Rats and Otters

Characters: Will, Aikuen, Fira, Amy

Location: Moledeep

Moledeep: Dibbun's Garden

Will has been work around the kiln most of th morning. He'd put the case he'd made for Kentar's pipe in the stoat's room when he'd gone in for snack. Amy had lured him away from the kiln to take a walk while his latest batch of figurines bake. The rats walk around the gardens talking about the letters they'd received, the new kiln and various other things.

The otters are swimming in the pond again, as it is hotter than normal. One of them hangs around the shallow area to keep an eye on Chris, while the other swims around the deeper area. Aikuen is the one holding Chris at the moment, while Fira swims around in the reeds, practicing underwater acrobatics. When the female otter jumps in and out of the water, Aik claps and tickles Chris, "Oh did you see that! That was a beautiful jump! Made by a beautiful otter!" he chuckles. Chris just blinks up at the older otter, and gurgles, "zon-ter..." Aik smiles and says, "Yes... Zon-ter..." he chuckles. He then just catches the rats in the corner of his eye. He looks to them, and was about to call them over, then decides against it. Let them have their peace.

Will plays with his necklace as he talks with Amy, then pulls out a small thick opened envelope from his pocket and waves it around a little. They're too far away from the otters for their voices to be heard but Will look upset about something that has to do with the letter he got.

Amethyst smiles and her mouth is moving so she's probably talking but doesn't seem effected by whatever is bothering Will. She shrugs and waves a paw dismissively as if he's blowing this way out of proportion, whatever it is. She smiles a little at him and walks toward the sounds of splashing, not wanting to discuss whatever it is further.

Chris wants to be placed in the water to splash around again. Aik lowers him closer to the water, but keeps a good hold on him. Chris would rather be put in the water, but he can still splash all the same. Aik chuckles as he gets splashed, "Hey, watch it you little buggar!" he laughs. He checks up on the rats again. Will seems a bit peeved at whatever it was, HEY a letter! Oh... the letter. The otter shrugs, as he watches Amy come closer, going back to watching Fira. Just ignore whatever it is, its their problem.

Will gives up for now and goes off to check the kiln leaving Amy to the otters and Chris.

Amethyst draws closer to the pond. She can hear Chris splashing and laughing before she feels the ropes and posts. "Hey there. Chris sounds like he's having fun. How is everyone else doing?" she asks.

Aikuen turns to Amy, and gives a warm smile, "Hiya Amy!" like its his first time seeing her today, "How are you today? Yep, he is just having a grand ole time, soon he going to be one heck of a swimmier... if I can help it!" he chuckles, "I'm doing just great... And Fira is swimming around...She is also doing great!" Fira makes a jump in the water again, miss seeing the rat maid. Aik chuckles, "She says hi!" he continues to hold Chris near the water.

Will returns from the kiln and settles down on the grass to read his book from yesterday not saying anything to the others right now.

Kentar comes out from the path and smiles to himself. "Oohh way hey hey its an ordinary day in another state of mind..." he sings out and then stops as he sees the others. "Hey everyone." he smiles.

Amethyst shrugs at the otter, "Fine. Will's a little annoyed at me but that happens." Her ears tilt backward toward the stoat's voice and she calls out, "Hi, Kentar," without turning to face him.

Aikuen shrugs at Amy, "I guess so..." he would say something about, you know, working out everything with your partner... even though technically there not partners yet. But he remains quiet about it. He hears her call out for Kentar, and tilts his head, going to look around to look at the stoat, "Oh Hi Kentar, How are you! Garnet back yet?" he asks. Fira breaches the water, and she blinks at all the new beasts, "Hiya!" she then goes to rest next to Aik. Aik smirks, and takes Chris from the water, and starts to tickle him, "Your Father is here Chris!" Chris giggles and gurgles, "Flopuiler" the otter chuckles at that.

Will is busy reading and doesn't look up from his book, though he knows the others are there.

Kentar looks to Aikuen and nods with a great big smile. "I'm great and she is! Yeah!" he smiles then grins. "She wants to see Chris so I guess I'll have to take him from your care, you slippery critters." he smiles.

Will watches the other beasts over the top of his book but tries to keep his attention on his book and off other things.

Aikuen nods and stands up to hand Chris to his father, "I'm guessing since you are not freaking out, that she is all right and in one piece?" he laughs and gives a small touch to Chris's chin. The little once gurgles, "Gloplyp" and then giggles. Aik smiles, "We will go see Garnet later, give you and your stoaty family some time together alone!" he chuckles before winking at the stoat, and going to sit back in the shallows next to Fira.

Kentar takes his son and swings him around a little with a smile. "Yeah. She's in one piece. Quite glad to be back too." he smiles before nodding a little. "Thanks Aik. I'll see you guys later." he goes off to find his wife again.

Amethyst is still standing next the pond leaning on the rope and post fence, "All stoats accounted for then," she says hearing that Garnet is back.

