Talking About Father(Part LP And Ambassator Log)
Salamandastron: Forge Room *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Salamandastron *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*- You are in a fairly large room, the walls rising up around you hewn from solid rock. In the center stands a colossal object - the forge. Steam is constantly rising from the forge due to the intense fire burning within. The typical accessories are set around the perimeter of the forge: billows, tongs, and a large bucket of cool water. Lining the walls are finished and unfinished items ranging from great battle-axes to little forks. A large ventilation shaft is above, raised higher than the rest of the room to permit the rising heat to escape. Because of the flames the room is well lit, although quite warm. Over in the corner of the room is a small pile of raw ore just waiting to be molded into some implement or another. *-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* Visible Exits: [Out] to Intersection [Arm]ory
It seems the badger lord has taken to spending a fair bit of his time in the forge room. Steam rises, as it always does, from the colossal forge standing in the center of the room. An enormous battleaxes lies on the anvil, still rough in shape and form, and Ciocan towers above it, wielding a massive hammer that manages to strike with power and delicacy in the same instant.
Zinnia has not been too many places as of yet, the guest room, the library and the infirm for a short couple days and once when she had wanted to check on someone. She decided today she might venture out and get a closer look at the ocean. That is till she took the wrong turn and entered up by the forge instead. She peeks inside and frowns slightly, from the tools and whats in here she knows it's a forge and one much large than the abbey's forge. She starts to back out at first and then decides to quietly watch Ciocan at work for a short time.
The big badger works the metal near what will be the cutting edge of the axe, beating it thin, then folding it over and beating it thin again. As it cools, he uses his tongs to shove it back into the intense heat of the forge itself, wiping his brow with the back of one gloved paw.
Zinnia stays close to the doorway as to not disturb his work. She does glace around briefly, but is unsure whether to speak or not, but she is curious of the forge here, even if she has never worked at one, she has watched one other who has worked in a forge.
The axe head goes back on the anvil and Ciocan goes back to work, flattening the metal out like a leaf and folding it over, again and again, causing striations to appear in the metal's surface coloration. His brow furrows as he works, concentrating solely on shaping the weapon perfectly.
Zinnia steps a little closer, but will wait till it's a good time to say anything, even if it's a brief hello. The heat of the forge does prevent her from getting too close, so she has keep a good distance just watching and keeping silent.
Up at the forge, Ciocan thrusts the battleaxe head into the water reservoir, quenching the steel and sending up yet more steam. As he turns his head to do so, he notices yet another badger visitor, and his green eyes widen slightly. "Ach, I dinnae know ye was here, lass," He greets, waving back the cloud of steam from his face. His voice rumbles in the enclosed space, reverberating off the walls.
Zinnia nods her head in greeting, "I....took a wrong turn, sorry." Her voice is a little quiet but not so she can't be heard, "Your forge is much....larger than the one at the abbey." Then again, beasts don't use the forge there for making or repairing weapons and armor.
That's basically all this forge is used for. "It suits me, aye," Ciocan agrees, nodding from his spot up by the anvil. The walls are lined with weapons of all sorts, and not a few pieces of armor. "I reckon I'm larger'n the smith at the Abbey as well."
Zinnia nods, "The one at the abbey is a sea otter named...." And the name fails her at first, then she remembers, "Silverstorm, she took over after....." And this is where she stops talking and frowns. Looking around this forge, even if it's a good deal different than thee abbey's forge, seems to cause her some sadness and she is silent for what seems like a long while.
"Ye alright, miss?" Ciocan asks, toweling his paws off after dumping the heavy gloves from his paws onto the workbench. "Somethin' amiss?" The young badger may be new to leadership, but he does have a knack for it and reading reactions is an important piece of the charisma-game.
