RW Abbey: Great Hall

The Great Hall of Redwall Abbey. Countless paw falls have echoed from these stones, and untold numbers of feasts and merry gatherings have been held here. A table, not nearly so grand or large as its predecessors, but quite functional for mealtimes, rests near the center of the hall. Chairs exist here aplenty, though most of them are obviously not from the same set. High above, the stain glass windows give the Great Hall a beautiful appearance. The glasswork is exceptionally done, crafted by a skilled artist. The floor is clean and swept. A fire is kept burning in the fireplace at almost all times of the day and night, and there are several more comfortable chairs and cushions set up here, of varying sizes. One looks large enough to easily accommodate a badger.

The Tapestry hangs proud and tall, and while the rest of Redwall may still bear the scars of natural disaster, this most famous of Redwall's relics remains unharmed by beast, time, or the elements. The figure of Martin the Warrior seems to be watching over his own with an unchanging, kindly gaze.

Soft light is slowly beginning to filter in through the stained glass windows high above your head.

Furgo walks into the room, and takes a deep breath of morning air. He takes out his little black journal, and starts doodling offhandedly.

A figure is sat by the fireplace a brush and a pan in his paws slowly sweeping up the dust and charcoal from last nights fire.

Furgo continues to doodle, the scratch of pen on paper highly audible.

Quinten looks up and smiles flicking his ears back, "Brother Furgo, good day to you."

Furgo looks up, and says, "Good Morning, Quinten."

Quinten smiles and tips the ashes into a bucket and begins to sweep up more, "How are you today?"

Furgo replies, "Good, good. You?"

Quinten empties the pan again and sits back brushing back his head fur, "I am good Brother, i had a nice nights sleep."

Furgo says, "Good to hear. Do you have any idea as to whn Keiran will have the belltower plans all copied out? I can't wait for work to start."

Quinten smiles and picks up the bucket of ashes, "The Brother said sometime next week he should be ready to start

Furgo says, "Good." He smiles, and continues his doodle.

Quinten peers at the parchment "What are you drawing? He puts the bucket to one side out of the way and then behins to load logs intothe fire place."

Furgo looks at his doodle, and says, "Er...nothing important." It is in fact a very well-drawn doodle of a mousemaid, wearing the habit of an orderbeast, and a headband.

Quinten peers at the picture, "Well it is quite a nice picture Furgo." He lays another log down across the grate and sits back, "There all ready for tonighit if we need it."

Furgo smiles, and says, "Thankyou." Obviously he's a bit embarrased.

Quinten chuckles softly and moves to pick the bucket again, "Care to come with me whilst i dispose of this?"

Furgo says, "Sure." He closes the book, and rises.

RW Abbey: Kitchen Path

A broad path leads down through the short grass of the area. The orchards spread far and wide on one of the sides, near the abbey's outer wall. From this distance the dirt path can be seen winding through the grassy orchards, and along with it many dibbuns eager for the sweet cheeries, apples, and various other fruity delights. Nearby the vegetable garden makes its presence known by the plumpness of the fruits and plants. The kitchen wall rests on the other side of the garden path, and the large kitchen door usually sits propped open to ease the heat of the kitchens. Often, a beast can catch tantalizing wisps of the foods being cooked. Beside it is a small breezeway that seems to connect the kitchens to the great hall. The great hall appears still great even in this distance, dwarfing the kitchen structure.

This path is frequently used, and has a darker and sooty look to it. Tightly packed, and bordered by softer and fluffier snow that bears the tell-tale marks of several paws. Thrown snow lumps, once snow balls, lay by the side of the path, yet another piece of evidence to incrimnate the dibbuns. Etched into the snow are the footpaws of the many creatures who have travelled through this path. The road is like a winding ivory scarf, woven on the loom of the Abbey and filled with the designs of Abbeybeasts.

Quinten walks out to the main Kitchen Path where a small wooden box is set on the ground with a lid which can be opened and the Novice dumps the ahshes into it.

Furgo follows, and watches approvingly.

Quinten shuts the lid and puts the bucket down next to two others. "There all done, so Furgo what else is there to do today?"

Furgo thinks a moment, and says, "Well, I believe that it's been awhile since the cellar was last cleaned, and the kegs and barrels wer elast checked to make sure their contents are still good. If only redwall had a cellarkeeper."

Quinten unfolds his paws from his sleeves and grins, "Ok then Furgo let us go clean the cellar."

