Two Stoats About Town

Characters: Kentar and Garnet

Location: Kentar's Village

Kentar's Cabin

Do you smell breakfast? No? Good! Cause Garnet didn't make any this morning. She is in the stoats room, putting on her tunic as usually. Standing in front of a mirror. She has to make sure it accentuates her body correctly. Fit to every curve of her. Also no wrinkles and such. But that's not nearly as important. She lightly hums to herself as she does this.

Kentar slept in a little but when he rolls over to snuggle with his wife, he finds...she's not there. He yawns and sits up, rubbing the sleep from his eye before slipping on his eye patch and looking towards Garnet. "Morning love." he smiles. The stoat stands slowly and stretches before going over to give her the traditional morning kiss. "Sleep well I hope?"

Garnet totally misses everything up to the point where she can see Kentar walk up behind her in the mirror. She mmms softly at the the kiss before replying, "Morning love. Just fine. Still getting used to it... Good thing i had a wall of fur to help me!" she laughs. She then puts on a small buckled belt around her middle.

Kentar mms and slips his arms around her. "Mm. Good to hear." he chuckles quietly, then gives another kiss. He yawns and looks around before finding one of his tunics, slipping it on. Quickly he changes out from just the regular pair of shorts he wears to bed into something better for going out and about in before standing behind Garnet, again, slipping his arms around her again, or at least trying to. "So love...any things in mind to do? I could...show you around town maybe?"

Garnet watches him change before looking back to the mirror. Cant look any better than she is right now. She smiles to herself, and places her arms on top of his, before leaning back to rest against him, "Not a thing, though i would like to see more of the village... that would be nice..." she chuckles, "Have you seen the otters? I heard them last night, and then really early this morning..." She hmms, "Probably went exploring without us eh... Alone" she chuckles

Kentar shrugs and then chuckles. "Or maybe they're with Will and Amy." he smiles a little, giving her cheek a little kiss. "But it depends really." he shrugs then blinks. "Oh...you don't know about Will and Amy yet, do you?" he asks, tilting his head.

Garnet blinks a few times, "Will and Amy? Our Will and Amy? No I don't... anymore..." she sighs and chuckles, "If they wanted to come so badly, why didn't they come with us in the first place..." she shakes her head, "Well. At least they are here now... And maybe they are with the otters. Good for them." She doesn't seem very surprised by this news

Kentar frowns a little. "They didn't want to come. They went on a walk and were captured the day after we left. Apparently they were marched out here. Will killed the hoard's leader, then they tried to climb down the cliff. Amy fell. Broke both legs...and Will jumped down then broke his arm. So." he says. "I sort of. Forgot to tell you." he frowns. 'Sorry."

Garnet elbows him a bit, "Yah great. They're hurt and you didn't tell me..." she sighs, "Why does it seem every time our friends go out. They get hurt..." she shakes her head, "Its all hard to take it all in... It hurts when it happens. Its enough to drive me up the wall" she chuckles a bit before removing herself from him.

Kentar lets go of her and nods. "Yeah. Well, they told me not to...that's the reason that I was late the night you made me sleep on the floor. They didn't want me telling anyone they were here. So. I didn't." he says before scratching his ear. "Anyways." he thinks. "Want to see the town!?" he smiles.

Garnet sighs and pushes all the stuff behind her. The less she thinks about it the better. Though she does tilt her head at the part a few nights ago. She shrugs, he still deserved it then. She stretches a bit and nods, "Yes, lead the way." she says simply.

Kentar smiles a little then nods. "Are we going to take Chris...or..." he asks, tilting his head. "I'm sure the otter family down stairs wouldn't mind watching him." he chuckles a little as he ties his sword to his belt.

Garnet thinks for a minute. She would prefer to leave them with the otters they know and love. But since they haven't been seen since early this morning. She tilts her head and thinks, "Okay... but lets not be gone too long then... just to make sure..." she looks at the sword. Another thing to push aside. She goes over to Chris who is dozing in a cavalcade of pillows in a corner. She picks him up carefully, and checks him over a few times. Nodding, she looks to her husband

Kentar smiles a little and nods, slowly, the stoat opening the door to the hall and then going down stairs. The otter family is huddled around a fire, as usual. "Can we ask a favor?" the stoat asks. The older otter nods a little, tilting his head. "Can you watch our son for a little bit? We shouldn't be gone too long." They smile a little and then nod slowly. "We'll keep him safe, don't worry.

Garnet is still a little bit unsure, but... She kisses Chris on the forehead and hands him over to the older otter, "Here you go... Be good Chris..." Chris who has awaken, reaches out for his mum, not liking to be let go from her arms "Mmmmmmm" and then the older otter begins to play with him a bit, and Chris is thoroughly distracted. Garnet sighs and slowly removes herself from the cabin and out onto the street.

