This is NOT the best way to meet new friends!
~~~ Somewhere along the river bank and ends up close to Camp Wilow~~~
Mint seemed to like to get into trouble and today was no different. She was missing her new friends and decided to go try and find them on her own.
Silverstorm is also out and about, but she is just getting some fresh air and getting in a jog and some exercise as she stops and does a few two pawed, then one pawed push-ups and starts to do some sit ups.
Aibne shakes his head as he calls out for Mint, ”Mint! Ya best get ya tail back here or yer gonna be in so much trouble!” He stays close to the riverbank, as he feels more at home close to the calming river.
Mint giggles softly and goes to hide behind a fallen willow tree, the willow tree fell sideways so it’s not all the way into the river, just a short ways into the river so the river still flows the correct way. There will be no need for worry of any floods or blocked off water.
Silverstorm frowns as she hears the voice, not knowing if it’s a friend or not . She gets out her longbow, yes she did bring it with her, and looks at her three arrows, yeah she needs to make more arrows but then again she is supposed to be getting a new rank soon, as Sister in the order, but the charter does say she can defend herself.
Aibne sighs as he is getting nowhere finding his little sister. He stops as he does see Silverstorm and watches her curious, he also notes the outfit, “ A sea otter maid lives at the abbey building?” He asks mainly himself quietly.
Mint peeks around the fallen tree and then climbs onto it as she walks back and forth along the trunk and sits to dip her foot paws into the river and kicks at small fish swimming by and smiles, giggling again this time louder.
Silverstorm sees Mint and walks a little closer, “What is a small dibbun doin’ alone. You from Camp Willow?”
Unseen in the river is a very large pike, and it’s hungry. The large almost 6 foot long pike, an eel like fish with greenish olive scales and razor sharp teeth and a powerful tail can be a dangerous thing to come across and it has its eyes set on the dibbun sea otter.
Aibne doesn’t see the large pike or trust me he be rushing over to the other two otters, he simply watches the other two and stays where he is.
Mint looks up quickly and smiles “Me is Mint, and me have brother, he older brother and he is ummms..somewhere?”
Silverstorm nods “I am Silverstorm, I live at Redwall Abbey but right now we are all on a little bit of a trip to different place that are important to the abbey.”
Aibne smiles and braves the unknown by stepping closer to the two “Silverstorm is a lovely name for a beautiful otter maid like yourself miss”
The pike swims closer to the edge of the willow that’s in the river water and then suddenly slams against it with its large body. The event will for sure shake this part of the tree and maybe even break and splinter in some.
Mint jumps up and down and giggles “Aibne me find friend…AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” The dibbun’s joy turns to pure fear as she falls into the river, she can swim yes but when you see something from a nightmare you are suddenly having a bad day and she quickly goes to swim away, but further into the water and towards the rivers center. The willow tree has splintered at the top and side and pieces float off down the river.
Silverstorm gasps as the tree is splinted some and looks at Aibne as she is unsure what to do.
Aibne smile fades and is replaced by total fear “Mint! No! Swim to the shore, the shoreline!” He is already diving into the river to get to his sister and goes to pull his short sword out and slices at the large pike.
The pike goes to try and wrap it’s self around the dibbun’s foot paws, when he is stabbed on the side it violently slams it’s head towards the otter in hopes of knocking him back. Then again the larger otter would make a better meal so the small one is forgotten as he goes to try and bite Aibne.
Mint screams under the water and then resurfaces and coughs as she looks around franticly, “Bad fishy, bad fishy!”
Silverstorm gets to the edge or whats left of the edge and fixes an arrow onto her longbow and goes to take aim at the large pike, carefully she then releases the arrow. She is not an expert with the bow and arrow but she is average.
Aibne kicks the pike with his legs, The teeth scrap across his ankle and leave a line of red. He swims upwards as he sees his younger sister heading to the surface and he needs to stay clear of the arrow as well.
The pike goes to try and get the smaller otter again and is just about ready to snap its jaws onto her foot paw to drag her under when it lets out a strange sound as the arrow hits it in the eye and does a circle and with its good eye it seems the reason and cause of its pain and at full speed it crashes into the edge of the willow tree once more.
