Reviving Moledeep: Fixing Up the Infirmary
Characters: Kentar, Garnet(spoof), Aikuen, Will, Fira
Location: Moledeep
Mole Hall
Kentar is sitting in the hall with Garnet, both looking extremely happy for some reason as they talk quietly among themselves, a smile on both of their faces
Aikuen comes in from the outside. He has been working on the rose garden, and other things. He carries with him back to the hall, sheets of used parchment and some charcoal sticks. He espies both stoats, with their smiles, and he tilts his head at them and asks, "Well, Well, Well..." He sits at the table across from them, "I know its the summer season now... But what is with the big ole' smiles!"
Will comes in from the infirmary where he'd been helping Fira sort through the now open cabinets.
Kentar looks over and grins. "Well..." he looks around and then to Garnet, giving a big smile. "You want to tell him or should I?" he smirks. Garnet just pokes Kentar's chest. "Well. Garnet invited me on a walk in the woods for a while. And while we were on our walk, we came across a nice clearing. So...I..." he laughs. "Just show him!" Garnet shows the ring on her finger. Kentar seems to have found the perfect time today. He then looks over to Will and waves. "Hey Will."
Aikuen laughs and smiles, "Congratulations mate!" He gives a wink to Kentar, "This is great mate! so... When is the big day?"
Will waves a little at the others and heads off into the storage room for a while.
Kentar smiles and shrugs some. "We're not sure. We just know that it will happen." he chuckles.
Aikuen nods a little bit, "That's perfectly fine matey! You will decide sooner or later!" He smiles and chuckles, "This is going to be great... Just great! MY son is getting married! HAHAH" He laughs at his dumb connection with the stoat.
Kentar gets an odd look from Garnet, the stoat chuckling. "I'll explain later..." he then looks to Aikuen. "Yeah, pa! Hey, I might even get married before my pa..." he laughs, and grins.
Aikuen frowns, "First of all... call me Pa one more time, and ill will cuff your ear so hard, it will fall off! You are way to old to me calling me that" He chuckles, and holds one of the papers, "And I already completed a big part of my wedding! So!" He stick out his tongue, and laughs.
Kentar smirks. "Sorry Pa!" he grins before chuckling. "Oh? What did you complete? Eating the cake?" he laughs.
Aikuen tosses a crumpled paper at him, "No! This is the most important of the wedding... at least for the Husband to do anyway..." He shows the paper, where there is unrecognizable writing on it, "These... Are my Vows..."
Kentar takes them and looks them over, looking to Garnet who peeks as well. Both stoats wait a few moments before they both burst out laughing. "Hahahaha. You can actually read these!?" they keep laughing.
Aikuen takes it back and folds it grumpily, "Well if you could read it, then you can read Ashurahian... and i would be totally surprised if you could..." He frowns at their laughing, "I work really hard on those... I think there good..." he taps the paper.
Kentar laughs. "I wish I knew what they said, so right now, I can not agree with you Pa, sorry." he laughs again before smiling.
Aikuen takes the paper and places it in his pocket, "And you will be disagreeing for a bit, because you wont find out till the wedding day... But..." He smiles, "I think there good!" He smiles, but then frowns again at the Pa, "Why you... Hmph..."
Kentar chuckles. "I only do it to annoy you Pa." He grins. "I mean Aikuen." he smiles. Garnet stands slowly. "I'm going to the Gardens. See you later..." Kentar stands and kisses her cheek. "See you." They both smile as she vanishes, Kentar now sitting again.
Aikuen nods to Garnet as she leaves, and waits till she is out of earshot before saying, "Bout time matey!" He laughs.
Kentar laughs. "About time what?" he asks. "If she didn't invite me on the walk, I'd have not found the perfect time yet." he chuckles.
Aikuen shrugs and chuckles, "Sometimes the world falls into place just perfectly!" He sighs and leans back in his chair, "So... Are you excited? Nervous? Or just don't know, Or just don't care!"