Kentar smiles at the reaction of Chris to the playing. He chuckles. "Thanks!" he says before following his wife to the street. The stoat slips an arm around her then starts walking along the cobblestone pathway. "So love. Shall we see the barracks or the inn or the pub?" he chuckles.

Garnet allows him to wrap his arm around her. She seems a bit off put, by letting Chris to those almost strangers. But she will perk up soon enough. She sighs and looks at him, "Whatever you want to see first..." as they walk down the street.

Village Pub

Kentar hmms. "Well. Lets go to the pub. Maybe we'll see Will or Amy there." he says, walking to the pub. "That, and we can get some breakfast." he laughs quietly, setting his head on her shoulder.

Garnet shrugs, knocking his head around. Just for laughs. She smiles faintly and tilts her head at him before saying, "Sure" and continuing to follow him.

Kentar blinks a little then chuckles. The stoat leads her to the pub before entering. There are drinking beasts, there are eating beasts, there are drunk beasts...there are sleeping beasts. So he just leads her to the bar and sits down. "Whatever best food you've got! For two!"

Garnet sits down next to Kentar, just looking around and stuff. The bartender looks at Kentar and nods, "Welcome back. And Aye ..." and he walks off into the back room. His second soon pops up to continue taking orders while the other is away. A small mouse by the looks of him. Garnet hmms to herself, as this reminds her of home. Something she doesn't like to be reminded of. But she gets over it as she turns around placing her paws on the stool, "Seems like a nice place..."

Kentar chuckles a little and looks around, nodding slowly. "Yeah. It is a great place...or at least usually it is. Not when Aik is here." he smirks a little, the stoat thinking for a few moments. "Garnet...do you like rum or ale or something?" he asks.

Garnet looks to him and raises a brow, "Let me guess..." she chuckles as she doesn't have to. She shakes her head at the next part, "No thanks. To early to be even thinking about that. Ill have whatever they got. Water. Tea is good." she nods.

Kentar chuckles a little and then nods. "Right...tea! And tea for me!" he grins at her then he hears Amy singing. He looks to her and smiles a little but then just pays no mind to them yet.

Garnet has also heard and seen Amy. And she felt almost sick at what she saw. She keeps ignoring her and her singing. Keep the image of what she saw from her mind. The bartender has been back for a little bit, and heard what the stoats were saying. He shakes his head, "Why does everybeast want tea all of a sudden. We don't have tea... How about coffee? We have that!" he says as he places two plates at what looks like grilled fish platters, with a bit of vegetables and sauce. Garnet shrugs at the coffee, "No thanks... I'm good..." and she starts to nibble slowly on the fish.

Kentar hms a little then tilts his head. "Then I'll just have a mug of ale." he shrugs a little. The stoat looks to the meal and mms a little, starting to eat. "Not bad at all." He chuckles quietly.

Garnet continues to nibble slowly at the fish. Not really making any headway at all, as she still feels sick. She cant take that stuff much. But after a bit she nods, "Its very good. Considering what the otters like, and force to feed us. Fish wise at least... Ew... Plain.." she smirks. The bartender nods and goes over to one of the barrels behind the counter. Soon returning, he places the mug in front of Kentar. He looks to Garnet, "I can get you some water if need be..." Garnet nods a bit, "Thank you, yes. That would be nice..." the bartender nods, then goes back off into the back room again.

Kentar chuckles a little at Garnet and nods slowly. "Yeah. I agree with you." he smiles, continuing to eat before taking a sip of his ale. "Mm. I sort of missed this stuff you know..." he chuckles a little. "The fish breakfasts...the ale...the sea..." he sighs a little.

Garnet looks to him, a bit of fish hanging from her mouth. She wipes her mouth with a paw and swipes it on Kentar. Don't want to get her tunic stained after all, "But you left for good reasons. I mean you can still have that other stuff... Except for the sea part. That i cant help you with!" she chuckles.

Kentar chuckles a little bit and smirks slightly. "I didn't think you liked me drinking." he laughs quietly. "Although I'm a tired drunk..." he smiles then finishes off his fish. "Hrm. Garnet..." he starts in that 'can we talk?' sort of tone.

Garnet Shrugs a bit, "I don't. But i cant stop you. Obviously... I don't want you too. But i allow this one. Just this once." she goes back to eating and then she sighs at the next part. She turns to him and says, "M'yes Kentar?"

Kentar chuckles a little. "Well, thanks love." he smiles then sighs. "What would you say if I told you that I maybe...wanted to stay out here?" he asks.

Garnet tilts her head at him, "What?" she blinks a few times, "Why? I mean i know why you want too. But really?" she sighs.

Kentar shrugs a little and sighs. "I want to stay...because this is where I grew up. I like it so much more then I do moledeep. And much more then Redwall. But...I just...." he shrugs. "Feel right here."

