Where Have You Been?
Brockhall: Annex
- -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Brockhall Annex *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
This chamber, lit with soft-glowing lanterns, is the very hollowed trunk of
Brockhall and serves as an annex for a host of adjacent rooms and a grand
entrance hall. The room's ceiling is lost overhead in the darkness of the
mighty oak trunk. The tree's thick roots, that twist their way around the
chamber, have been honed and polished to resemble simple furnishings -- the
chairs, tables, and shelves are all part of the rustic decor, as much a
part of the tree as the beings who dwell here. A great stone fireplace
dominates the far wall, encircled by small stumps and even a large, comfy
chair. Carved into the living walls, a staircase with a sturdy railing runs
around the chamber, ascending gracefully into darkness. Another smaller,
darkened stairwell, the steps worn with age, leads to the woodlands. Above
the stairwell, a brightly polished, bronze plaque reads: Brockhall.

All is quiet in BrockHall and that in its self is not out of place, as it’s usually empty of beasts. It’s odd because there are two beasts here, a badger and a young mouse. The badger Zee Winters lays by the stone fireplace with a couple blankets over him and has yet to wake the past day, yes it’s been over a day and he is still unconcious and not awake. His chest still rises and falls and every so often a weak groan has escaped him the past couple hours, the only things proving he lives.
Caleb sits beside him with his knees hugged close to his chest, the fur under his eyes wet as he has stared at the badger the past couple hours, he tried to wake him a couple times and now sits quiet and worried for his friend, he knows the badger is old.
Zee is indeed old, in fact older than Zork was when he died by a few seasons, he was an adult when his nephew Zork was born.
Caleb goes to check his pulse as at least he knows how to do that, he knows where to check for a pulse and he checked for any wounds and frostbite on fingers and toes even. He knows or least has guessed it was a good idea to make sure the badger got warmer.
Zee’s pulse is there, it’s just weak and a little slow, he luckily has no frost bite anywhere. He was close to frost bite on his paw, but the redness of the area went down and his paw looks a lot better now. He went from not moving at all, well except for slow rise and fall of his chest, to barely moving. From being quiet to very weak groans ever so often.
Caleb frowns, “Please don’t die Mr. Zee..you gotta wake up now.” He waits before adding one more word, as if that is the magic word to get the badger to open his eyes, “Please”
Zee doesn’t respond really so it’s unclear if he hears Caleb or not, the only good thing is it seems he isn’t getting any worse, but no better either.
Caleb frowns and looks around, he takes a deep breath and knows he has to go out; he has to go get some help. Yes he is afraid and yes he is not yet an adult yet but he is out of his dibbun seasons. He looks at Zee and frowns as he also looks for something to prop a door open, wait is that safe? He grabs his own cloak and looks back at Zee “I will be back Mr. Zee..I promise, please don’t die while I am gone.” He then quickly rushes off into the woodlands. Well someone would have the keys but…yeah he is in SOOOOOOO much trouble.
- A few Minutes of being outside***
Caleb looks around and frowns, he has only walked a short distance and already feels lost. He keeps following a path he hopes is right.
Boaz is meanwhile walking along a path as well, “Oh yes deleiver the note to miss fieldmouse, who lives by the creek. Oh I HATE cold weather HATE IT!”
Caleb hears the familiar voice and goes that direction, upon seeing the vole he at first seems unsure and then races over to him “Brother Boaz…Brother BoAZ!!”
Boaz spins around and his eyes widen in shock “Oh dear me..Novice Caleb is that you or am I that tried I am seeing things?” He frowns and indeed hopes it’s the mouse.
Caleb slows and comes to where he is “Its me..it is and you gonna help Mr. Zee is sick and he may be dead and I don’t know, he wouldn’t wake but he is breathing and…I don’t know wanna do”
Boaz respondes “First ya breath lad and then you explain yourself, where have you been for one?”
Caleb frowns “I just said..well sort of..I….Mr. Zee needs help”
Boaz fixes his glasses when they almost fall off “And you need to get back to the abbey, oh yes that’s my respoiablty seeing as I am the only adult here , ok lets go lad and no trouble please”
Caleb sighs and follows the vole back to the abbey.”But he is, Mr. Zee is..at this tree and some ghost thing let us in I think”
They walk on to the abbey, it’s not too long of a walk.
RW Abbey: Entry
You stand on a grassy sward between two cottages. To the south you see a small, calm pond. To the north lies an open space where the Abbey has its feasts in the warmer seasons. To the east is the Great Hall, a massive structure that rises far above the abbey walls and is completed with large towers that pierce upwards into the sky. The main building is completed with a large, iron banded door that would allow one into the Great Hall.
Coolness has swept into the air now, bringing with it the autumn leaves of the orchards. Coating the trails that lace and move through the dying grass and flowers. Regardless of the death of plants, the area is beautiful in it's gold and orange season. The abbey is sporting the colors in full pride.

