Trading With the Weapons Shop Keeper
Characters: Aikuen, Kentar
Location: Moledeep, Anian Metals
Moledeep Entracnce
Its just after dawn over Moledeep. Aikuen is already up and a bout, watering the garden with broken buckets of water. He is now able to walk on his leg again, but he still walks funny, and still needs the crutch for balance. He finishes his work and goes over to a nearby tree, to sit and rest. He sighs and closes his eyes to take a little nap before going back indoor for breakfast.
Kentar was up as well. He wanted to be up before everyone else so he could go off and buy Garnet's ring. The stoat noticed Aikuen was up already, so, leaving his cane behind, he limps out to the yard. His limp isn't as bad as it used to be, which means he might be left with nothing but a slight scar on his leg. He was about to greet Aikuen but grins instead and slowly sneaks up beside him, tapping his shoulder. "BOO!"
Aikuen epps and falls over. He pulls out his dagger and is just about to bring it down upon the stoat, when he sees who it is. He breathes heavily and replaces the dagger, and then he chuckles, "Doing that may be the last thing you do... Ug... Matey, how are you, and why did sneak up on me!" He laughs.
Kentar grins and was about to move out of the way from Aikuen's dagger, but he sees it being set away. "Haha. Because it was fun mate!" he grins. "I'm doing great...and you?" he asks, sitting down with the otter.
Aikuen smiles, and sets himself back against the tree, "I'm doing fine, just wanted to get my watering chore done before breakfast... and i was taking a nap... I GUESS I'M NOT ANYMORE!" He laughs, "Why are you up so early?"
Kentar laughs and nods slowly, grinning. "I'm heading out to go get a ring, remember?" he smirks.
Aikuen ahs, and nods, "Oh yah... So I'm guessing your ready to go... Got all what you need to trade..." He smiles and stands up and balances on his crutch, "And i haven't forgotten... I'm still going!" he chuckles.
Kentar nods and chuckles a bit. Helping the otter up slowly. "I'm ready. I have everything." He smiles, nodding slowly. "Yeah. I know. Which is why I'm here." he smiles, nodding.
Aikuen grins, "Thanks mate!" He leans a little bit into Kentar, "Well I'm all ready... And Will said something about a place called Anvil or something or other... Says its closer smithy then Anian. I'm not quite sure where it is... But i guess its nearby... or do just want to hoof it too Anian?"
Kentar hrms and thinks for a few moments. "I'm not sure. How far is Anian?" he asks.
Aikuen scratches hie head, "Lets see... If we leave now... we can get back, about... midnight... That's if the ring doesn't take too long to make."
Kentar blinks a few times and then nods slowly. "Alright. Lets try to find the Anvil I guess." he nods slowly.
Aikuen shrugs, "Okay... I think he said that it was down the path from Moledeep and before Camp Willow...well, Lets start a moving" He nudges toward the path, and quickly make his way down it.
Kentar follows the otter quietly, the stoat thinking about the ring and Garnet. And if she'd say yes or not.
Anian Metals
After getting lost looking for Anvil (The Crimson Anvil) in Mossflower several times, the duo just decided to go to Anian. They tromp up the north path until they finally reach it just after noon. Even though they both have bad legs, they made excellent time. The otter, Aikuen, enters through the door of Anian's and leans against one of counters, "Wheh! Well we made it mate!" he sighs.
Kentar followed the otter into Anian. "Heh...yeah, no thanks to your sense of direction." He smirks a bit, looking around and yawning. "At least we got here in good time." he nods slowly.
Aikuen shrugs, "Now you know why I always let Will lead... I'm /not/ a tracker..." He laughs and taps the counter, "Oi! Anian... Get your Squirrely hide in here! I have returned!" He smiles some, as said Squirrel comes from the back of the room. He frowns at the otter, "Back again eh?... Now what do you want?!"
Kentar chuckles. "Yeah. Will actually has a sense of direction." he smirks before looking to the squirrel, smiling a bit, nervously of course, since he has absolutely no idea what kind of ring he wants.
