One Quiet Night At Moledeep

Characters: Aikuen, Kentar, Garnet, Will, Amy

Moledeep: Mole Hall

Its just a little bit after dark in Mole Hall. After a day of removing dirt from the recently created pond, both otters retreated to the kitchen for a quick dinner, leaving Will outside. After dinner, Fira went off to their own room in the back of the sleeping hall, to get some rest. Aik was just about to join her, when he decided to stay up and catch up on some of his reading lessons. He sits at the table with a book (Healing, for beginners), a blank scroll, and some charcoal sticks. He slowly reads and mouths the words, as he comes across them in the book. When he sees something he likes he writes it down in English, on the scroll for later reference. He doesn't hum while reading, or writing... it messes him up... So it is very quiet in Moledeep.

Maybe quiet now, but the door swings open and in comes a big, limping, figure. Wide as anything too. "Aikeun...Get some bandages and water! Quick!" the figure shouts. He sounds like Kentar. In fact, it is Kentar, carrying some beast done up in a black cloak to keep the cold away. He sets the other beast who was in his arms, on the table and pulls down his hood. He's got a fresh new scar on the side of his face, and it's not cleaned, so there is still blood there. And it's been about a week since he left too.

Aikuen was just about to write the ingredients on how to make a cold remedy, when he hears the voice. He looks to the figure and goes open mouthed. But years in service has taught him to recover quickly in these sort of situations. He yells, "Aye!" and jumps out of the chair, running toward the sleeping hall... and then the infirm. He runs back to the hall and deposits a healers kit, and a roll of bandages. And then he is off to the kitchen. He comes back quickly bearing a jug of cool water, and a kettle of hot water. He places his paws on the table, "Whats wrong!" he is looking for a diagnosis more than anything else.

Kentar winces and grunts in pain as he rests his weight on his bad leg as he adjusts to remove the cloak from...GARNET! "She's got a broken wrist, a long cut over her forehead and a stab wound to her side." he was about to move to to help before he toppled over. "Ugh...I'm no use...just help her..." he says, climbing into a chair, and grabbing his thigh.

Aikuen is not very surprised to see Garnet... Knew the old stoat would do it! He looks to them both. Kentar is obviously hurt more than Garnet... But if he tried to work on Kentar first, the stoat wouldn't hear of it. Work on Garnet first, then Kentar. Aikuen places his paws in the hot water, then dries them on the edge of the bandages, to help them rid of the dirt on his paws. Then the otter dumps the healing kit on the table and takes a vial, the sewing needle and thread, and begins to work on Garnets side. Sterilize with the vial of alcohol, then seal with the needle. While he works he asks, "Kentar... What the hell Happened?!"

Kentar takes a few deep breaths. "I found the fox. We talked for a bit on the road. He's not all that bad when he's not...you know...evil." he says, panting hard. "I followed him to his den. Got into a fight with his badger slave. And then fought the fox. He took her hostage and stabbed her...Fought him. Lost. Then ran with her." he pants out, coughing up a little blood. Yeah, he's much worse then her.

Aikuen stops to look up when Kentar said that the fox was 'not all that bad'... but then he is back to her side. Giving a quick surgical knot to the suture, he checks the other wounds on her... Nothing vital or serious. She will heal naturally. But the stoat coughing up blood, that is most serious! He walks over to him, and places a paw on his forehead, checking for a fever, "Mate... don't move too much... what's wrong with you... Please, for your life... tell me what's wrong"

Kentar wipes off his muzzle with a sleeve before looking up to the otter when he goes over. There's a small fever but nothing serious. "Lets see...got stabbed in the side..." he uncovers a wound on his side. "My thigh was slashed..." its not deep so it should heal without a limp. "Just uh..." he coughs a bit. "I'll be fine....What about her?" he asks.

Aikuen doesn't answers the stoat just yet. He gives a once over the stoat. Side must be sealed soon. He goes over to the table and picks up the used needle and vial, and begins to work on the stoats side. Hopefully the lung wasn't punctured... that would be bad...., "She will be right as rain in a few days... except for her wrist, that'll take a few weeks to heal properly, once its splinted... other then that she is fine... You on the other hand..." he grunts, "Just don't die..."

Kentar's lung wasn't punctured. And what they both don't really realize, is that the reason Kentar is coughing up blood, is because he's got a cut in the back of his throat from one of sharp back fangs that got knocked out, sliced the roof of the back of his throat. He grunts when his side is started to be worked on. "Cant you just burn it shut or something?" he asks. "And no, I wont die."

Aikuen pokes the stoat with the needle, "You better not... and I could burn it, but then you would have this huge black mark on your side... where skin and fur will never grow again... besides..." He pops off the knot, "I'm done with this..." and he goes to work on his leg wound.

Kentar Winces as he's poked. "Yeah...alright...good." he nods a bit and winces as his leg wound is worked on. He takes few deep breaths and then rubs his jaw. "I think that fox knocked out one of my back teeth." he mutters. "So..." he smiles at Garnet. "SHE'S ALIVE!" He almost jumps out of his chair.

Aikuen falls back from his kneeled position, when the stoat jumps up. He looks to the needle that dangling from the stoats leg, "Sit down! Your breaking the stitches!" he grumbles, "Yes she is alive... now sit down!" the stoats jaw can be looked at later.

