Visitors for the Stoats

Eastern Shore

Its a nice evening on the shores but not so nice at the camp where the stoats are. It just has a different, dreadful feel to it for some reason. Kentar feels sort of like that. He's still laying on his stomach, dozing off randomly. But the only one who really noticed was the healer and that's cause there's no one else around him right now. Garnet is napping and Robin is walking around outside with Chris.

Aikuen and Fira, are walking south along the beachhead. Aik was planing to visit the stoats today, and Fira just had to go see them for herself. Aik is not very happy about this. She needs to stay off her footpaws. But she would not hear of it, and was out the door before he could even put on his cloak. Aik soon forgives her, as even though she is bulging, she is still light on her paws. Which Aik laughs at. They enter the vicinity of the camp, and are immediately stoped by some of the guards. Aik is surprised at this. Then he remembers that they are both wearing their disguises. Aik with his soot paste. And Fira with her hat. Aik chuckles and says, that he is a friend of Commander, and would like to see him. They say he is unavailable. And Aik rebuttals saying that he knows that, he is the one that saved him. They blink, and allow him to enter. Aik calls out, "Robin..." as the get near the tent.

Robin huhs and steps around from the tent, Chris in his arms. "Oh. Hi." he says, going over to the otter couple, the stoat tilting his head a little. "Here to see Kentar then I take it?"

Aikuen nods a little bit, "Aye. Of course we came to see the whole stoaty family as well.... Kluna still doesn't know and was left with the otters back home. I think its best if his parents tell him what happened. If they want too." Fira nods a little bit, and gives Aik's paw a squeeze before entering the tent. Aik smiles at her and goes back to Robin, "How is everything?"

The stoat sighs a little bit then shrugs, peering into the open door of the big tent. "He's not well. Getting better, yes. Slowly. But he hasn't really been talking much. I think he's upset. I'm not sure why though."

Aikuen has a guess at what it is. He told Kentar not too. And now look what's happened. But that just what Aik believes. He might be totally off the mark. Have to ask him later. He peers in as well, "He seems fine. Maybe he is still in shock or something..." he sighs, "Hows everyone else? Garnet? Chris? Jasper?" he asks.

Robin shrugs again. "Garnet is still Garnet. Upset over the whole thing. Worried. Sleeping." he says before grinning down at Chris. "Well, he found out pulling my whiskers out is fun." The stoat laughs. Then he grins at the mention of Jasper. "Jasper? Hah. He's doing great. Almost as if he never lost a leg. Good mood, still barking out orders as usual. He recovers fast. Mentally anyways."

Aikuen chuckles, "I figured as much for Garnet. As for Chris..." he rubs his muzzle, "You'll get used to it..." he grins, "Really? Jasper is still commanding? Good for him! He is probably been though the ringer. He knows, and is used to it..." he laughs. Fira, who can just be seen inside the flap, as gone over to Garnets cot, with a soft paw on her shoulder. Aik nods, "Anyway..." he looks behind him and blinks, "I thought they were just being quiet... Ratties?" he looks around, "I think they got lost... Ill be back..." he nods, and goes back the way he came. He gets to the guard and ask, if he has seen some young rats about. One in a wheel chair. The guard nods and points north. Aik snorts, "Slow pokes..." as the rats are still a bit far off, but are coming toward them

"I know personally, that he has. Although he mentioned something about retiring to me this morning. After he's back home and all." The stoat follows Aik in then chuckles as he sees Aik go to find the rats. "Silly beasts." he sits next to Kentar's bed and yawns a little.

Will and Amy are indeed coming they'd gotten to talking and fallen behind the otters bit by bit but are finally catching up to them.

Amy had wanted to wait til Kentar was better before seeing him but on the other paw she wanted to see him as soon as she could so they had followed the otters south to where she was told there was a tent and within it the stoats.