Aikuen looks to Kentar and chuckles, "Well tell the nice squirrel what you want..." He looks to Anian, "He wants to get a ring for a lovely stoatmaid... and he needs help, picking one up." The squirrel laughs, "First you... And now him!... It must be the end of spring!" Anian chuckles as he goes over to the jewelry counter and asks, "Well... What did you have in mind, Mr. Stoat?"
Kentar looks between the two of them and chuckles a bit. "Well..." he slowly wanders over. "I'm...not sure what I want...I want a gold ring...I guess..."
Anian nods a bit and pulls out box full of display golden rings with different patterns and stone sets. He shows them to the stoat, "These are our premade rings. Just pick a pattern and then a stone, if yah want one... Then gives us her claw size and we can match the ring... The process is very simple and quick." He keeps a good hold on the box.
Kentar looks over the rings and thinks quietly, tilting his head one way, then the other. The stoat mulls it over in his mind before picking one. He points to a wonderful looking ring and then nods. "That one!" he smiles before thinking. "Er...probably this big around..." he moves his paws to show how big he thinks that Garnet's finger would be. "Yeah. That should be it." he nods.
Anian nods and says, "Alright... and that big... okay... That's fine" He takes the ring that the stoat picked out. A thin ring with a curl pattern, and a cut Diamond set. He says, "It will just take me a bit to resize it... I'll be back in a minute..." He takes the ring and goes into the back room. Aikuen smiles and nods, "That's pretty good ring you picked out... and a diamond with it too..." He shrugs.
Kentar watches Anian go off into the back before the stoat nods, looking over everything in the shop. "Yeah...I'm just wondering how much it will cost..." He sighs.
Aikuen rubs at his side, "With a diamond... Expensive... But it shouldn't be more than 100 gold... Don't know how the exchange will work... up too him to decide what it's worth..." He goes over to the Armor counter, and looks at the chain-mail.
Kentar nods slowly and follows Aikuen. "Yeah. I guess..." he sighs. "A little expensive I guess." he nods. "Should I buy it Aikuen? Or should I just let it be...or..."
Aikuen looks to Kentar, "Up too you... But the other night, you said you really wanted it... I think you should get it... But that's just me..." He touches one of the displays, rubbing a paw over the chain, "Once again the ring is just a symbol, and is not required..." He knows that he is being no help, but he doesn't want to sway his choice.
Kentar sighs and leans on the wall slightly, thinking a few times. "Then...I guess I'll get it." he nods slowly, looking around before closing his eye.
Aikuen looks away and smiles. That is what he wanted to hear. Anian comes from the back room and says, "Oi! Otter! Don't touch the merchandise!" He goes over to the stoat and shows the ring, "Is this right?" He then goes back behind the counter, and starts writing up the bill.
Kentar nods slowly then looks to the squirrel, nodding after checking out the ring. "Yeah. It's right." he nods a bit, slowly going over to be directly across from Anian.
Anian scratches his quill across the parchment, and mumbles to himself as he writes. He writes the number 93 at the bottom, and hands it to the stoat, "That is in gold... Will there be anything else, and how will you be paying for this?" He stares directly at Kentar.
Kentar watches then takes the bill, reading it over then blinking a few dozen times. "Ninety three gold?" he sounds extremely disappointed. "I don't have ninety three gold. Maybe...er...I've got something to trade?"
Anian nods, "I'm always glad to make a trade... what yah got?" He stands up, expecting big things to be traded.
Kentar thinks for a few moments before pulling off the scabbard with the short sword. He places it on the table. "Leather scabbard...great condition. No rust on the blade. Hand crafted. Made it myself a few seasons back." he offers. He doesn't want to get rid of his rapier yet. Unless he has to.
Anian takes the sword and pulls it out of the sheath. Running a paw over the edge checking for sharpness. He holds it up too his eye, and see for a bent blade, and see how the light bounces of it, for sheen. He shrugs and places the sword on the counter, and checking the scabbard. He hmms, "The blade is in... good condition, a bit dull, in sheen and sharpness... the blade is not bent so that's good... the sheath is worn, but that is to be expected... All and all I'll take it off your paws... for 50 gold... That's a good price believe me... Wont get any better price, anywhere else..."
