"Are you all right, Blisa?"

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

FV:Marketplace

This is probally one of the busy areas of Ferravale during mid-day as a couple shops are here selling there wares and an area set for fruits and veggies to be sold and other goods from carts and stands.Guards wander by many times to help keep the peace and make sure laws are not broken. The area is well kept and keep clean. You can stay a while or head back to the center of town.

Liam the pine marten. Blisa the cat and Ferdinand the ferret. Nightbreath the ermine.

The market place is busy this afternoon despite the chill in the air. One such market goer is Liam Grey. Instead of begging on the street this time the skinny pine marten is actually buying food for a change. Not that he has much to buy with of course.

A commotion erupts over in front of the bakery, and through the crowd gathered to watch, Ferdinand can be seen, sabre in paw, shooing Blisa into the paws of a small, delicate-looking female rat guard. The ferret has the tip of his blade at the throat of a huge, hulking, extremely mean-looking fox, who has a vicious axe in his left fist. The kitten huddles in the rattes's arms, her small dirk in paw, eyes wide in trepidation and slight fear.

Snapping his head around at the commotion Liam instinctively gets ready to run. Seeing as how there isn't a mob coming to run him out of town, this time at least, he views the scene with some curiosity instead. He takes a few steps closer to take a better look.

The fox yells something basically incoherent, and Ferdinand roars back, "I don't care! You can't have her! Now leave thith village!" The vulpine growls low in his throat and swings his axe at the ferret's face. The guard is head and shoulders shorter than his enemy, and so ducking below the swinging weapon is easy for him. He does so, the swings his sabre and slices the foxes' face. The hulking red-furred creature howls in pain and wipes blood out of his eye, then stumbles as a group of equally huge village guards grab him and haul him off. Apparently, threatening the Chieftains' daughter is very much not allowed.

Liam snarls, "Jumpin' grasshoppers on a grease pit!" he curses then quickly rushes to the body guards side, careful to give him some space though, "You ok there mate?"

A cloaked figure, Nightbreath by the looks of it, approaches from the north and gazes down the streets at the various beasts going about their business.

The fox can be heard spewing very horrible language as he is physically dragged out of Ferravale by the villages' largest, strongest guards. The tiny ratess guard has had the good sense to cover Blisa's ears, and waits until the fox is out of hearing before removing her paws. Ferdinand is still rather poufy, and jumps slightly as the pine marten speaks to him. His golden eyes flashing with battle light, he simply nods, not yet trusting himself to speak just yet.

Liam nods to the departing fox. "What was that all about?" the pine marten asks calmly, glad the ferret didn't try to accidentally lop off his head or some such non sense. A sword to the belly would ruin his hole day.

Nightbreath stalks silently to Blisa's side, without saying anything.

Ferdinand sheaths his sword and starts to smooth down his tail, looking and acting very agitated still. "That pervert thought that Blitha wath my thlave and tried to buy her from me. I thet him right on that fact." Blisa sniffs, looks up at the Seer, and clings to him, having enough knowledge to know to leave her bodyguard alone and let him calm down before going to him. The female rat guard, seeing the ermine and recognizing nods to Ferdinand and melts into the crowd, figuring that he has enough help now.

"Why do beasts repeatedly inquire such?" Nightbreath wonders aloud, ruffling Blisa's headfur fondly, putting a paw on her protectively.

Liam does his best to suppress the chuckle he has over the ferrets lisp. The best he can do is reduce it to a smirk, "Heh, you...don't say. That is pretty dumb of him to be trying to buy the cheiftains daughter." He turns to catch Nightbreath standing next to Blisa. "Er, speaking of the chiefs daughter, is that a friend of yours standing next to her?"

Ferdinand glances at the ermine, then nods. "Yeth, he'th a friend. The village Theer, actually." He caught the smirk, and he has a vague idea of what it's all about, but he's going to wait until the amusement is a bit more obvious before defending himself. Blisa looks up at the Seer, slight fear showing in her eyes still. "I don't look like a slave, do I?"

"Not at all," Nightbreath says reassuringly. "It's not you, it's them," he clarifies. "In other words, it was not your actions or appearance that caused you to be labeled a slave."

Liam catches the end of the sentence as he approaches but gets the gist of what's going on, "Don't let the fox bother you little miss. Some beasts are just thick headed. Anyone can see that you are nobility, or is that royalty here?" he pauses and shrugs, "Oh well. Doesn't matter I suppose. The ferret chap there said you were friendly sir." He holds out a paw to shake, "Liam Grey, and any friend of these two is a friend of mine."

Blisa nods, then sniffs again and goes over to Ferdinand, who is holding out his arms to give her a hug, and she wraps her arms around his waist. The ferret has calmed down a little, but he's still feeling a little high strung at the moment, and is looking around nervously. Did the fox have anybody working with him?

Nightbreath closes and reopens his eyes. "Are you all right, Blisa?" he inquires, clearly concerned. He rifles through a belt pouch idly.

Liam closes his paw when the Ermine doesn't shake paws. Friendly in deed. Instead he chuckles, "I could ask the same question. You both look a little shaken. How many times has this fox tried to buy Blisa from you?"

Blisa nods and hides her face in her bodyguard's shirt. Ferdinand's golden eyes flash again, if only slightly. "Only once before. The latht time he went away without a fight or anything like that. Today....well, I don't know why he made a big deal out of it."

Nightbreath rifles through his belt pouches, muttering something. Now where _is_ it?

Liam tries his best to look consoling. He isn't the best at comforting people, least of all dibbuns but he makes an honest effort, "Now don't you cry little miss. You have Ferdinand and this Ermine fellow to watch over you. They won't let anything bad happen to you." Inwardly he makes a note to have a long private chat with this fox fellow if he should ever see him again. "That nastly fox won't be after you anytime soon. He's your papa's problem now!" hmmm, maybe he won't ever get the chance to meet the fox after all.

"We were not introduced properly," Nightbreath says apologetically to Liam, extending one black paw. "I am Nightbreath of Ferravale."

Liam smiles and shakes the ermines paw, even if his appearence gives him the willies. "Liam Grey of...well, hmmm." he thinks for a moment trying to think up a title. He finely shrugs, "Former slave and currently jack of all trades. I suppose you could call me."

Blisa nods, but keeps her face hidden. Ferdinand watches her and all around quietly, then takes her paw. "I think we thall go home."

"A worthy title," Nightbreath agrees, casting a concerned eye over Blisa.

Ferdinand starts to lead Blisa home, the both of them stressed and sad. "Good day, thirth. I think we need to get home." and with that, they are gone, homeward bound.
