."
There is a few pats andthen a HUGE *BUURP* followed by a giggle.... Flicktail smiles "you ave a wunderful mum's way about ye Ame.”
Amethyst cradles Luna a little longer before carrying her over to swap her for her brother. "I've always been fond of little ones. Hope I'm doin' alroight. These ones can't run yet like my Clenal can. Course he's still gettin' used t things ere and been stayin' close t me so far. Once he feels safe an gets better acquainted with yer lot o dibbuns I may not see im much at all."
when you Pick up Benic he growls a bit eyes still closed...then his muzzle begisn searching out for something to nurse. Flicktail sighs "oi don'ylike layin ere.”
Amethyst lets the kit suck on her claw til she can get him settled like the other one. And the rag is dipped in the milk again and onto this one's muzzle. "And I didn't care t be in a wheeled chair for a season back when I had two broken legs. By th end o th season yew'll be up an walkin' round again an can carry these two about all yew like, Fox."
Amethyst says, "Maybe sooner."
Flicktail smiles and watches Ame.
Amethyst repeats her feeding method with the second kit and before long returns him to his cradle.
Flicktail smiles "then ye Ame.’
Flicktail says, "fortunately their diapers don't need tendin’."