Kentar yelps and sits back down. "Sorry..." he mutters. "I just...really thought she was dead...I only came back to take vengeance. But when I saw her alive, all I could think of was to run."

Aikuen nods as he re sits the stitches, "That's good you ran away... Or else you might be dead..." he grunts, "You did eh?...to take vengeance..." talk about it later... He finishes the suture, and stands up. He goes over to Garnet, and begin to cleans up her smaller wounds with a damp cloth. After that he begins to splint her paw. He still grumbles as he works.

Kentar nods a little and sits up, sighing. "Yes. Only for that reason." he says quietly before looking around. "How did Kluna take to my leaving without saying anything?"

Aikuen finishes her paw. She is all healed, as far as Aikuen is concerned. He takes the damp cloth, and begins to clean up Kentar, a little more forcefully then he normally would, "Haven't seen Kluna since you left... Mostly because he is deftly afraid of me and Fira... But I did hear a bit of sobbing from the dibbuns hole... And I don't think it was Racky..." he grunts again.

Kentar nods a little and then winces, the stoat frowning. "Not so rough, will you?" he mutters before sighing. "I had to go. I had to. I'm sorry for just leaving him. And you guy's Aikuen. I am..." he sighs. "Wonder if he hates me..."

Aikuen could have poked him forcefully... but decides against it. He takes away the cloth and checks the wounds again. They all have sealed naturally. Now for the stoats tooth "Open your mouth... let me see..." Push all that other stuff behind him for now...

Kentar sighs and looks away for a moment before opening his muzzle all the way. There's a somewhat big cut at the back, and his -very- back fang isn't actually gone. Its chipped. And the chip, actually cut him.

Aikuen looks at his tooth, then his throat. He holds out the vial, "Drink a little, then gargle the rest... You have a chipped fang, and a cut in the back..." He goes to sit down, and rubs his eyes, "After you have done that... you have been officially healed by me..." he grunts again.

Kentar takes it and drinks a bit before gargling and spitting out the rest of it somewhere. "Aikuen..." he sighs and holds out the vial. "I'm sorry. I really am sorry."

Will had heard Kentar's shout and poked his head out from the study. "You were right!" A stick hits him from behind, "Ow!"

Aikuen takes the vial and places it near the dirty needle to be fixed up later. He waves a paw in the air, "Its... Its alright...but you lied to us... said you weren't going to fight him... just gonna find Garnet. And you didn't tell us when you left... And you didn't tell Kluna..." He sighs and closes his eyes, "But you don't have to apologize to me... I understand why... you wanted to kill him... Dont know about the others..." He grunts again, as he hears Will.

Kentar doesn't hear Will. "I lied...yes...I'm sorry." he sighs and buries his face in his paws. "I just...didn't feel the will to live anymore after I thought she died. So when I found the fox, all I could do was try and kill him. But when we fought, it was to protect her. Nothing more." he says quietly, tears streaming down his eye. "I just...I just wanted him dead so badly for what he did." The stoat sits back and looks around. "I hope Kluna doesn't hate me." he rubs his eye.

Will's head disappears back into the study as he talks to Amy, sounding rather peeved, "Ok, you were /right/ I was /wrong/. ..... Happy now?!"

The sound of a stick hitting a ratling can be heard once more from the study, the talking from the study has stopped.

Aikuen nods, "You don't have to explain it too me... That fox has taken someone from me also... and he almost took two more friends... AGAIN!" He stands up and begins to collect his supplies, "Kluna... I don't know much about him, to know... he might be..." he shrugs and begins to walk off toward the sleeping hall, "I'm going to put the supplies away, then I'm off to bed for the night... Kentar, when your ready to... take Garnet to the Infirm... And good night... Will, and Amy... Good night also..." he grumbles some more as he continues on. He is too tired... mentally and physically... to handle this stuff anymore.

Kentar sighs and nods, giving a nod to the otter. "Good night Aikuen." he says before looking to the study. "Amy...you really need to stop hitting him." he calls out before yawning himself.

Amethyst says, "It's his own fault for eavesdropping. And he doesn't have a good excuse for it like I do. Anyway I don't hit him that hard ... usually. Nice to hear that I /was/ right and you did manage to get back alive and with your Garnet as well. Doubted you'd have come back without her and since I knew you'd come back it stood to reason that you both would come back eventually. Eventually came a lot sooner than I'd thought but it's all for the best I suppose. When you're well again you can be the first to try out the pond, once Aik and Will finish it of course." She yawns some herself, it's catching. "... My pillow's asleep," she chuckles and yawns again, "Probably should join him .... I'm glad you're back for what it's worth and when the others are awake they'll be glad too."

Kentar looks down and then back towards the study. "It was a week. You'd best be glad it wasn't longer. Or shorter." he nods with a bit of a sigh. "I think sleep is a good idea." The stoat stands and limps towards Garnet. He picks her up and limps towards the sleeping hall and then the infirmary. "Good night you too." he calls back out before vanishing. He lays Garnet on a bed then takes the one next to her's. "Glad to be back." he then yawns and drifts off.
