What the Wind Blew In
Location: Mole Deep Hall
Characters: Windfur, Aikuen, Ella
Aikuen sits at the big table in the center of hall. His oldest daughter is sitting on his leg, bouncing her tiny rudder against his leg. Aik had a book in front of him and he reads aloud, "The... Abbey... w-was designed by s-s-sister Ger...-Ger..." he shakes his head, "That word..." and he continues on, TRYING to read to his daughter.
Windfur slowly walks into the hall, staring around the corner at the large, formidable looking otter. He's got a dibbun on his leg, though, so he's got to be friendly. "Hello." She calls out. "Anybeast home?"
"Mar-tan.... Martin. Helped her... to found it... Redw-..." he blinks and looks up over the book at the mouse, "...Hello" he puts the book down, then places Ella on top if it. Ella watches the new beast tilting her head. Never seen anything like her before. Aik gets up from the table and says, "Aye, there is a few of us home. The name is Aikuen, call me Aik. Er... Welcome to Moledeep. How may i be of service?" he bows a bit. She doesn't look to threatening, for a mouse.
Windfur cocks her head, giving a small smile at the young ottermaid. "Not really, Aik, thank you. Just wondering what this place was called. I saw the sign. Moledeep, is it? I needed a place to stay." She put her longbow on the ground, not wanting to hurt anybeast. "The abbey was too crowded for me."
Aikuen watches her put down the bow, and he smiles, "Aye Moledeep. But dont ask about the moles. There is none here. Dont know why. But we call it home. There is many of us living here." he chuckles, and points to his daughter, "This is my eldest daughter. Ella. My wife is off somewhere with our other daughter. My wife's name is Fira, and the other little one is called Venei." he puts his paws in his habit, "Your more than welcome to stay here. Just follow the rules. Etc. Etc." he laughs, "We know how the abbey can be. Reason we moved!"
Windfur smiled. "I'm glad that somebeast feels the same way I do! Thank you for your generous offer." She goes over to the table and tickles little Ella under the chin. "Nice to meet you Ella." SHe turns to Aik. "I'm assuming you'd like me to keep my weapons somewhere....?" She unsheaths her knife and picks up her bow again.
Ella hmms at the tickle and moves her head in it, "Hewoo..." "Mouse" Aik adds to her words, and pats his daughters head. Aik follows Windfur as she moves about the hall, "Yes. There is a chest in the Garden Burrow..." he points off to a branch of the hall, "Im the only one allowed to carry a large weapon... inside Moledeep" he pats his hilt, "But talk to Kentar if you like to carry something." he nods and then ohs, "Before i forget. What's your name, Miz?" Should have asked earlier. Give Aik a bone here!
Windfur nods towards the branch the otter pointed towards. "Of course, I don't mind. My name's Windfur. Who else lives here--just out of curiosity?"
Aikuen smiles and nods, "Ah Windfur. I will try to remember that." He walks back over to his daughter and pats her on the head again, "Besides we four otters. We also have two rats. Four stoats, and a weasel. If i counted that right..." he sits on the table, "Those are the main residents. We get a few guests, like yourself, but there is none here bedsides you right now" he chuckles.
Windfur is very easygoing usually, but she is surprised by the population. "Oh. A...weasel? And...rats and a stoat? I trust your judgement, of course, but I've had to meet them to believe it myself. That they're good, I mean." She nods towards the branch again. "I'll be right back." Soon she is back, weaponless. She sits herself down. "Where do I stay?"
Aikuen snorts as that what he expects from beasts when he says who lives here. Totally understandable, "There good. Well. There not evil, i should say. Not the typical vermin, that most woodlanders like myself have been told about." he waits for her to come back. Ella has moves from atop the book, to back in his lap. Aik chuckles, "You will meet them soon enough." he nods and points off toward the door to the hall, "Go through that door and take the first door on your... left? I think. That's where female dorms are.... There is a sign" he nods with a smile.
