Restlessness Part Three

Characters: Kentar, Amata, Sinway, Skuld, Flicktail, Will, Aikuen, Fira and Garnet(spoof)

Location: Redwall Abbey: Great Hall

Great Hall

Clack clack clack! The sound of a cane hits up on the stares. And following it, is a stoat. Kentar, to be exact. The stoat wanders slowly across what he considers the 'Great Hall of Travel' now since it takes him so long to get from the stairs to a chair. With a wince he lowers himself into a chair and lays his cane across his chest.

With a suddeness that must mean she was in here all along, Skuld is standing behind Kentar's chair. "I met him, last night. I think he might have Zen. Certainly, he knows his name." Not even so much as a 'hello', then.

Kentar blinks. "What!? "he stands and falls back with a grunt of pain. "What? The fox?"

Skuld shakes her head, and moves around the chair, to be able to look at the stoat. She nods, simply, her expression showing little of what she thinks. "Yes, the fox. He told me to give a message to someone named Deadeye. Who is Deadeye?" Now that she's in the stoat's line of sight, he might see a crow's feather tucked behind her ear.

Kentar blinks. "Deadeye? I think I might know but I'm not sure...tell me the message. Quickly now!" he's almost in tears right now, obviously from his shaking. He told that mouse not to go. Stupidity must run in Zen's family.

The cat plucks the feather from her ear, twirling it between the fingers of her left paw. Her eyes watching it dance, happily. "He said... 'Deadeye must have...', now what was it... 'the squirrel, Nidlorf, unarmed and waiting upon the road.' And then he would release Mayeul and Zen... He called Zen, the little one." She's remarkably calm, as she attempts to remember it as perfectly as she can.

Kentar nods slowly. "I will find this beast and pass the message along. I must also tell Flicktail..." he sighs. "Zen is so stupid! I told him not to go after his uncle...now he's going to be tortured...more then likely...Stupid...stupid mouse..." he hands his head...and starts to sob. He doesn't want a beast so young to go though what he went though.

Skuld watches, and her features twist a little, a flash of disgust, before she looks away. "Flicktail won't like that Zen's with that fox, will he?" She twirls the feather again, watching the black shape made in the spinning. "He'll hurt Zen, hm? Do you think he's done the same to Mayeul?"

Kentar nods. "No he wont." He sniffles. "I don't care about Mayeul. I just don't want a dibbun as young as Zen to go though what I did...its...its...horrible!" he growls. "The next time I see that fox, I'll kill him! I swear it!"

"Like last time? You can barely walk. His knives drip venom. The next time you see him, he'll either be dead or, if he isn'nt, you'll be, immediately afterward..." The little cat's attention hasn't wandered from her feather yet.

Kentar Growls and throws his cane to the ground. "I don't care! I don't care! If I die and he does too, then good! At least there will be one less vermin in the lands to worry about." he growls some more then falls back into his seat after putting too much weight on his bad leg.

Skuld lifts her eyes from the feather. One word for him. "Garnet."

Kentar's ear flicks a few times. "Garnet..." he sighs and starts to sob again. "I...hate that fox!"

In comes another stoat, a female one, evidently new to the Abbey judging by her roving eyes which flick speedily around the hall. Her eyes go over to where Kentar and Skuld are, and her legs slowly carry her in that direction.

Unknown to sinway of the events going on in the great hall, sinway makes his way down the stairs looking as if he just woke up

Skuld stills the crow feather between two fingers. "So do a lot of beasts." She breathes, before flicking her eyes over at the new stoat. She doesn't know this one, and watches her for a moment. He left paw moves for a little bag she carries, hidden away.

Kentar looks at his footpaws. "I hate that fox..." he mutters. "I can't leave Garnet...She'd never forgive me..." he looks up towards the other stoat, tilting his head a bit, and wiping his tears away. "Hi."

Sinway looks over with half open eyes "lot of beast in the hall today."

Amata smiles at the other stoat, "So much hate is not good." By the time she says this she's once more taking in the hall, now standing in the middle of the place with her head tilted back some.