Furgo smiles, nodding, and starts heading back for the cellars.

RW Abbey: Wine Cellar

The wine cellar is cool, dry, and dimly lit. It is a very large, low room, extending far back into the Abbey's underworks. The vast space is almost entirely taken up by rack upon rack of wine bottles and ale casks, barrels of all sizes, and shelves of flagons and stoneware flasks. For all the space available, the drink here only fills a small part of it, and most of the barrels still stand empty. There have been obvious work efforts occuring here recently, and the cellar is, if emptier than seasons past, cleaner than it has been in a long while. The further corners of the cellar are hidden in shadow, and consist of many nooks and crannies.

Quinten walks down into the wine cellar and sneezes as his footfalls begin to kick up dust. "Your right this has been neglected."

Furgo nods, sneezing. "I think I'd better get a mop, a bucket, and a broom." He starts heading up the stairs very, very, very, very carefully.

Quinten nods and watches you leave moving across the stones slowly dust puffing up around the hare settling on his habit as as he looks at the various barrels and firkins.

Furgo returns after a moment with the cleaning supplies, and on the second to last step on the way down..."Woaaaah!!!" He wobbles a bit, and falls off the stairs. When he lands, he hurriedly checks all his limbs, worriedly.

Quinten looks back at you as a cloud of dust billows up around both of us you land, he hurries over towards you. "Are you ok Furgo?"

Furgo says, "Yes, yes." But he's very far from calm.

Quinten leans down to help you up to your paws, "Up you come Furgo," The strong buck has a great grip on your arm now.

Furgo allows himself to be helped up. He gradually begins to calm down.

Quinten chuckles softly at Furgo and moves to pick up the mops and broom that Furgo dropped, "Come on let us get this place tidied up."

Furgo nods, still calming down.

Echo walks down to the cellar from the kitchen she ducks to get in she bumps into a shelf and goes to sit down.

Quinten picks up a bucket and moves across to fill it humming softly getting ready to clean the cellars

Furgo takes the broom, and starts sweeping, finalliy calm.

Quinten comes back with a full bucket and picks up a broom as well. "So do we seep it al first and then mop it?"

Echo is sat on the ground rubbing her head as she goes to stand up.

Furgo nods. "To get all the dust. The mops are for dirt."

Quinten nods and begins to sweep along the floor sweeping dirt into small piles ready to be collected.

Furgo continues his sweeping.

Echo says, "Need help."

Quinten looks up and smiles at echo, "Help is certainly welcome miss."

Furgo turns and sees Echo for the first time. He nods.

Echo grabs a mop setting her staff down she begins to mop the floor.

Quinten hums softly and looks back "Oh Miss wait don't start that yet, we need to sweep the piles up." He points to where he and furgo have swept up the dust and dirt of the floor into piles.

Furgo nods, still sweeping.

Echo nods her head and stops puting the mop back she then starts sweeping.

Quinten smiles at Echo "Thanks Miss," he puts his broom down and picks up a brush and a pan and begins to sweep up the piles of dirt.

Furgo also begins to sweep up his piles of dirt.

Echo begins to sweep hers up she rubs a bump on her head then gets back to work."It is no problem."

Quinten hums softly and dumps the dirt into a bucket for disposal later on.

Furgo does the same as Quinten.

Echo does the same she then goes to rub her head again.

Quinten looks about leaning on the broom and looking over the floor, "Ok i think we can start mopping it now."

Furgo nods, grabbing a mop.

Echo goes to grab the mop again starting to mop.

Furgo starts mopping as well, after wetting it.

Quinten uses a mop in the water and then wipes it over the floor humming softly as he works,

Echo begins to mop more wetting it and then setting it on the floor. She then starts to hum as well.

Furgo continues mopping.

Quinten laughs softly and begins to hum in time with Echo, keeping the song in flow with hers, letting the natural acoustics of the cellar pick up his voice and magnify it.

Echo nods her head still moping she begins to sing.

Furgo still mops, and listens to the song.

Quinten is singing an old Long Patrol marching song as he mops out the cellar floor

Echo smiles as she mops and sings.

Quinten shakes his head as he brings the marching song to an end and leans on his mop looking over the cellar floor, "There i do believe i am done"

Echo nods her head looking at her spot."Me to."

Furgo says, "Me three."

