Setting Sail - The Island of Illp
Characters: Aikuen, Kentar, Robin, Syla, Garnet, William, Fira, Sebastion.
Location: Island of Illp; Docks, Town Center, Market
The island is vastly approaching. Illp is coming near. And Aik is smiling up a storm. He barks out orders as they fold sail and drift slowly toward the docks. The island is large. And flat. With a large and extending forest. Except for the port city itself. Lack of trees cover that part. As a large city covers from the docks into the forest. Everything made of stone. And paved streets. Its looks.... very well to do for a free island.
Four stoats are out on deck! Kentar, the one at the helm, steering the ship into the port...Robin, the one in the crows nest, and then Garnet and Syla! The ones at the front of the ship being silly and talking about all the things they'd love to buy. Kentar is apparently a rather good helmsbeast as he he gets ready to pull into the port.
William watches the city grow bigger and bigger as they approach. The rat is up on the ropes when the ship starts to drift into port under Kentar's guidance.
Aikuen hums as he heads back toward stern on the port side, "Alright matey... Do your thang" he watches... They reach the area where the dock is. And its obvious. That The Golden Pike is the smallest ship here. And most of them... Look piratey. Aik blinks a bit as he ignores it for now, "Alright... Just ease her in" No long boats for us.
Kentar looks around at the boats before nodding. "Aye sir." he smiles as he spins the wheel slowly, peg by peg as he stops, letting the ship turn slowly into the harbor as he straightens out the rudder, heading for an open dock. A few moments pass before he turns slowly into it.
Will climbs down the rigging and lands on the deck. He'll let the badgers handle the anchor though depending on it's set up he might be able to lower it himself. But why should he when they have perfectly good badgers to do it instead? The rat makes his way over to the old otter. "Where are we heading once we get off?" he asks. An inn would make sense unless they're going to live out off the ship the whole time. )
The ship creaks as it eases into the spot at the dock. Slowing slowing... Slowing... Then lightly bumps the dock as it comes to a halt. Aik grins as he yells out, "Moor her boys!" he nods before looking at his son, "You can go whatever. Inn. Sure. I need to see the harbor master" he nods as crew beasts fall and work around them.
The stoat guides the ship in perfectly and smiles as he spins the wheel hard starboard so that when they go to undock, the ship will turn properly. "Righto! Here we are." Kentar smiles as Robin climbs down some ropes and lands with a thud on the deck. "Yep!"
Aikuen hums as he goes to the front of the ship and orders for the plank to be lowered to the dock. He then runs off toward below deck, and soon returns, "Okay. Im going to talk to the harbor master. You guys head off the town center... Ill be with you in a minute..." he has to get things done before he can do anything.
Kentar nods. "Sounds good to us." he says as the four stoats disembark and head for town, looking around at everything. Garnet is clamped to Kentar's arm, and Syla to Robin's.
Aikuen nods at them. As he waits. Heck even the rat went ahead of him. Leaving Aik alone for a bit. But that doesn't last long as Fira soon comes from below. A paw on her bump as she kisses Aik before heading off the ship. Aik grins at her before leading her to the harbor master. And after an hour of talking. Haggling. Renting. And buying. Aik is done for his ship. Got the food and water supplies they needed. Now. for the fun stuff. He heads for town center. His paw gripped with Firas as he heads toward the fountain. They city looks like rich beasts live here. Everything is paved and well to do.
The stoats had waited around the entire time. But they didn't seem to mind. Robin is seated on the fountain's edge, Syla resting on the stoat's lap, her arms around his neck as they talk about what they're going to buy. Kentar and Garnet however, are sitting apart, each talking to someone selling something random.
Aikuen smiles as he kisses his mate before she goes off to bug the younger stoats. Aik chuckles as he heads over to the older stoats, "Hey guys. Whatcha buying?" he laughs a bit.
The beast near Kentar heads off as he just finished a sale while Garnet ignores Aik for the moment, still trying to get a bargain for something she'd love to have. Kentar holds up an odd looking, but very handsome looking jacket. Its black, its leather, and its shiny. Its got no pockets but it looks very heavy. "This!" He smiles as he slides it on, nodding. "Its nice..." he looks...wow, he actually looks pretty good in that thing.