Skuld twitches the ear that hasn't been ruined. The voice is familiar. But she stays quiet, looking at the rune she takes from her bag, before putting it back with a quick, little surprised twitch of her tail and whiskers. Amata, gets another look too, for her words.

Kentar slowly stands, using his good leg for balance. "I know. I know." he says with a sigh. Then he looks to Sinway. "Hello Sinway." he says, eye moving back upon the stoat. "New to the abbey? Don't think I have seen you before."

Sinway has not yet notice skuld since his attention was drawn to kentar "hello kentar, whats going on."

It seems to take a moment for Amata to process the other stoat's words, then again, maybe she's just putting on a show. "No, you have not seen me before I'm certain." She gives Skuld a quick look when she takes the rune from her bag but doesn't so much as nod to the cat in greeting.

Skuld has to stare now. Now that she knows the owner of the voice is who she thought it was. Unsure of how she should react, the young cat remains frozen for a moment, before edging back, towards a shadey part of the hall, dropping her feather upon the floor without noticing. Feeling a little more hidden and secure, out of the way, she watches the otter.

Kentar nods a bit. "I figured. I'm Kentar." he nods slowly before peering towards Sinway. "Was talking with Skuld about something. Bout it really. Introducing myself now, to...er..." he looks at the other stoat for a moment, waiting for a name.

Sinway ears perk when he hears skuld he looks around on the floor "where is skuld?" he asks all the sudden "you said you was talking to her, so where is she?"

Kentar frowns. "Over there you blind otter." he points towards Skuld.

Sinway looks to where he points "Skuld!" he moves closer to her

Amata briefly sends a questioning look at the cat as she moves away but replaces it with a small smile when addressing the other stoat, "Amata is my name."

Kentar nods a bit and bows his head slightly before sitting back into the chair. "Well then, welcome to Redwall." he smiles.

"... Strigori." Skuld mutters at him, shaking her head then. Her eyes a little wide at the otter. "Y-you were dead... You left me and didn't come back. You... Why? If you're not dead, than why would you do that? They told me they'd seen you, b-but, I know the stories..."

Sinway frowns a little "Shhh skuld please let me explain, i left you hear, yes i didn't tell you where i was going, or when i was going to be back, i know, but i did it to protect you." he frowns a little more "i was afraid if you knew where i was going you follow me, and be in danger."

Skuld watches him. And, unable to deal with this information, runs for the door.

In a room page-pose, Skuld waves

Sinway sighs and follows "skuld wait." and leaves as well

Kentar looks towards Sinway and Skuld, giving a bit of a smile before looking towards the fire then towards the other stoat.

"Yes," Amata looks around the hall once more, "it's not nearly as impressive as they say it is, in the stories I mean."

Kentar chuckles and looks around. "No, its not is it?" he chuckles. "But you know stories. They always make things out to be better then what things really are."

Kentar is sitting in a chair in the hall, after every beast left, head in his paws, sobbing away.

Flicktail walks in and goes over to get some food, as he rubs his right wrist

Flicktail blink blinks "Someone else died agains?

Kentar looks up and see's Flicktails. "Flicktail!" he stands and limps towards the fox. "Zen...has been taken by the fox!"

Kentar nods. "That we do." he wipes his tears. "I don't want that kid to go through what I went through. We need to find him soon..."

Flicktail says, "wells..send a Sparra to Slamandstron, and another ta King Nulorf... Oi send a Runner to camp willa..and if we kin get yon eagle an sparras to search from above....we kin starts out...."

Flicktail asks, "Wot were Zen doin out where e fox were anna ways?"

Kentar shrugs. "Doing exactly what I told him not to do. Looking for his uncle, who the fox also has. That dibbun is so stupid!" he growls, turning away and clenching his fists. "I'll kill that fox, I really will."

Flicktail doesn't say a Dibbun should not be looking...he only begins eating "send out e messengers and lets get is thing dones

Kentar nods. "I will." he nods. "There was also a message for somebeast called 'Deadeye'. Any idea who this Deadeye is?"

