Reviving Moledeep: Fixing Up the Dibbuns' Gardens and the Infirmary
Characters: Will, Racky, Kip(spoof), Kentar
Location: Moledeep, Moss River
Moledeep: Dibbuns' Garden
It had taken some time but Will and Racky had cleared out the overgrowth from the dibbuns' garden. Will had redug the caved in tunnels they'd found making an underground hiding place. An dead tree laying on it's side with its middle rotted out was cleaned out and soon had messages carved in it inside and out. A few of the trees circling the newly cleared grass bore groves and cuts in them from knifes and a sword's blade. The many deep cuts in the ground also from knifes as if some dibbuns had raided the kitchen for weapons.
Racky had become tired and after some splashing around in the river to get clean he had gone back inside. Will with some help from a former friend, who had dropped by in an effort to make amends, pried open the cabinets in the infirmary and went to the Abbey to get new doors make for them.
The otter and rat returned and left the doors in the infirmary with a note for Aikuen and the others before going to talk in the dibbuns' garden.
Will sits near one of the tunnels glaring up at Kip, his tail thrashing about in his anger.
The otter stares down at the rat angrily with staff in paw ready to strike again should the rat attack him again.
Will had lost his eye patch during the fight and edges away from the otter and toward the woods and the river beyond them.
Kip sees the movement and lets the rat go, he can still beat the younger beast in the water and see no reason to stop him.
Will, noticing the otter isn't trying to come after him, stands up and backs his way to the trees. Once out of sight he turns around and walks the rest of the way to the river to tend to his bad eye.
Moss River
The young otter walks back through the woods another way to come out at the river down stream of William. He watches the rat closely before walking over to him.
Will hears the otter coming and tensions. He turns around with his sword drawn.
Kip sighs and drops his staff on the bank holding his paws up to show he's unarmed.
The rat nods and sheathes his sword. He continues to glare at the otter as he sits down on the bank.
Kip sits down a short ways from his dropped staff. "Are you ready to listen now?" he growls at the rat.
Will says, "I was there. I know what happened. You ran off an left me to that fox!"
Kip groans, "Will you shut up and listen to me?!"
Will asks, "Why should I?"
Kip says quieter, "We used to be friends, OtterRat. I know I can be a jerk some times and I ran off, but I thought you were with me and we'd both ran!"
"You thought wrong then," Will says, "I didn't run ... maybe I should have, but I didn't. Why didn't you try an help me?!"
The otter blinks, "I didn't know you hadn't followed me til I'd got back to the Camp. I told my folks an everyone I saw about what'd happened. They weren't sure if they should sent anyone since you're well you know what you are! Some of them did go looking but they came back later and said they hadn't found you or the fox, then you came by and beat me up for no reason."
Will cocks his head at the otter, "Some of them actually went looking for me? You must have really bugged them a lot for them to do that. .... Yeah, I know what I am ... I'm William Redfang son of Aikuen Taran and I'm a stupid rat but if you knew my Pa an big brother you wouldn't be surprised t hear that. .... I'm ... I'm sorry."
Kip nods, "You should be, OtterRat!" He smiles a little, "I'm sorry too, I shouldn't have run off ..."
Will cuts him off, "No, I was stupid and should have had th sense t follow you."
Kip smiles, "Yeah, ya should have but you're a stupid rat or so you said. .... You don't want to maybe go swimming would ya?"
Will says, "Not like this. Need t find my eye patch first. Come on, you're gonna help me look for it." The rat heads back to Moledeep.
Kip follows behind Will. "Sorry about that, Will. ... Like old times. You leading off t who knows where an me following without a second thought," the otter shakes his head with a smile.
The rat nods some, "It's alroight." He looks over the ground closely, "Yeah, I guess. ... Hope it didn't get torn up too much. Pa would not like that."
Kip nods, "Yeah, we'd best find it ... I don't want your dad mad at me."
Will nods, "I don't want him mad at me either." He catches sight of his reflection as they leave the river. "... think he'll notice?" he asks Kip warily.
The otter nods, "Probably ... Mine will too. What ya gonna tell him?"
The rat chews on his lip a bit, "I guess th truth ... if he asks."
Moledeep: Dibbuns' Garden
Kip nods as they enter the dibbuns' gardens again. He spies something grey laying across a smashed bed of flowers, "Hey! This it?" he holds up the sharkskin patch with it's snapped strap.
Will runs over nodding, "Yeah that's it. Thanks," he looks it over and heads to the river to clean it off and put it back on.
Kip sits down to wait for the rat to return but the cut of his face causes him to wander back home to get patched up. He writes a message into the dirt with a claw for the rat to find later.
Will returns cleaner and with his patch back in place. He reads the note in the dirt the otter had left him before rubbing it out with his foot and going inside to rest a while.