Aikuen chuckles a bit as he tugs at the jacket, "It is nice..." he then laughs, "Though its going to be HOOOOT!" he chuckles, "But it will be nice for the winter months." he nods a bit.
The stoat smiles and nods. "Which is why I bought it! For winter!" he smiles. The seller at Garnet turns and leaves as she produces a nice necklace. "Ooh, its nice." She smiles.
Aikuen ahs and nods as he laughs, "Well. Good buy then." he grins and then turns to for Garnet, "Ooo. That is pretty... How much was that?" he asks and glance over to Fira. She needs and ankle bracelet... He grins stupidly.
Garnet smiles and looks. "It was a hundred coins." she nods. "Not very expensive.." she grins as she tugs on the wire as hard as she can. It doesn't break. "And its really nice...and strong!" she smiles. )
Aikuen hums and nods, "It is. I need to Get Fira something like it..." he nods a bit as he touches it, "Its very beautiful thing." he smiles at her before looking around a bit more, "Did he have any other things with him?"
The stoat nods. "Yep! He had anklets, rings, bracelets, necklaces." she nods with a smile before having her husband help her put it on, making her look even more beautiful. "There!" he smiles.
Aikuen hums and nods, "Interesting... Ill... Be right back." he grins a bit as he runs after the beast who sold her the necklace. He is gone for a bit before returning. With a bit of a smile on his face. But it seems he has nothing with him... Or does he.
The stoats watch him go off before they start talking, blinking when he comes back. "Sooo...what did you get?" Garnet asks with a tilt of her head, leaning in to see whatever he got. If he got anything at all.
Aikuen smiles as he makes sure he is in between Fira and the stoats. So she cant see it. He pulls out a small anklet from his pocket. Its made from tiny stones of many shapes and colors. He grins, "What do you think about this?"
The stoats ooh and ahhh at it, smiling. Garnet nods. "Well..as my...professional opinion as a wife...its beautiful! Where's mine?" she asks with a smile and a light nudge to Kentar.
Aikuen smiles and nods, "Thanks. I know it will look nice..." he grins stupidly a bit more before laughing at the stoats, "Haha. Too late! Bought the last one from him!" he smirks a bit, "Im gonna give it to her later..." he nods a bit before looking around.
The stoatmaid smiles and nods. "I see...well...anklets are otter things anyways." she grins, nudging Kentar. She wouldn't mind one eventually. They are really nice after all. Kentar just chuckles and slides an arm around her. "We'll see."
Aikuen nods a bit. They are otter things mostly. Thats why he got it, "Well... Maybe Kentar can make you one?" he winks and chuckles, "Though i dont know how good it will be against the one i just bought..." he grins, "Anywho. It will go great with her necklace." otters like stones as jewlerly. He then says, "Wasnt Seb coming with us?"
The stoat ohs and nods. "Yeah. He was." he looks around. "Oh! There he is!" he points down the path. There's NO WAY anyone can miss something that bloody big.
Sebastian treads along heavily, loud thumping heard with every step on the pavement. "Here I am. Sorry I'm late. I got stopped at the docks. Some vermin we're making fun of me, telling me I had to be in the water and pay for docking." he laughs. "Old friends." he smirks.
Its true. the badger sticks out a sore thumb, "Oh. Hey Seb!..." he then blinks as he talks about the vermin. Looking concerned at first then blinking when he said they were old friends, "Wait what?" he then thinks about it. Is it a joke? He just thinks about it for a minute, "Have fun with... Getting reacquainted?" he chuckles.
The stoat huhs and also tilts his head, looking rather confused. He just shrugs and lets Garnet lean on him as usual.
Sebastian chuckles and nods. "Yes, actually. They were just heading out." he nods. "Its been many seasons since I've seen them...rather surprised to have encountered them here..." he nods before shrugging and looking around. "Right. where do I buy stuff?" he grins.
Aikuen ohs a bit, "Oh... I thought they were just harnessing you. Not worried about that. Just wondering." he chuckles a bit. And points toward the north end, "There are over there... At least. That's where the stalls are." he chuckles, "So. What are you planing to buy eh?"
Sebastian oohs and nods before shrugging a little. "Whatever I see that I like I suppose." the badger nods with a smile as he heads for the stalls. "Anyone want to join me?"