Zinnia doesn't answer right away, she is looking at the floor and then slowly looks back up to him and the fur under her eyes is wet, "My...father, he was Blacksmith at the abbey....he could also make weapons and armor, but he didn't at the abbey forge. Like I mentioned, he repaired the gates of the abbey and...made then stronger and helped rebuild the bell tower." A tear goes down her cheek, she has tried to not think of him too much, but she has. "I..miss him"
"Ah, lass," Ciocan begins, stepping down off the raised platform. "It's only natural that ye are missing him. I dinnae think any of us misses them not when they has passed on to the Dark Forest." Green eyes look down at the towel in his paws, considering offering her the sooty fabric but deciding against it. "He just are gone away is all. Like a long journey, and one day ye'll follow him and be together again." This is surely not new information, but repetition aids learning and all that.
Zinnia wipes some of her tears away when more come, least she is allowing tears more as before she did her best not to cry and for many weeks at that." Guess, guess...the forge reminded me of him some. I never learned any forgeing, I..watched him a couple times, he got an apprentice, Silverstorm, when he started not being able to do as much."
"It aren't for everyone," the badger lord agrees. "Why don't I take ye down to the library, then I can finish this? I dinnae think ye need to be staying here." Ciocan raises a paw to wave towards the door.
Zinnia manages a smile, a weak one and nods, "Yeah, I..do like your library. I may even take a closer look at the ocean later today and probably see you tomorrow."
"Whatever ye like, lass," Ciocan replies, ushering her out into the hallway. "Ye're guests of the Mountain. Take a hare with ye iff'n ye go outside, now. Wouldn't want Abbot Benar's emissaries running into any more trouble." With a reassuring smile, he leads her towards the library, intending to return straightaway to his work.
A couple hours later

A sea of sand surrounds the magnificent mountain now to your side. The golden sand is flat and hard, easy to walk on. You stand directly between the volcano and the sea. The refreshing sea spray tickles your face as a tropical wind from off the sea whisks it in your direction. The serene roar of the blue-green waves and perhaps the call of a distant gull are typically all that can be heard.

Exits: [W]estern [S]ide of the [M]ountain, [Sh]allows, [U]pshore, [D]ownshore
Zee has a campfire by the ocean, not much for going to the mountain again and a bit of a break from Halyard, though he has paid for a couple more nights so he most likely will go back once it's nightfall, but here is calmer...least to him.
Zinnia has not been outside since she came here, either the library or her room, and the small time in the infirm. But today she has decided to venture out, staying close to the entry, and maybe get a better look at the ocean. It may even help her write some more in her journal.
Zee is closer to the water, not so close tide would mess up his camp, but he is closer than Zinnia is and has yet to look up and see her.
Flint is out and following Zinnia, along with a couple other hare, “Fresh air is always good lass." He then blinks as he sees Zee and taps her on the arm and points towards the older badger.
Zinnia eyes widen and she seems to debate on whether to go over to him or not. She stays where she is for now, "Yeah...but, but he...he most likely doesn't want to see me"
Zee pokes the campfire with a stick and looks up seeing some others not too far off and stands slowly. He walks a little ways from the campfire.
Flint frowns, the other two hares shrug.
And it's about this time that Leon happens to come out to see whats going on, “Whats happening...is That Zee?"
Flint nods "Yep"
Leon then walks over himself to greet Zee, "Hello Zee feeling better?"
Zinnia reaches a paw out to stop Leon and then sighs; she still stays close to the entry of the Mountain for now.
Zee nods "I feel better lad.." He notices Zinnia and walks over to her and just stares at her, he heard she was worried and he is unsure if she was out looking for him or was just out. He then goes to hug her, if she doesn't back away, and just keep silent for a couple moments.
Flint watches quietly, the other two hares just stay close by and look around...yep beach is clear..wait...oh never mind that’s the wind .
Leon follows Zee back to where Zinnia is but stays off to the side.
Zinnia does not back off, in fact she allows the hug and tears go down her face as she hugs him back tightly, "Uncle...Zeee....I am so so sorry for what happen, when the last time you tried to speak at the abbey I slammed a door in your face, I am..s...sorry and wouldn't blame you if you hated me, I don’t hate you..."