Flicktail says, "nay."

Kentar nods. "Then I will give you the message. It was...for somebeast called Nidlorf to be delivered to the road unarmed...or something...before he returns Mayeul and Zen."

Flicktail says, "Oi will be ready when ye is."

Kentar nods. "I'm ready whenever you are too." he nods once.

Flicktail says, "oi be reddy now but we needs e rest and a place to search or track."

Kentar nods slowly. "Who else will we need?"

Flicktail says, "any we kin get, e Camp Willa otters, e Long patrol... times ta puts a end ta is...King Nilorf's guards....Oi'd loike to find Yon Eagle."

Kentar blinks and nods. "Well...er...He's one fox. I think an army is a little over kill." he then blinks again at the mention of an eagle. "An eagle?"

Flicktail says, "Oi forgets her name but she be ere at redwall if she be willing er eyes woudl be a elp...Baghira or some such name."

Kentar nods slowly. He then stands and grabs his cane as he heads for the stairs. "I'll see who I can get."

Flicktail nods "we need a tracker....and ta find King Nilorf."

Kentar nods. "I'll get who I can...and I'll look for that...king fellow."

Flicktail says, "send a Sparra they be faster."

Kentar nods and starts slowly up the stairs. "I shall. I'll report back when its done."

Will comes down the stairs all packed up, minus his weapons, and ready to leave the Abbey. He's been looking for Kentar and Aikuen all day but hasn't been able to find either of them. "Hi, Flicky," he calls over seeing the white fox, "You seen Pa or Kentar today? I was gonna see if they were ready t go home or not."

Flicktail is sitting down, munching on a sandwich he has made of fish and some flat bread...chucling with a couple of teh Abby novices as his tail flicks about.

Byronn enters the great hall and pulls up a chair at the table with a small bottle of cherry cordial " hello everyone!"

Flicktail asks, "ello there son, wot ya been doins?"

Amata nips in from the Cavern Hole. To anyone who has been around the Abbey for a while it's clear she's new here, and it is also safe to assume that she's exploring the cavernous insides of the place, something that, for the well rounded beast, takes a while.

Byronn says, "i just awoke from a nice nap...i dreampt of that bad fox and that you were in trouble....do you really have to fight him?"

Flicktail looks up and smiles to the new commer "well ello there... welcomes" he waves teh weasel gel over, andthen smiles to Byronn "Some times omeone AS to fight Byronn..but it be alast resort, oi am notgonna fight no beast oi doesn't ave to...

Byronn looks at the weasel with curiosity " well hello there!"

Will takes a seat at the table and checks over his supplies, not seeing his father or brother around he concludes they're off some place else, maybe outside.

Flicktail ruffles Orph's ears with a smile.

Byronn sips his cordial and leans back in his chair "I hope this summer's going to be great....what with fae comming back and all."

Amata gives only a curt nod to Flicktail as she approaches the gaggle of beasts, stopping a few paces away from them, staring at each one intently.

Will ducks his head as the fox ruffles his ears, and smiles at Byronn, "Summer should be great with Fae comin back an my Pa an Fira'll be gettin married then too. Should be a real good summer." The rat's ears swivel toward the stoatmaid, "Hi there. You new t Redwall, Miz?" He shoves the mouse lightly at the bitting comment.

Byronn chuckles again "I sure hope Flicktail decides about Fae.....she's a nice fox." and closes his eyes and sighs.

Amata sits down...quite promptly, "Ooh I'm sure the little fellah doesn't bite, do you?" She seems pleasant enough, maybe a little too pleasant.

Will shrugs, "Don't worry too much, it's a big deal for him t ask her an all thet. Would be for any beast I figure. He don't want t rush into it an scare her off or nothin." The rat parrots things he's heard knowing very little himself how weddings and marriages really work.

Byronn smiles at the weasel ' so...whats your name? mines byronn" and holds out his paw.

