More News, Lee is awake and..Quickarrow got away!!(Redemption Of Marek TP)

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

This first part was sent to me and has Quickarrow and Bandit spoofing the otters and snake, none of these are my characters this just was sent to me to explain the message Scioto gets later in the log and happen in the woods somewhere between Ferravale and Redwall, maybe near the river==

Oscar hated the rain. Which in retro spec was odd for an otter. He and his companion sit in the comfort of a small tent while the rain pours heavily around them. Well, the term tent is generous here. IT's more of a tarp spread between a pair of trees with a small camp fire under it to keep them warm.

Oscar himself a simple tunic with a short sword strapped to his side. His fellow otter wears a patch work vest and keeps it open to expose his pot belly. The younger, heavier set beast is currently playing on a small flute.

Clutching at his ears Oscar tries to drown out the off tone flute and growls, "I take it back. You should have taken up the accordion instead."

"Oh quite you." Rosco the fat otter comments back. "They say music calms the savage beast, what do you think?" The otter kicks at the leg of the ferret they are escorting.

QuickArrow narrows his eyes, the otters had made sure to look for all visible weapons, or so they thought, he still has claws, long and sharp that have been slowly cutting free the ropes, he then smirks, "Foolish otters, all woodlanders are foolish did you know that?"

Oscar gestures to the ferret. "See? Even the cold blooded ferret doesn't like that thing." Rosco rolls his eyes, "Obviously I am not surrounded by music lovers." Shaking his head he says again, "You know, I think I liked him better when he was gagged."

"So gag him." Oscar says simply to which the other otter replies, "And quit playing such a lovely tune for me ol bucko's?" Rolling his eyes Oscar says again, "Poor beast will probably have gone mad by the time we get to Ferrevale if you keep playing on that flute...

QuickArrow smirks as he gets his paws free; now all he has to do is get one of those weapons from the otters.

Little did the guards know of their prisoners dreadful plans. The two continued to chat for several moments yet until one suggested that the beans roasting over the fire might be ready for eating. Setting down his flute Rosco moves closer to the fire, taking a small bowl with him from his back pack. He pours a bowl for Oscar and then takes the rest in the pan for himself. They give none to the ferret.

While eating his meal the overweight otter continued to talk, "Don't worry my fine ferret friend. I'm sure you'll get a meal in Ferrevale. Possibly a last meal."

"Don't taunt the prisoner Rosco."

"Awww, but why not."

"Because you're horrible at it." Oscar chuckled.

QuickArrow fakes a frown, "Well aren’t you both mean, you know what you two just simply need a good rest, a nap does wonders for a beast." He stands as they look to one another arguing and smirks as he looks around and smiles finding the foolish otters left a longsword by the tree, he picks it up slowly and goes to make a quick slice at the otter Rosco!

Mouth full of beans Oscar tries to warn his friend of the impending danger. Rosco has a confused look at first but then his eyes widen as realization dawn on him. Leaping to his feet to draw his sword he is, sadly a fraction of a second two late.

There is the sickening sound of blade meeting flesh and the otter gasps in pain. The otter slumps forward, clutching at the deep wound to his fat belly. He rolls onto his side, still alive, still in shock.

"Rosco!" Oscar's blade appears in paw in one fluid motion. The bowl of beans falling to his side and splashing across his pants, the otter lunges forward, slashing and hacking at the ferret.

QuickArrow chuckles loudly a cold chuckle as it would seem he is just as insane as his master is, "Seems otters will have their last meal!" He slices with the weapon he has in his paw towards the otter's neck and grins, his eyes full of battle light. He is quick on his footpaws as he is a trained assassin after all.

There is another sickening SLPORT as the blade connects. The otter's body stands ridged for a brief moment before falling limp. "Oscar?" Rosco's eyes widen in fear as his companion falls to the ground. Clutching at his stomach Rosco begins to crawl away from the ferret. He gets to his feet and takes a painful step forward only to stop as lightning strikes.

For only the smallest of moments the forest around them is highlighted in light along with it the monster that has been slowly creeping up to the camp and its fire. Rain slides off of the beasts scales as it seems to tower above the young otter. It is quite obviously a snake. A large one, with weapons sticking out of its back. Broken spears, bent swords, the legacy of those who failed to slay the beast.

The otter begins to scream and the snake looks down with its one 'good' eye. Which also appears to be blind.

Darkness returns again to the woods and the otter's frantic screams come to a short and brutal end.