Kentar takes a few deep breaths while the squirrel examines the blade but then his heart sinks at the offer of only 50. "Only...fifty?" He asks, sighing. "Well...Maybe not..." he sighs and pulls off his rapier. "What about this? What would this get me?"
Aikuen goes wide eyed at the rapier. He takes it, and hold it in his paws. Giving a few test slashes and jabs. He is quite impressed at it, but hides it well. He gives it the same once over as the Short sword, and places it on the table, "This rapier... is a fine piece of work... Sturdy, and shiny... and above all durable...Ill give you... ninety-f...er... 85 gold pieces..." He wants both swords.
Kentar's eye lights up as soon as the squirrel says Ninety-f...but then his heart sinks. "You were just about to say ninety five...right?" he asks. "Its worth at least that much. You know that." he sighs.
Anian eyes the stoat. He caught him, but the fight has not been won, "No...Slip of the tongue...umm...Because the the blade... It ben-... It's... um..." He has to think of something quickly, "It umm... not quite what were looking for, we have so many already..." He points to the wall of weapons, where there are no rapiers, and the squirrel frowns, "My offer is still 85..."
Kentar sighs and looks over the blade. "I still can't afford the ring if I don't get that ninety. Please...its better then all of those on the wall..." he says. "And you know it." The stoat folds his arms. "Ninety two."
Anian also crosses his arms and says "87..."
Kentar frowns. "Ninety."
Anian frowns, and look over the blade again, then puts it behind the counter, "...Done... But you still need three more for the ring..." He sneers.
Kentar watches the squirrel then blinks for a moment. "Wait...What!?" he looks at the bill. "Never mind then, no deal. I still don't have any gold at all on me and if I can't get the ring I don't want to sell the rapier." he sighs.
The Squirrel is not happy at this. He gives the biggest frowns he can possible can, and places the ring on the counter, "Fine take the ring... And i hope I don't see you again for a long time" He scoffs. Aikuen was just about to go up and 'Give' the three coins, until the squirrel said that, and he smirks.
Kentar takes the ring and nods slowly. "Just because you change your mind on something you KNOW..." he shouts the word know. "...Know...is worth at least a hundred." he eyes the squirrel before turning. "Better hope I don't see you either." he mutters, looking quite upset at the fact that he had to give up his rapier. The one thing he probably loved more then Garnet.
Anian says, "Tchaa..." before taking the rapier and storming off to the back room. The otter walks up to Kentar and says, "You did good... and in a few years... you can come back and buy it back from him...Lets go... Garnet is waiting" He pats him on the back and leads him out the door.
Dirt path
Kentar frowns. "A few years? A weapon that...GREAT...will go with the first beast who sees it." he growls. "I lost my favorite thing to that...STUPID and CHEAP squirrel." he shouts out those words so that Anian can hear. "I hate him so much..."
Aikuen nods, "Well... I know he is a cheap, " He curses loudly, "But he is a shop owner, and he needs to make a living... so i cant blame him to get the cheapest price he can possibly get for that great weapon..." His mind hatches a idea. but doesn't say anything about it, "Don't think about it too much... You got the ring didn't you?"
Kentar sighs. "But that rapier meant a lot to me..." he sighs again and places the ring back in his pocket. "I wonder. Is he the only one that works here?" he asks extremely quietly.
Aikuen frowns at Kentar, obviously hearing it, "Don't even think about it... I know there is three working here, not including Anian... You would be overwhelmed..." He sighs, "You gave up something that meant a lot... but you did it for somebeast who meant even more! I think that's a good trade."
Kentar nods slowly. "I don't care if I got the ring or not, that squirrel stole at least ten gold from me." he says. "So I'm going to steal my sword back." He nods once before stepping outside.
Aikuen shakes his head, "Don't be stupid mate..." and he follows the stoat out.
Kentar frowns. "I won't. Because I'm going to wait until tonight. Take my sword back." he nods.
Aikuen shrugs, "No, don't mate... If you can even get through the locked doors...Your gonna get yourself killed after... Please, it's just a sword..." he tries hopefully.
