The Travelers Return Part Three
Characters: Will, Fira, Kentar, Aikuen, Garnet(spoof), Nidlorf, Zen
Location: Redwall Infirmary
Redwall Abbey: Infirmary
Aikuen scoots over to the other end of the bed, near Fira and reaches out to grab her paw. He smiles to her and says, "Do you mind doing me a favor?"
Fira looks back down to Aikuen again as her paw's taken "Hm? Sure, what do you need?"
Nidlorf is still 'sobbing'.
Will walks passed to squirrel to sit by Aikuen, "Any better?"
Aikuen he smiles and says, "tomorrow after breakfast, could you meet me at the abbey pond, and bring some breakfast to me. Im gonna see if i can do some 'angleing' ill most likely have a crutch, so i wont be able to carry it with me!" He laughs a little bit. He glances back at the squirrel, but doesn't say anything
Fira is ignored by the squirrel for the second time, well, she gave perfectly reasonable advice, not her fault if he doesn't listen. No sympathy from her anymore and she doesn't even look to him again. Makes the world much brighter. She tilts her head faintly at Aikuen, smiling a little "Sure. I'll find something nice and even bring my hook and line along to join you"
"N...nhh...get...get way..." the stoat murmurs in his sleep, shifting a bit and groaning a bit in pain. All of a sudden he shoots up and lets out a pained cry. "No! Get away from me! Help! Help!" Kentar cries out starting to bat at the air before realizing he's at the abbey, arms slowly resting at his side as he very slowly looks around, panting hard.
Nidlorf looks up, apparently it's not working either... he stands, indignant once again, and huffs in his usual manner, "Well, seems as though the lot of you are likewise content to sit by and lose loved ones to that monster and his mouse accomplice. See if I care what happens to your friend!" He looks oddly at the stoat's outburst, but then remembers he doesn't care! He marches out of the room, knowing there /has/ to be fresh bait for the fox somwhere!
Will turns to glance at Kentar, "Hey, you're wake and still alive. Need anything?" The rat's ears stay mostly on the conversation between the otters.
Aikuen gives Firas paw a squeeze, "Thanks! Id love to have company!" He looks to Will, and taps his splint, "I fell great mate... I wont be able to use my leg for a time, but other then ... Matey! are you alright!" He looks to Kentar as he thrashes. When its done he asks, "Are you okay matey? What happened?"
Kentar slowly sits down and sighs quietly. "I...t-t-thought...he was here..." he says quietly though his bandages, the stoat resting for a few moments. "I thought...there...was g-g-g-gonna be....more pain..." he then sighs again.
Fira only notices Kentar's awake again when the other two look to him and she fall quiet again, just watching, eventually she'll probably even end up dozing off
Aikuen looks to Kentar, "Your safe now..." He sighs, "No more pain matey... no more pain... How do you feel?"
Will sits next to Aikuen on the otter's cot, Fira has fallen asleep as has Garnet. The rat watches Kentar as best he can, the bandages help.
Aikuen winces and protects his head, as a precaution. Seeing that there are no rock missiles, he looks back at the stoat, "What is it mate... I hope its not another rock... cause i didn't like the last time you gave that too me..." He chuckles to help the staot feel better.
Kentar sighs. "I'm n-n-not in the mood t-t-to laugh A-Aikuen...you'll k-k-know w-w-when I g-give it to you."
Aikuen nods a little, "Okay... No more jokes... What is it... or are you not going to tell me, and why are you giving it to me in the first place?" A lot of questions but peeked the otters interest.
Kentar frowns although its hidden. "Either get over here...or wait until I can get to you..." he says simply.
Aikuen shrugs, "I don't know if i can do that?" He looks around for a long stick to use as a crutch. not seeing anything, he lets go of Firas paw, and get over near as he can to Kentar is sitting. He looks around, and says, "I don't see anything mate that can help me walk over there... I'll just have to wait..." He sighs and frowns.
Kentar nods slowly and grins a bit. "Aww...poor...poor....poor...poor otter." he grins before sighing and laying back again. "I'll...just give it to you...tomorrow...or whenever..." he then pauses. "So glad to be back.
Aikuen nods, "Yah it is... though were here only a few hours... and we are already being persuaded to be hired to kill the fox..." He laughs and shakes his head, "Im poor? you there one in almost a full body cast... Oh... You were making fun of me..." he grunts.
Will's ears twitch and he grins only half asleep.
