Saja Arrives

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Darkwatcher strides through after a short scouting run to the north; the leader shoves his way through an idle mob of hordebeasts, occasionally moving them aside with a well-placed (and painful) elbow jab.

Saja arrives amongst the horde, the fox scowling as he spies the various bits of rabble that their employer dares call an army. The entire situation reminds him far too much of the time he threw in with a bunch of pirates and nearly got himself killed. Finally being called to assist doesn't have him happy, but at least the fox hasn't up and deserted. There's gold and killing to be done after all. Rather than shove past, he simply slips through the crowd like any well-adjusted city vermin has a talent for. Anyone likely, in his mind, to shank him are deftly avoided until he's beside his own employer. "What do you think our odds are?" Comes the fox's question. No greetings, no pleasantries. The vulpine wants this job /done/.
"Fairly even," Darkwatcher murmurs, reluctant to reveal any information, even if it's somewhat hopeful in nature, in the presence of the whole horde. "Our employer is.../mediocre,/ but I think we'll win this battle easily. As I said, numbers are even, but in skill, we have the upper hand." He looks around at the horde in disgust. "No thanks to theses fools."
Saja gives a simple nod, accepting the information at face value. If he wants something more detailed, he'll ask in a more private setting. Various hordebeasts get discrete looks of disgust before the fox simply sighs. "I suppose it could be worse. Orders?" he continues, edging away from the mass of the horde, as much as that's possible. Trying to get closer to a spot less full of ears.
Darkwatcher follows Saja. "Prepare your equipment and weapons, and find a good sniper position where you can keep the enemies' heads down. Don't fire yet; the other Nightblades are absent and we don't want to make our move before we have the greatest chance of victory." He pauses, then adds, "There are capable archers among this horde. Select a score of the best ones you find, and train them as best you can. When this day is out, I want you to have a score of the deadliest archers in Mossflower, and beyond."

--Shortly after this Saja had to leave, so that pretty much brought a swift end to this. ICly, most likely Darkwatcher and Saja ended their conversation soon afterward, and went about their own business.--
