The Plague

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

A sickness is running rampant through Redwall Abbey!

It first appeared a week ago and quickly spread through the infirmary.

The symptoms: Fatigue, aches, chills, mild fever, and in some cases a headache. This is followed by a horrible, hacking cough, high fever, and difficulty breathing.

This is the order of events related to the plague since it began; the news will be continuously updated as the disease progresses.

Jan. 1st

- A number of patients with what appear to be colds are much worse, and the healers take notice.

- Several healers become sick with the same illness and it begins to spread beyond the infirmary.

Jan. 4th

- More beasts continue to get sick with the same symptoms.

- Long Patrol hares from the 67th report that the same sickness is there as well.

- All passage between the 67th and the abbey is halted in an attempt to minimize the spread of the disease.

- The first three deaths occur.

Jan 5th

- The death count reaches seven.

- Bodies are taken out to the grasslands and burned.

- The sickness starts to be called "The Plague."

- The infirmary is quarantined.

- Supplies start running low.

Jan 6th

- The death count reaches ten.

- The upper and middle floors of the Abbey are used as an extension of the infirmary, and are under quarantine. It is highly suggested that sick beasts do not leave this area and healthy beasts do not enter, save for healers and Order members who are helping to tend the sick. The Cavern Hole and lower floor are used as temporary dormitories for healthy beasts.

- Some medicinal supplies are brought to the Abbey from the DFC.

Jan 7th

- The death count reaches twelve.

- The 67th is completely quarantined. No one is allowed in or out. The hares there seal themselves up to wait for the sickness to pass.

- Medicine is rationed. The sickest beasts are priority.