Kentar doesn't chuckle but its clear he wants to. "I...if...it wasn't for...Mayeul, that traitor...I'd..not have been...tortured..." he sighs. "So...I guess...I'm worse off then y-you." he then smirks. "I may...not have the...looks anymore...but I have the intelligence still..." he nods.
Aikuen looks to Kentar, this has been nagging him for a bit, "Why do you think Mayeul turned you in, and why? What do you know... that the fox wanted..." He asks.
Kentar sighs. "The...fox offered...the mouse life...and to stop chasing him...if he brought the fox...one of us...and he got...me..." he sighs again. "He...Mayeul...was being told to push me off into the ditch of the foxes den...and...it would have killed me...but he pushed the fox instead...and let me escape...I don't know if I can forgive him still.."
Aikuen takes a deep breath, "So Mayeul... is not really a traitor, sort of... if it was me, back in the day, i would go and do what the fox did to me and do it too him..." He rubs his eyes, "What are you going to do? When you get better..."
Kentar thinks for a few moments. "I do not know what I'll do. Either hunt Mayuel and kill him. Or just stay with you and Will at Moledeep...and stay there forever..." he sighs. "I don't know."
Aikuen sighs, "I... We...would like that if you didn't go out looking for him. Just stay with us, and if you do come across Mayeul... Ill look away..." That left an odd feeling in his stomach, and shakes his head, "No... I wont... I cant do that... Just don't go looking for him..."
Kentar nods slowly. "I don't...I don't know yet..." he replies quietly.
Aikuen sighs, "Alright... But give it time, maybe you'll change your mind..." He sighs again and carefully scoots back, to lay back down on his bed. He rubs his eyes again and says, "If i ever see the fox again... i hope that you are with me... and we can both take him down..
Kentar shrugs a bit and winces. "Don't worry...We'll kill him...slowly...together..."
Zen slowly makes his way into the Infirmary, peeking his head in. He remebered hearing about some injured beasts or something, so he decided to check in on it. He squeeks softly,"H... hello?"
Aikuen has that odd felling in his stomach again, but smiles a little, "...yah, we will..." He looks to the door when he hears a voice, "Hello? Whos there?" Cant see the top of Zens head, so don't know who.
Will twitches some in his sleep.
Kentar sighs to himself quietly and peers over towards Zen, unable to see properly though his bandages. So he doesn't try. Instead he just looks at Aikuen again. "See you tomorrow..." he then drifts off to sleep.
Aikuen nods to Kentar, "Night, Kentar See yah..." He hmms and looks back to Zen, "Heyo Zen, Im fine, and This pile of bandages over here is Kentar, he is... alright for the moment..." He smiles a bit, "Were just mostly glad to be here, with friends to help us..." He sighs
Will stirs a bit but remains asleep.
Zen nods his head, glancing at the 'pile of bandages'. "OH... I see... Uh... can I help any? I... I can while I'm still here. I'm going to be going someday soon."
Aikuen shakes his head, "Nah... were all fine here matey... but thanks for the help..." He tilts his head, and laughs, "Actually, some vittles would be nice... haven't eatin' since yesterday night..." He doesn't ask about why he is going...
Will opens his eye but does get up, "Mmmph?" He smells cheese and mouse, not surprising this being the Abbey. "Is that Zen or some other mouse. He sits up rubbing his face, "About time somebody fed us," he grins over at the mouse.
Aikuen takes the bit of cheese, and takes a big bite, "Thanks Mate!" He chews on it a for quite awhile before asking, "Why are you all packed, and stocked up on food? Where yah going?" He takes another bite, winking to Will.
The rat sticks his tongue out at the otter for not sharing. "Great just as I come back you're leaving," he teases the mouse.
Zen squints his eyes and smiles at Will, "Oh yes! This was for... uh.." He digs around in his pockets and grins. "Uh! Seems I ran out!" He snickers and jokes, though he's holding out a wedge to him. "Hehe, I know! I'm going to find my uncle though.. I'm going to Ruingate."
Aikuen nods to Zen slowly, "Are your sure that's a good idea..." He shrugs, "If your sure..." After Will receive the other wedge, he tosses his wedge to him. He leans back in his bed, and closes his eyes.
Will sets the cheese down hearing the mouse's words. "Zen, you can't go there. Mayeul doesn't want you to go find him. We saw him and he'll either come back here or he won't come back ever." He looks to Aikuen, "Did Kentar say if he got away or not?" The rat tries to be nice about it but his next step will be even less welcomed then this one probably is.
Aikuen was dozing a bit, but did manage to catch that, "Er... He said that he did, he dosen't know where...or how though..." He hmms, and goes back to dozing.
