The Hawk Is A Friend Now...Right?
RW Abbey: Rooftops
You are at the peak of the Abbey roof, and to either side the roof falls away at a steep angle. Everywhere there are spires, carvings, gargoyles, and other various crenelations. The view is simply breathtaking. You can see seemingly the entire world; all of Redwall and a great part of Mossflower and the grasslands is laid out in every direction. A flat narrow walkway with no railing traverses the peak. At one end is a very large (weathervane). The wind up here is powerful, and a danger all its own to those without wings.
To the east, behind the forest, the sun rises, liquid gold, into the sky, and turns the skies into a rainbow of colors: red, orange, fuschia, purple, and blue.

Leon steps out of the gate house with a knapsack over his shoulder, he also has his good traveling cloak on as he stops to look over a list of some sort, using a quill pen to check off a couple things and then adds something else to the list after reading over it a couple times.
Boaz watches the mouse from his perch on the maypole in the open ground, he has had enough of listening to the mouse and has a plan as he goes to fly upwards and then flies towards the entry quickly to grab the mouse by the back of his cloak and if he succeeds at this he will fly up to the roof, I mean who looks up on the roof that often if at all and most beasts are inside right now or busy elsewhere.
Leon gasps as he sees Boaz, but a little too late as he gets an unwanted ride from the bird, "Hey! Put me..." He then stops there, "I mean don't put me down...up is..is fine for now" He gulps.
Boaz drops him on the roof and uses a claws talon to keep him from falling as he looks at him with a tilted head, "Boaz has you now. So vhat now you do..Boaz says be lunch, vhat say to that?" He waits on a reply as he is being polite, well sort of polite.
Leon frowns up at the bird, least it's better than looking down as he rather not do that. "I saved your life and this is how your gonna repay me? What kind of repaying is that?" His voice is a little shaky as he hates high places and he is unsure whats going to happen now.
Boaz clacks his beak and moves a claw to the mouse's throat, “Mouseies taste good to Boaz. Fishes are ok but not as good." He cleans a wing and yawns before looking back to Leon, “Could make quick, then fly away no one know or find Boaz ever." He seems willing to kill the mouse but he is also curious, great he is having a conversion with lunch. He gets his beak close to Leon’s face, “Why did mouise save Boaz couple days ago, mousie could of just ran off and let Boaz die..why?"
Leon lies on the roof, not in his plans today and closes his eyes. He opens them and eeps slightly as the hawk’s beak is close to his face, but he answers, "I..couldn't watch a beast die or willingly walk or run away when maybe I could do something to save them. I would feel I failed as a healer if I didn’t help you. It was hard to get that arrow out and safely but I did and bandaged you and gave you a chance to stay here though I am sure some think me nuts”
Boaz puffs out his feathers as he listens to Leon talk. All the while the claw stays on his throat, "If other beasties think you nuts in head, then why do vhat did?"
Leon sighs, "Because, its..it’s just how I am. I could of failed saving your life as there was only a 50-50 chance of saving it, but at least I tried."
Boaz listens and starts tapping his claw on the mouse throat and then moves it away, "Boaz..confused, mouse never save Boaz before"
Leon sighs in relief as the talon is moved, "ummm..look maybe I can better explain on the ground, not the roof." He is still somewhat worried.
Boaz tilts his head, "Why not on roof? Boaz needs answer. Mouseie need explain" He frowns best a bird can, "Is past lunch..."
Leon gulps a little but manages to stay mostly calm, " Cause..I..I don't like the roof." He sighs and gives up, "Fine, maybe like I Said I couldn’t just leave an injured beast and I have healer skills so I helped and yes maybe it was dangerous. sometimes friends can be found in odd places. As for lunch, maybe you could try shrimp or something. I don’t know." He frowns " Just rather not be up here."
RW Abbey: Open Ground
The Open Ground is a place for feasts, good times and just general social meetings. The wide-open space allows a large group of beasts to gather upon the plush grass and chat. But it also allows access to many places of the abbey, towards the walls of the abbey is the Bell Tower. Notable abbey defenders graves alongside the plot of land the massive structure takes up. A staircase shrouded by a case of stone allows one to make their way to the busy infirmary. The large brass lined doors to the lower dormitory are also evident from this position.
