Setting Sail - Mother in the Kitchen
Characters: Aikuen, Fira
Location: Island of Illp; Town Center, Fancy Shamacy Tavern, Kitchen
Its a nice day out. A cool breeze from the north makes this tropical island such a pleasure to be at. The trees swaying. And the sound of ocean breaching in the distance. Its good to be alive. And even better to be an otter. SPECIALLY. Aik. He sits at the fountain. Situated at the center of town. the town is very high-up in standards. Everything is paved. And the buildings are kept up to snuff. Aik just admires everything... Before taking a big bite of a fish on a stick. His favorite. Wondering if his wife show up, in her new outfit that he got her. Aik REALLY cant wait for that. His rudder almost twitches in anticipation.
Fira is funnily enough already there but it takes a big break in the crowds to reveal her sat outside a tavern having lunch. She is indeed wearing new clothes, making the most of looking fancy before she's too huge to want anything but comfort, which won't be long if she ate everything on her table. She's slowly driving the waiter mad because she's found a smell she likes but so far she hasn't been able to find it on the menu and has five different dishes in front of her that she's had a bit of, she's currently ordering her sixth. She can't help it, she has to find out exactly what it is she wants.
Aikuen continues to munch on his fish. He has been waiting longer then he hoped. He wants to see her.... And maybe. /See/ her. But this is ridiculous. He hums as he stands up and decides to head back to the ship. Maybe she got sick again. He sighs a bit at that though. He feels sorry for her. Maybe some flowers will cheer her up. Maybe. A book would be better he bet. He thinks that as he passes the tavern... And... Hey. Looks that otter is wearing the same thing he bought Fira... Wait a minute... IT IS FIRA! His mouth hangs open a bit as he slowly walks forward. Losing a bit of feeling in his legs when he sees her in that dress. Oh boy.
Sadly Fira is being a sad otter and hasn't seen him yet. The dress and bracelet helped, she liked little presents but she's spent the morning feeling queasy and if she weren't starving and looking to get away from the kids she'd probably still be back at the boat. She needs cheering up.
And Aik is here to do just that! Even if it kills him. Though, how, might be a problem. He smiles as he dodges around plate bearing waiters with there fancy mustaches. Before heading over behind Fira. Going to rest his head on her shoulder. Wrapping his arms above her bump. So she know who it is. But he is expecting to be punched in the face for this. Worth it he thinks.
Fira is taken by surprise and jumps a little, quickly looking around and thank the seasons it's Aik. She sighs in relief and rests her head back against him "You scared me, sneaking up like that"
Aikuen smiles as he nuzzles her head before kissing the top of it, "I didn't mean too. Just... Trying to distract you a bit." I think it worked. He can fell that she is not the happiest she can be. So he nuzzles her once more. Then just resting back, "How are you, my mate?"
Fira tries to just relax against him, she's still got to be able to see him to lip read though so can't quite just flop down. She sticks out her tongue "You remember all those things I didn't like about being pregnant?"
Aikuen nods. Oh no. This is dangerous territory to be walking around in. He nods against her and says, "Oh aye..." he rubs her little bump, "Tell you what. You send a few of them my way... As long as i get to see you smile... Ill take them all... WAIT! I know..." he holds out the fish on a stick for Fira, "Would this bring a smile to your face?"
Fira nods slowly "Well they brought friends so plenty to share" her eyes widen on the fish but it's not a look of joy, it's more like she's scared it'll attack her before she quickly covers her nose with her paws "No! Away with it!"
Aikuen gasps. What? Fira not like fish. Damn kid. What have you done with his wife! He quickly tosses the stick away as if it was on fire. Going to blink, as he thinks about it, "So. not feeling fish this time..." he hums, "And not with all these eh?" he motions to the table of food bits, "Then what Fi?" he asks.
Fira eyes where the fish lands for a moment (And nearly makes a sea otter slip on it), eventually deciding it's a safe distance and removing her paws again slowly "I don't know, I think salmon might still be alright" she pokes one of the dishes with salmon in it "But not with whatever that stuff covering it is...I'm still working it out. The new one doesn't seem to like the same things as the twins at all"
Aikuen eyes a bit at the sea otter, "Umm... Sorry mate..." he chuckles a bit. Fira. Wife. Kid. Important. Right, "Well. How about we order everything on the menu. And see yah you like eh?" he grins as he plops in another chair. Still in belly rubbing distance, "I have an idea. What did you have when you had the twins. That you couldn't even get near?" he has an idea.
The waiter turns up at that moment with a plate of shellfish, crab, various dips and a pompous attitude "Believe me sir, she is trying" he bows as he places the plate on the table "I am certain I'll hear from you again soon" Fira looks up to the sky for a moment, she feels bad but she's not going to allow herself to apologise. She tries to ignore the waiter and answer Aik while she picks through the latest dish "For a while, cheese, carrots but just for one week. Turnips...but I wasn't so fond of turnips anyway oh and rhubarb, smells horrible. Something here smells good, I just haven't found it yet and they won't let me sniff around the kitchen"
Aikuen just laughs at the waiter and nudges him, "Well good then. Keep the grub a cookin eh?" Which gives him a grump look from the waiter. Aik just laughs up a storm. He just finds it funny. He then nods at her answer as he looks through the dishes to find the most cheesiest, carroty and Rhubarbish thing that he can see, "I think i can make that happen..." he stops looking at the dishes and holds out his paw, "Come on. Lets crash the kitchen!" he grins. He said anything.