Aikuen waits for them for a little bit, and shrugs to the guard, "They're good. They're here to see Kentar... Just let them in without trouble and point out the surgeons tent, if you don't mind..." the guard tilts his head, before nodding. Aik smiles, "Thanks mate..." and the otter goes back to the tent himself. He nods at Robin, and smiles at Fira before going over to the cot next to Jasper, and asks "Could you get me a drink?" he laughs at the rat.

Will wheels Amy up to the tent and the guards. "We're here t see a stoat name of Kentar," he says matter-a-factly to the guards having seen the otters get in and hoping Aikuen won't make them stay outside if the guards don't let them in right away.

Aikuen smiles at him. Old soldiers. Always thinking of the better. Never living in the sorrow. Aik tilts his head when he says that, "Don't you mean Leg?" he laughs, "I'll get me own dern drink. Thank you very much! What is it? If it's for rescuing you... just forget about it... I did it. Because that's what I do..." But you have peaked the otters interest, "Soooo.... What is it?" he grins. The guard has been watching the rats arrival. And is a bit confused at the state they are in. But he is not here to ask questions. Just do his duty. He points out the surgeons tent, "He is in there..."

Jasper laughs. "In fact, I do mate!" he grins then nods slowly. "It is for rescuing me. I know it wasn't me you were going for. It was them." he motions to the stoats. "But thank you. So much. My family would have been so...lost...at my loss." he smiles a little more. "You, are a good beast. And my leftenant there..." he motions to a ferret. "Will handle your...small...but well earned reward before you leave the village." he smiles.

Will smiles at the guard's puzzled expression, "She tells me I'm not t jump off any more cliffs and I /suppose/ I should listen to her." He waves a little and thanks the guard as he pushes Amy on toward the surgeon's tent. He pulls back the flap to let Amy in first and lets it fall back after he steps in. "We're here. Didn't know otters could go so fast when not in water," he grins as if it was they that had gone too fast instead of he and Amy who had gone too slow. "How's Kentar?" he asks looking around the tent as it's a new place.

Aikuen nods and looks to the ferret, before looking back at the rat, "I will mate. And I'm glad to do it... Never leave a beast behind..." he grins. The otter spies Amy. Okay? Ahhh, there is Will, "Lo' rats. Bout time..." he snorts, "Fast? We were taking our sweet time... you're the one that had to stop and smell the flowers!" he laughs, and shrugs at the next part, "He is healing..." is all he can really say.

Will shrugs, "Some /flowers/ are worth stopping for." He doesn't expect the otter to get it in fact he's counting on the otter not getting it. He sighs when the otter tells him about the stoat, "That's good I guess. He's not like he was th last time we came here ... is he?"

Robin looks up and tilts his head. "Like the last time?" He asks, not sure what he meant. Jasper looks to the sleeping form of Kentar and sighs a little before going quiet. Robin looks between everyone and blinks.

Aikuen winks at Will. He did get it. He is 21 seasons old. He knows every line in the book. Nothing used that much, gets past him. He shakes his head a little bit, "Er... not really. Besides some welts on his back, and his leg being paralyzed for a week or so... and a few cuts around his middle..." he shrugs. It was more mental damage then anything else. Then Robin asks that. He blinks and wonders if he should tell, "Lets just say, before the last time we were here..." he points all over his face, "Kentar was using both eyes..."

Robin looks about and ohs slightly, looking to Aik. He frowns slightly and nods a little bit. "Oh. Okay." he says before thinking. "But...he can see right?" he asks. He's not sure.

Aikuen nods, "Aye he can still see... At least... That's what I've seen. He shouldn't have his eyesight ruined. There was no reason for it to be hurt..." he nods. He did a quick diagnosis when they were in the tunnel. There was nothing wrong with his eyes. Robin was probably just looking for some sort of confirmation. The otter nods, "He'll be just fine..."

Robin phews quietly and nods. "Right. Okay. I'm just making sure." he smiles. Then there's a voice. It's quiet but loud enough to be heard. "Sure...of what?"