Quinten nods and leans his broom against the wall and heads towards the door, "Well now this has been done i have a lesson to get to so if you will excuse me"

RW Abbey: Library

The library is disturbingly empty of books and scrolls, and only a small fraction of the knowledge it should be able to hold is actually present and available for perusing. The beautifully crafted windows are well cleaned. Giving the library plenty of light during the daylight hours. This, combined with the room's high vaulted ceiling, causes a rather foreboding play of shadows in the corners and between shelves. The flagstones of the floor are cool and smooth, and echoes of clicks and thumps can be heard quite clearly when beasts walk among the mostly bare shelves. Brass lamps containing short, fat little white candles provide enough light for reading.

Long beams of sunlight stream in through those windows that are not covered over, giving the entire room a light and cheerful feel.

Off in a back corner of the library is where Jakk has tucked himself away to hide for a couple of days now. The young buck hasn't looked so small in a while, curled up into a ball with his head tucked in against his arm. However, sad hazel eyes show over the top of the limb, watching as he flips a locket open with the other paw then shoves it back into his pocket.

The door opens and Quinten walks inside, he moves across the room towards a bookcase but then catches sight of Jakk. He pauses and looks over towards him and sighs sadly, moving towards the younger buck he sits down on a chair and looks at him. "Hello jakk." Is all he says

With her left knee swollen to twice its size, the doe limps into the library, trying to avoid any healery types that might be roaming around. Kae's eyes roam over the room, spotting the two bucks immediately with a strangled gurgle. Erk! Not wanting her height to be noticed, the doe scrambles into the nearest chair, looking about for some book to occupy her paws.

When Jakk hears Quinten come over, he tucks in further into the blanket and pillows shoved in the corner with him. Looks like he's trying to make a borrow almost. o.o One ear flicks up when he hears the doe's entrance and 'erk' however, nothing is stated to that either. The buck hasn't actually reemerged since Flaxpaw left.

Quinten looks down at Jakk and reaches out a paw as if to lay it on him, he pauses and looks back at the Doe with a frown before turning back to Jakk. "She had to leave Jakk, she was not happy here, she asked me to tell you that, before she left. She told me to tell you she was sorry and that she'll be back someday."

Kaelin has found a book, only its upside down as she flips through it, trying to look as inconspicuous as possible. Her ears are turned towards the others though, listening quietly to them.

"I don' care, Quin. She can /never/ come back for all I care.." Jakk's eyes are hidden from view now, but he is trying not to be seen by Kaelin mostly. This means not looking at her in hopes that she won't look at him if he does. The buck's voice sounds a little different, somewhat gruffer which only makes it so odd against him being curled up there like a dibbun.

Quinten frowns worriedly and glances back at the doe before leaning forwards to place a paw on Jakk's shoulder, "Jakk....it is ok, she's doing what she wanted to do, you couldn't have gone with her." His brow creases further as he tries to think of something encouraging. "Me and Harper are still here..."

Avoid eye contact. That is Kaelin's goal right now as she stares at the book quietly, trying to find some pictures to look at. But, Quint ruins that as he mentions a certain buck's name, gaze quickly turning towards the pair with a raised brow. Hrm.

Growl. "Harper. Yeah right.. Harper won' even /look/ at me unless I'm doin' something wrong." Jakk goes to shove Quinten's paw off and start sitting up, brown ears laying back across his black neck fur. "Besides.. said I didn' care. She only told me she wasn' gonna go. Now this." One quick glance is sent towards Kaelin, then he clears his throat.

Quinten sighs and leans back "Ok Jakk well i'm your friend aren't i? Flax is gone and she isn't coming back and Harper...well i got my suspicions about Harper but he's a good buck too, we need to stick together ok we are all Recruits in a strange place." Blustering and making it up as he goes along, he has no idea how to deal with Jakk.

Kaelin watches the pair, ears slowly beginning to curl inward, lips pursing in thought. She eyes Quinten with a frown, setting aside her book as she hops up, left leg not touching the ground. "Excuse me, but its been my experience that when someone's been hurt its best to let 'em be till they feel like talking." Kae offers, a slight smirk appearing as she hops over to a bookshelf.

Jakk tucks his legs in against his body, hugging them as he scowls somewhat. "Well.. yes.. But-" He is cut off by Kaelin's comment, watching her move over towards the bookshelf. The buck smirks just a little and shrugs, clearing his throat and resting chin on his knees. "My voice is actin' funny..." Is all he mumbles.

Quinten frowns at Kaelin he does not think he knows her then he turns back to Jakk and smiles, "It is ok Jakk...your at the right kind of age for your voice to change it happens to us kind of bucks."

