The battle of the grumps! Zork vs. Angela! THE ABBEY IS DOOMED!!!!
RW Abbey: Infirmary
Several beds are lined against the red sandstone walls of the Abbey's Infirmary. An examination table, separated from the rest of the room by hanging blankets, rests against the far wall. Tucked into a small alcove is a sizeable workbench with various containers for mixing and preparing medicinal compounds. Against another wall is a desk for use by the Infirmary Keeper. A curtained off alcove behind the desk hides a locked door to the Infirmary's supplies and linens.

Zork the badger. Angela the mouse and Nissaya the otter (and yes, I got permission from Rorgan to run him). William the otter.
Zork sighs, he did leave once to go try and go to his room, but thought better of it and came back to the infirm after a short talk with his uncle, and now he is, for the time being, laying down and frowning. Hmms, seems he is a little grumpy today.
He's not the only one who's feeling grumpy today. Angela the herbalist was pleased to begin with to having been left in charge of the Infirmary, but the amount of things that are happening is just ridiculous! It's like everyone decided to get minor injuries now that Leon is gone! It's ridiculous!! Bee stings, wasp stings, sprained ankles and wrists, cuts, bruises, scrapes. The old mouse is being driven stark raving mad! She stumps around the infirm, checking on patients, murmuring advice to various Novices. Nissaya, the albino otter, is following her around, taking notes of what she says about each patient. When they reach the badger's bedside, she goes to feel his pulse as she mutters, "Ye're a crazy coot, sonny. Yer makin' me feel ragged with worryin'."
Zork lets her feel his pulse, which right now is fairly normal pace, "Wot? I been in here all morning....well most of the morning anyways." He sounds a little tried, and maybe a little moody.
Angela shakes her head in frustration after telling Nissaya the pulse rate. "Ye shouldv'e been more careful in the first place! Yer not a Dibbun any longer? And what do ye mean, 'most of the morning'? Did ye sneak out of here?" The albino otter grimaces slightly and jots down the pulse rate on his sheet for Zork. He's obviously been listening to the old mouse grump for the past few days. It's getting very tiring for him.
Zork frowns "Ummm...did I say that, hee hee and hey de dibbuns, bout 4-5 of em, just wanted some fun and it were fun" He smiles "Lot of fun, well till got a wee bit out of breath, then it were not so fun and I did leave fer only an hour"
Angela's lower eyelid begins to twitch. She looks about ready to explode into a fluffy ball of fury. "Ye...left the Infirm...give me one reason why I should not TIE YOU TO THE BED!!!" Nissaya the otter backs up a little, and all other activity in the Infirmary ceases.
Zork looks at the old mousemaid and then folds his arms over his chest, "'Cause...that be...well stressful and I came back, had ta talk to me Uncle bout...some stuff" Zork says, "And...well me tea, ya see its in me room so, yeah"
Angela is literally twitching with pent-up rage, and she waves her stick about an inch from the badger's face. "Ye could've gotten more tea in here! Or sent a Novice to get it! So 'elp me, I've half a mind to whip ye like a misbehavin' Dibbun!"
Zork frowns as he looks at the staff and then goes to gently move it "Oh calm ya self, I rarely do much, a little fun be good fer a beast."
A young otter attempts to stealthily enter the room from the door to the Open Ground, intent of finding someplace to keep to himself. He peeks about quietly, and starts to slip off into a quiet corner without being noticed.
Angela growls as her staff gets moved and goes to slap the badger's paw with it. "Except for you! You need to find other ways to 'ave fun or ye're gonna kill yerself, and then what'll I tell yer daughter?" Nissaya notices the other otter, and goes towards him, smiling. "Do you need any healing?"
Zork rubs his paw as its slapped and glares a bit at the old mouse "Hey watch it you!" He then slowly sits up and starts to look for his own walking staff, "Not gonna..." He starts to stand and then slowly sits back down again, ok he started to get up a little too fast so he stays sat down on the cot. "I...know ta be carefull, 'tis just hard to sit around and do not much of anything and who else would of played with the dibbuns? Not like I got up and ran around, not that I can anymore..." He frowns "Or...stand, or walk even"
William frowns briefly, and shakes his head. He doesn't need medical attention, he just wanted some peace and quiet. He glances around, then tries to smile a little, to give the impression he's just fine, but the smile comes across as strained and insincere.