Zen blinks at Will. "Er.. wh... what? Mayuel is my uncle.. Why wouldn't he want me to see him?" He blinks a little and scratches his head, his ears wilting. "Why are you so mad at me... I just want to see my uncle, sheesh!
Will nods to the otter, "Sorry Zen. He had been captured when he went to rescure Kentar there, but sounds like he got away too and is on his way back here already. He left Ruingate a while ago and had joined us on the way back but then that vermin fox caught Kentar we all fought him and your uncle went to go rescue Kentar from the fox. And Kentar is back now but the fox did terrible things to him so he's in here. And Mayeul escaped the fox and ..... Did he kill the fox?" he asks Aikuen.
Aikuen shakes his head.
Zen nods his head slowly, then blinks. He remembered the fox. He had even seen him, that odd fox. "Ugh.. Oh... wh... well.. wh.. where is he now? I... I've gotta find him... He's all I got left." He nods his head a little and sits on the floor. "He... he is ok, right?"
Will curses because the fox still lives and then says to Zen, "Well your uncle escaped and he'll come back here and will be very happy to see you /here/ when he gets back. We don't know where he is but if you go out there the fox could get you. Do you want to end up like Kentar or dead?"
Zen thinks a moment and shakes his head. "I-I want to know where Mayeul is and I need to find him now.. If... that fox is still alive, he could get to Mayuel before he gets /here/.. I don't want that to happen.. I... I gotta find him now.... and I'll have Kun with me... He's an incredible fighter... Hehe, he's the one that killed my dad infact."
Aikuen quietly shakes his head, but not going to expose the truth behind Mayeul and the Fox. He turns on his side, and begins to snore lightly.
/Real comforting/, the rat thinks to himself, "Ok Zen go if you want. I'll miss you of course /Flicky/ will too. Before I'd go after you or something but not now. I'm staying at home for once where it's safe ..... safer anyway. You want to go get caught by the fox go ahead. South and to the grasslands by the meadow, though since he got out Mayeul's doing better than he did before .... We fight the fox tryin to rescue Kentar and /your uncle/ is layin on the ground cryin th whole time and then he yells at Skuld t go an kill th fox when all she's got is a dagger an th fox is usin Kentar for a shield an has poisoned daggers! Yeah he'd been caught by th fox before and I'm sure it was bad I know what that fox does t beasts, I've saw it with both eyes alroight! You go, go an get killed or find Mayeul or whatever." The rat sighs, "I'm sorry. I've been gone almost a month and seen many beasts die and then that fox came back and .... I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that about your uncle .... He did what Pa asked
... what Pa told him t do, Kentar is back and might live. He tried real hard t keep us away from th fox an that fox killed Odillo and then came after us ..... I'm sorry Zen, I went back home and everyone died .... Rose is dead, she found me and my real brother on the beach half drown an took us in and now she's dead. All th beasts that lived there are dead now, Pa killed the fox dibbun that killed them and Rose. That mouse in armor told me t come back here and side from goin t Moledeep, I don't plan on leaving again for a good long while. If you can kill the fox and if you get caught .... try to not die and get away soon as you can."
Zen doesn't know what much to say or do, but he's not happy the slightest. "Look... just... chill out... Your sad because you lost people you cared for, well.. I've only got maybe two people I truely care for, so sorry... I've got to find Mayeul..." He then thinks a bit, shaking his head. "An' so what? If this Kentar was so strong, that would take both the fox's arms up so yes... even I could have probly stabbed him... and... I know Skuld.. She's a good friend of mine... Just... look... THINK... before you speak, ok? I've leanred that lesson... I don't care about any of that, I just wants Mayuel... Ok, /I'm/ tired of loosing my family..."
"Your...uncle...set us up...with the fox...and if it weren't...for the mouse...I'd not...be hurt...your uncle is dead...kid..." Kentar says tiredly from his cot. "If your...uncle had...never come to us...I'd never have...been tortured...for those days..."
Will sighs, "Zen, He's a stupid stoat who can't fight back right now leave him alone."
Will growls, "You're /not/ helping, Kentar."
Zen blinks at what he hears, shaking his head. "Uh.... M.. Mayuel... w... was a very... kind mouse. He... he.. he wouldn't... dare... He..." He blinks, trying to peice it together. "Maybe.. it.. was all a big accident or.. maybe he had a good reason.. I just...." He shakes his head and sighs. He turns to Will, "You should realy quit calling people stupid.... It's not nice, but.. I.... if.. what he says.. if it's.... it's true... I mean, look at him. You can't say he's faking being hurt.... but if what he says is true... I... I need to know... I have to find Mayeul and ask him.. I.. I know he wouldn't lie to me..."