Aikuen hums and nods, "Good idea mate..." he then looks at Fira and runs over to her, "Be back!" he then is off with the badger, "Ill come with yeah mate. My money is burning a hole in my pocket!" he laughs.
The stoats hum and shake their head as they sit down. "We'll go check it out later!" they smile as the badger and otter head off. "Right!" he says as he steps up to one stall. Its a clothing stall. "Hmm...very nice. Anything to fit a badger?" he asks.
A bit of a ferret looks back at the badger. Blinking a bit as wow. Badger, "Ummm.... Let me look...sir" as most of the clothes are for ferrets. He leans a bit as he looks around underneath the stall. Aikuen hums as he picks up some of the silk garments, "Have anything for a pregnant otter?" he asks. Why not. The ferret soon returns with a thick cloth object, "Here. I think this might fit ye. Got it on a trade..." he then looks to the otter and gives him and odd mean look, "No"
Sebastian blinks and nods slowly. He tries to figure out what it is, only to find its a nice tunic! So he tries it on before humming, looming over the ferret. "Don't be mean to my friend." he growls. Before smiling again. He puts the cloth down and hums. "Doesn't quite fit." he nods. "Thanks anyways." he doesn't quite leave though, waiting to see if the ferret does anything about the rudeness.
The ferret hums as he takes back the tunic and shrugs, "Sorry. Its the only thing i got" he then looks to the badger then at the otter. Giving a bit of a snarl, "Sorry. Otter... We don't cater to much woodlanders. So No. I have nothing for a... Pregnant otter." he hums a bit. Aik smiles a bit, "Its alright mate. Now where i can get a silk dress for an otter?" the ferret nods a bit, "Woodlander stuff is over there..." he points more to the north.
Sebastian hums a little bit and looks over, giving the ferret a nod. "Thanks anyways." he smiles before heading over to another vermin stand. He'll let Aik go up north if he wants, the badger wants to check out every stall.
Aikuen hums as he decides to hang around the badger, "Oh well. Silk dress might not be good for Fira. Not yet anyway." Oh well. Get one for her anyway. He then points at a wood stall. Then a metal stall. Man. There is alot of stalls. But he just follows the badger for right now.
Sebastian does stop at the metal stall, looking at whatever they've got, thinking to himself. "Hmm...I wonder if there's anything I want." he thinks for a few moments, humming to himself.
The metal shop is full of mostly iron things. Fine iron things. From jewelry to decorated weapons. And pretty much everything in between. Including buttons. Its run by a mean looking rat. Smoking a pipe as he eyes the customers. Aik leans down at some of the weapons. he rat the grunts, "See anything ye like? I can also do specialty work..." he nods a bit.
Sebastian nods slowly. "Yeah..." he thinks for a few moments. "Do you think you'd be make something...big?" he asks. "Say...this big?" he pulls the sword from his back and nods. "Its old...could use a replacement..." he thinks aloud.
The rat blinks a bit as he looks at the sword, "Ummm... A full replacement? For that eh? Not just a patch and repair job?" as he looks at the sword up and down, "Or just make it decorated?" he takes a long draft from his pipe.
Sebastian hums. "I wouldn't mind my name in the hilt..." he then thinks. "Well. A repair job would be good I suppose. Cheaper too I imagine." he nods. "So...yeah...repair I suppose."
The rat nods as he holds out his paw to take the sword, "Okay then. If you will just... On second thought." he points toward the other side, "Just put it behind the stall" he nods a bit. He then takes out a paper and pencil looking thing, "Okay. A patch job on a Badger Claymore. And... One decoration" he nods as he writes his signature then hands it to the badger, "It should be done tomorrow. Ill give you the complete price then. But it will be an estimate of about... 30 or so coins" for a sword that size.
Sebastian nods. "Right. The name I want on the hilt is Sebastian." he nods. "Thanks." he takes the paper and stores it in a pocket. "I'll be back then." he smiles before looking to Aik. "So. Where do you want to go?" he asks.
The rat nods as he writes on another paper. And ties it around the sword. Aik smiles as he stands. The dagger he was looking at was cool. But he has no need for it, "I still need to find a dress for Fira... I wonder if i need to get a split dress... So she can wear it now. So her belly can grow through it..." he shrugs. Its hard to shop nice for a pregnant otter, "How about? Looking for anything else?" he asks.