Spring brings soggy grass -- though green, now -- in this open ground. The ground is saturated with melting snows and spring rains, causing muddy spots to dot the field here and there. Green growth is sprouting up everywhere, taking over the tiny bits of snow that can still be spotted hither and yon in secluded areas of the open ground. All and all a cheery scene, with the new growth and such -- but hazardous for the unwary.

Greased Pole
Boaz stands there for what seems like forever as if thinking, his talon is then encircled around the mouse, but carefully as he goes to fly upwards and then circles around to land on the open ground. First he drops Leon, gently on the ground and lands beside him folding his wings to the sides.
Leon tenses up a bit in fear, he didn't want to go even higher than the roof. As they land he blinks and looks around not yet sitting up yet as he is surprised he is back on the grass.
Boaz watches the mouse and nudges him with his beak a little wandering if he hurt the mouse maybe. He looks back and forth for any other beasts and waits to see if he moves.
Leon still lies there and then moves away as the hawk's beak touches him, "Hey..." He slowly stands and looks a little shaky, he looks at the roof and gulps quickly looking at the ground. Ok he was up there and hopes to not go up again.
Boaz looks a little disappointed when Leon gets up, he backs up a couple footpads back and tilts his head. “Mousie on ground now...Mousie happy?"
DoraRose comes out of the Abbey building, wearing a black tunic, black leggings, and soft black boots. She takes a bite out of the last remnants of her sandwich and is chewing it as she sees the hawk landing with her husband. After a couple of seconds she dashes over, her last few bites of food squished in her fist. "What's happening here?! Leon, are you alright?" She goes to lay a paw on the Master Healer's shoulder, keeping a wary eye on the hawk.
Leon feels Dorarose's paw on his shoulder and turns around to give her a hug, not saying anything right away just being glad to hug her. He then finally speaks, "I am alright dear, just a little shaky"
Boaz watches the two mice and taps one of his talons, "Boaz is still hungry. Vhat can Boaz eat in abbey if certain things off menu?" He picks at the bandage on his chest some, maybe it’s itchy.
DoraRose hugs her husband back, glaring slightly at the hawk. "You could try hot root and water shrimp soup...with Destroying Angel on the side.(OOC INFO THIS IS A TYPE OF POISOUIUS MUSHROOM)." The last sentence is muttered so only Leon can hear. Speaking in her original tone she asks, "Why were you carrying my husband through the air?"
Leon frowns some at the whispered last part but doesn't reply to it, "He brought me back down, I mean it could of been worse."
DoraRose stares at her husband. "/Down?/" Her mouth drops open, then she places herself between the hawk and the Master Healer. "The roof? A /snack/? a /snack/?! You were going to /eat/ my husband?!" She seems to just ignore the whole chat part. "You...how dare you try to eat my husband?!"
Leon frowns "I was in the entry when he..umm took me up.." He hates he was up there, he calms and then backs up just a little when she starts yelling at the bird.
Boaz puffs out as he glares at the mouse maid, "Boaz did not eat mousie...thought of eating as mouseies taste good." Oh yes this is a nice chat, "But Mousie remind Boaz...he save Boaz so Boaz should not eat mousie..Boaz is confused still usually mousies no save Boaz, usually stay away from Boaz or scream. So do other beasties..." He thinks "But not fishes..fishes say nothing or do nothing"
Leon shakes his head, he is curious where this conversion will go.
DoraRose puts a fist to her temple. "You...thought of eating my husband! Like that's any better!!" She looks like she's either going start trying to pluck the bird or go stuff the Master Healer in a closet somewhere so he'll stop getting kidnapped by birds. "And...he saved you? You saved him? But...and..." she pauses, blinking. "Well, um...I would hope fish wouldn't say anything...that would be...kind of awkward...if they did say stuff..." She is still blinking rapidly, thrown for a slight loop by the bird's statement.
Boaz says, "Mouseie save me when arrow hit me in chest, he got arrow out and bandage Boaz all up. Boaz come here to red house but not much here."
Leon stays where he is letting Boaz finish, "Yeah I helped this hawk, he was injured and its not in my nature to walk away and that was a couple days ago, or maybe 3 days ago.."