Will rolls his eye at Zen's comment and says, "Kentar, do you know who you sound like right now?"
Zen starts to ignore Orph after saying on last comment to him. "Fine... be that way... but that's what seaparates beasts from vermin." Once again, his strong obession with vermin. He turns to Kentar, getting up to stand by his cot. "I.. I know... what I could be getting into... Heh, I've.. I've been there once... Heh, one fox cought me and.. he carved a measage into my back and whipped me silly! Hehe, I've got my left arm burnt in a fight with /SOMEONE/... and I've been a slave for a while.. Hehe, what could possibly happen to me that I haven't had already?"
"Death." Kentar simply replies. "You...could die...or go through what I went through...and it could have been...worse. Please, just...wait...wait until Mayeul comes here...I know he will...trust me..." his eye flicks towards Will. "Who?"
Will leans back, "Ok, I'll /try/ to watch what I say around you. I gave you that bow and you said everything was ok. Hm? Oh who you sounded like? You sounded like Mayeul just then some of it anyway. Thought you were asking something else for a minute there."
Zen's ears flatten out at the word. "Oh... well.. I... I guess your right.. I.. I'll wait till he comes here..." He lowers his head a bit and scratches at one of his ears. "The only ones that deserve death are vermin..." He then glances over towards Orph and gives a slight nod and a smile, then tilts his head at Kentar, waiting to see his reaction.
Kentar blinks and then frowns and even lets off a low growl. "I'm a stoat...Will is a rat...does...that mean...we deserve...death?" he asks.
Will signs, "Zen you need to work on what you say to beasts too. Calm down, Kentar. I doubt that's quite what he meant and fighting isn't allowed in the Abbey as I'm sure th healers will remind us if we get too loud."
Zen shakes his head at Will. "No, I-I meant exactly what I said. Vermin deserve to die.. That's why I'm going off to train with me step step father." He turns back to Kentar and shakes his head. "Oh no... that doesn't make you vermin to me.... My dad was vermin... and I'm glad he's dead.... but he was a mouse." He nods his head, "I think vermin are beasts that do bad things to hurt others.... Those people need to go."
Kentar takes a deep breath and nods very slowly, giving a microscopic smile. "Good mouse..." he nods again. "Sorry...about taking it...the wrong way."
Will chew on his lip some, "What about beasts like Flicktail that were bad and then stopped and did good stuff or just stopped doing bad stuff?"
Zen nods his head and smiles. "It's ok... Oh, well... Is Flicktail a vermin now? Hehe, I don't think so... so there's no need to for him to go." He smiles a little more.
Kentar watches Zen for a moment. "Or...what about me?" he asks. "I was...evil...for a while...and I still want...to kill Mayeul...for this...What...does that make me?" he asks. "I wont...kill him...I can't...kill him..." he sighs.
Zen thinks a moment and stares at Kentar, his ears drooping. "Ughn.. w... well.. y-you don't seems like a bad beast an... I mean... it's not like I haven't wanted to kill a beast.... so... I guess you wouldn' be vermin.. bu... but..." His ears droop a bit more. "I... I would... try to protect Mayeul if I could..."
Will lay back down and nibbles on the cheese, "Kentar's not gonna kill Mayeul anyway so don't worry. Sides he won't be out of th infirm for a while .... well he shouldn't be though knowing him he will be as stuborn as the otter." He grins closing his eye.
Kentar nods very slowly. "You don't...have to protect him...against me..." he looks over to Will before chuckling quietly. "I wont...kill him...regardless if he did this to me or not...in the end he still saved my life...I consider his...debt...repaid for that..."
Zen smiles at Kentar and nods his head, gently reaching into his sleave and pulling out a cheese wedge. He sets it down on the edge of the cot. "Ok... I.. I-I'm going to rest up... please try and be happy. I don't think you's a bad beast at all." He then smiles and waves a paw to will as he starts to dart off. "Oh, and I'm Zen Malori Fetcher, but I won't need to tell you that in a few seasons! Hehe, I'll be known by all then!" He snickers softly.
Kentar eyes the cheese and then it suddenly dawned on him no one bothered to bring food to him. "Heh...I'm sure you will...thank you." he smiles at the cheese before trying to pick it up with his bandaged paws. Nope. Didn't work. Then he tried to pick it up with both. Again, that didn't work and each time he dropped it a little further away. But this time he got it...no, wait, now its on the floor. He just sighs and drifts to sleep.