"Amata is my name." She smiles, but doesn't accept the paw.

"Not usually Miz," Will answers the stoatmaid. "Wonder where Pa an Kentar got off to," he muses once again giving the contents of his pack a check to be sure he isn't forgetting anything.

Byronn eyes the pack " where are you going? that moledeep place?"

As if by magic, Aikuen slowly hobbles in, looking disgruntled, but happy. He is covered once again with splotches of dirt. He blinks at the new beasts, at least to him, as he makes for the table. He plops down and sighs, wiping sweat from his brow, "Wheh... Hows it going Will?" he asks.

Flicktail smiles up, placing his bowl of Hotroot soup aside "Ello Aikuen, ow be ye?

Byronn pulls out a bag of candied chestnuts and pops one in his mouth "hash anee one sheen anba horsh?" he says with a mouthful of chestnuts?

Flicktail says, "Oi say we not gonns see's much o im we will get e beasts ta make a sweep and drive im outs"

Byronn swallows " who are you going with? i hear badgers are strong"

Flicktail says, "well we will see...fer now Oi ave to be about a chore or two....."

Will nods to the mouse, "Yeah, Moledeep." He hears the otter come in but does bother to turn around as he talks to Aikuen, "Where've you been? I was lookin for ya all over. You seen Kentar anywhere?"

Byronn offers a candied chestnut to Amata "Hello Amata, would you like some?"

"Who's Anba Horsh? Peculiar name," Amata interjects into the conversation with all the subtly and politeness of a crow diving into a party pie

Will says, "Anba Hor. An' I think he means th fox, though haven't heard any other beast call him that before."

Byronn exclaims, "Anba Hor is a bad nasty fox, and my mouth was full of food!"

Aikuen gives a quick salute to Flicktail as he leaves, "I'm doing well thanks...See yah!" He turns to look at the back of Wills head, "I was in the gardens getting some advice, HE JUST WONT SHUT UP!" He laughs, "No i haven't seen Kentar since yesterday, why what's wrong... Oh yeah, the leaving... today right?" He tilts his head at the whole Anba Hor thing, but just stays out.

Amata holds a paw up to deny the chestnuts, "No, sweet things never quite agreed with me. And what is so very bad and evil about this fox?"

Byronn looks at aikuen and shuffles nervously " he uhhh.....well Aikuen knows more than I do so ask him."

Aikuen looks up, "Ask me what?" He knows what they're talking about, but he wants a direct question to him.

Byronn says, "So...Amata how do you like Redwall so far?"

Amata looks over to the otter briefly, "About this Anba Hors-Hor fox that is so nasty and evil." She sounds pretty darn devious, not sarcastic as another beast might sound when putting a question that way. "And I must say," she returns her attention to Byronn, "this place is less impressive than the stories floating around.

The rat had been silent but now turns around to face the otter, "Yeah leavin' today if th stoat ever shows up. If he doesn't we might have t wait til tomorrow. The rat's ear tune back into the conversation between the mouse and stoatmaid, "He tortures beasts an thinks it's fun. He's why I only got one eye now an he nearly killed by new big brothera not too long ago."

Byronn exclaims, "Well sure it may not look great but thats not what makes it great, it's the people that are here, the novices the cooks, and even the dibbun's like me! And it's got a great history!"

Aikuen glares and says, "That fox... As I know as Val... Is a fox that kills and tortures for just for the heck of it... he has been capturing beasts and either killing them or torturing the life out of them for seasons now... And i think im the only one who has ever fought him, and got away...without being captured." He sighs and turns away, obviously not liking this conversation.

Amata nods slowly, "Yes yes, he sounds very dangerous, and only three of you going after this beast, better watch yourselves less you end up getting killed." It wasn't a caution, and towards the end she has to repress a little smirk.

Byronn frowns "Can we change the subject I hate hearing about good beasts being killed or tortured."

"You're th one that started talking about th fox," Will says.

