Oz can Use A Staff? And Some Chatting on Current Events(Redemtion of Marek TP)

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Thorn looks around the entry, there are now some puddles around from where there was a brief rain, she seems to debate on jumping in one but they are not too big as it only rained a little while.

Oz walks along with his staff, he stops near Thorn and speaks "Well its seems another beast is out here unless I am mistaken, greetings Thorn"

Thorn turns and nods, "Yes it’s me. I heard something interest and now I am very curious and want to see for myself, if I can?"

Oz raises an eyebrow, "See what for yourself, I would help but that could be a little hard at the time being."

Thorn speaks "I overheard you could use a staff and that your good at it and I wanna see.." She smiles "Please, nothing against watching right?"

Oz sighs, "And who told you.." He shakes his head, "Yes I can use a staff and no nothing is wrong with watching but I can't teach you, one being your 5 seasons not 6 seasons. You can watch me get some practice in I suppose, I do try and keep in shape by doing a little with the staff every other day."

Champion's Cottage: Guard Training Yard
*****************************************************************
This small fenced in yard has been set up for the use
of the Abbey Champion, his guards and designated trainees.
The fence is made from very thick wooden planks over 12 feet
tall so that no one outside can see in. The fence has also
been coated with a layer of spikes and grease near the top to
make it very difficult to climb over. The only way into or
out of this yard is through the large locked door into the
champion's cottage.
The yard itself is split into different sections for the
various activities the champion and the abbey guards perform
here:
There is a small covered area that contains practice weapons
on racks and the storage bins for armor.
There is also a locked room that contains the real weapons.
Both visitor weapons and guard weapons are stored here. The Sword
of Martin the Warrior is kept elsewhere.
There is also a small area set aside for the repair and
maintenance of weapons though there is no forge here for there
making weapons. But there is a whetstone for keeping blades
sharp and facilities for minor repairs.
The main part of the yard is a simple stone courtyard for
sparring. There are practice dummies for archery and sword and
quarterstaff drill. It isn't very big but it is enough for two
or three beasts to practice in at any one time.

Exits: [C]ottage

Oz walks into the training area, he made it his job to even know his way around this area as well, even if he doesn’t come here to often or even stay very long it’s still a part of the abbey so he learned his way all around, every corner and everything. He has his staff he twirls once in two paws and then one. “So I am curious, who said something and why?"

Thorn rocks back and forth on his foot paws and has her paws behind her back, "Umm, Brother Zork did and cause he told this story of some sort of flower and how it was bad, well the roots were bad not the flower part." She hmms "Then the roots were part of it huh, well the...yeah he mentioned"

Oz blinks, "Why did he mention that , what brought that up?"

Thorn sits down and frowns "Zee, you know the really really old badger, sent a note and mentioned Sister Zinnia was in the infirm at Ferravale, and that brought up the story."

Oz says, "Say..what? Why is she there and whats it got to do with that flower, it doesn’t even grow around here it grows way up north"

Thorn frowns "I don't, I didn’t see the letter Zork did."

Oz sighs and decides for now to not worry on it, he can ask later as he decides to just do a couple moves with the staff, simple ones. "I..will just ask later"

Thorn watches and frowns, not that he can see it but her tone of voice shows it, "Sorry, I was only listening a little to the story but Brother Leon is like there with her, I don’t know how he got there..walked? But he is there so she will probably be ok right?"

Oz nods “Yes, Leon is a very good healer and I trust him." He moves the staff around a little faster as he backs up a little more and moves it between his paws.

Thorn watches him for a little while and then ends up heading off "I forgot I needed to do something with dad!" Yeah she is so late.

An hour later

Oz was here earlier and had started to do a little staff training, but after talking to Thorn, listening to her leave he had asked a guard to get this letter and read it to him as he can’t see to read it himself. Then he asked the guard to leave, he politely asked and still waited. He then started spinning the staff around, moving it from paw to paw and then a little faster, spinning it once or twice before slamming it into one of the dummies in the area, it stays

DoraRose enters the training yard, hoping to practice some with her sword. She raises an eyebrow as she notes the badger's skill, especially since he's blind. She says nothing as she stays by the door, watching.

Oz may be blind but he knows where everything is in here and remembers details well from doing a lot of walking and feeling around, counting paw steps ect. Sort of like a map in his mind. He does a couple more moves with the staff and as he listens hearing the door squeak. He has been here an hour or so and is also tried now as he sighs and grips the staff and goes to slam it into the dummy again, only he misses by mere inches and gasps as he goes off balance and falls onto his side. He lets the staff stay on the ground as he sits up slowly and rubs his side.

DoraRose gasps as she sees the badger fall, and she rushes over to him. "Oz? Are you alright?" Kneeling beside him, she goes to lay a paw on his shoulder.

Oz nods "I am fine Dorarose" He stays seated, "A simple misjudgment of where the dummy was as my mind is elsewhere." He feels for his staff and finding it gets a grip on it and goes to slowly stands.

The door pushes open and Lee enters, armed solely with his sword. Spotting the badger, he frowns. "Oy, wot are ye doin' on the ground? Overexertin' yerself? One o' these days..." He sighs. "Afternoon, DoraRose, I 'ope yer fam'ly is well..."

DoraRose stands up with the badger. "Do you want to talk about it?" She waves to the Head Guard. "Good day. As far as I know, yes, they are well. I've never seen Lily behave so well, actually."

Oz leans on the staff, "I am fine Lee just..worried." He takes a deep breath, "Leon is in Ferravale, think some..bird or other took him there, and Zinna is there. I know she mentioned visiting Zee but...something happen." He frowns deeply," You guys will have to make sure Zork doesn’t try and go off to Ferravale, I am sure Zee will send a note if much changes..."

Lee hmms at DoraRose. "That is good. The Friar asked me personally ta watch Lily like an 'awk... 'E has much patience, ye know, but that little stunt she pulled tried that patience severely..." Glancing at Oz, he sighs. "Wot, more trouble? I already 'ave guards watchin' the road and woods, an' a strict curfew in place... Wot is Zinnia doin' in Ferravale?"

DoraRose looks at the badger and sighs. "Poor Leon. He hates heights. It must'vebeen awful for him to travel by bird." She smiles softly at the otter. "Well, I don't think she's planning on doing anything like that ever again."

Oz sighs, "She went to visit Zee, Zee lives in Ferravale. Why does he live there I have no clue but since things have calmed and nothing has gone on the past couple weeks or so she decided to go and invite him to the feast." He frowns. "The letter Zee sent was read to me, Zinnia is in a deep faint. She is in the infirm over at Ferravale...Marek and Scioto were also affected but not as much, and a mole. A guard is dead, a Ferravale guard. I don’t know much else just that Leon is there helping in the infirm. I do know ZORK is very worried and the stress can't be good for him."

Lee frowns, shaking his head. "An' just wot exactly *caused* the deep faint?"

Oz answers, "A poison, a fairly rare one. Most die from it if not treated right away, and some have...left over side effects."

DoraRose nods. "I was thinking the same thing. Do you think having Nana talk to him will keep Zork here?" She then listens to the badger's answer.

Oz shrugs, "Maybe she can talk to Zork, she can try anyways. He can’t really get too far and not to worry I don't plan on going out either, yes I am worried but, best I can do is try not to worry and stay here, wait on word"