Garnet blinks a few more times. She doesn't really know what to think. Kentar might feel right at home. She on the other hand doesn't. She is used to what she calls home. She likes it. She takes a deep breath and sighs. Not saying anything. Just going back to eating.

Kentar sighs a little. "Never mind." he says, finishing his ale, and looking around. The stoat thinks for a few moments. "Can we at least stay an extra few days then planned?" he asks.

Garnet finally finishes eating her fish. Still wondering where her water is. She looks back at him and nods, "Of course love. Tack on a few more days if need be. I don't mind." she leans over and kisses him on the cheek. She is glad, though she will never say that out loud.

Kentar smiles a little and leans over to give her a kiss after the kiss to the cheek. "Mm. Thank you love." he smiles. "I just." he looks around. "Feel so at home here."

Garnet nods a little bit, "I know you do. That's why i say, 'Why not' to staying here a few more days and planed. I mean the rats are not going to worry about us..." she chuckles, "No problem Kentar. Glad to do it!" And she passes back the kiss. A drunk beast behind them say , "Ooooo!" before collapsing on the table.

Kentar looks to the drunk beast then laughs as he falls over. "That's funny." he chuckles then sighs happily. His life is perfect. "So Garnet. Where should we go next?" He asks. "The barracks I think. A good place. Something I'd like to show you."

Garnet cant help but chuckle at the drunk beast also. She turns back to Kentar and smiles a little bit, "Sure. Why not. I have no idea where we could go. I mean you are the one who grew up here i mean... pay the beast and we can go..." she hops of the stool, and dusts her paws on her tunic.

Kentar pulls out some coins and places it on the bar so they can go. He smiles and stands, slipping his arm around hers, slowly leading her off. "There's a few things I really want to show you." he smiles, walking along down the path to the barracks on the beach.

Garnet lets him and take her arm. She smiles, "Really? How so?" she hmms to herself as the walk along the beach, kicking up sand as her footpaw hit the ground.

Barracks

Kentar hms a little. "Well. Paintings. Old paintings. Of my family and friends. I think you'd like my brother. Not Bale. I had a second. Have. He's alive somewhere. Not sure where though." he hehs a little bit. "Don't worry, he's not evil. He never was. He ran away from home because he didn't want to be apart of a family of vermin. And as much as I was tempted to do the same...well. I had things I couldn't leave behind." he opens the big wooden door to the barracks and lets her step inside first. To the right, is that hall of paintings.

Garnet steps into the barracks and looks at the right hall first. As it catches her attention first. She walks down it a little bit. Looking at all of them, a little confused. But sure that Kentar is about to explain what they are about.

The stoat makes sure to avoid the paintings of him and his first wife first, bringing her down to the one of his family. Bale, him, his mother, and his evil, strong looking father. The brother he mentioned isn't there though, for some reason. "That's my family. Me...Bale, mom and dad." he smiles slightly. "As much as I didn't like them...I did love them. And I sort of want to bring this home with me..." he laughs.

Garnet looks at the painting with a tilted head. Then looking at Kentar, then back to the painting. She chuckles and shrugs, "You certainly look different that's for sure..." she eyes it for a minute and nods, "That painting is a little big for to carry. Do you have any other ideas?" she says. Meaning its okay to bring it home.

Kentar chuckles slightly. "Yeah. I did. Both eyes. No scars. A nice uniform." he chuckles then hms for a moment. "I want to see if the painter who did it, would make another one for me. Smaller." he nods. "If he's around still I mean." He thinks. "Just something I can hang up in our room or something." The stoat then looks around, stepping up to a painting of himself. "This was made two or three seasons after the family one." He looks older in this one. But no scars. Hardly anything. Nice uniform. Aside from it making him look evil as anything. "I think, as evil as it looks, it looks nice." he smirks a little.

Garnet step up beside him, her paws crosses beside her, "I don't think you look Evil. I think you look stupid." she smirks and moves a bit out of the way, "Hehe! Yah. I say that because. Your not evil. Though you are portrayed as evil. That's stupid...And you too!" she moves out of the way again.

Kentar laughs and eyes her closely. "Haha, well. It still looks nice." he laughs, grinning, the stoat moving on to another one of him. This one, has him and Bale. Kentar looks so sad in the painting. And he's leaning into Bale, who has his arm around him, looking sorry for the stoat. He wordlessly stops next to it, tilting his head to a side.

Garnet chuckles and continues to follow him. She also tilts her head at the painting. And has a guess at was the event that triggered this sadness. She doesn't say anything but wrap her arms around him, trying to guide him away.