Byronn looks at Will "I didn't expect it to escalate into a full blown discusion about what he does," he snaps and shudders "i-i just want him to go away, 'im just upset cause flicktail could die or get injured."

Aikuen scoffs,"Im not going after him..." He sighs, and changes the subject "So Will, do you know if we will have enough rooms at Moledeep, for all of us?"

Will sighs, "None of us want Flicky t get hurt but he's champion now an will do what he can t keep th Abbey safe. You heard him, he won't fight if he doesn't have too." To the otter he says, "Should, it's got a bunk room an all that like here so should be enough bed t go around if not actual rooms. There's two bedrooms though not countin mine an Racky's, don't know if Kentar could fit in there with us ... it's not very big. Kentar told Sinway that he an Skuld could live with us an Sinway liked th idea .... I didn't say he could yet. It'd be nice t have th extra help but I don't know .... hadn't meant for beasts to live there that wasn't family. Visiting's one thing but living there ... don't know if I'd want that cat in my tunnel even if she isn't as bad as before."

Aikuen blinks at the new information, "Sinway?! Und Skuld?!?" He reverts to his old language and mumbles to himself for quite a bit. Finally he shakes his head and speaks in English, "Its up too you i guess, im okay with it... but if they ever do anything... I may break one of your rules..." He sighs and begins to tap his claws on the table. He totally pushed the the other matter out of his mind right now.

The rat chews his lip some, "Kentar an Sinway acted like it was gonna happen an everyone's happy about it, Kentar did ask me if it was ok an Sinway asked some stuff like is it safe an all ... I told him th truth an he an Kentar seem t think that means 'yes' when it doesn't. I don't know ... sure Sinway could help a lot an help Kentar maybe an hopefully keep Skuld from causing trouble, but I don't know. I was just gonna me me an you an Kentar an later on Fira an now Kentar goes an asks strangers t move in."

Aikuen nods, "Tell them that... And if doesn't listen, I'll tell him... You are the master of the Tunnel, and he needs to learn that... though I don't mind having so many beasts around, but i need to trust them first, and Sinway and Skuld... I don't know..." He shrugs, "Just tell him again, and if he doesn't listen, I'll help."

The rat nods some, "First we'll need t find Kentar ... maybe he's in th infirmary ..."

Aikuen laughs, "If i know Kentar... Ever since he can start moving, he is not in the infirmary..." he rubs some of the dirt from his face, "We could check, but i highly doubt it... I need to ask you something... Its about Fira and us at Moledeep."

Will shrugs, "I figure one th healers or order beasts mighta put him there or something. What ya want t ask me?"

Aikuen takes a deep breath and asks, "Well I was wondering... Instead of leaving Fira here, or letting her go back to her Holt... That she would live with us, until we get married." He scratches his head and winces, "With that fox out and about, I don't think I could leave her... for any amount of time... Even if it was here... I feel more comfortable if she stayed with us..."

Will smirks, "I'd hope she'd still be living with us /after/ you marry her too. I don't mind, but you might want t ask her. There's two bedrooms an a bunk room plus th beds in th infrimary so if you take a bedroom an she takes th other til you're married anyway Kentar'll jus have t find bed in one th other big rooms til th other bedroom is free ... and fore anyone asks Garnet can come too if she an Kentar want but that's /nearly/ th same as Fira coming.

CLACK CLACK CLACK. "Drat! Some help...please?" Kentar asks just after having lost his cane down the stairs. "I dropped my cane...help would be nice..." he asks loudly so that the beasts in the great hall.

Aikuen smiles, "Thanks, and I'll ask her, before we go... Hopefully she will come with us now..." He smiles, and then looks to the stairs, "Oi! Kentar! Yah just give me a sec..." He has gotten used to using a crutch so he heads for the stairs, quicker then normal.

Aikuen picks up the cane, and walks up the stairs until he reaches the Stoat, "Hey, dropping your cane was not part of the game... Fine...here!" He laughs and holds it out to him, and slowly walks back down, "Come on staoty... sit down... take a load off..."