Kaelin frowns herself, sticking her tongue out at Quinten once he's turned back around. Leaning back against the shelf, she goes back to watching the pair, trying to suppress her giggles.

Jakk grumbles, ears pinning back even further. "That's just.. great." His gaze can't help but rest on Kaelin again, seeming a bit curious about what she is giggling about. Suddenly he flushes across the bridge of his muzzle and goes to get up and run. Good thing he has black fur there anyway..

Quinten blinks in surprise as Jakk stands up suddenly and turns around to frown at Kaelin again to see what she has done. "Jakk it is ok...honest it happens to us bucks...it is jus tpart of growing up...things turining on inside out bodies." Turning on....yeah that is as good an explanation as any other.

Kaelin was actually giggling at Quinten, biting her lip as Jakk suddenly just pops up to run away. Erf. Breathing a sigh, she stands straight once more, her freaky tallness evident now. "Not that you care, but that's not the best way of explaining things." She mumbles to Quinten, as she steps into Jakk's path with a wince. "Now, what your friend here was trying to say is that everyone goes through a period of life they hate. For me, its well all the time now but you'll grow out of it soon enough. Or you might not. Just don't let anyone bother you about it cause it shouldn't matter what others think."

Woah! Big doe! Jakk nearly runs into her. At the last moment he kicks his footpaw against the floor to try and stop himself, this causing a sailing backward onto his rump. Having been floored, the buck just stays where he is, eyes averted from Kaelin. "Yeah. Guess so.. sorry.." Mumble. He's not going to move for a little while it seems, just rested back on his elbows.

Quinten stands up and walks over to Jakk, "I was trying to be tactful ok Miss?" he leaves it hanging to see if she will give a name and turns to smile at Jakk. "I'm still living through most of my changes takes a couple of seasons and then its done and your pretty much an adult as far as your body is concerned."

Antares anyway.. And.. well.. he probably won't even fight back." to you.

"Ha. Tactfully is not what he needs. Be honest with him." Kaelin replies, rolling her eyes heavenward with a sigh. She ignores Jakk's reaction to her height, paws slipping into her pocket as another smirk tugs at her lips. "Kaelin Errol Lightfoot. And really, I don't think he wants to hear this right now. Just making it worse for him you know."

"Yeah. Thanks... " Jakk mumbles in agreement to Kaelin's statement towards Quinten. Both ears have gone red on the inside, whiskers flickering quickly with embarrassment. And suddenly he seems to think he is a freak. Lovely, aye? XD

Quinten looks down at Jakk and kneels down, "Hey ok i'll shut up about it for now, but you got any questions you come ask me ok. I can tell you all you really need to know about it." He holds out a paw to the younger buck. "Shall we go eat?"

Kaelin watches the pair, shaking her head as Quint continues to go on, glancing back towards the door. Sigh. She eases her weight down on her left leg, who's knee is swollen to twice its normal size, and goes to limp off elsewhere, in hopes of finding a certain buck.

Jakk just pushes himself up to his footpaws without any help from Quinten. "Yeah.. Sure.. Food is.. good, right?" The buck shuffles towards the entrance, as he avoids all eye contact with everyone. Seems he's been embarrassed enough for the time being..

Quinten nods and decides to let the topic drop form now and opens the door, "Food is definatly good Jakk there is always something new to be had here in the abbey, come on let us go see what they have to offer us today."

RW Abbey: Kitchen

This is a long, narrow room with five large fireplaces set into one wall, and two equally large wood burning iron stoves set against the opposite wall. Several small, rectangular tables rest in here, but there are no chairs available. The rest of the wallspace is taken up by an entire array of shelves, cupboards, and counters which hold the day-to-day cooking supplies and utensils. The kitchen is clean and well maintained, and more recent efforts have been made toward organization of the cooking ware.

On the wall just right of the door leading into Great Hall is a neatly penned chart, which lists the names of beasts assigned to cooking duty as well as the dates and times they are scheduled. A small note above the chart urges residents to volunteer for at least a slot or two a week.

Outside, the last rays of sunlight are fading. The ovens are being allowed to cool.

Hm-hm-hmmmmm. Chores. The kitchen is empty save for Harper, who is apparently a lot more... free with himself when other people aren't around? He's mopping the floor. But this isn't just some hum-drum chore, no! He is crouched and ready to spring against one wall of the kitchen, half of the floor to his right already wet and glistening while that to his left is dry as a bone. All of a sudden, with no warning, he launches himself forward, pushing the mop along the ground in front of him. Mooooooopzoom!

