Long talks and Bar fights
The dingy looking hare walks through the streets, paws in his pockets. It was an early morning for him, and so far he didn't learn much. Right now, he was on his way back to Taye with his report.
Audri has managed to get her guards to let her outside, looking at the little shops with a curious gaze. Finding one with maps, the maid begins to haggle with the shop keep, while her guards watch the streets.
The hare catches sight of her, and gives /one/ of her guards a foul look. Moving past that, he walks over to where she was standing to look at a few things the same vendor was selling. Brenden waits for a few moments, wanting to see if his disguise was good enough to fool her.
Audri looks to the newcomer, head tilting to the side curiously. Seriously? Shaking her head, she hands the keep some coinage in exchange for a couple scrolls, murmuring a thanks. She now turns her attention to Brenden, frowning. "Ya need to hide your scent." That said, she motions towards her guards who follow her down the secret.
Brenden moves to follow after her and keeps his voice low, "I did. Earlier this morning. Guess it wore off." He shrugs, "Have you seen the one in charge?" He refuses to mention any names while he's playing at this. Good thing he hasn't attracted any notice so far.
"If ya mean who I think ya do, I've no idea 'n I could care less." Is her quick reply, keeping her eyes searching the street. "Ya need to use somethin' strongah. Perhaps somethin' dead like."
Brenden thinks for a moment, keeping his voice low, "I would like tah apologize fah yesterday. This has been a very bad time fah me." He looks over at her for a moment, "But, that's no real excuse."
"Don't worry about it. 'm not mad at ya." Audri murmurs, looking over to him. "'m mad at the one who I thought would have undastood my feelins'."
Brenden nods and looks away to look at the ones in the street, "I don't pretend tah know, but, I like tah think that I 'ave an idea." He looks back at her, "I'd like tah ask that yah considah what we's goin through as well...though."
Audri sighs, stopping her trek to turn to face him full on. "I know how important is. Its what the patrol was meant to due. They serve the helpless, putting their lives over others. I've grown up with it. Always watching as my dad, my best friends go off to fight.." She pauses, closing her eyes to hide her tears. "But what you 'n the others don't understand is my point. I have put my dad through so much..getting kidnapped who knows how much. But he /always/ found me. Even if it took a season, he somehow found me 'n brought me home. 'n now when he needs his daughter 'n his troops, they aren't there. They've given up to the fact that he's probably fish bait." Blinking she turns back around, beginning to move again. "But if he was truly dead, I would know it. 'n for whatevah reason, I know he's out there 'n I'll bloody find him even if it means having to hurt the one I love most."
Brenden stops when she does, listens, then keeps walking. "I don't say this tah many, but I look up tah the majah a great deal. 'E's taught me a lot since I got tah 'is patrol. 'E's always been unnerstandin uh 'ow I feel and 'e tries tah consider wheah I'm comin from when I do sommat dumb. I want to find 'im. I really do." He falls silent for a moment before continuing, "But, we 'ave tah look at who we 'ave a bettah chance uh savin...I'm sorry, I just wished yah'd unnerstan."
Audri shakes her head, arms wrapping around her chest. "I don't need the whole patrol. I just.." She sighs once more, continuing on quietly. After a moment, she glances back. "I just wish he'd let me do this. 'm not a kid anymore."
Brenden nods, listening quietly. When she falls quiet he speaks up again, "'E's protective of yah. I guess 'e feels like 'e 'as tah be since all of this 'as 'appened. I'd be tha same way if I was in 'is situation."
Audri shrugs, walking ahead. "I know, but..oh nevermind. Nothin' I say is gonna change yer mind."
Brenden stops and reaches a paw out to her shoulder to stop her, "Listen, I know that this is difficult and yah feel like everyone is against yah...but if yah don't evah believe me about anythin, believe me on this. The majah is in mah mind, and I do 'ope that he's fine. But..." Then he shakes his head and pulls his paw back, "Nevah mind. Yah right. Nothin eithah of us can say will make tha othah feel any bettah."
That tiny gesture draws a slight smile to Audri's lips, the maid nodding. Seems he's got a notch above Taye. "Thanks."
Brenden looks at her for a moment longer, then turns and starts to walk again, looking around at the various 'vermin' that are around them. He mutters, "'Ate these bloody beasts..."
Audri nods, glancing back at the two guards. "Aye, but some aren't all that bad."
Later that day….
"Oi! Anothah ale for me 'n the crew, aye?" Is yelled from the center of the tavern as a group of sailors starts another round of cards. Towards the back of the tavern rests Audri and her two body guards, the squirrel staring over old maps with a frown. "Don't see why we can't go out on the docks. Nothin' exciting goin' on in here."
Nothing exciting... 'til Taye arrives! He's the life of the party, clearly. Or, well. He's. Something! He pulls off his uniform jacket and heads for the pair of hares and Audri. He slides into the booth they fill, next to Audri. "'Ey," he greets. Leans over and kisses her cheek. "How's it goin'?" he asks while tossing his jacket on the table in front of him.
