Visitors for the Stoats Part Three
Characters: Amy, Will, Kentar
Location: Eastern Shore
Eastern Shore
Amethyst had been out with Garnet and Chris the previous evening and had stayed out in the rain after the stoats had gone in. She had sat in her chair with her arm raised up to feel the rain. After a time she had thrown her head back and opened her mouth to try and catch rain drops on her tongue with little success. Eventually the otters had taken her back in and somebeast had put her on the cot Will was sleeping on. She had wrapped her arms around him and drifted happily to sleep that night. In the morning she had noticed her beau was somewhat distant but at first didn't think much of it since he was still a dibbun and she though perhaps he hadn't slept well. She sits in her chair by Kentar's cot eating something one of the healer had given her. Will it seems has wondered off some where.
Will had woken up before Amy and after grabbing something to eat he'd left the tent to walk around out along the muddy shore for a while to think about things.
Amethyst eats her salad in silence. Kentar is sleeping and Garnet is napping, Robin is watching Chris and the otters are talking to themselves across the way and to Amy's left from the sound of it. Will hasn't come back yet as far as she can tell. She finishes her meal and sets her bowl on an empty cot for one of the healers to pick up later. She wheels herself to the tent flap unnoticed and leave to go looking for William.
Will hadn't gone far from the tent and is still well in sight of it. The younger rat sits on a rock doodling with a bit of drift wood in the wet sand, a clear trail of boot prints leads from the tent to his rock, the nearest ones have filled with water from the tide. He see Amy leave the tent and watches her til she's fairly close and calls over, "I'm up here." He lays down on top of the large rock dropping the driftwood and free his paws and reach over and half pull half drag the maid's chair closer toward the rock. "Hi," he says quietly siting up and holding a paw out for her to hold if she wants as he looks out over the water.
Amethyst says, "I didn't leave a note. Doubt they'd care. We're not that far away and it's not like anyone else has to leave notes."
Will smiles a little, still watching the waves, "True. Not that you could leave a note anyway. Even if you could see."
Amethyst smirks and swats Will's leg lightly, "I could draw a note like you used to do for Aik. If I could see."
Will chuckles, "But you can't see." He shifts to a better position for sitting on the rock and glances over at Amy. "Did you like it out in th rain?"
Amethyst smirks again and swats his leg again, "I know that!" At his question she nods, "Yes I did. But it would have been better if I could have walked around in it. But it'll rain more as the seasons change and Spring rains are nicer than Autum rains anyway. I'll be walking by then. Before then, but not so much outside til Winter passes if I can help it. And if you don't drag me out of the nice warm tunnel and out into the cold brightness. Snow is cold and not easy to walk on. You do know that don't you?"
Will nods a little then laughs, "I know it's cold. And it's only hard t walk on if you walk on the part that's all snow. If you walk where it's mostly ground with a little snow on top you don't sink so much but it can be more slippery in that case. It can be hard at first but we already know where all th holes are at home that th snow would cover so I don't think we'd have too much trouble unless one th tunnels in th dibbun garden caves in or something. .... Actually that one that Pa dug into, if it was re-dug out, would make a good snow fort when th snow does come."
In the mean time, Kentar had woken up. He had sort of requested a crutch and when he got it, the stoat tried walking. Yes, he fell over a few times, and yes, it hurt like anything but after a bit of practice, he got the hang of using the crutch rather then his leg. So, out he goes, against the healer's wishes, to find where the rats went. He can see Will and Amy not far, so he slowly makes his way over.
Amethyst slaps a paw over her face at Will's plans. "Snow fort? ... For your sake I hope the stoats and otters like snow," the maid shakes her head.
Will shrugs, "Pa doesn't like th snow or cold but he might join in anyway if it meant he could throw snowballs at us an stuff. I think Kentar said he liked th snow and Kluna and Chris will probably like it since I don't think they've seen snow before or at least Chris hasn't," He spies the stoat coming toward them, "Kentar's up and walking kinda." He waves at the stoat, "Hey there!"