DoraRose covers her eyes with a paw. "Well....I'm glad you didn't kill him. Especially since it seems to have saved your life as well." She looks at the bird through the gaps in-between her fingers. "I...just...yeah. There's not much here. You are right." She can't think of any way to argue with the hawk about that.
Boaz nods, he tilts his head and says the next few words after a small pause, "Boaz...is sorry. Boaz will keep promise and no eat mousies or beasties in abbey..okay?"
Leon watches the hawk, he will still keep an eye on him while it’s here.
DoraRose sighs, then nods and puts her paws on her hips. "Apology accepted. And I would hope you'd keep your promise...your word should be your bond." She looks at her husband, shaking a paw to get the remains of her sandwich to fall to the ground. "You make the strangest friends sometimes..."
Boaz tilts his head, “Boaz can eat more fishes while here. Maybe Boaz try and eat wildcat who shot arrow...are wildcats good food?"
Leon blinks at the hawk, "Ummm...how should we know and going after him would be insane right now. He tried to kill another friend of mine but..well he got the wildcat to leave him alone is all I will say."
DoraRose looks to the sky as if sanity could be found there. "Mice usually don't go around eating wildcats. And it's usually not wise to go hunting beasts who have shot arrows at you."
Boaz says, "Boaz wants kitty dead, arrow hurt plenty good. "
Leon nods "I am sure you do, but it’s not wise. I am sure he is out there somewhere, that reminds me I need to tell Lee." He looks at Dorarose, "The wildcat is Bramblefur, trust me he is far from being an ally now or a friend in any way."
DoraRose frowns and taps a foot on the ground. "He helped us before, didn't he? I wonder what made him change..." She looks the bird up and down. "I bet you could take down quite a few beasts all by yourself, couldn't you?" The warrior is thinking something both promising and dangerous.
Boaz nods "Boaz is strong. Still need heal some, but Boaz still fly high in sky and soar." He shows a talon and sits it down again, "Talon and beak much strong also and sharp."
Leon says, "You should take it easy, least a few days Boaz. That arrow missed your heart by only an inch or two, you got very lucky."
DoraRose purses her lips together, thinking. "Yes, you should listen to my husband. He knows what he's talking about. Tell me, have you ever experienced any battles?" She is thinking that perhaps...perhaps...the hawk would be a good ally in the mini-war with Bramblefur...
Boaz shakes his head, " No, not many battle. Unless count one with weasel once, Wesel lost. Didn’t get chance to get wildcat."
Leon listens as he stays off to the side. “Bramblefur also has some friends, like 3-4 of them I think"
DoraRose nods slowly. "Do you think they are very skilled, or could we easily defeat them in a battle?" She curls her tail around her leg as she thinks, staring at the far Abbey wall.
Boaz shrugs he has no clue and looks around, "Boaz needs fishes." He backs off to then fly towards the pond, its past lunch even more so now.
Leon watches the hawk fly off and looks to Dorarose, "I am unsure, Bramblefur was trying to Kill Zee a few days ago...but Bramblefur also has a wound on his sword paw now, ummm...a knife got stuck in his paw." He doesn’t say how the knife was stuck in the paw, just that it was.
DoraRose grins slightly. "Oh, good. That will make him even easier to defeat. I think maybe staying in the Abbey might be wise...you said he had 3 or 4 beasts working for him?"
Leon nods, "A couple rats and a weasel I think." He then adds "Umm he also has a very bad scar on his face now, not one easily missed as it goes from his left chin and to his right eye, half an ear is gone too."
DoraRose whistles low. "How in the world did that happen? Do you know?" She seems rather impressed by this fact.
Leon seems to know more than what he lets on, " Well,...guess Bramblefur got unluckily in a fight." Yes he is keeping certain things a secret, besides who would believe him some old badger who is somehow still alive has a blade inside a walking staff...yeah probably no one.
DoraRose gives her husband a look that lets him know she knows that he's not telling her everything. But all she says is, "Probably. Fortunately for us, that makes him all the easier to describe and recognize. With his injured paw, he probably won't be too hard to defeat...especially if I use Nightsong..." Yes, she is honestly thinking about fighting Bramblefur with her axe.