Audri's gaze has moved to the group towards the center, ears perking as two rats start to argue over a hand of cards. She hms as Taye comes over, frowning at the kiss. "Fine." Is her quick reply, scooting back from him. Yes, she's still mad at you.
Taye knows your still mad at him! "Good," he replies. And looks over the maps she's looking at. "What're you lookin' at?"
"Charting maps. Needed to see how many ports there are." Audri sighs, rolling up her maps to place on the table. "Found any leads yet about the missing abbey beasts?"
"I coulda told you that," Taye says with a shake of is head. "And no. Nothin' yet."
"Yea, well I really don't want to talk to ya about it." Audri shoots back, crossing her arms over her chest. Ash, one of her assigned guards, offers Taye a shrug. "She's been like this all mornin'."
All morning? Try always. Taye nods to Ash. "Uh huh." He leans back in his seat.
'
"Oh yea, well Ah sed ye stacked de deck!" "Heh. Yer just sore ye lost." Well, seems that argument is getting more heated as the first rat throws a punch towards the other at the cheers of their shipmates. Audri's ears perk, sitting up to look towards the group. This could prove fruitful.
Taye's ears twitch. He glances towards the fighting searats. Snorts. "Idiots," he mutters. At least he's between Audri and them. Keep her in check!
"Wonder if all sailors are like that." Audri replies, leaning forward a smidgeon. The larger of the two rats is throwing punch after punch towards Ace, chuckling under breath. "Did ye learn how to fight bucko?" "Nah, nevah had to as Ah've got help." His help being an orange tom who steps up behind the rat to send him flying towards the hares.
Ugh. Taye's nose wrinkles in distaste and he jumps up, "catching" the rat as he flies their way. He stumbles back into the table, then goes to push the rat off. "Watch it," he snaps.
Aha. Just what she needed. Audri is quick to zip under the table, and towards the melee of sailors hoping to get lost. Ace and his tom are warding off the other beasts, crashing chairs over their heads while a few more unlucky beasts get tossed about.
Oh for the love of... Taye sees Audri's little disappearing act. He pushes after through the crowd, throwing the occasional - but necessary - punch. "Audri get /back/ here!" Her bodyguards are so fired. He is silently bemoaning this fact when a chair crashes over his back. He makes a sound of pained surprise and goes down. So much for chasing after Audri.
Audri's paw is on the door, getting ready to skip out when she hears Taye's pained scream. Biting her lip, she turns around to assess the situation. "'m sorry Taye." Is mumbled quietly before she opens the door to slip out.
Well if he wasn't in it before, he is now. Taye is too busy fighting to chase after Aud. So... she escapes! He is gonna be so pissed.
Ace catches the hare who's joined the brawl, snickering under his breath. Nodding to the tom, the rat goes to send a punch to Taye's middle as the tom comes up with another chair.
See, that's not awesome. The punch sinks into Taye's middle and he doubles with a groan. He doesn't notice the tom coming up with the chair. The hell of his boot comes down on the rat's footpaw. Rrrghfr!
Ace yargs with the boot, but here comes his backup. XD Poor Taye. The chair is crashed over Taye's head, an amused smirk crossing Darrin's features. "Seems this 'un could come in handy aye?" Ace nods, hopping on his good footpaw. "Cap'n like him a'right."
Hey, wow, another chair. Taye goes limp, crumbling to the floor of the tavern. He groans. That was kind of unpleasant!
A hare comes walking into the tavern, his clothing looking worn with a few colorful patches sewn on in a few places and a pair of well worn boots on his feet. His fur looks a little grimy, like he's been working down at the docks. He wears a saber on each hip with a few throwing knives in each of his boots. He stops when he sees the scuffle and grins, "All right...a tussle!" Then, with a reckless abandon, the new hare runs and dives at one hopping on one foot. Shouldn't leave yourself off balance mate.
Darrin moves to hoist Taye over his shoulder, turning around just in time to see this new hare. "Oi! Watch yerself!" Comes to late as Ace gets tackled to the ground, his paw moving to the dagger in his belt.
Taye is a sack of potatoes. He's not quite unconscious, but he's dazed. He hangs there over the tom's shoulder. How undignified.
The new hare laughs and starts to punch at Ace's face, pausing to take some time and aim a punch at the beast’s throat. He glances over his shoulder at the one holding Taye, with a wild eyed grin. This was going to be a fun fight for Brenden, the undercover hare.
Ace ergs, paw still gripping the dagger as he's hit with punch after punch, sending a footpaw toward his middle. Darrin growls at the unknown hare, shifting Taye on his shoulder before sending a booted kick to the hare.
Meanwhile, Taye is starting to rouse. He stirs on Darrin's shoulder. "Nnn?"
Good thing the new hare was looking at the one holding Taye, because he saw that boot coming. The other one on the other hand, goes unseen as it hits him in the gut. With an oof and a grunt, Brenden gets knocked to the side, glad that he didn't get the wind knocked from him. He reaches out to grab at the boot of Darrin to pull him off balance and hopefully to the ground with him.