Silverstorm loses her balance and falls into the river, a strong wave from the pike causes her to get throw further into the river and normally it wouldn’t be too bad, even with a few large bits of branches, wood and leaves all around but unlike most otters she can’t swim! And she barely manages to stay afloat and goes under, she coughs as she drops the longbow and quiver, two arrows and all sinks to the river bottom and she could care less as she gets out “Help me! Help!” Her worse fears have come true as she is drowning and on top of all this there is a large fish with razor teeth somewhere in the same river as she is! She coughs and sinks under the water again.
Mint sees the shadow down under the water and swims faster, she gasps as the arrow just misses her but hits the pike, she shivers as she watches in horror as it goes to Silverstorm “No no friend!”
Aibne calls out “Mint get to shore go!” He goes to dive under the water and get Silverstorm, at the same time keep an eye out for that stupid fish.
The pike quickly goes to attempt to wrap its tail around Silverstorm’s leg, if it succeeds it will drag her further under and if it doesn’t there is always try again, its vision is a bit messed up, yeah yours be too with an arrow in it. He doesn’t see the other sea otters now.
Silverstorm is sinking and not able to hold her breath long, she panics, and panics more as she feels the large pike brush against her and forces herself to try and get to the surface of the water, managing to get a quick breath of air she quickly grabs ahold of a branch and looks around in fear.
Mint makes it to shore and looks out over the river, “Aibne..Aibne!”
Aibne takes the chance and stabs at the pike again, this time trying to make sure the sword goes deep into its side, if its distracted there is more of a chance to hit it this time.
The pike gets the sword deep, deep into its side and it even pierces a lung and further angers the beast as it madly thrashes around as blood fills the area of the water it and the otter is in. It tries one more time to sink its large jaws around the otter, it does see a shape out of its good eye and aims that way.
Silverstorm still holds onto the floating branch and looks over at Mint on shore, “Stay there!” she calls out and gulps, why oh why did she decide to take a walk, she could of and should of asked someone to come along. Then again she wouldn’t be able to live with herself if she did that and they had become fish chow. She tries to move her paw as a paddle to get back to shore and it seems to be slowly working.
Mint nods and sits down as she starts sobbing uncontrolled.
Aibne meanwhile wants to make sure this pike can’t hurt anyone else, he grits his teeth as the pike bits down on his leg and sinks its teeth into the area under the knee, he uses both paws to grip the blade and forces it down and to the left with all his strength he has.
The pike makes another unheard of noise after it had managed to make a good bite mark on the otter’s leg, and causes even more blood to spill. But the otter does manage to move the sword down and across somewhat, the sword is likely stuck in the pike till the end of time as it tilts sideways and goes into its heart and into the backbone where its stuck fast and good. The pike thrashes back and forth and soon its good eye mists in deaths grip and it sinks and falls to the river bottom.
Silverstorm eyes widen as she sees blood and panics, she has no clue whats happen or where they are by the river as she calls out “Help! Some beast any beast!”
The cries are answered as a couple otters come out of the woods off the shoreline and go to jump into the water, one to get Silverstorm and one to get Aibne and check on the pike.
Mint only cries more and whimpers. She jumps a little and curls up as a couple large blurs of brown fly past her, she then sees they are otters and calms some.
Aibne manages a weak smile and his eyes close as he slowly starts to fall downwards, he doesn’t feel the other otter get under his arms and lift him out of the water, he doesn’t feel himself laid on the shoreline and looked over, He groans and vomits up some water and shivers as he slips into a deep faint.
Silverstorm looks at the otter close to her and allows herself to be helped back to the shore and rushes over to Mint and hugs her, she doesn’t know the dibbun but she just hugs her and looks over at Aibne “Is he…?”
The otter shakes his head, “No he lives but he needs a healer. We have one at Camp willow and can take you there.” The other otter nods as he lets his friend tend to Aibne. The otter’s wound is tightly bandaged and he is picked up and rushed off by the fast running otter as the other looks to Mint and Silverstorm to follow.
Mint grips onto Silverstorm and hides her face in her robes.
Silverstorm is unsure, “But..the others, Redwall beasts will worry. Abbot Benar will need to know I am ok, they are heading to Camp Willow with in a day.”
The kindly otter nods, “Then we will send a message you are ok and in the camp, as well as the dibbun and your friend. Let us go please the camp is not too far from here.” He then goes to lead the way there.
Mint looks uncertain but will trust Silverstorm
Silverstorm nods and picks up Mint, she then follows the otter to Camp Willow as she carries Mint.