Kentar thinks for a moment but doesn't move. "I..." he pauses. "Don't remember this one." the stoat thinks for a few moments. "I'll have to ask Robin about it later..." he thinks but then shrugs as he walks away from that one. "I'm. Not sure I should show you this next one. But. I will." he walks down the hall near the middle and stops in front of a wedding painting of him and Lanai, next to each other, his head on her shoulders and her head on his, holding paws. "This...was Lanai. On our wedding day. I wanted to know, love..." he pauses. "If you would like a painting of us...something like this..." he was nervous, obviously. "They're a lot of money. But...I don't mind."

Garnet gets to the painting and sighs. She looks at it and frowns to herself, before she looks at Kentar. She gives a big ole sigh again and says, "Umm... I don't see why we need a painting like this. Kluna can draw one just like this one. But a more intimate drawing of us. I don't want out love displayed like this. In this huge canvas..." she waves a paw at the direction of the painting, "But i would like something to remember us, when where older..." she sighs, "And grayer..." not happy about that.

Kentar chuckles a little bit and gives her a hug. "I meant something for us. Smaller. Something we can hang in the halls of Moledeep. Not here. I don't want a painting here." he smiles a little, starting to move along to another painting. This one is of Kentar in front of a huge ship with a broken wine bottle in his paw, obviously having just smashed it on the side of a ship that reads 'Marie Elena' on the hull.

Garnet shakes her head, "I mean at home... silly. I don't a painting that hangs up i mean. I like just a little drawing... Something you can carry in your pocket..." she sighs and walks on after him. She blinks at the painting. This place is so weird. She tilts her head a bit and says, "Nice boat..." she can guess well enough.

Kentar laughs and nods. "Yeah. Its down at the docks now, I believe. I'll take you to see it sometime. Its a great boat." he smiles. "I want to see if that's the one the otters would like to buy for their boating trip. I helped build it you know..." he laughs.

Garnet nods, "Sounds like fun..." she moves a little closer and eyes it for a moment. Owners usually are the ones that christens ships. Not builders. She hmms to herself and continues, "Maybe. Depends on what the otters want...You did?... Must have put in a lot of work in for it..." she looks at it one more time, before looking away back at Kentar.

Kentar did own it for a while. It was his fathers ship. But he doesn't say that. "Yeah. I did. It took a long time to build. Lost a lot of good beasts doing it." he sighs slightly then walks along down till they come to a picture of a stoat. She...looks a lot like Lanai but it's not her. "She was fun." he chuckles a little. "She was the village cook. Died in the fire, sadly." he sighs a little. "No one could cook anything better then she could."

Garnet seems surprised, "You lost beasts while building it?" she blinks a bit before walking off after him. They get to the picture, and then she glares daggers at Kentar, "She was fun!?!" she hmphs until he explained who she was. She still hmphs and crosses her arms. Though that is just leftover from what she thought he meant.

Kentar nods slowly. "We did. Jasper lost his brother that way." he nods then laughs at what she thought he meant. "Haha! Yeah. Fun." he chuckles. "She used to tell all kinds of jokes while every beast was eating. Played with the dibbun's a lot too. She'd love Chris. And I'm sure Chris would love her too."

Garnet is still confused about the beasts being lost. Better not ask how. She sighs and chuckles, "Oh I see. Well I guess that was okay then. To bad she was lost or else we would go there and eat... or something..." the mention of Chris twinges her stomach a little bit. She goes over to Kentar and grabs his arm, "Come on... Lets go check up on Chris. Can we please!" she says trying to look all sad and stuff.

Kentar nods a little and sighs. "I loved her...not like I'd want to marry her or anything. But she felt like my family. Like a sister or something." he nods then eyes Garnet. "Noooo...We're not done!" he laughs then nods. "Sure we can!" he smiles.

Garnet groans and was about to make a big show, when he says no. How dare you get between a child and his mother. She frowns deeply till he says yes, "Yay... Come on... Lets go... I want to make sure he is alright."

Kentar's Cabin

Kentar chuckles and nods, going to the door and opening it for her. "There you go love! Run! Run to Chris! And away from me!" he laughs.

Garnet doesn't need any second bidding and she runs inside. The otter family are all around the fire like normal. The old otter wife has the sleeping Chris in her arms. And she chuckles and hands it to the stoat mother when she comes in. Garnet takes him and rocks him a little bit, "Ah thank you Yolou. Thank you for taking care of him" the otter wife nods, and goes back to her own children. She was more than happy to do so. Garnet smiles at her son, "Hello Chris... its me... MUM" she tries to make him say. Chris is still sleeping lady. She chuckles and heads back up the room, "I'm going to play with Chris for a bit... Then we can go look around later..." and she walks up the stairs and back into the stoats room. As she passes by, Robin and Kluner were playing some marble game on the floor. The otters are still not back yet. And Aiks pack is gone. She shrugs and goes into their room playing with Chris.