Darrin looks to the Taye with a smirk, sending a punch towards his jaw. No waking for you. Being somewhat more steady on his feet than his compatriot, Darrin hops with the boot tug, looking for something to throw at the pesky hare. Luckily, the groggy Ace sends kick towards Brenden while he fumbles with his blade.
The punch slugs across Taye's jaw. There's a sickening crunch. Maybe a tooth. He sags again. Bloody... heck. He's going to be /so/ angry.
Brenden catches the second kick in the ribs and another grunt is heard, but he's determined. He kicks out with his feet to try and sweep the tom from his feet. Can't stand without any feet on the ground wot! With any luck, the beast would end up doing the splits and tear something, but he'd be happy with them all on the ground.
Taye won't be happy. Mostly just unconscious, really. Sigh.
From outside, a sizable rock comes through the window aimed towards the tom's head. Unfortunately, he hits his shoulder which causes it to bounce off Taye's ear. But its enough of a distraction to bring Darrin to the ground. "Buggah." Is growled as Taye's limp form is tossed to the side before a punch is sent to the meddling hare.
And to the ground Taye rolls! through some broken glass, of course. Poor bloke. Worst luck. He sprawls out, limbs all akimbo.
And that meddling hare catches the punch with the hollow of his cheek. It sounds like it hurts more than it really does, even though there is blood on his lips and it'll swell to look nice. He starts laughing and gets his feet under him to dive at the tom, more or less forgetting about the other one for the time being. Those hits to the head must have done /some/ damage for him to be so useless right now.
Ace is zonked out for the moment, leaving all the fighting to Darrin. The tom braces himself for the dive, planning on rolling with the buck to hopefully pin him in place to get in a few more punches.
And Brenden started to get cocky, so he ends up on his back with the tom on top of him. He brings his arms up to shield his face, his grin fading only slightly, getting ready and waiting for the right moment to try a reversal. Something seemed to possess this hare as he fought with the vermin. He imagined that these were the ones that took his Darcy away, that gave him the joy in each bit of pain he could cause them.
Darrin only sends a few punches to the hare's face the aiming for the hare's left side while his other paw moves to claw the hare's arms. "Bloody stupid.."
Apparently you can't keep this kid down! With a mumbled groan, Taye has begun to stir again! He pushes feebly up with his paws.
The hare starts to laugh, thanking his training. He shifts his feet, moving one to the outside of the beasts on top. He reaches up with his left paw to grab at the toms clothing to pull him towards him, while thrusting up with his hips to send them both off balance and reverse the situation to put himself on top.
Ack! Darrin hisses as he's rolled the opposite way, eyes slanting in annoyance. His knees move out, hoping to catch some part of the buck's body.
Taye manages his paws and his knees, groaning at the pounding in his head. He sluggishly lifts his head, squinting at the scene before him. Nngh?
The strange buck continues to laugh when he finds himself with the toms legs wrapped around his hips. Perfect. He plays like he's going to punch at the toms face, then strikes at the cats gut and groin. Hey, all's fair in a brawl, and Bren was planning on walking away from this one.
Well, that was unexpected. Darrin groans as the punch lands right betwixt his legs, feebly trying to curl up. "Ya win, ya bloody rabbit."
Well, it looks like Taye has no need to be jumping up. The hare - Bren - seems to have it under control. He touches a paw to the back of his head and grimaces.
The...ehem.../hare/ gives one last laugh and punches the tom in the gut again (for the rabbit comment) before getting to his feet to look around. He had blood dripping out of his mouth from the punch earlier, getting on his dingy work clothes. A paw goes to one of his sabers and he draws it quickly, moving to put the point at the tom's throat, "Move and yah dead. If yah friend moves, yah dead. If /anyone/, moves towahds me right now...yah dead. Nod if yah unnerstan."
Darrin gives a nod of understanding, remaining in his fetal position. As for his friend, he's still knocked out cold.
Hey. It's kind of tempting to Taye to move towards the pair, right now. But that's probably not who the other was referring to. Ah well.
"Now listen yah bloody cowahd, it took two uh yah tah beat up onna 'nothah 'are. Now, yah both bloody on tha ground," the hare starts, then he speaks to Taye, "Yah allight matey?"
Darrin just gives another nod. Seems those rumors of hares are true.
Taye nods, silently. He brings his paw around, spying the spots of blood. Ah well. He's kind of used to that, by now. "... Yeah. Fine," he mutters. "Bloody git." That's for the tom.
The hare still has a grin on his face, despite the tone of hate in his voice, "Now. What were yah gonna do wit' me bucko 'heah?"
"The same thing that me friends are gonna do to that dame o' his." Darrin hisses with a snicker. He might have been beat up by a hare, but that's not going to ruin his fun. From outside, a sudden screeching is heard followed by the sounds of running footsteps.