Searching an abbey with a swollen knee is not a great idea, but Kaelin continues to limp along, trying to ignore the throbbing. Her search has lead her to the kitchen, which is a natural place to find a hare of course. XD Limping in, Kae slumps against the wall, eyes looking over the room thoughtfully. Oo. She spots Harper with a smirk, shaking her head as she watches the little escapade. "'lo there."

Just behind the doe is the exact opposite to her tall lanky form, as short as he's always been is Quinten, he peers around her and cannot help but chuckling as Harper zooms past on his mop. Clapping his paws together and shaking his head, "I say Harp old bean great job wot."

Taking up the rear of this 'Happy Little Troop' is Jakk, who.. well doesn't give a crud about what Harper is doing. Nor anything else for that matter, at the moment. His arms are folded across his chest and he's kind of huddled to as small of a position he can be in while still standing upright. In his thoughts to what is holding up the entrance, Jakk's mind wanders to other things, plotting to run off to another hiding spot.

Despite the sudden appearance of beasts he really doesn't want to have see him running around like a goof, Harp can't stop himself until he hits the wall, the mop thunking ahead of him and a paw going up to soften the inevitable *thump*. And even with the other hares now present, he can't help the brief grin that flickers across his features as he pants, leaning one shoulder against the wall. Doesn't take long for him to come around to addressing the other three hares, though. He turns, and as he turns, his expression turns neutral and he blinks. Brow quirk, all with the innocence. "What? Aincha ever seen someone mop a floor before?"

Ack, she was followed. o.o Kae jumps, which causes a sharp yelp of pain to escape her, a brief scowl crossing her features. "Bloody knee." She mumbles, hopping/limping away from Quint, muttering under her breath more. Harp catches her attention again, bobbing her head with a grin. "Yes, but never with such enthusiasm."

Quinten grins and agrees with Kae as he moves deeper into the kitchen and over to a table loaded with various food dishes. "Aye Harp i have, was doing the Cellar earlier but i've never seen it done like that before." He looks back over at Harper and grins, "It did look fun."

Jakk is the only one that stops in the doorway and just stays there, not actually going onto the mopped floor. He peers down at the glistening area, ears flickering as if it is making him think about something. The young buck looks skinny from this position, arms curled around his middle. Ermf. No one gets any acknowledgement.

Harper smirks at Keiran for a long moment, then shrugs. Eh. ;p He glances then to Quinten and next to Jakk, at whom he blinks. He gives a half-hearted sweep of the mop, seeming to have lost his enthusiasm for the chore around so many. "What's up with him?" he jerks his head in a nod to Jakk.

Kaelin has retreated to a corner, trying to keep her cries of pain unnoticed by the others. Slumping down, she goes to inspect her swollen knee, sending glances over towards Harp and Quint occasionally. Hm hm.

Quinten picks something up off of the table it appears to be a scone, he moves over to Harper and speaks quietly for his ears only. "He's still upset over Flaxpaw and i think he just hit puberty too....his voice is beginning to go." He glances back to him and shrugs, "Figured it was best to leave him be for now."

Jakk's ears flicker about in a tired manner, before he glances up to Quinten and Harper. Oh. Yeah. Now they're whispering and gesturing. Very nice. The buck goes to walk out of the kitchen altogether, back into the Great Hall. Sheesh..

At mention of Flaxpaw, Harp's ears briefly twitch back. "Do you... know where she went, Quint?" A glance is sent Kaelin's way and his brow briefly furrows. What's going on with her, too? He looks back to Quinten.

Kaelin shakes her head, grumbling something under her breath as she hops up to her footpaws again, left leg held in the air. She sends a glance towards Jakk, ears dipping slightly as she hops over to the pair. Kae's paws slip behind her back, fingers curling about her wrist. "Harp, could I speak to you in a moment or so?" She asks, chewing on her lip.

Quinten shakes his head, "She left the Abbey with Ender...Ender Harper...but he was walking upright without his stick....and spouting nonsense about chains and prisons and beasts being free." He looks towards the stairs the door leading to the scullery and outside as Kaelin speaks up. "Come find me tomorrow ok Harper, you go speak to her." He waves a paw at the tall doe and then hurries to the Scullery door and through it out of sight.