Moledeep: Mole Hall
Kentar is sitting in the hall, quietly polishing something small and making it nice and shiny. The stoat stares at it with a bit of a smile every now and then as he shines it more.
Will comes in from outside, damp and battered. There's a new cut on his nose which is already healing over and he looks worn out. The rat plops down in a chair to rest. He doesn't seem to notice the stoat.
The rat sits up straighter, surprised by Kentar's outburst. "Uh ... Racky an I cleaned out th dibbuns' garden an then Racky came back in here and I didn't and later Kip came by t see me and we took th old doors off th cabinets in th infirmary and went t th Abbey to get new doors made and brought them back here an left em in the infirm. And then we went back out t th dibbuns' garden t talk and ... we kinda got in a fight but we're friends again now so it's ok."
Kentar frowns. "What is it with you and fighting?" he asks, rolling his eye. He slowly goes over to the rat, not limping anymore. "You alright?" he asks.
Will folds his ears back not liking the stoat's tone. "I don't know ... I was mad at him for running off but I'm not mad at him anymore so we won't fight now. When Zen an I were mad at each other we fought, why should it be different with me an Kip?" He gingerly touches the end of his nose where it had gotten cut, "I'm fine. Kip got th worst of it, same as last time. But it doesn't matter cause we're friends again now and I forgave him for running off when we ran into that fox."
Kentar sighs. "Just cause your mad doesn't mean you have to attack everyone." he mutters. "Doesn't look bad enough for bandages, but I'm no healer, so you'll need Aikuen to take a look at it." he says before slowly returning to his seat and polishing the golden object. He doesn't seem very happy anymore.
Will huffs, "I'm fine. And I was mad at Kip cause I'd thought he'd run off an left me t that vermin fox but I was wrong." The rat walks off into the storage chamber, he's done trying to talk to the stoat.
Kentar frowns. "Will...Stop." he stands slowly. "I thought you, Aikuen, and Fira left me to the fox." he says. "But did I just go off and attack you? No." he sighs. "Whatever." he sits back down, tired of all the talk of fighting and the like
The rat stops, "You don't know Kip or what it's like at Camp Willow. They act nice t me now cause Aikuen's my father now. Before he didn't try too hard t pretend they liked having me around there. When I got away from th fox I went t see Kip and find out why he'd run off. He wouldn't tell me why just said stupid stuff about me being vermin an deserving t what happened ... I beat him up for saying that ... he didn't try t too hard t stop me though ... he was probably saying what they want him t say ... some th otters there don't like me ... seems like most of em .... Kip was th only reason I went over there so much, only reason other than sword training .... I thought I had a good reason t fight him ... I didn't break any of th rules ... I don't think. I was wrong, I know that now but I didn't before ...." He shakes his head and goes back outside.
Kentar looks over and shakes his head. "Stupid Rat." he says loudly enough so that Will can hear him just before he leaves.
Will sits down just outside the tunnel entrance and looks over the rules then comes back in and sits back down at the table.
Kentar looks back at Will but turns back to the object he's polishing, not bothering to speak.
The rat had noticed he'd broken two of the rules but doubts anyone, least of all Aikuen, will punish him for it. He wonder if they should even keep the rules at all. "What are you doing?" he asks the stoat.
Kentar huhs and ohs, holding up a gold ring with a nice diamond in the middle. Its extremely shiny now. "Polishing a ring." He smiles.
Will nods, "It's nice. For Garnet?"
Kentar smiles and nods. "Yeah. Is it really that obvious?" he laughs.
Will smirks, "Yes. Yes it is."
Kentar blinks. "Really?" he asks. "Oh. Okay..." he hrms.
"Sooo when are you gonna give it to her?" Will asks.
Kentar shrugs and keeps on polishing. "I've...got no idea." he says. "I was thinking...maybe tonight or tomorrow night. But I want the time to be right, so if its not right then, I'll just wait.
Will nods and chews on his lip some, ".... ya think Pa'll do anything when he find out what I did?"
Kentar sighs and takes a few moments to think. "Really, I don't know. The rules said no fighting. Unless you were somewhere else, I'd say he'd be a bit mad."
Will nods a little, "The rules say fighting t be done in th gardens an we were in one of th gardens. The rules also say ya got t have a good reason t be fighting an when you're fighting ya got t fight fair. Yeah, he'll be mad an want know if I'm hurt or not an maybe talk a lot ... never does anything though."
Kentar watches Will for a few moments. "Well, there was no good reason to fight. So..." he shrugs. "Look. If you won't tell him..." he pauses. "I won't either." The stoat grins.
The rat thinks it over some, "If he asks I'll tell him but if he doesn't I wont."
Kentar nods.