The badger hums a little bit with a chuckle. "Yeah." he hums and then thinks. "I'm looking for anything that catches my eye really. We can go wherever you want...and maybe I'll find something."
Aikuen nods a bit as he points toward the woodlander stalls, "Lets go where the ferret said. I want to get her a dress, along with her anklet. A nice... Blue one." he nods with a grins as he heads over there. Going toward a stall with an otter in charge. Aik smiles as he says, "Got anything for a femotter? Perhaps one that is expecting?" he then nods toward the badger, "How about something for him as well?" The otter behind the stall goes wide eyed at the badger.
Sebastian hums a little bit as the otter goes wide eyed. He can't help but to chuckle with a smile. "If you don't have anything to fit me...that will be alright." he nods with a chuckle.
The stall otter just blinks, "Nono. I have things for Badgers... Let me just... Oh aye!" he bends down and pulls out a box, "Here. Check out this box... Its... Bound to have something you would like..." he nods. The box is labeled 'Extra Huge'. He then looks toward the otter otter, "Ummm... Im not sure. Well look at these. Dresses that come into two parts and ones that are singlets." he nods and smiles.
Sebastian hums and ohs, watching the otter pull the box out, laughing loudly at the 'extra huge' label. "Thanks." he says, starting to go through it. "Hmm...I wonder."
Aikuen goes on about. Eying a few dresses. So he is a bit preoccupied with it. The stall otter nods and goes back to the badger, "Anything interest you? Sorry its not on display more. But. We dont get many badgers around here." he chuckles.
Sebastian hums a little and ohs. "Don't worry about it." he chuckles. "Its just nice to find stuff that fits." he hums and oohs, pulling out one that looks really nice. And...expensive. "How much for these?" he asks, taking the tunic and trying it on. It fits! And he looks...rather...rich! And that's the look he's going for. "What do you think?" he grins.
The stall otter ooos and nods, "Very smart looking. You would fit in right in with the don here." he nods a bit. Aik looks up, "Wow. You look a rich ole beast you do." Stall otter, "Its true... But it doesn't cost an arm and a leg" maybe just a leg, "Those.... Id give away for about... 40 gold. Buts it worth it... when you think about the time and money spent on making them!" he chuckles.
Sebastian blinks and looks at the box. "For the entire box, or just this tunic?" he asks with a tilt of his head, looking rather stunned for a few moments. He hums and chuckles a little at himself.
The stall otter smiles a bit and says. Trying not to sigh off, "Well. Just the tunic. That's real gold laced into the stitching. Thread count is over Three hundred! Never find anything like it in the western seas." he nods a bit. YES that is very expensive for a tunic. Aik actually looks up. THAT IS expensive.
Seb blinks and woahs. "That's...expensive." he chuckles but hums as he looks at the gold patterns in the black silk. "Alright..." he forks out the forty coins with a smile. "Now...how much for the rest of these things?" he asks with a tilt of his head. )
The stall otter nods as he takes the gold and places in his pouch, "Well Since you bought the tunic... Ill sell the rest for..." he looks through the box, "For the rest... 80 gold... more. Cause i like you!" he grins big. Aik hums as he narrows down the choices of dresses. Though weighing it in his paws probably wont help.
Sebastian nods. "Deal." he says, paying up the gold and taking the box with a smile. "Thanks!" he then looks around. "Know where I could get any other badger sized stuff? Weapons, rings, boots, so on so on?" he asks. "Armor maybe?" he thinks.
The stall otter nods and takes the gold as he nods at the box, "Deal. And here yah go!" he nods before looking a bit scared and nods, "For jewelry.. anywhere around here...Ummm... For armor and weapons?... Yeah... Go..." he looks around, "Go to the end of the street... And take a left down rural road... Look for the building with smoke and large stack. That's the smithy." he nods a bit before turning to Aik. Who pays for two sets of dresses (60 gold) Aik smiles. These will be great!
Sebastian nods. "Perfect. Thank you." he nods. "Aik, I'm going to head down to order a suit of armor..." he nods. "I've always wanted one...so..." he hums. "You can come with me if you want. Doesn't matter." he chuckles.
Aikuen hums as he folds the dresses in his arms, "Ummm. Sure. I love armory stuff." he grins big. Wow. Hopefully all that metal wont sink the boat, "Come on mate." he nods as he follows the badger.