Zee smiles "Its ok lass, I was notta thar when ya needed me most. The...whole northlands problems and....and I love ya lass, I was worried you were mad at me, so I was leaving you alone and the reason I left the infirm...welll..." He sighs and says it, "IU dislike de place with no blooming windows...stone walls and..." He takes a deep breath..calming again. “Bit too much, much more air OUT HERE lass" Yeah and more walk around space and you can see the sky and the sand and the ocean, inside....you see..stone and then some more stone, and even more stone!
Flint smiles as he watches the two badgers and the two hares with him look suddenly bored. Leon smiles also and looks to the entry, "Think I will head back in" Which he does.
Zinnia nods “Love you too Uncle Zee...and its...I am just glad you’re ok. When they said you were ill I was worried I..I would lose you too." She frowns some.
Zee says, "Not gonna lost me that easily lass...."He steps back and pulls out the Blade Of The Northwinds Storm and shows it to Zinnia, "Tis supposed to be yours...but I know you’re a Sister in the order." He will allow her to take it if she wants.
Zinnia takes the blade carefully and blinks, "It's..heavy.." And she does try to swing it once and frowns "More....so." She just holds it in two paws and tears go down her face, "Papa's sword...."
Flint blinks "Whoa...did he make that?"
Zee answers, "No me Uncle Soot did, Uncle Soot made it fer his brother, who then gave it to Dariean, who gave it to his son Powell...Powell was also me brother...Powell died one winter, too soon in his life and your father Zork was about 7 seasons almost, so I keep de blade till he was ready to wield it, I made sure Zork could wield a number of different blades, a staff and even...though he failed badly..try ta use a longbow, but he was an expert in blades, then he was almost 9 Seasons and took The Blade Of The Northwinds Storm as his own and had it till he stepped down as Warrior and became an Abbey Brother and shortly Elder." Zee looks at Zinnia, "You...would be the next in line, or maybe a possible son or daughter if that ever happens for you. I can keep it for now if you wish."
Zinnia carefully hands him back the blade, "You hold on to Papa sword for me Uncle Zee, I know it will be safe in your paws, and you could probably use it far better than me."
Flint just watches this, the other two hares try to leave and get a look of you best stay or ease and they sigh and stay put.
Zee takes the blade and nods. A couple practiced moves of the blade, a short sword drill and he then places The Blade Of The Northwinds Storm back into his sword case on his back and nods to Zinnia. “Perhaps when you’re ready...."
Zinnia smiles and hugs her uncle again," Ok Uncle Zee." She then steps back and asks “Staying in the area long?"
Zee shrugs "Couple days...maybe four, but no more than a week then heading home. I seen the ocean, not such a big deal if ask me. I am staying in the inn at Halyard. Then going home ta Ferravale"
Zinnia says, "Ok..but no leaving without letting me know you’re on the way, even if you have to send that eagle Thunderwing"
Flint looks over "Does Thunderwing know about Flare?"
Zee answers Zinnia first “Yes...course." He sighs to Flint, "No lad..he don't, I will tell him soon..."
Zinnia seems curious who Flare is but decides to not ask.
Flint nods " Ok..he should know" He looks to Zinnia "Ambassador did you wish to see Halyard maybe?" He waits on a reply.
Zinnia shrugs "I...don't know"
Zee says, "You will make sure she gets back to the Mountain if she goes, and she doesn’t get harmed...or" And he is serious on this as his voice says so, "Ya won't have to worry how bad Lord Ciocan's Lecture is....his may be mild compared to mine lad"
Flint frowns, the other two hares hide behind Flint.
Zinnia glares at her Uncle,"Uncle Zee your scareing the hares!"
Zee looks at Flint and the two hares, "Good lads ya understand....and lass I am sure that Lord Ciocan be much scarier than me...then never know." He then smiles "Well that said I am going back to my campfire, then heading to the village for the night...remember lads and I will find out if ya did a good job or not." He then heads over to his campfire...so fish, some tea spiked with ale...yep, a good night.
Zinnia sighs, she shakes her head and watches her Uncle go to the campfire and then goes to follow the 3 hares, hopefully her uncle didn’t make them too nervous.