Kentar turns sharply towards Aikuen. "That sword saved my life more then once. Its mine, and I will get it back."
Aikuen glares back at Kentar, and taps his own hilt, "So has mine...and its been with me since i was 4 seasons old... but i would GIVE it up in a second for Fira... Its just a blade, but she is special... and I can't compare this blade to her..."
Kentar sighs. "Your forgetting one thing." he says simply. "I used to be a captain. Trained soldier. I won't get hurt, or die, because I'll be in and I'll be out. Quick as that...okay?" he frowns.
Aikuen shakes his head, and stands in front of him, and places his paws in a military fashion, "And you forget that i was a Captain also... A commander... Three-hundred beasts under my control at one time... And I was damn good at what I did... Never did anything that could majorly endanger my squadron, And even the best of beasts knowd when he is out numbered... And there is not enough information to tell if there is 4 or 40 in that shop... Once again... Don't do it... It's not worth it..."
Kentar growls. "For once in your life Aikuen, leave...me...alone!" he growls. "Please...I'm getting my sword back and I don't care what you do."
Aikuen sighs, "Fine... If you won't do it for me... don't do it for Garnet...What am I gonna tell her if you die, huh?... 'Oh he died trying to get his sword back, that he traded for an engagement ring... because he loved that sword more then he does you...'... That's just be gonna be great..." But he stands out of the way.
Kentar eyes the otter. "I'm telling you. I wont get hurt." he nods once before sitting down on the side of the road.
Aikuen scoffs and sits a bit away from the stoat. He rubs his eyes, and says sarcastically, "Yah sure... You won't die... Cause you are so sure of everything...YOU ARE PLANING TO STEAL FROM A WEAPONS SHOP! There is something in that sentence that you need to reexamine..."
Kentar keeps his eye on the otter. "Just...be quiet already. If your not going to help, just go home. I'll follow when I get my sword."
Aikuen sighs and slowly hobbles down the road, "Fine... Whatever... I don't want any part of this...But if Garnet asks where you are... I am telling the truth... 'That Kentar is going to risk his life for a sword, rather then just to go back home alive. Because he loves that sword more than you'..." He says, "Tchaa" Just like the squirrel before walking off.
Kentar sighs. "Aikuen...wait..." he stands up slowly. "I won't...I won't go in...just wait..."
Aikuen smirks. He wasn't planing to leave the stoat fully. After he left he would walk down the path a bit, then circle back in from the trees. He stops and looks back to the stoat, "Yes, and why not... Your sword obviously means a lot to you... go ahead and murder the beasts inside, and take it back... because you obviously wont get hurt from 4 heavily armed beasts...." He still lays its on thick, just in case.
Kentar sighs. "I'm...going to go in and take a look at some replacements...I was offered fifty for my short sword. I want to see what I can get for it." he nods before turning to go into the shop.
Aikuen nods slowly, "Alright mate..." He waits until the stoat goes in before giving a small pump fist to himself, then walks in after him.
Kentar stops at the door and holds his paw out to Aikuen. "Stay here. I...want to say I'm sorry for calling him stupid...I don't want to make him think you told me to..."
Aikuen eyes the stoat, as he is stopped, but he trusts him enough to say, "Okay mate... I'll be right here..." He leans against the side of the building, "Now I'll be right here..." He points to the ground, and sighs.
Kentar nods slowly and smiles a bit before going into the shop.
Aikuen watches the stoat enter the store. He sighs and sits down carefully leaning against the building, placing his head in his paws. Keeping his ears open to any tussling. He soon dozes a little bit, waiting for him. Soon, he is dreaming about his favorite topic, and smiles in his sleep.
Kentar returns after a while. A long while actually, laughing loudly to himself. He has his rapier back in its regular place. "Hey waterdog, wake up!" he grins, poking at Aikuen.
Aikuen is rudely awaken for the second time that day, but does not make to attack back but grumbles, and shoos the stoat away "Er... Wha...Oh...Hey..." He blinks for a few minutes, as he slides up the wall to stand again. He yawns and says, "So...how... how did it go?" He glances at the stoat to see if there is any blood.