Fira raises her eyebrows. Well she'd never have done it on her own and it's unlikely to get them kicked off the island, maybe out of the tavern certainly..."Yeah alright then, the service is crumby anyway" she's smiling! She takes his paw to help herself up. The waiter is looking again but only incase he has to trap them with the bill incase they try to leave.
Aikuen grins big as that favorite smile of his returns on her beautiful face, "Thataway Fi. Comeon. And lets see what your nose, knows!" he grins as he leaves a bit of coin on the table. Not a lot. Just a bit as incentive. Then they are off. He winks at the Waiter as they pass by him, "Just. Looking for the bathroom im afraid" he then makes a right turn. Right into the door of the kitchen. Its full of white apron beasts. And the smell just assaults them all. Aik peeks out hte little window on the door. "He hasn't noticed yet..." he grins.
One of the chefs has though "Oi! You two can't be back here" Fira pushes on into the room, faking ignorance "No, no, I'm sure the waiter said it was back here somewhere, don't mind us" she's following her nose around as not even trying to lip read the angry staff. )
Aikuen chuckles. Thats his cue! Distraco-man. He walks over to the first chef and places a heavy paw on his shoulder, "Listen mate. She is new. So let her figures out what she did wrong... Plus. She is carrying a child... You wouldn't want to tell anyone that she is in the wrong place. How will she get the money for her kid now!... You Basterd!" He shakes his head, "How do you live with yourself."
This just seems to confuse and infuriate the chef even more but it does work in the sense that he's directing it at Aik rather than Fira "What on earth are you on about? Who are you?! I never got a notice about new staff!" the majority of the kitchen is thankfully leaving him to it though a few do try to bar Fira's way. A few polite words, a smile and she squeezes past anyway. She stops by a pot of soup, sniffing it further until she nicks a spoon off one of the more confused beasts to give it a taste.
Aikuen keeps his hold on the chef. Figuring this is the one he has to keep 'Here' in order to get away with this little flem flam. He grins as he leans heavier on his paw, "Oh im sorry mate. My Name is Plum. Plum Salad. And i am her caretaker. Its part of the. Helping mothers. Campaign that the owner started. Giving work to mothers. And mothers to be... Just let her be for now. She is a bit... Confused. Im surprised you didnt get the memo. Well. If you have any questions. All be more than able to help." And if Fira looks his way. He gives her a happy wink.
Fira isn't paying attention, she's found something nice and she's insisting on a lot of taste testing to be sure. The chef doesn't believe a word of it "What? Helping mothers?! I want her out of the kitchen! Pelf! Go and find the owner, get him back here now!...She's eating the soup! Get her out!"
Aikuen looks quickly to Fira. Hurry up love. This might not last long. He smiles as he tightly holds down the chef, "Oh now now mate. Come on... Be a dear... Hey look over there!" he reachers over and grabs a ladle and bonks him on the head. To knock him out. Then going to hide him. He then he is quickly over to Pelf. Just about as he out the door, "Hello Mr. Pelf. Lovely day we are having!" he grins with the ladle.
Like that was ever going to work. The chef yelps when he's hit and lands with a thump, dazed on the floor. One of the dishwashers squeaks and hides under a table while another bold cook, namely the one who handles all the knifes starts yelling and advancing on Aik "Hey! You stay right there! Pelf keep going, get a guard in here now!" Fira has sensed that something has changed in the room and given the angry cook headed for Aik it can't be good. She abandons the soup, deciding it's time to go "Wasn't that hungry after all!" run please.
Aikuen smiles at Pelf then at the knife chef, Still blocking the door "Oh... Hello there! Nice days isn't it!" he smiles at Fira and says, "I think we have over stayed our welcome. Come darling!" he winks and waits for her to get near before tossing the ladle at a nice big cauldron nearby. Must cause as much havoc as possible. As the ladle collides it spills hot soup everywhere. But by the time the others had time to look. Aik had taken Fira by the paw, kicked the door. And is gone and out of the kitchen in a flash.
So now there's just the waiter outside to deal with. Thankfully he's belittling another table when they burst out of the kitchen and run for the door so he has no time to stop them skipping out on the bill, specially when a few seconds later there's angry kitchen staff running after them. Fira heads for the nearest alley, she's not going back to the ship until they've lost that lot.
Aikuen grins and hides from laughing out loud as he follows Fira into the alley. Placing a few trash boxes in the way of the main light. He looks over the box slowly. And ducks back down when they run right past. Even one going to look in at the alley. Not seeing them. He slams his knife at the wall before heading off with the other part of the mob. Aik smiles at Fira, as it gets quiet again, "So... Have fun?" he mouths and grins with his tongue out.
Fira follows him and hides down low as she tries to breathe very quietly while still trying to catch her breath "What did you do to get them so angry?" she whispers, unsure if the mob's moved on yet or not.
Aikuen smiles as he pulls her in, "They are gone... But we best keep quiet all the same." he chuckles a bit as he looks around, "Oh. I just wanted to make sure you got enough time to find the food that you wanted. One thing lead to another... And i had to improvise a bit of... A distraction." he chuckles a bit as he kisses her, "And... It worked!" he looks around once more, "I think they are gone..." he looks down at her dress, "And, might i say... You Still look fabulous!" he smirks as he lays down, and kisses her once more. The mob is called off after an hour or so. But The otters still hide in the alley. Just to make sure.
It's just as well he said that rather than admitting to hitting the cook. She takes the compliments and the kisses and funnily enough seems happier. Despite being hidden in an alley she finally relaxes with him "It was nice soup"