Will watches the stoat and otter from the table, "Hi Kentar, where were you? I've been lookin for you. We're gettin ready t go home."

Kentar takes the cane and smiles some, starting across the hall after getting down those tricky stairs. "Thanks...ottery..." he smirks before sitting down. "I've been arranging something. Zen has been taken by the fox...I was sending sparrows to camp willow for otters to come to the abbey so Flicktail can lead them to battle against the fox." he sighs.

Aikuen blinks as this info is fed to him, "Zen... has been captured by the Fox... DAMMIT!" He slams his fist on the table, and breaths weirdly, "Well at least we got beast on the way to help him..." He rubs his eyes.

Kentar sighs. "The fox also has Mayeul. I want to go after them so badly but I can't."

Aikuen shakes his head, and looks to Kentar, "Please... don't go after him...Please...I know you want too but don't..." He smiles weakly.

Kentar sighs. "I can't go after Zen...but...I want to. I don't want that dibbun to go through what I went through." he starts to sob again. "I HATE THAT FOX!" he shouts.

Aikuen nods, but doesn't raise his voice at all, "Yah... me too... I hate him... Hopefully the forces can take care of him... Im tired of all this..." He sighs and rubs his face now.

"You should hear what the fox let slip... You /really/ should." Comes the voice of the kitten from the near the door. Having slipped in, she's re-acquired her crow feather, and is leant upon the wall, toying with it.

Kentar looks at the Cat. "What...What did the fox let slip? Tell me! Tell me NOW!" He shouts.

Will silent.

Aikuen looks to the cat and frowns, this otter is not in a great mood anymore.

"Mayeul. I almost decided not to mention it. You know, for... hm... 'safety's' sake. It might have changed how you all reacted." She smiles, spinning the feather quickly between thumb and finger.

Kentar eyes her. "Why would you have not mentioned it?" he asks, growling.

Aikuen gets up from the table and grunts, "Im am tired, i am ready to go home... I don't want to even hear this..." He makes a very rude curse, "Im ready to go now..." And he slowly begins to hobble out of the great hall.

"Because you might have done something to get them both killed. But, I think this 'plan' that I just heard will get them killed anyway... So now, it becomes something you /should/ know..." Spin, spin, spin. Pretty crow feather. If someone else were to be spinning it, Skuld would have to pounce. "Someone's been paying that fox... That someone begins with an 'M' and, as far as everyone else thinks, needs 'rescuing'."

Kentar growls and stands. "I know that Mayuel set us up when I was captured. Now be quiet cat and leave." he grabs his cane. "Lets go. Garnet will be down in a minute as she finishes packing."

"You got th wrong beasts, cat. Tell th Abbey champion if you think it's that important." Will follows Aikuen out the door heading for the gate house.

Skuld raises her eyebrows. "Well if you knew, the rest of us might liked to have known... I had to find out from the fox." She mutters, sulkily, her feather halted for a moment. "If you knew, than he should know already. I don't have to tell him." She reasons, watching them move.

Kentar growls. "I never told Flicktail. Now leave us alone you little vermin. Or I will finish the job I started and ruin the rest of you." He growls, getting towards the door. "You really are annoying." he mutters

You hear alarm bells and beasts yelling Attack in the kitchen Path, the Abby is under attack."

Aikuen slaps his face, and walks back in. Garnet reminded him that he needs to tell a certain beast something "I forgot to tell her... Hold on..." He grunts and walks up the stairs. He slowly returns with a very drowsy Fira. She blinks, and smiles at the others, but doesn't say anything. Aikuen grins, "Okay, we're ready now." Walking out the door, totally ignoring the cat.

Skuld shrugs, perking an ear. And shrugs again. "Good trip." She mutters, going back to spinning her feather, and ignoring whatever's happening now.

Garnet comes down the stairs quickly. "Wait for me!" She says. "I'm coming, I'm coming!" She says, panting as she gets next to Kentar, helping him along. Kentar just smiles and pats her shoulder gently as they open the door and step out.