Kentar laughs. "I just don't care. I'm getting married!" he smiles. "To her...I love her so much...I really couldn't care less right now...Excited, nervous...whatever you want to say I am, I am."
Aikuen laughs, "You seem Excited! That's always a good sign!... When do want to get together, and tie the knot? It is a choice between you two, but you need to get started at least... A season of choice would be nice, to look forward too!" He taps his claws in front of him.
Kentar nods slowly and hrms. "Well. She likes winter a lot...maybe get married at the first snowfall."
Aikuen nods, "Very nice mate... Sounds... Very romantic..." He shrugs, "That's almost two seasons away... Plenty of time to plan a wedding!"
Kentar nods. "Yeah. It is quite romantic." he grins. "So. When are you and Fira getting married?" he asks. "I know you said the summer but...when?"
Aikuen sighs and shrugs, "We're still undecided, but hopefully by the end of the week, if I can help it... I want a nice small wedding, in the rose garden..." he scratches his head, and looks around, for inspiration, "But its up too her... I'm like you... I don't really care!"
Kentar nods slowly. "Are Garnet and I invited?" He grins before tilting his head. "At the abbey?" he asks.
Aikuen tilts his head, and laughs, "No your not! I don't like you!..." He waves a paw at him, "Course you are matey! Wouldn't be the same without you!" He sighs, and says, "Well I don't know if we are going to abbey or not... I would be just as happy to have it here, but... I don't know..." he places his head on the table.
Kentar nods slowly and then smiles. "Thanks..." he then tilts his head. "Is something wrong...you seem...nervous"
Aikuen turns his head so he can see Kentar on the table, "Well... Fira and me, *Sigh* never really discussed the wedding much... And if we go to the abbey... no one will come... I know they won't... I'm hated there... and she has only been there a few times, and doesn't know many beasts..." He looks back down at the table, "I just want to have it here... I've been working in the rose garden to make it nice... I want it to be there... and I want just family..."
Kentar nods slowly and then tilts his head. "Why are you hated at the abbey, Aikuen?" he asks.
Aikuen says, "Not really hated... just not liked... at all" He turns to look at him, "When I first came there... I was a drunken idiot, who would punch you for looking at me funny... And I never lost that persona... I fought, brought weapons into the abbey, got angry at everything, of every second, of everyday..." He looks back down, "I'm better now... but that stuck with me around there..." and places his arm over his head.
Kentar nods slowly and sighs. "Then show them your not what you were." he says. "I mean, its the abbey. They'd forgive you." he nods slowly. "But I think its still a good idea for the wedding to be here."
Aikuen says, "I have showed them... And they have gotten a little better around me... But I can still tell... that they don't like me..." He looks up and rubs his eyes, "I'll ask her... She will decide..."
Kentar nods slowly. "Aikuen." he leans over to place his paw on the otter's shoulder. "Don't worry. I'm sure that she'll agree to have the wedding here." he smiles.
Aikuen smiles and pats Kentar's paw, "I know she will, but I don't want her to have to have it here... because of me... I want this wedding for her... or else I would have told her my vows as soon as I wrote them..."
Kentar laughs and nods slowly. "I know what you mean." he smiles. "I sort of feel the same about Garnet but I do still want some say in the whole thing. Its nice to let her have what she want's but its always nice to let her know what you want too."
Aikuen nods, "I guess thats true... I'll tell her what I want... And, you never know... She might like that idea" He smiles some, and nods, looking better then before, "I love her... and what a day should be about... should be about us!" He gets up, "Thanks mate..."
Kentar smiles and nods. "Your welcome." he smiles. "And if I don't attend the wedding, I'll just say I got lost in the woods." he smirks and grins.
Aikuen shakes his head, and heads for the entrance, "I'm gonna work on my words again... I'll be back later... Dont tell her anything..." He smiles and heads out.
Will walks in from the sleeping hall, he'd gone back to the infirmary unseen while the stoats and otter were talking. He bruises from earlier have darkened some making them even more obvious. The rat has nearly forgotten his fight with Kip as he calls over to the otter, "Pa, Fira wanted me t ask ya t come into th infirmary an help clean it an stuff."
