Too stubborn to die
Characters: Kentar, Klaz, Pirate Crew(Spoof)
Location: Bluddwave: Main Deck
It's been a few days since Kentar fell down the hill and into the river. The strong current has pushed him far away from his home and into the middle of absolute nowhere. The stoat's face has been above the water most of the time so he's still alive and not drowned and since he has a natural ability to float, he's not going to drown any time soon. His clothes are torn and his eye patch has been taken away as the unarmed beast drifted. Slowly he starts to wake up, looking around tiredly to see where he is. "Sea..." is all he can manage to say to himself, his eye closing as he does his paw goes to his side, the dagger wound still there. "Garnet...Aikuen..." The bloodied body drifts almost lifelessly again as he drifts in and out of the waking world for what seems like years.
Sea, sea all around and nothing else in sight. Well, there is that ship over there. As luck would have it the giant form of the Bluddwave is on course to pass not far from him. Kalz stood besides the helmsbeast with a map in his paw when the beast watching ahead of the ship lets out a yell "Somethin' in the wateh!" and the captain's soon marching forwards to look himself.
Kentar doesn't see the ship, his eye still closed as he drifts soundlessly towards the ship. The stoat's breathing is slowly and his heart is shattered in a thousand pieces. Although after a few moments, he looks up to see the ship. And his need to survive kicks in as he flails about as best as he can, splashing and calling out. "Help! Help! I'm...wherever I am"
Kalz takes a little collapsible telescope out of his coat and uses it for a better look of the beast. Constant frown stuck on his face "Alive. Stoat, weasel perhaps. Probably off some other ship...Hm. Bring it aboard, there might be a wreck. Don't bother stopping. Bufon! Get a rope round it" a frog, presumably Bufon leaps down out of the rigging to grab a rope and spring right over the side, swim towards Kentar.
Kentar watches and drifts off into a semi-awake, semi-asleep state now as the frog thing swims out to him. As soon as he's within range. "Help..." is all he can force out.
Bufon doesn't seem to care much, just ties the rope up round the stoat's waist, holds onto it a bit further up and gives the signal to the crew who then start to haul the rope in and get the pair back on the deck.
Kentar is limp and even sinks a bit under the water until they're on deck. The stoat rolls over onto his stomach and coughs out some sea water that unfortunately found its way into him when he was under the waterline. His side is totally blood covered, and his arm is twisted, broken and looks extremely painful. "Thank...Thank you."
Not a whole lot of sympathy coming from the crew as they gather round to peer at the stoat, more than a few looking for things to steal before Kalz splits the crowd to have a look himself. Sneering a little at the sight of him. He draws his sword, going to use it to turn Kentar's head, look at that A "Hmmm and where might ye be from there?" never mind the broken arm, see if it's worth saving first.
Kentar pushes the sword away with his good arm. "Mossflower." he says. His armor is gone, probably left behind, so all he's wearing his half a tunic and torn trousers. His arm is worth saving, and can be saved, provided they help him. The stoat slowly sits up. "Was...in a battle. Fell down a hill...And then..." he looks over at the sea. "I was there..." his eye closes for a few moment before attempting to stand. As he goes, a dagger wound to his side is clearly visible and when he stands he just bends over, wrapping his arm around his stomach, paw covering the wound.
Kalz isn't a nice guy. His definition of worth saving is whether or not he should waste the ship's supplies on this stranger. He raises a brow at the story, staring for a moment before "Ha!" few sniggers from the crew as he raises his sword again "Hold him" few of the crowd from behind Kentar going to grab him, one twist that broken arm too "The truth now perhaps?" somehow going from middle of the land to middle of the sea seems too far fetched to him.
Kentar is in no mood to be manhandled. As soon as they grab him, he pushes them off, knocking one in the nose, the other in the stomach, but does get held still after a few moments. "It is the truth you dumb little cat. Now show me to a healer, give me a long boat, then buzz off." he growls, blinking. His left eyelid is kept entirely closed.
Kalz is the captain of a large ship, crew of over a hundred, he's far from little as he is a cat after all for all he's extra fluffy long haired one. Chances of him being ordered around are nil. Chances of him taking it well when someone tries is less than nil. He laughs again, a deep throaty chuckle "Hang him upsidedown off the yard arm, we'll see if he's a little more cooperative in a few hours time" swiftly the rope's being brought back and tossed round his legs, the crew going to overwhelm him to get the thing tied up.
Kentar didn't need this. He didn't need this at all. He tries to fight back. He can't really afford to get hung upside down right now, that would surely kill him. His mind works over a thousand options and finally he tries to lie his way out of this. "What is it you want with me? Just toss me overboard again, leave me to die." he growls. "Life isn't worth living anymore." he growls again, trying to fight back more.
He really shouldn't have insulted the captain and bossed him about, it was never going to go well, as an ex-pirate he should know this sort of stuff. Kalz puts his sword away again, quite content to watch the crew get the other end of the rope up into the rigging "It's so much more fun this way. You're assuming of course that I care if you live or die. If you choose not to answer my questions you are obviously completely useless to me" Kentar is an insignificant little bug to him, he might provided a brief bit of entertainment as he's swatted but right now he's not too useful.