Leon frowns "Dorarose, this is a wildcat we are talking about and one I have no clue where he is. I dought he is in Ferravale or anywhere near here." He frowns more "Unless he is after..."
DoraRose waves a paw airily. "Oh, I've fought wildcats before. Don't worry, I'd be careful...unless I went into the Bloodwrath..." She suddenly snaps her full, undivided attention to her husband, staring him right in the eyes. "After? Who is he after? *gasp* Was he the one who poisoned Marek and Scioto and Zinnia?"
Leon answers the first question, "He may be after Zee and I don't know on the poisoning, he may know who did it but a few have said he was the one who dropped the tea off and then left."
Thorn walks in as they are talking and stays where she is by the wall of the abbey building.
DoraRose frowns. "That is very suspicious to me. He needs to be questioned...and probably kept under lock and key until we find out the truth." She spots the rat be the wall and waves, but her thoughts are too full of extremely serious matters for her to smile.
Leon says, "It’s hard to say where he went"
Thorn walks over "Whats going on, is everything ok?"
DoraRose nods, sighing. "Maybe that golden eagle I've heard rumors about will eat him and we won't have to worry about it..." she glances at the rat and sighs again. "No. I wish it were. Some beast poisoned the Chieftain of Ferravale, and then he tried to kill a hawk."
Leon says, "I do not think he will come near here, and that’s good that he is nowhere around . Besides tomorrow is a feast day and there is a wedding" He smiles " A day to try and relax and have some fun and good food."
Thorn smiles "Yeah the feast will be fun."
DoraRose smiles, then snaps her fingers, saying, "Oh! Do you think Caleb’s going to go ahead and become a Novice?" She stands up a little straighter with thinly-veiled pride in her son.
Leon smiles "He is thinking of it, he is even going to make a dish for the feast, no idea what though. He wants to learn how to cook "
DoraRose grins. "I can't wait! I'm sure he'll make an excellent cook. Lily told me last night that Flicktail asked her to be a flower girl at the wedding. Do you think we should let her?"
Leon hmmms, "Well we can see how well she behaves and if she has chores done. But what would she wear to be flower girl?"
DoraRose pauses. "Erm....I hadn't thought of that. I'm almost done sewing her dress for the feast...I can add some embroidery around the hems. I'd have to have Nan and perhaps some beast else help me, though..." She frowns, tapping a finger on her chin.
Leon nods "I am unsure who knows how to sew well for that, then the feast is not till tomorrow around lunch I believe so there is still time"
DoraRose waves her paws about in slight agitation. "Maybe I could have Lily finish hemming it while Nana and I start working on the embroidery. But It takes as long, I'm not sure if we'll get it finished by tomorrow! And I'm not even sure what to put on!" She is obviously slightly distressed about this whole thing now.
Thorn has been quiet this whole time, not too concern with tomorrow it would seem
Leon smiles "I am sure your be fine, things will be ok”
Chud ambles up through the mud and grass, barefoot and proud of it. The young otter hums to himself a little bit and watches the sunlight wash everything in bright gold. A good day to be alive, then.
DoraRose presses her fists to her temples. "It'll take forever!" The mouse does not like sewing, it seems. The doors to the Great Hall open, and LilyMoore comes out, a bandage on her paw. Sniffing, she makes her way over to her parents, and goes to rest her head on her father's chest.
Leon hmmms, "Maybe I could try and sew some, I can sew..yes it’s not like clothing I sew but sewing is sewing right?" He looks down when he sees Lilymoore and frowns "What happen to your paw?"
/That doesn't look good,/ Chud thinks to himself. "Need any 'elp?" he calls to the mouse family.
Thorn walks over "What happen?"
DoraRose loosk at her daughter, concerned. She absently answers the otter, not really listenign for his answer, saying, "Do you know how ot sew? Lily, what hapened?" LilyMoore holds out her bandaged paw and says, "I was peelin' potatoes, and my paws got all slimy and slippery, and I cut myself with the knife. It took off most of the fur on the back of my paw and some of the skin. I was sent to the infirm and Nana bandaged it and numbed it, but I can't help in the kitchens for a few days, an' I don't have all my chores done." She's ont he verge of crying, afraid she's going ot be in trouble.
Leon frowns, he is then called away by an abbey brother and nods "I need to tend to something, talk soon"
