Salamandastron ---------------

Here lies the collective efforts of a few good, intellectual hares of the mountain. Over the seasons, this room, which was once little more than a storage room, has been converted into a quite functional library, filled with books of all sorts. The room is staggered with bookshelves, all crafted within the mountain, which reach very nearly to the ceiling, with only a foot or two of space above them, in most instances. And, surprisingly, the shelves are basically all full. Apparently, over the seasons, hares have donated books, and books that were previously stored elsewhere have been brought here. Some books are older than any of the hares alive in the mountain, and, even more, some are nearly as old as the mountain, itself. These sort are usually journals and records - histories of the mountain. In fact, there is an entire section of this, in a corner of the room, which one can only get to by making their way through the maze of bookshelves to that corner, which is quite like a room in and of itself, closed in by walls on two sides and bookshelves on the two others. However, in the center of the main room, there are two tables set, and upon these books like, some open and some closed, despite the efforts of the librarian hare to keep them on the shelves.

Sitting there at a desk, lit by a flickering candle the major looks at a map scrooled out flat on the table with some books keeping it from roling back up at the corners. On top of the map is a small piece of parchment which the hare moves to write a bit more down with some ink and a quill.

The door opens and Quinten walks in flicking his ears and trying to get sand out of them, he looks a bit damp around the fur tough his uniform looks clean and fresh. Moving futher into the room he heads towards a shelf then spots the Majuor and salutes "Good day sir"

Jarril blinks at the page, before slowly using a cloth to mop up the mistake he's made as he turns his head around, quill being wiped by the cloth. "Ah, still revising?"

Quinten nods his head "Yes sir, got alot to read though as your here i got somethin to report sah"

Giving a slight frown, Jarril nods his head and places the quill down on top of the parchment. "Oh and that would be what?"

Quinten shuffles "Just tha word has reached us that Lieutenant Zeraph has been seen in Halyard, and that Sorrel was planning on leaving to go speak to him"

Jarril nods. "I didn't know he left, well thank you anyways. Er..." He paused. "What was the reason for him leaving the mountain again?"

Quinten shrugs "No one know sir, he and Major Darklett disappeared about three days ago,"

Jarril nods. "I see...." Turning around, the major picks up the quill and starts to gently dip it into the small vial. Keeping quiet he goes back to writing while looking at the map.

Quinten moves back towards the shelf he was orginally aiming for and lifts down a large book on sabre form "I do not know any more then you sir, sorry i can't be of any help"

Jarril nods his head. "Don't worry about it, I am sure there's a good explanation." Small tinkle as he wipes some ink from the end of the seagull feather before scratching at the parchment.

Quinten peers curioulsy at the map and parchment trying to see what he is writing but can't as he's looking at it upside down "Well sir i should stop bothering you"

Somewhere on the muck, Sorrel has disconnected.

Jarril stops writing and shakes his head. "The libraries for anyone, stop worrying and do what ya need ta do." Grinning slightly. "Besides I'll let ya know if ya bothering me."

Quinten grins back and nods "Yes sah" he sits down in a chair and opens the book, flicking through it rapidly to find where he was "Oh sah...have you seen Taye lately? I wanted to ask him something"

Jarril shakes his head. "No, I haven't seen much of anyone lately. I've been busy sorting out some things."

Quinten nods his head, eyes scanning the pages of the book, turning a page every now and then "Ahhh sir, anything important?" he looks up hopeful to hear something

Jarril grins. "Just normal solo patrol, nothing much happening. The map needs updating that's all of the area."

Quinten sinks back "Ahhh right ye are Major pretty important work that"

Jarril smirks. "Just be glad I have ta do it and can't pass it onto ya for writing." The major notes down something else as he writes another line down for the hare that has to redraw the map once again. "Anyways, best ta keep up with what is out there and where, never know when we need it."

Quinten nods his head, ears flopping back and forth "Yes sir i can see how that would be important, did you get caught in the rain? I never realised it could turn the sand into such...an awful muck" hhe flicks his ears which shakes off the odd grain of sand. "And trust me sir you do not want me re-drawing your maps"

Jarril looks up and grins. "I take it ya haven't learnt on how ta run on all conditions. Rain, snow, doesn't matter for me, besides I've been doing this for over ten seasons now so.." He finishes one line and then nods his head, wiping the quill as he places it down on the desk before rolling up the map with the parchment inside of it, finished with his work.

Quinten nods his head and turns a page "Well sir basic runner training is not till i make first class, my only real experience with running is around the base of the mountain a few times"

Jarril nods. "Well, it's basic running anyways, ya get more used ta it in time."

Quinten nods "I hope so sir, tis about the one thing i'm not too good at the running, though

Jarril slowly gets up and moves over to one of the in trays, pushing in the scroll as he listens. "Ah, fighting. Not something I want ta do unless I need to."

Quinten nods his head "Yes sir, thats understandable ye are a runner but i'm training to fight so tis best i learn that"

Jarril slowly moves back to the table and begins to clear away the ink jar, plugging the cork into the top as he nods his head. "Aye well. I got pulled into fighting a few times by my cousin, I won't be pulled into that anymore, I ain't that good at it."

Quinten nods "Aye sir, but i bet you could outrun anyof us"

Jarril grins. "Ah, I won't have that one much longer. Quite a few good young runnah's that look like they give me a beating on that as well." Moving to the librarian desk, he places the things on there carefully.

Quinten closes the book and puts it back on its shelf and turns to look over at you and smiles "Well sir we all get old sometime"

Jarril grins. "Ah, those that get old have managed ta survive many battle if it comes. I think I've either been very lucky or skilled enough ta survive. Either way it's a good thing." Moving back to the table again he begins to pick up a few books, moving back to where they were on the shelves, pushing them in gently.

Quinten nods and smiles "Well aye hope i get to live as long asyou sir, though i got to make the patrol first i guess"

Jarril pads back slowly. "Well, my survivor has come at a price." Frowning slightly as the price is a bit high but he shrugs and picks up the last remaining books and begins to make his way to another part of the library. "My advice.." Talking from behind a book shelf on the other side. "Try and see the world as much as possible. Long Patrol's out of the area are good at that." The major stops mid way of pushing a book in and smiles. "You never know what you may come across out there." The hare going back to that time he was too drunk to remember anything.... "But try not ta get ta drunk mind, especially middle of a patrol, even if a badger lord orders it, try and figure a way out of it."

Quinten chuckles softly and nods "Did that happen to you sir? get ordered to be drunk by a Badgerlord? and i'll keep that in mind, i'd like to see some places out there some day, life can't just be the mountain"

Jarril pokes his head from behind the bookcase and ponders for a moment. "Well, not... Not exactly ordah'd... More like invited." Moving out from the bookcase he grins. "I was young, foolish and wanted ta prove I could be with the big hares. Though I was a bit silly ta think I could drink a big bally badger under the table, wot."

Quinten chuckles and nods and runs a paw through his head fur "Well sir aye've already ad me first angover....was not tha nicest thing"

Somewhere on the muck, Zoe_Lang has disconnected.

Jarril nods and looks about. "Well, I best not keep ya from ya studies. I have ta go get washed, then I am heading off for the night. Don't stay up ta late."

Somewhere on the muck, Sorrel has disconnected.

Quinten salutes and nods his head "I won't sah will get an early night i hope, take care Major and i'll see you soon"