Kentar is clean of blood. "I tricked him." he nods, pointing to the rapier. "Played a little game. I won, he lost." He laughs. "We bet the sword. And if he won, I bet my entire armor." he nods. "He was sure he'd win, so of course...he accepted the bet. And lost."
Aikuen blinks a few times and tilts his head at the stoat, "Really?... I guess that's okay... No blood has been split... yet..." He sighs and continues, "Lets get out of here... before he gets another idea to win that sword back..." He glances back into the store before walking south along the path again. You would think he would be happier that he got his sword back, but getting as far away from the squirrel is what was needed at the moment.
Kentar laughs and follows behind Aikuen. "Yeah. It's good." he smiles. "So Aikuen. See, I know peaceful ways to get out of things." he grins, nodding. "And I still got to keep my ring for Garnet."
Aikuen smiles somewhat to Kentar, "There is no such thing as a peaceful way to get things, for free... You just won a sword from a dishonorable squirrel... Now what is the chance that a beast, who sells weapons to beasts, wont send a beast to hunt you down..." He sighs and tries to brighten the mood, "Though I am glad you still have the ring... but let's keep moving"
Kentar chuckles. "He won't, I promise you that." he nods and gives an evil, toothy grin. "So. When do you think I should ask her to marry me?"
Aikuen sighs, Kentar's reassurance doesn't ease his tension, but he does slow some, mostly because he is getting tired, "When ever you feel is the right moment. Just don't ask her at any time, wait till its... ug... Romantic for her...Do something unexpected..." He chuckles.
Kentar nods slowly and smiles. "Sounds good." he nods before slowing down as well so that he can keep up with the otter, rather then go on ahead. "Want me to carry you home?"
Aikuen shoves Kentar lightly, "No!" he laughs, "I'm doing just great, getting around on my own... And I don't need some whippersnapper carrying me around!" He laughs and pick up his pace again, as we walks south toward Moledeep.
Kentar grins and follows. He gets right behind The otter before trying to grab around him, trying to haul the otter over his shoulder.
Aikuen yells, "What the! Hey! put me down you... you, stoat!" as he is picked up. He grumbles and doesn't fight back because he knows that he is much heavier than he looks, and its just a matter of time. "Don't hurt yourself now... I don't want to be the reason you don't walk anymore." he chuckles.
Kentar gives a fake yelp and goes to drop the otter, lightly, on his footpaws, rubbing lightly at his leg. "Oi! What's the matter with you? You eat too much sweets! Darn waterdog, trying to get me to carry him!" He grins then laughs. "Haha."
Aikuen scoffs as he stands up, dusting the dirt off him, "I didn't say nothing about, that you could carry me... and as for the sweets, well, I like 'em!" He laughs along with Kentar, "Come on you young stoat, let's not lag or else we'll never get home..."
Kentar laughs and nods, following quickly.
Moledeep
Night has fallen as the duo finally makes it back to Moledeep, with only getting lost twice...which is a new record for this otter. He sighs as he comes into the clearing, "About time... UG!" He goes to his favorite tree to sit for a bit.
Kentar sits next to Aikuen when they get home. "Finally. We need Will to make us a map or something."
Aikuen chuckles, "oh he won't... believe me I asked him... says he doesn't want to have this place on a map, because its so secluded... And I guess I have to agree!" He leans against the tree.
Kentar frowns. "Won't help me then if I ever go out for a walk. Then I'll get lost." he rolls his eye.
Aikuen shrugs, "Don't know what to tell yah, you could ask him to make you a map. if yah want too... he might for you..." He stretches.
Kentar nods. "I'll ask him when I see him next I guess." He yawns.
Aikuen nods, "Well, he might be still up... Come on... I didn't eat breakfast, and I'm starving!" He laughs as he stands.
Kentar Yawns and stands. "I'm just going to bed. I'm extremely tired." he says.
Aikuen shrugs, "Okay mate... If I don't see yah... Good night..." He walks toward the entrance, and laughs back, "And good luck!"
Kentar Nods and heads for bed. "I'll see you tomorrow Aikuen." he says before yawning and vanishing.