Aikuen smiles, "Its okay to ask. Just in case we missed something... You never know..." He was about to get up and go to Fira, when the voice stops him. He knows that voice, "We were just making sure that, you, are going to heal up nice... a be the same old stoat!" he chuckles, "How yah doing Kentar?

"I'm sure I look worse...and feel worse...then I am." Kentar replies quietly. He seems to be MUCH quieter now for some reason. "How's Garnet?" he asks quietly. "And the rats? What...did I miss?" he slowly tries to roll onto his back but then winces when he makes it.

Aikuen shrugs a bit, "You probably feel worse. You don't look too bad from the outside..." he looks toward Garnet. She is up and talking to Fira. Aik says, "Garnet is up and talking to Fira... The rats are here, they're fine... We all came to see you..." he smiles, and winces as well, "Ouch mate. Take it easy now... You haven't missed much... just talking..."

The stoat looks around carefully and smiles weakly when he sees who is around. "Wow...you...guys are great....all here....to see me." he chuckles quietly, -very- slowly sitting up. He winces and collapses back then sighs. Not in good shape.

Aikuen smiles, "We are all your friends... want to make sure, you get well again..." he watches him try to get up, and he shakes his head, "Just rest Kentar... That's all we ask. You were in an awful shape when he found you... just rest... Has the healer given you your pain reducers yet?" he looks around.

Kentar frowns a little then nods a little. "Alright, alright. I'll...rest." he whispers out before nodding slowly. "Yeah. They've...not quite kicked in yet. Or they don't work." he thinks about shrugging but decides not to.

Aikuen is just trying to look out for him. He nods, "Good... Good... They probably kick in at any moment now... Hopefully..." he smiles and tries to lighten the mood. Its a great healer, "SO! Jasper is going to get me a drink. And he was wondering if you want one?" he laughs.

Kentar nods a little bit and smiles. He then laughs, but winces at the idea. "Haha. I'd...love one, thanks. Thanks Jasp!" he waves a little to his rat friend who laughs and grins back. But says nothing. "So Aik...how...are you?" he asks. "We...we...all thought you were dead...we thought everyone was dead..." he wants to give him a hug so badly.

Aikuen tries to stifle the laughter. Its a great medicine. He grins, "Me? Oh I'm fine. Tired a little bit. Only managed to catch a nap... over the last 4 days or so..." he then blinks at the next part, "What? We... No... Were not dead... What... What gave you that idea?" he would give him a hug. But he is no mind reader.

This time, he sits up, no matter how much he winces. The stoat reaches into his pocket and pulls out a little bag. Kentar opens it and pulls out both of the otters' wedding rings. And then some rocks. From Kluna's collection. "They stole these. Gave them to us and told us you were dead. All of you. We...thought you were gone."

Aikuen wishes that Kentar would stay put, and rest. Not likely though. He blinks at the rings, "What the-..." he curses softly, "So that... It was.... I thought I..." he blinks and chuckles, "I thought I was losing my mind... i thought I lost mine at the bar that one night..." he didn't even notice that Fira was missing hers. He shakes his head, "I can't believe they would so such a thing..." actually he does, "That's really low... But. Were all safe..." he nods and smiles.

Amethyst whispers, "Who's Jasper?" to Will as she listens to Aik and Kentar talk. At least she now knows for sure that the stoat is alive. "Move me over to where Kentar is. I want to see him," she asks after a short while.

Kentar sighs and holds out the rings for him to take. And the rocks too. He kept those. All. He kept them all. "I'm so..." he pauses to find the right word. "happy...you're alive...all of you...so happy that you're all alive." he sighs, tears of joy running down his face. He didn't have the time to be sad or happy while they were captured. And now that he's thinking about it, it all hits him. Hard too. He fights bursting into tears.

Will whispers back, "An old friend of Kentar's, he's in here too. I'll put you next t his bed but you should ask him first. He might not want you t look at him right now." Will pushes the blind maid up along side the stoat and leans on the back of her chair just listening for now.