Aikuen had returned to the hall, because it was getting too hot. He was still working on his Vows, and he looks to Will, "Oh?... Okay... Yah sure... I'm... I'm done, for now" He stands up, and places the folded paper in his pocket. He makes for the rattling, and can see the bruising for the first time, "Whoa Matey! What the heck happened to you?" he chuckles.
Will blinks, "... Kip came by and ..." he shrugs, "... we kinda got in a fight but it's fine and we're friends again." The rat waits for the otter's response.
Aikuen rubs the side of his head, "Er, why did you get in a fight? I'm glad your friends again... but, What happened?" He snaps his claws in realization, "Did you tell Kentar what happened, when it happened? because it seemed like a long time ago... by your blood collection in these bruises..." He looks over his shoulder at the table, where Kentar went somewhere with garnet, and wonder why he didn't tell him before.
Will says, "Yeah. I told him. Maybe he left before you came in. You gonna help clean out th infirm still?"
Aikuen shrugs, "I was talking to him... not too long ago..." He sighs and smiles, "aye, uh, clean the infirm?... yeah... lets go!" Will doesn't look to bad, and if he didn't want to tell him what happened, Aik is okay with it. He nods a little bit and walks a bit forward and stops, "Its this way right?" He points to the sleeping hall.
Will nods, "Yeah through there an straight ahead."
Aikuen blinks a few times, nods then continues his way to the sleeping hall.
Moledeep: Infirmary
The warm chamber is lined with a few freshly made beds. The cupboard is missing its doors and a new set sits on the table beside the old water pitcher and cups. Everything seems to be in order except for the remains of the medinces cramed into the cabinet and have spilled out onto the floor since the old doors were removed. The rusty broken lock lies among the pile of potions and other things that fell out.
Aikuen is first blind sighted by the mess of the cabinet, but he cant help but chuckle, "Ack! The Potions! There Everywhere!" He laughs and immediately goes to Fira who was sitting on a bed, and plops down next to her. He gives her a kiss before turning back to Will, "Eh, what happened... I know we had to break the lock...not the cabinets... But I guess that works too..." He laughs, "Is that all that needs to be done? Put the new doors on?" he asks.
Will says, "And figure out if any of that stuff is worth keeping or not. Fira's already sorted some of it but she wanted you t help. Sides she cleaned up everything else in here already."
Aikuen smiles and nudges her, "And she did a wonderful job!" He laughs, as he gets his favorite smirk. He stands up and goes to the potions and points to the ones on the floor, "What are the ones on the floor. Don't know what they are? or get rid of?" He gently shoves them out of the way, "Well, First lets get the new doors on, then we can worry about that later?" He picks up on the doors and lines it up with the hinges, but the top one is a little high for his normal reach so he says, "Hey Will, can you get me a hammer?" as the otter picks up one of the pins.
Will has to look around a little and soon finds the tools he'd brought in earlier. Finding a hammer among them he hands it to Aikuen
Aikuen laughs, as he picks up Will instead of the hammer and sets him on his head holding him steady, with one paw. He passes the pin up to him and says, "You can reach the top hinge. Just place the pin on the top, and hammer down!" He aligns the door again, with the top hinge, and says "Okay, go!"
The rat nods a little unsure about this but does as directed. He holds the pin in place and taps it a little to get it to stay in place. Once it's partly in he moves his paw out of the way and brings the hammer down on it, closing his eye in case the hammer should hit wrong and send the pin flying.
Aikuen laughs as the pin is shoved into the hinge with a Wham! He lets go of the door, which creaks but doesn't fall down. He then picks up the other door, and aligns it on the other side, then carefully passing up another Pin he says, "One more time mate!
Will nods taking the pin and feeling a little better since the first one did what it was supposed to. He puts it in place and taps it a little, same as the first one, and then hammers it in.