Boaz is not about to lose site of the mouse, and yes he grumbled and complained all the way here, " My plan just check on something and already I run into trouble and you’re talking of ghosts or something and..." Something dawns on him, "Wait..how did you get away from..whoever it was?" He adjusts his glasses as if worried, “You were not followed were you?"
Caleb frowns "No..." Great how to explain without getting into trouble, "I....he had..sleeping herbs and I put them in his food and when the rat was asleep I ran away, but I got lost and that’s when I ran into Mr. Zee and...I don't know how we found the tree, some other badger showed us I think. I was sort of out of it at the time."
Boaz listens and blinks "Other..." He shakes his head and looks around "Either way you’re not..NOT going back out." He is not so good at this sort of thing, "I got to find someone and...and your..well I don't know yet."
Caleb blinks "Why? And you can't take too long...Mr.Zee isn’t feeling well cause of the cold and I think its cause he had his cloak around me. I didn’t know what to do except have the fire in the fireplace and find blankets and stuff and why do I have to stay here for, I can go back too"
Boaz shakes head "I don't think that wise, I am glad you got out of the bad weather, and I am no healer but being warmed up is a good thing I would think. Your staying HERE...where is Cynthia?"
Caleb frowns and looks down, “I don't know..Kyran claimed she was dead but I don't know if he lied or not and he didn't have her anymore so...I don't know...last place he was before the campsite was Ferravale."
Boaz groans, he looks around and frowns more, "Great..." He mutters. “Just....go sit somewhere, or something." He sighs as he mutters "Where is someone when I need them..."
Caleb has stayed standing and looking at the ground while the vole speaks, he looks like he is about to cry but he is managing not to, it's not been a fun past few days for him.
Benar comes walking out of the orchard chatting quietly to Sister Rachel and Sister Yosemite, he pauses when he spots Caleb and Boaz and frowns and starts to make his way across the snow covered grounds toward them.
Boaz watches the mouse. before he speaks again "And what was your plan had I not seen you on the path? I mean I couldn't very well leave ya all by yourself"
Caleb shrugs slowly,"I..don't know sir, I would of come here on my own or maybe gone on to Ferravale or..." He looks up " Look I am sorry I followed someone, I only planned to get her to come back inside I didn’t know trouble was gonna happen...or the bad weather even when I managed to get away from Kyran and I don’t know where he is either not seen him since...well since I got away from him."
Benar strolls forward, the sisters flanking him in their habits and plants himself squarely in front of Caleb, "So you just climbed out after her? You were going to go to Ferravale without even stopping in to let us know you were alive?" He's angry, oh is the squirrel angry, angry Benar is very rare and he is staring down at Caleb, he's not shouting however, he's talking quite calmly, "Your mother and father left you in my care when they left and you ran away at the first drop of the hat? I would expect this sort of recklessness out of your sister but not you Caleb, I am incredibly disappointed in you."
Boaz just backs off a little, yes let the abbot handle this for now.
Caleb frowns as he looks to Benar, "I..I was gonna come back inside then..then Cynthia started arguing and then that rat grabbed us from behind and took us away. I..I don't know what happen to Cynthia, he...he just took me after he had been away a couple hours, he claimed he killed her but he could of been lying..I.I..don't know. I managed to...get way cause..." He looks away, “The rat had sleeping herbs and I used them against him by putting them in his food and when he was asleep I ran away from him but I got lost...."
Boaz says, "I found Caleb on the path by the road just a little while ago...I didn't see anyone else "
Benar says, "Thank you Boaz, most kind of you, please see to it the main gates are closed properly." He turns his dark eyes back on Caleb, "When you saw Cynthia climbing down the wall you should have fetched the guards, not gone after here. Your thoughtlessness could have gotten her and yourself killed, now get yourself inside," He points toward the door, "I shall let Lactoa deal with you, you're in his care with your mother away, Novices of the order are expected to have better heads on their shoulders." He steps aside and points toward the front door.
Caleb frowns, “Shouldn’t they still look for her?" He asks quietly and decides to walk slowly to the Great Hall. It may be best to just go inside, he has already spoken to Boaz and he rather not get the abbot any more upset than he already is. So he hurries inside.
Boaz waits and stays close bye, he nods "I..didn't think it wise to let the lad out of my site again. He mentioned running into Zee and something about someone showed them how to get somewhere...I don't know maybe the lad was confused?"
Benar sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose and removes his glasses, "Sister Yosemite find Captain Lee I want the search for Cynthia doubled, Sister Rachel signal to the sparra King please, I want to send a message to Ferravale I want Cynthia found and that rat." he glances at the vole, "Thank you Boaz, see if you can find Zee and bring him here please I am afraid our little trip to Brockhall shall have to wait until this matter is dealt with."
Boaz says, "I don't think he is at the abbey. I am unsure where he is, sorry Benar"
Caleb gets up from the chair he is in and goes to lay down in one of the softer chairs and frowns, it’s been a bad day…a bad week. He then curls up to now let tears fall and ends up falling asleep.