Aikuen takes the rings and the rock bag. He puts them all in his pouch for now. He smiles, "We're glad YOU'RE alive... and Garnet, and Chris. When Robin told me you guys were captured..." he stops when he see the stoat, and gets up and walks over to Kentar. He gives him a big fat, otter sized hug. Of course hopefully missing the welts on his back, "Alright mate... lets have it... let it out..." its best too.

Nope, the otter hits one or two but Kentar totally doesn't realize. He hugs back tightly and bursts into tears. His free paw reaches out to try and grab Will to pull him into the hug too.

Amethyst blinks and her ears go back to try and block out some of the crying. She can wait a little while. "Once you've pulled yourself together some could I look at you, Kentar? I can hear you fine but I've heard things that weren't there before and there are only so many ways I can be sure you are actually here." She smiles a little though it's forced this is some sort of infirm and she's never liked infirmaries also the crying is right next to her.

Will was standing half bent forward leaning on the back of Amy's chair when Kentar tries to pull him into a hug which first pulls him off balance and he's down. "Hey, ow." He pulls himself back to his feet with a little help from Kentar's cot since he only has one working arm. "I'm ok. Don't worry about me," he says, clearly fine. He joins the hugging since it seems to be expected. "Ar-are you gonna be ok?" he asks Kentar after a moment not really in the hugging mood himself.

Aikuen sighs and lets the stoat cry away. He glances at Amy. She could be a little more sensitive in this situation. But he doubts that. He pats the stoat lightly on the shoulder. Doesn't want to hit any welts if he can help it, "There yah go big guy... We are all safe again... You guys are alive. And so are we..." he was about to chuckle at Will for falling. That was funny. But goes against it at this time. Laugh at him later. He lets go of the stoat and smiles, waiting for him to answer Will's question.

Kentar finally, after Will's question, lets go of Aik and dries his face off before laying back again. "I'll..." he pauses. "Be fine. Eventually." he closes his eye then looks to Amy. "Everything is still here." he says. "Just sore." But in wounded stoat, that means, /no, you can't touch my face/.

Amethyst nods looking straight ahead and not at the stoat though her ears are up again. She folds her paws and lays them in her lap understanding the stoat doesn't want to be touched yet. "I would have waited til you were better but that would mean waiting." Or in other words /I only came here because I was worried and everyone else was going./ "It's good to hear your voice again." she says after a pause trying again to smile and even turning her face in his direction this time.

Will watches the stoat and moves back to lean on Amy's chair a little farther from the cot should Kentar want another hug. Not that he'd not hug the stoat he just doesn't want to say hello to the ground again next time he does.

Aikuen pats Kentar on his leg, "Your going to be alright mate... Trust me... I'll be here if you need me..." he gets up and walks over to one of the healers, and starts to bring up a chat on the health status of the stoats. The Rat. And anyone else who got hurt in this rescue operation. After a very, very, very lengthy conversation. Aik nods as the healer leaves, and he starts to scratch his headfur. Removing the slickness, and making it stick up. Something is brought to his mind, from the healer. Aik sighs and goes to sit with Fira, and talk with Garnet about her situation. Fira slicks his headfur back for him. As he didn't realize.

The stoat sighs quietly. "Thank you Amy...it's...good to know you're not dead. And I'm glad you're not dead either Will." he looks to Aik and nods. "Thanks..." The stoat rubs his face slowly and sighs at the bandages around his wrists. "I haven't told Aik or the healers yet. But I can't feel my left paw all that well." He whispers to the rats. He needed to tell someone. And well, he REALLY doesn't want to tell Aik.

Will nods a little. "You should tell th healers if it gets bad they may have to, like Jasper." He doesn't say it since he never told Amy what was wrong with Jasper and he isn't sure how she'd take it. She's barely stayed in any infirmary other then the one at Moledeep for very long and he sees no reason to encourage her to leave this one when she was so set on seeing Kentar.