Aikuen smiles as the next one goes in without a hitch(and another Wham!). He Carefully places Will back on the ground, and rubs his son's head a bit, "That was easy, eh? I'll do the middle ones, then you can do the bottom two" He looks for two more pins, then he holds out his paw for the hammer.
The rat nods and hands the hammer over. "Then we'll go through the medicine?" he asks.
Aikuen nods, takes the hammer, and aligns the first door again for the middle one, "Aye... soon as the doors goes on, ill have a looksie... Don't know much about potions... but I can tell if it went bad or not..." He laughs as he places the pin in, and just gives it one whack with the hammer to set it in place. He then moves over to the second door. And as he realigns it, he says, "So, what the potions on the floor?"
Seeing that Aikuen and Will have taken over the work in the infirmary Fira lays down on her cot and is taking a well deserved nap, undisturbed of course by the hammering.
Will looks over the potions on the floor, "I don't know. I think that just what fell out when Kip an me pulled th doors off. Well, Kip did most of th pulling but I helped carry em out an stuff. Ready for th last pins?"
Whack! As the next pin goes into the middle hinge. Aikuen nods and hands the hammer to Will, "You can do the last two mate, I'll start on the potions on the floor." He sits down and picks up the nearest one near him, and examines it. Seeing no label, or distinguishing marks, he opens it and takes a whiff. He coughs a little bit and says, "Cough medicine..." He coughs again and places it on an open space on the floor, for good potions, and starts on another.
Will nods and takes the pins. It takes him a second or two to get the first one in place since it's very far down near the floor but he gets it in position and after a few light taps, hammers it in, before repeating the same action with the last pin on the other side.
Aikuen picks up an odd looking flask, and opens it. He immediately hold it away from him and covers his nose, "That went bad... Quite a while ago... WHEH!" He re corks it and adds it to the other bad ones. There are now three sizable piles; one for known good potions, one for unknown good potions, and one for bad potions in general. The otter picks up and strange green looking one, and opens it, and takes a whiff. He blinks a few times, as he re corks it, and says, "That one... Confuses me..." He blinks a few more times as the world begins to spin on him, and falls backwards, and says slowly, "...Ow..."
Will sets the hammer down and bends over to lightly poke Aikuen, "You ok? Should we get rid of that one or what?"
Aikuen looks to the blob like form of Will, and squirms at the poke "I'd get rid of it... Don't know if its bad or not... But, i don't know if i want to know what it heals, if just smelling it makes the world all smudgy!" He laughs.
The rat nods and carefully moves the flask to the 'get rid of' pile. "You gonna be ok?" he asks again.
Aikuen sits back up and rubs his eyes, "Yah I'll be okay... I think... Should be just a side effect of... whatever it was..." He scrambles up and looks around, "Okay! maybe standing wasn't my greatest of ideas right now..." He laughs at that, and carefully sits on a nearby bed.
Will doesn't look convinced, though to the otter he probably doesn't look much like a rat either, "You're /sure/ you'll be ok, Pa? Need me t wake Fira up or somethin'?"
Aikuen shakes his head and he leans back on the bed, "I'm fine... just the world looks... Really crazy!" He laughs as he reaches for Fira on the other bed, "Don't wake her... She looks peaceful... She is just great, and I love her... and she is wonderful" He laughs again, and closes his eyes and mumbles, "I'll be fine, I know what happened... it was motherwort... I'll be fine in the morning... trust me!" He laughs a little more crazily.
Will moves the flask to its own pile just in case it the otter changes his mind about throwing it out. "You gonna sleep in here then?" he asks.
Aikuen has fallen quite asleep already, so that would be a good enough answer for the rat. The otter now a goofy smile on his face, and his paw is still reaching out for Fira, as light snore begins to erupt from him
The rat nods at the snoring otter and with some chalk circles the pile and labels them: 'Keep', 'Keep', 'Throw Out' and 'DO NOT TOUCH!' Once this is done he quickly leaves the room for his own little room where otters, crazy or otherwise, can't enter.