As an ex-pirate, yes, he should know. But as an ex-pirate, he knows vermin just love money. "If you let me go and transport me to my home, I can make you richer then you could ever dream" he keeps trying to fight the pirates off but he ends up on his front getting dragged, Kentar growling more. He doesn't want to die. Not just yet.
Kalz doesn't say no to money but he knows bribery well. Moving to lean against the railing "So you're rich then? Don't look it. Got anythin' on you?" he's not exactly moved by the proposal since Kentar looks more like horde vermin or crew mate than royalty. Few of the crew look a little greedy though.
Kentar watches and smirks. "You'd not look it either if you've spent a few days in the sea." he says with a bit of an angry growl. "But, yeah, I'm rich. Heck I even have my own ship!" he growls. "I can make it worth your time to deliver me to the northern shore caves." he says. "More then enough for you and your entire crew!"
Kalz still doesn't really believe it but he was headed for the shore for once anyway "Felgrew! Change course to the caves" the helmsbeast getting to work and the ship soon starting to turn. The cat nods to one of the closer crew, get the surgeon, fix him up and tie him to the mast" little awwww from the crew members that wanted to throw stuff at him while he dangled "We're going to raid some caves and kill everything in sight" Kalz grins at Kentar, that gets a little cheer.
Kentar takes a deep breath and smirks. "I'd help but my arm is hurt." he smirks. "You can kill any beast on the shores, but if you hurt any of my crew, our deal is off. No riches for you and you can go ahead and kill me." he nods. The mast is better then being dangled upside down. And he'd better hope that ferret who owes him a few dozen favors is still there and not left.
And now Kalz knows he doesn't live there because Kentar doesn't care but he's going to go anyway even if it probably is some sort of trick and he's still going to kill everything. Maybe Kentar should hope the ferret's not there "And just what is the name of this ship of yours?"
Kentar eyes the cat some more. "If you harm my crew, there is nothing for you or your crew. The name of the ship is the Leviathan. Big ship. Powerful too. Probably more slaves then you have as crew." he laughs, smirking. "So cat, have you got a name or do they just call you fluffy?"
Kalz moves away from the railing as the surgeon appears in the crowd. The cat smiles, evil smile. He doesn't like being called fluffy and snaps out his paw, going to place it on Kentar's head, claws out, of course still have crew to hold the stoat anyway "My name is Commodore Kalz Feltaz and I am the one who decides if you live or die and how painful it will be for you while you are on my ship. There is no real ship larger or finer than mine" well the Ravenwing mark two is the same size but Kalz had the Bluddwave first "And if there is no money I will destroy whatever little game you're playing and kill whatever beasts your tricks lead me to and then I will carve you into coins and gamble you away until your bones are nothing but the trinket of some drunken beast in a bar somewhere"
Kentar winces and smirks slightly. "Did you memorize those lines or was it something you just thought up on the spot. I can assure you there's money. Provided you get me back to my own ship. And sure, my ship isn't as nice as yours, nor am I as good a captain as you probably are but I have more money then you. For now." he says bravely. "So. How about we make a deal. I'll act as a member of your crew until we get to my ship. And when I am safely onboard, I'll send over a few dozen slaves with the wealth you desire."
Kalz continues to smile evily. He dislikes the stoat a lot already, it's a bad start "Oh on the spot, you keep mistaking me for a fool" going to give Kentar a few scratches as he removes his paw, gesturing to the surgeon "Fix him enough to live, don't go over the top" he looks back to Kentar again "Then you're tied to the mast. Heh. Like I'd let some supposed captain wander about my ship"
Kentar smirks. "Your smarter then you look, fuzzball." he laughs. "Think I could get me an eye patch?" he asks. "Or does a prisoner not get to wear one?" he asks with a smirk. "Whatever. I just want to go home..." and then unknowingly, he speaks again. "And take my revenge upon that fox..."
Kalz rolls his eyes and gives the surgeon a little wave. He'll deal with the eyepatch. Kalz's ear does twitch to the mention of a fox "Ahh, the revenge of the small, how trivial" doesn't sound interested.
Kentar pauses and huhs before nodding a bit. "Just get me home." he growls. He does his best to ignore the surgeon.
Surgeon's none too light fingered, quickly going to reset the arm after a quick glance over. Bind and splint it and move onto other wounds.
Kentar ows and growls a bit. But he says nothing. His dagger wound is bleeding again, more then likely because his blood pressure is gone up. "Now. Do you think there's some arrangement so that I won't have to be tied to the mast, Commodore?"
Kalz looks like he's considering it for a moment while the surgeon sorts out the dagger wound, cleaning it, sewing it up and bandaging it up but "Mmm, no" is Kalz's response. He wants the stoat where beasts can keep an eye on him.
Kentar sighs. "I'll pay extra. Or heck, why not just throw me into the brig? Give you half my slaves when we get to my ship..." he nods. "No?"
Kalz smartly turns, going to head back to his cabin again "Nope!" nice to make things uncomfortable for the stoat too. He leaves the surgeon to finish up before the crew quickly tie Kentar to the mast, think up ways to mess with him without going far enough to get in trouble. Can't hurt him, can throw stuff, give him a seaweed wig perhaps, yell all sorts. He's a shiny new game for them.
Kentar just sighs as his wounds are fixed up, the stoat looking around before getting tied to the mast. "At least this is better then being dead, I suppose." He mutters. And he'll be seeing his ferret friend soon enough. Then the cat will wish he'd never been born.