Amethyst looks puzzled, "What about Jasper?" She's still facing the stoat and she doesn't care to strain her neck trying to face Will, who's behind her again.

Kentar sighs a little and nods. That's what he was afraid of. The stoat then blinks and looks to Amy. "Jasper...er..." he looks to Will for a moment. "Oh, he just got...er....he..." he can't think up a lie. So he tells the truth. "He lost his leg." he says. "Both of them. Well. One was taken off but the other wasn't."

Will slaps his paw over his face when the stoat explains what had happened to the old rat. He peeks from between his claws to see if hearing a friend of a friend lost a leg upset the rat-maid or not. He doubts she'd care much about Jasper but he's been wrong about guessing other beasts reactions before.

"I'm fine," the maid says a little nervously pushing her mind past what the stoat just said, "H-how's Chris and ... and," She knows this but she's drawing a blank now. "uh how are the rest of the stoat family?" she finishes not even trying to cover up that she somehow forgot Garnet's name.

The stoat sighs a little. "Sorry Amy." He then thinks for a moment. "Garnet...Chris and Garnet are fine." he says. "Garnet is shaken up. But...she'll be fine soon. And Chris really couldn't care less right now. Robin, I don't think really cares any more. I think he's just happy to have us back."

Amethyst put a paw on the cot, she's not touching him but it's there. And she leans toward him in her chair as best she can and grins, "He's not the only one glad to have you back. We /all/ are. Aik said you'd be on your feet again within the week and unless th healer's say otherwise you should be up and walking long before I am. And then we'll be on our way home." She'd like to hug the stoat but he didn't want to be touched and she can on guess at what sort of injuries he may have.

Kentar smiles a little at Amy and nods slowly. "Thank you." he reaches out to give her a hug, that pain stuff he was given finally kicked in. "I missed you. I missed both of you. It was hell thinking you all were dead." He sighs quietly.

Amethyst hugs the stoat and forces herself not to try and touch his face. "Yeah you stoats out number us so we notice when you're not there. And then th otter ran off too, t find you. But you should have know we weren't dead. You might as well be a Ta- you know. They seem to be immortal or something. I've yet to met one that hadn't cheated death more then a stupid stubborn beast, as they are know to be, has a right too." She's joking a little, she knows the Tazan clan isn't immortal but they do seem to avoid death quite frequently ... about as much as they get themselves into trouble actually.

Kentar hugs them tightly and chuckles quietly before finally letting go. "Yeah. I know what you mean. But I seem to have cheated death a few dozen times in my life too." He smirks slightly. "Maybe I should give myself a name. Kentar the mighty sounds pretty good. Don't you think?"

Amethyst says, "Yes it does til some beast wants to find out how mighty you are." Amy leans back in her chair been another long day and night from the feel of things. "Any other name strike your fancy? And that was more of a title than a name. Titles are usually earned. Like you're 'the stoat' and Aik is 'the otter' and I've heard Fira is a fish or something though that one may not count as a title so much as a pet name and you have a few of those already."

Kentar blinks. "Lets see..." he holds up the fingers on his good paw, and counts down. "Kenny. Kenty..." he thinks. "What other ones do I have? Pet names I mean." he laughs a little and then sighs quietly. "Yeah, so true. Maybe I should have Kentar the mighty as a title then." he laughs a little bit. He leans back in his bed and looks up. "Will. I've got a favor to ask." he says.

Will doesn't want to get into the details on where and when Amy heard Fira refered to as a 'fish'. Thankfully the expectant otter is otherwise occupied and not watching them. "What she's trying t say is she thought you were gonna pick a surname rather than a title but that's up to you." He nods when the stoat speaks again, "Yeah it makes a better title than surname. An Garnet might not want t be Mrs th mighty. Chris probably wouldn't mind using it though or Kluna don't know about Robin." He grins and then eyes the stoat a little before sighing and saying, "Figures. What is it?"