QuickArrow prepares to get ready to end the Rosco's life when he sees the large snake and his own eyes widen as he just about drops his sword, he backs up against a tree and shivers a little. He quickly grabs any weapons in the campsite, all the while looking around for that large snake. He finds a longbow, the blade he has and a couple daggers. He starts to back out of the camp carefully.

“Your foot sstepss are light, but your sscent betrayss you...ferret." Comes a deep voice from the shadows. Lightning strikes again to reveal that poor Rosco is lost in the deadly embrace of the snakes scales as it wraps around him, slowly squeezing the life from him. "But, it sSSSssseemss that you have kindly granted me a wonderfull meal..." Rosco whimpers as the snake tightens his grip. "Agelesss will grant you your life thisss day in return..."

QuickArrow tries not to shake in fear and gulps as he nods "T..T..Thank you..s..sir" He says and does the smart thing and flees the area quickly and swiftly, he also does one more smart thing and that’s climb the nearest tree!

The snake hears the ferret dash off and quickly looses his paw tracks in the rain. Ageless breaths a sigh of relief. He doubts he could catch up to him even if he wanted too. He was starting to feel his age, especially in such cold rain. "Now...where were we?" The snake smiles at Rosco. The otter screams long after the snake begins to eat him, even after Ageless curls up around the fire to sleep...

QuickArrow is long gone and just about to Ferravale right now, he pants and grins as he heads west down the path "I come for you...both you Marek and Scioto, chieftain of Ferravale, let us seen how many of his 9 lives he has left!"

--- Meanwhile in Ferravale---

FV:Infirm:Main Room

This is the infirm. The far walls are lined with simple cots with clean sheets and pillows. The sheets and pillows are mainly white and blue. The room is keep clean and well sweeped. Cabnets are agaist one wall full of healing supplies and herbs, each marked in its own jar. A examineing table is seen and a wash basin.

With:

Scioto walks into the infirm and speaks with a healer as he nods "That’s good...they needed to get back, though would request some extra help in the infirm, just in case and if needed their healer coming back here."

Lee is propped up on a cot, napping lightly. Hearing voices he opens an eye, glancing their direction. "Oy, Scioto."

Scioto walks over and nods to the otter, "Seems you almost died, and you’re still going to need time to recover. I have a couple healers keeping an eye on you; sadly my Master Healer is missing right now."

Lee frowns with a groan. "Missin'? Funny, our 'Ealer Leon were missin', too." He scowls. "Almost died? Pah. Just a little scratch an' some blood loss, nothin' I ain't been through before. Lissen, though, I can't stay 'ere long, at any rate, somebeast gotta get Lacota back ta the Abbey, an' I don't exactly think the squirrel will accept an escort from Marek, or yer guard Bandit. Bang up fellow ye got there, I might add."

Scioto folds his arms over his chest, "From what I heard, you be dead if it wasn’t for Marek saving you and tending to your wounds. He carried you back here and made sure two squirrels, one being your friar, got back here. And I have guards that can escort them back to the abbey and may have already by now or least on their way there.I..didn’t trust Marek at first when he came back but now I do trust him, he has helped around the village, he has not harmed any beast here and does a good job as Tavern owner."

Lee hmms. "That may be satisfactory, but still... I don't trust the Road anymore." He sighs. "Scioto, ye need ta post patrols near the bridge. I'll do the same near Redwall once I get back there. That mouse fellow is dangerously insane." He frowns. "As for Marek savin' me or wotever, that is between me an' himself. I'll need to speak to 'im soon, if ye should see 'im. Somebeast needs ta deliver a message ta Abbot Benar on me behalf, but Marek cannot do so. Benar respectfully requested Marek not to reenter the Abbey from now on."

Scioto nods "So I heard, I think Zaram went to inform the abbey of what happen, and Marek is not to enter your abbey without abbot Benar's permission and only his as he was very strict on that. Marek had been in the abbey to visit Lorimis grave, he mentioned he spoke with Benar in the graveyard and he was glad to have been escorted out peacefully by the abbot"

Lee hmms, nodding. "Not sure I know who Zaram is, though. But it is good that Benar knows the current situation."

Scioto answers "He is a mole and right now my head recorder in Ferravale. He also knows some healing as well as a good deal of history of the area and what he doesn’t know he learns and writes down."

Lee says, "I see. Well, if ye trust 'im, that be good enough for me."

Scioto nods "He is to be trusted, I am unsure how long you will be here as you do need to recover. There is one other issue that happen in the tavern I am not pleased with, bit since he is not an abbey beast, that I know of, maybe I will let him go with a waning first. A mouse, I know not his name, punched out my head guard and this mouse was only referred to as half rat by a weasel I asked"

Lee sighs heavily, and shakes his head. "Emyuil. DoraRose' brother."