Angela growls and stumps the end of her staff against the floor. She's obviously struggling to control her frayed nerves and mounting anger. Nissaya tilts his head a little and asks gently, "Are you sure you're alright? Can I get you a cup of tea?"
William hmms, as if weighing the offer in his mind, then shrugs and nods. May as well accept some tea, might calm his nerves, which had been a bit on edge ever since he'd showed up at the Abbey a few days before. He nods twice more, while stealing a glance toward the apparently angry mouse. He decides not to bother her.
Not bothering Angela is probably the wisest decision anyone can make today. As the activity in the Infirm resumes, Nissaya nods and heads over to the counter, where some tea has been steeping all day. He pours some for himself and for the other otter, then comes back and hands the Abbey guest his cup. "Here. Mint and comphry, with lots of honey. It's quite good." He sits down and sips his tea, then adds, "My name is Nissa. I'm a Novice here. Welcome to Redwall."
William accepts the cup, and nods slowly. He takes a little sip, watching the activity in the room, and listening to Nissa. He nods again when welcomed, but doesn't otherwise respond or say anything. Not even to reply with his name.
Nissaya is very curious, but he understands how annoying and sometimes hurtful it can be when beasts keep asking you questions you don't want to answer. Or can't answer. After all, he is a white otter with pink eyes...he gets weird questions allot. "Are you new to the Abbey?" he inquires, deciding to stick to questions that require simple yes and no answers.
William looks up from his tea, and shakes his head no. He holds up one finger. The white otter seems friendly enough, so he decides to answer for now.
Nissaya is thinking that this other otter is mute. Which is fine. Everybody's special, right? He tries to understand what is meant. "You've been here for a day? Is that what you mean?"
William shakes his head. Three days, actually, but he has no idea how to convey that. He holds up a paw, and points around the room in general, and out the window. He keeps pointing around, then hold up two fingers.
Nissaya scratches his nose, blinking. He then randomly asks, "Can you read and write? If not, that's okay, not everybeast can, and it's nothing to be ashamed of. It would just probably make your life easier, if you can, to write down what you're meaning. We have more than enough paper here at Redwall. You can use some."
William's eyes light up and he nods excitedly. He mimes writing and nods, smiling. Much easier.
Nissaya grins and stands. Going over tot he cabinet, he gets a blank-paged book and a charcoal pencil. Coming back to the newcomer, he hands them to him and says, "Here. These are for you to keep. Redwall has plenty."
William nods, accepting the pencil. Opening to the first page, he quickly writes, "Thank you. Last one I had ran out of pages." The otter frowns. "Call me Will," he hastily scribbles at the bottom, then holds it up for Nissa to read.
Nissaya reads the note and smiles. "My pleasure. It's nice to meet you, Will. I hope you're enjoying your stay here at the Abbey."
William nods his head, and jots down, "I am. Nice place. Good food. My second visit." He smiles.
Nissaya nods and sips his tea. "Do you mind my asking where you hail from, and what brought you back here to the Abbey?"
William shakes his head. He doesn't mind. "Camp Willow," he replies. "Parents are gone, though. Liked Redwall before. Wanted to come back." He grabs his teacup and takes a sip.
Zork has been quiet, very quiet since the small little argument with Angela and may have even fallen asleep a short while but is now awake .
Nissaya snaps his fingers. "hey, the Abbot left with a processional last week. I hear next week they might be in Camp Willow. I find that interesting. I'm glad you liked out Abbey. I'm sorry about your parents. That's awful."
William nods again, and sighs. At the mention of the Abbot visiting Camp Willow, he leans forward, showing interest. He grabs the pencil and writes, "Why in Camp Willow? Special reason?"
Nissaya shrugs. "I'm not sure. I think it had something to do with historic places in Mossflower."
William seems to understand, and nods. He glances out the window as he sips the last of his tea. Looking down with a small yawn, he queries, "Is it okay if I nap here for awhile?"
Nissaya smiles gently. "Of course." He brings over a light sheet, then goes back to helping Angela (who seems to have calmed down significantly) in her duties as temporary Master Healer of Redwall.
Thanks for reading! And sorry if I'm botching Nissaya's personality. I'm not that great at RPing chars that didn't start out as mine :(