Kentar laughs a little bit. "I've actually got one. I don't use it though cause I think its a bit dumb." he nods then nods again. "Yeah. When you come down here next, are you able to bring me that big long cloak I've got in my chest near my bed in the cabin? I'd like it for when I leave." he says with a nod.

Will shrugs, "I kinda got two and wasn't born with either of them. I don't see why you couldn't use th same one th rest of us use, if you wanted to. You act like you're one of us anyway. And yeah I can bring your cloak next time. It's already fall an being right on th coast it'll be a little chilly at night. It's too early for snow right? Don't remember when snow usually starts t fall but it wouldn't be too good if it snowed on our way back. Not if it was a lot."

Kentar nods a little then tilts his head. "Which ones do you have?" he asks before shaking his head. "Not why I want the cloak. I want the cloak for its oversized hood. I'm uh..." he looks to the door then shakes his head. "Never mind."

Will nods, "You're one of us. I'll get it don't worry. My first surname, Redfang, started as a nickname and I'm told my birth father also went by that name when he was alive an captain on a pirate ship around here someplace long time ago. Th other one's same as Pa's and I don't really use it much yet but I'll be using it come Spring an Amy'll use it too. We already asked Pa if it was alright."

Amethyst sits quietly, she'll let them talk. Why not she's just glad the stoats are safe and from the sound of it Kentar will be just fine.

Kentar smiles and ahs, nodding. "If it makes you feel better, I think Redfang is better then mine. Kentar Cruz doesn't really sound very nice. Might change it." he thinks for a few moments and then nods. "Hehe, how does Kentar Redfang or Kentar Tazan sound?" He laughs a little.

Will chuckles, "I like th second one. Th first one just causes trouble, trust me on that. An Cruz doesn't sound bad. Chris Cruz ... Ok maybe you do have a point," he laughs.

Kentar laughs a bit and grins. "Naw, that first one sounds great! And yeah. Cruz is pretty dumb. I sort of like Sparrow. Kentar Sparrow. Hm. No. What about...oh, oh, oh! I've got a great name." he grins. "Jaden Kentar." he nods. "That sounds awesome!" he laughs a little bit.

Will chuckles, "You're not a bird and wouldn't it be Kentar Jaden? Wait are you changing your name to Jaden an Kentar is your surname now? You're a silly stoat."

Amethyst is tired but continues to listen to the sillness. "Jaden? May we call you Jade then? Jadie perhaps? Lady Jadie ... sorry couldn't help it. Why do you need another name I forget and it's late," Amy asks smirking.

Kentar laughs and grins. "Jadie. Lady Jadie! I like it!" The stoat grins then yawns himself. "Yes. It is. I think I really should get some sleep." he sighs. "I think I've tired myself out just by talking." he scratches his ear and lays back down. "You guys can stay the night if you want. Or you can get the guards to escort you home." He nods a bit. He'd like it if they stayed though.

Will rolls his eyes, "Cut it out Amy, he can change his name if he wants too." He does laugh at 'Lady Jadie' not Kentar but the name as it sound so crazy to the rat's ears. "Yeah we'll be staying. hehe," he chuckles and looks over at the otters who are now asleep. "Yep definitely staying. Wonder what Pa'll think of your new name." Will lifts Amy onto an empty cot despite the disapproving looks from the healers and stretches out beside her even though there isn't really room for the both of them on the one cot.

Kentar shrugs. "I haven't changed it yet, remember Will." he smiles before thinking. "Kentar Williams." he says quietly. "I think I like it." he smiles then yawns and nods, slowly settling in, pulling the blanket over his head and drifting off to sleep. Better sleep. No pain this time thanks to the herbs of the healers.

Will curls up with the now sleeping Amy and makes a face at the stoat's sleeping form. "Sweet dreams, Kentar," he whispers before trying to fall asleep himself.