The stoat sort of wobbles to the rock Will is sitting on and quickly takes a place next to him, phewing a little. He doesn't look well but that's not stopping him from leaving the care of the healers. "So ratties. What's up!?" he grins.
Amethyst greets Kentar, "Hello, You finally woke up. Not much going on. He disappeared and since no other beast was I went after him. We've just been talking. He plans to clear out a pit in the dibbuns garden so that when Winter comes he can use it as the base for a snow fort against any other beast that care to run about in the cold and freeze to death." She shakes her head again, she's not big on Winter sports and will if allowed spend the coming Winter by the fireside as much as possible.
Will started to speak but looks like Amy's already said everything. "Yeah. Kinda what she said only without hating snow," he grins standing up to stretch his legs a little, the rock seems flat enough that he won't fall off too easily though somebeasts would get nervous around such behavior. Will walks back and forth along the rock without a care and stops at the end nearest the sea, he still doesn't sit down. "Are you supposed t be up and around yet?" he asks the stoat looking him over from his new hight.
Kentar ahs and laughs a little at the rats. "A snow fort! Great!" He smiles nice and big. "I love snow! I think Kluna loves snow too!" he grins. "We'll have to get a big snowball fight going, Will. You and Aikuen against Kluna and me." he grins then huhs. "Er...well....I...no."
Amethyst chuckles, "That would be a no. And Aik doesn't like snow though he may make an exception if he can throw things at either of you. You'd have to talk to him."
Will grins, "That'd be great!" Then he frowns a little at the stoat's answer, "You need t follow th healer's orders if you want t get better."
Kentar nods then laughs. "Yeah, it would be!" he then blinks at the frown. "Come on Will. I've been doing nothing the past few days but rotting away in a cell, getting beaten up, and sleeping. I need to be out!" he frowns.
Amethyst frown a little unaware that she is, "Do they have any chairs like mine there that you could use to get around without risking hurting your leg by walking on it too soon?" she asks.
Will sits down at last. "I didn't mean you had t stay in there all th time. Just don't want ya t mess up what th healers are doing for you is all."
Kentar nods a little bit and sighs. "Yeah. I know Will." he smiles softly before looking to Amy. "There is but I can't use it. I need two paws for that."
Amethyst smirks, "Or somebeast to push you in it. You have an older son that's around here somewhere and a wife. And Chris liked riding with me yesterday though that may be a bit much. And I know that it doesn't take two paws to push. It can be done with just one. Not to say it should be but it does work if the beast pushing is stubborn enough to make it work."
Will nods, "You could ask them or even Pa, I'm sure he wouldn't mind pushing you around if you wanted. Even I could ... maybe." He tugs at one of Amy's ears when she calls him stubborn, "You're welcome."
Kentar ohs and hms a little bit and nods. "Robin can do it!" he smiles a little, chuckling quietly. "Good thinking Amy!" He smiles
Amethyst eeps at the ear pulling and after a bit manges to grab Will's paw and squeezes it a little. And the stoat is talking again. she turns toward his voice and smiles, "What would you do without me?"
Will doesn't mind that his good paw was grabbed but as long as Amy is holding it he won't be able to get down.
Kentar laughs a bit and grins. "I'd do nothing because you're amazing Amy!" he smiles then laughs. "So yeah, I'll get one of those chair things." He nods.
Amethyst smiles wider, "Thank you. Mind telling the otters that? They don't seem to have caught on yet."
Will sighs, "I don't think that's quite it. You need t try a little harder t be nice t them."
Kentar grins. "I'll tell them." he grins wide before shouting out. "HEY AIK, FIRA! AMY IS AMAZING AND..." he gets caught up in what he's doing and stands but then lets out a sharp yelp as he falls into the water and grips at his calf. "HARMFUL TO MY HEALTH!"
Amethyst lets go of Will's paw and scowls a little at the stoat, the scowl doesn't last long though. "I /am not/ harmful to your health. You may be harmful to your own health but I'm not."
Will chuckles at the other two, "She didn't mean for you t tell them right now, silly."