Windfur returns the smile. "Thank you. Like I said, I trust your judgement." She starts down the hall. "I'll be back soon."
Aikuen watches her leave, and talks to his daughter, "I like her. She is alot nicer than the last few guests we have had. I just hope its not a trap!" He chuckles and ergs, "Umm... Better not think like that. I am an elder after all. Have to learn to trust beasts. Until they disprove themselves..." Ella looks up at her father, "I likes her... Mousy..." Aik grins and pinches her rudder, "Yes... Mousy... Nice Mousy... With a bow..." Odd. Ella grrs quietly at the pinch. Heh, Just like her mother.
Windfur comes back down the hall, smiling contendedly. "It sure is a nice place you have here. How did you find it?" She sits herself down at the big table.
Aikuen ears turn when she comes back, "Its is nice. About three seasons ago, my son showed it too me. It was abandoned. So we claimed it as our own. We have been living here ever since. Well. When we are not away on adventure and what not!" he chuckles. Ella stares at the mouse, with a small smile, bouncing her rudder.
Windfur shifts in her chair, dusting off the edge of her tunic. "Your...son? I don't believe you mentioned him." She picks up Ella and sits her in her lap, bouncing her up and down. "Is he an otter too, or what?" She smiles.
Aikuen lets her have Ella. Though only after eying the mouse. Seems alright. He then goes to sit on the table cross legged, now that he is free of his daughter, "Ella likes you. By the way." he grins, and lets her have her. For now, "My son? I did not mention him..." for obvious reasons, "Well. He is... a rat. One of the rats here. Adopted. His name is William. You will meet him as well I'm sure." he waves his paw about, "He somewhere around. Probably with Amy. Or outside." he shrugs and laughs.
Windfur playfully tugs Ella's tail, then looks up in mild surprise at the mention of a rat. She shrugs, and gives a soft laugh. "Well, you have quite the family here Aikuen, don't you?"
Ella grrs quietly at the pull and looks up at her, "Owie... Thats nots nices..." she hrms and starts to pull lightly on her fur. See how you like it! Aik grins and nods, "I do have the quite the family, yes. Not a moment of peace i tell yah... But i wouldn't trade them for nothin!" he smiles, "So. Miz Windfur... Whats your story? Have any family about?"
Windfur smiles faintly at Ella, somewhat uncomfortable at Aikuen's question. But it's all right. SHe has to tell someone. "Oh...I haven't seen my family for a while. I got into an argument with my dad and left two seasons ago. I haven't seen them since." She rubs at her eyes furiuosly. "I feel bad about it, but I just couldn't go back. Only to see if they're all right."
Aikuen's smile goes away, and he nods slowly, "Ah. I see. Sorry to hear that. But at least they are still alive. I mean. Oops. I didn't meant it like that..." he rubs the back of his head, "Sorry. Heh. But. They are alive. And maybe you can go check up on them later... If you want too. Im just an old otter..." he grins stupidly.
Windfur shakes her head and waves her paw. "Oh, no, it's quite all right. I know what you mean. I DO want to check on them." She sits back in her chair, eyes far away. "I do miss my little sister though. Wonder how she is."
Aikuen nods again, "Well Alright then. And she is probably doing alright!" he snorts, "Never good to think of the negatives... And you will see them again. I guarantee it. Come here Ella!" Ella ears go back to Aik, "Daddies?" she hurdles herself off Windfur, and tackles Aik, "Daddies!" Aik chuckles, "Urgh! Well... I tell you my story the more you live here. Its long. Requires snacks and such. Naps are good too." he snorts, "Is there anything im forgetting? Any questions?"
Windfur shakes her head and jokes, "No, sir!" Then she sombers up. "I can tell that I'm going to like it her, Aikuen. Thanks for making me feel welcome."
Aikuen snorts and stands up off the table, "Your quite welcome. Now, if you will excuse me. I will leave you to get settled. I will go tell the cook, that there will be one extra tonight..." he bows once more before heading off into the kitchen with Ella, leaving the mouse all to herself in the hall.