Scioto is quiet before he speaks, "As I said he will be given a warning, next time I am sorry to say he will be in a cell."

Lee shrugs. "Do as ye will with 'im."

Scioto arches an eyebrow, "You do not care if he ends up in a cell? Trust me he is close to doing so. Yes the rules here are a lot different than the abbey, but it doesn’t mean there are no rules at all"

Lee sighs. "Emyuil is a warrior, like meself, but 'e lacks discipline. 'E needs ta learn that, an' if it takes bein' locked up in yer cell, then so be it."

Marek enters the infirm about this time. He is dressed in some light armor and his crossbow and sword is with him. He looks for a couple moments for some basic herbs and a few bandages to put into a knapsack he has, he doesn't pay attention to the others in the room but he knows they are there.

Scioto hmms, "I suppose we will see then." He glances at Marek and raises an eyebrow at him as he watches him and then speaks, "And where are you going? Clearly it is somewhere."

Lee peers at Marek, frowning. "If yer thinkin' o' goin' after that mouse an' 'is gang alone, then yer crazy, Marek. Yer many things, but I've never pegged ye as crazy before. T'is a fool's errand."

Marek answers without turning around "I am going to look for Irinevok, or least find clues. He has Reseda and you know this and if you don't now you do. It is not like many beasts would help me, most still hate me"

Scioto listens and after a pause to think on it he answers, "I can let you take maybe 3 of my guards with you but that’s all as some need to stay here and I had 4 help some other beast back to Redwall. It may be best to stay here for now."

Lee shakes his head. "Yer not thinkin' straight, Marek. Ye know wot yer plannin' is suicide, pure an' simple."

Marek glares but then takes a deep breath, "Then what would you suggest, he is wounded and right now be the perfect time to strike"

Scioto says, "Then if he is wounded he most likely isn’t going to do anything right now or least for a few days, and isn’t his main beast captive somewhere. Least I was sent a message they were being sent here and they will be locked in a cell."

Marek says, "Not sure that’s wise to have any of Irinevok's beasts here, weather in a cell or not"

Lee sighs. "Marek, whether 'e be injured, or not, goin' in alone is suicidal. Ye need back up."

Scioto says, "Lee is correct. In fact..." He is stopped from speaking by a couple of his guards who whisper something to the chieftain who stares at them and then narrows his good eye "What do you mean they never brought the ferret here? What do you mean he got away?" The guard whispers something else and Scioto frowns."

Marek folds his arms over his chest "In fact what?" He watches the guards carefully when they come in and picks up bits and pieces here and there, "Ferret? As in Quickarrow?"

Lee asks, "Oy, wot ferret? I be rather out o' the loop, ye know. Up till recently, Redwall 'ad managed ta not get involved in this mess."

Scioto sighs "It would appear the ferret Quickarrow was being brought here by a couple camp willow otters...and he is nowhere to be seen and the two otters are dead"

Marek shakes his head "Not a good thing, that’s the same ferret that almost killed you and would have if you didn’t have that journal in your cloak."

Lee frowns. "Now Camp Willow is involved, too?"

Marek says, "A couple of their otters were at the river one day and took the ferret archer captive, seems the abbey doesn’t want captives so sent him here and it appears they didn’t make it here so I am unsure if they are involved or not."

Scioto shakes his head “Well looks like it’s time to double the guards at the gate then and as I was about to say earlier, you’re not going anywhere Marek, in fact you’re going to stay in Ferravale and help out in case Quickarrow does get into the village."

Lee says, "Wonderful, so a dangerous beast escaped an' is loose in Mossflower again."

Marek starts to protest on how dare Scioto make him stay but he takes a deep breath hand holds back the urge to yell, "Fine.." He says in a barely calm voice, "But only to help fight Quickarrow, but Irinevok needs found and soon before he does something besides try to capture healers, it’s hard to say what else he has in mind and being injured does slow him down but not forever"

Scioto keeps a close eye on Marek and nods ;"Thank you on listening and staying in the village, and we will find Reseda, do not worry."

Lee asks, "Oy, who is Reseda?"

Marek nods slowly, "She is..." He closes his eyes "The Master healer here and..a friend." He sounds worried about her, very in fact. He sits down in a chair and frowns going quiet now.

Scioto walks over and lays a paw on Marek’s shoulder "I will help find her, we will get her back here and maybe Redwall will help as well, if nothing else due to the fact she is the Master healer of Ferravale" He looks to them "Excuse me I need to have a meeting with my guards and will be in my office" He heads out.