Kentar very, very slowly moves himself back to the rock. "Ow..." he grumbles. He doesn't even notice he burst the stitches on his calf. "Ow..." he mutters quietly. And, somehow, he fails to realize he's bleeding.
Amethyst doesn't smell the blood right away all the sea air and sand and such kinda masks other less strong smells. "Are you ok, Kentar?" she asks hearing him move and noting he's in pain.
Will however is able to see the stoat's bleeding. "Kentar can you sit down on here or is it too high? I think you pulled something or something cause your leg's bleeding." The rat starts to root through his pack for something to give the stoat for his leg a bandage or something.
Kentar huhs and looks down to see his leg bleeding. And its getting worse. "Aw crud." he says as he gets his crutch and stands. "I've got to go back to the tent. I'll be fine. Provided Aik doesn't get to me first." he says as he hobbles towards the tent, his bad leg up off the ground so that it wont get dirty or infected.
Amethyst blinks as the stoat leaves. "Ok. .... I guess we could head in too," she says to Will.
Will stops looking in his pack and nods to the stoat, "Ok. Ask about a wheel chair if you can!" he calls after him.
Amethyst leans back in her chair, "Stars out yet?" she asks not wanting to leave Will by himself but on the other paw she wants to get back to the others. Hearing the thud she makes up her mind and wheels herself back toward the tent. "Kentar?" she asks, "Are you alright?"
Will would have stayed on the rock up until dark at the very least but he climbs down seeing that Kentar may need help and runs off toward the tent to see what's going on.
When they get into the tent, Kentar's laying on the floor and the healers are stitching him up there. "Yeah, yeah, I'm fine. I bumped into a healer. Or rather a healer bumped into me and sent me flying. Then I yelled. And now they're fixing up my leg before I get up."
Amethyst had only just lifted the flap and of course can't see the stoat or healers but she hears them and stays where she is since she doesn't know if there is room for her to get in with them there. "But you're ok right?" she asks the downed stoat, worriedly thinking about what she was told about Jasper.
Will had ducked under the opened tent flap and steped around the stoat and healers to watch them patch Kentar up. He sighs relived, "So you'll be ok once they're done patching you up again and you don't go out walking too soon again. That's good."
The healers growl at Amy. "Yes. Your idiot here will be fine. But he's not allowed to get out of bed. Not once. Not at all until he's fully healed. Or has a wheeled chair." they bark out before lifting him up and putting the grumbling stoat into bed.
Amethyst nods and smiles, "Thank you very much." She doesn't point out that 'her idiot' is just fine. "How long will it be before Kentar can walk again, if he doesn't wander off again." she asks.
Will smirks a bit at the healer's choice of words but like Amy doesn't comment on them. He walks over to sit an empty cot near the stoat. "Hear that? You'll be fine and next time you want t go out ask Robin t wheel you around in a chair." he says. Looks like the otters have gone off somewhere. The rat doesn't think too much of it they're know for doing things like that.
Amethyst frowns a little, "Would it be possible to buy a chair for him to be moved around in?" she asks knowing good and well it's possible since otherwise she wouldn't have on of her own but on the other paw it's unlikely they'd just give them one. Not like wheeled chairs grow on trees or anything.
"Yeah, yeah, we're working on it already." They say before leaving the tent for a minute. Kentar grins a little. "Hear that Amy?" he says. "I'll get one too. Then we can race." The stoat laughs. He then snuggles back into his bed and drifts off to sleep, muttering something about a race.
Will moves Amy's chair so it's along side the cot he's most recently claimed for them and helps her onto it ignoring any protests as usual. He lays down on the cot himself and waits for the otters to return. He chuckles a little at the mention of a race. "I don't know she may not be able t see but she gotten pretty good at using her chair and even does tricks with it," he frowns a little at this last part since he really wishes she wouldn't do tricks with her chair he's afraid she'll hurt herself worse doing that one day. "Once you get a chair we'll see if you an Robin are any match for her," he grins over at the stoat even though he's asleep.