Aikuen says, "See yah! All stoats accounted for, off... to somewhere" they both laugh, and slip into the water. They're under the water for a good while, and then Aik breaches and goes to lay his arms on one of the sides, so as not to leave the Ratty pair alone, since there not apparently speaking to each other right now. Fira breaches next to him, and does the same thing, titling her head at them. Aik shrugs and asks Amy, "So... Why is my son annoyed at you?" yes, he can see Will but he acts like he is not here, just in case Amy doesn't know that he is.

Amethyst sighs, "He's upset over a nice gift my father sent him just because it was quite as nice as it first appeared to be but he fixed that so it should be fine now but he's upset about it. I don't see why he's still upset about it when it's already been taken care of. ...." the maid's words trail off and she shakes her head.

Will tries to look like he's deeply involved in his book even though he can hear Aikuen and Amy quite clearly from where he's sitting.

The otters blink at that and Aik says, "Ummm... What?.... You mind saying that again... Filling in the object, with what it actually is... not just alluding to it... Or else you are talking nonsence to us..." he shakes his head.

Amethyst nods. "Oops. Let me try that again. Will read the letter my father sent for him and he understood what it said and didn't have any problems with it. Inclosed with the letter was a gold ring with a small amethyst stone set on it. I'd told Daddy about our wedding plans when I first wrote him and that I was the only one getting a ring. I wrote him other things as well and apparently he'd decided to have a ring made for Will, which I think was very nice of him since he's made it clear he does really approve. Will was looking at the ring and we were talking and I explained why it fit so well and how I'd wrote my father and some of the things I'd told him about Will and while we were talking Will discovered that the stone on his ring is the lid of a tiny hidden box. It wasn't that surprised at first since many beasts have rings like that with hair or fur of their partner in it or if they can afford it a portrait of them."

Amethyst sighs, "They also are used to keep poison and are even called poison rings in some places. ..... It's empty now but he's still a little upset about it."

Aikuen nods a few times, as it made sense. Then she talked about the poison and he blinks a few times, "Poison? Really?" He looks to Will, then back to Amy, "Well i can understand, if he was a little upset... But not this upset... Do you mind if i see the ring... Kinda good with poisons... if there is any... I will be able to tell..." Fira just nods a little, as Aik explained that to her one time, and she trusts him.

Will puts his book away and walks off back to the kiln to work on something.

Amethyst says, "He has th ring and he said he was going t get rid of what was in it but I don't know if he's done that already or not."

Aikuen watches as his son walks off, "Er, was it something I said?" he blinks a few times and shrugs, "Well if there was poison in it, he better be careful.... but since you guys said it was empty... i guess its okay, as long as he doesn't touch the inside..." he hmms, "I wonder why he is so upset... He got a good looking ring... I see no problem... and if there was a poison, there is several antidotes in the infirm..." Fira sighs and leans against Aik.

Will returns from the kiln after quite a while smiling. He walks up behind Amy quietly, motioning to the otters to not say anything, he reaches down and gives her tail a tug before backing up so she won't bump into him should she turn around.

Amethyst pretends not to hear the other rat as he tries to sneak up on her. She turns around when her tail is pulled, "Hey! Who did that?" she asks though she knows very well who did it.

Will grins and stays very still to see what Amy will do now.

Amethyst walks toward Will drawn toward him by sent but she stumbles and drops her staff falling forward.

Will moves to try and catch Amy, though the fall is unlikely to hurt her, and ends up on his back with her on top of him.

Amethyst runs a paw over Will's face, "Sorry. You ok?" She moves a little so he can sit up if he wants to.

Will was a little dazed at first but seeing her moving away he moves to stop her and wraps his arms around her waist so she can't get far. "I'm fine. You didn't know I was here did you?" he says thinking she hadn't heard him sneak up on her.

Amethyst smirks, "I knew you were here. And you need a bath. You're all sweaty from the kiln's fire not t mention th heat in general." She presses her nose to his as she speaks and wiggles her ears, teasing him.

Will rolls his eye and pulls her closer, "I was working! ... and it's hot out." He grins and nuzzles her check forgetting the otters are right there.

Amethyst nuzzles him back a little, "You still need a bath. ... and I think we should go somewhere else .... with less otters."

Will ohs and turns red at the reminder that they aren't alone. "Y-yeah," he mumbles letting her go and moving to get her staff for her.

Amethyst takes the staff and nudges Will toward the rose garden. Once she can't hear him anymore she turns back toward the otters, "I think things will be better now." "Goodbye waterdogs, I have things to do. Important things .... like trying to knock sense into your son's hard head," she adds with a determined look on her face.

Aikuen just tilts his head at her, and then just shakes it. He sighs, and hops quickly out of the water, Fira close behind him. They shake water from them carefully so they dont get the rat-maid wet. He says, "I just saw the stoats leaving, I didnt see Chris... We will go check up on the little guy..." they start to head off, "Amy, if you need help! Anytype at all, Just go ahead and yell for me! Either me or Fira, will come a runnin'!" Fira nudges Aik, and walks after him. They both enter Moledeep and head for the stoats room, and the crib of Chris, the stoat babe.
