RW Abbey: Great Hall

The Great Hall of Redwall Abbey. Countless paw falls have echoed from these stones, and untold numbers of feasts and merry gatherings have been held here. A table, not nearly so grand or large as its predecessors, but quite functional for mealtimes, rests near the center of the hall. Chairs exist here aplenty, and they are all of a matching set. High above, the stain glass windows give the Great Hall a beautiful appearance. The glasswork is exceptionally done, crafted by a skilled artist. The floor is clean and swept. A fire is kept burning in the fireplace at almost all times of the day and night, and there are several more comfortable chairs and cushions set up here, of varying sizes. One looks large enough to easily accommodate a badger.

The Tapestry hangs proud and tall, and while the rest of Redwall may still bear the scars of natural disaster, this most famous of Redwall's relics remains unharmed by beast, time, or the elements. The figure of Martin the Warrior seems to be watching over his own with an unchanging, kindly gaze.

You can make out nothing through the large windows except the faintest glimmer of stars above the smudge of dark that is the Abbey's walls. Soft blue moonlight is trickling down from the windows above.

a message (board) with notes tacked to it

Safana walks into great hall and looks around to see who is in the room.

Timothy is currently sitting by the fire, facing the entrances to the hall waving goodbye to Leon with one paw while the other hand is placed on the shield next to him, claws clicking on its steel rim.

Safana watches one mouse leave and one stay,"Hello there sir..why the shield?"

Timothy clicks them on his shield again as he turns to face the cat from across the fire. "It's like the acorns on the robes of an Abbey beast Safana, if I'm remembering correctly. I met you in the infirmary."

Safana nods "Yes you did my paw was hurt, it’s healing now, I will be around a few days in fact then need to visit a friend"

Timothy nods. "Oh I remember, was a dibbun who it you out of spite." Smirking. "So why the sudden change from wanting to get out of here to wanting to stay a few days?"

Safana looks and is silent at first "I was in a grumpy mood that day, besides I heard a dibbun was missing and wish to help locate the child, I have helped the abbey before and am friend"

Timothy smiles, nodding as he rolls the shield along the floor a bit. "Well, good luck with finding her. I know I'll be wandering about the woods trying to find some sign of her. I actually only heard that Lee's adopted daughter was missing."

Safana says, "Yes a lost dibbun is not good"

Timothy nods reaching up to his muzzle and pulling his nose. "I agree..."

Safana asks, "So any clues on who has the dibbun or ideas?"

Timothy shakes his head. "If Nightfur were in Mossflower then she wouldn't be missing at all; but we have no idea if the slaving scum is here or not. I'm hoping he decided to start anew. He will not be escaping death on his doorstep a second time. I personally have no clues; only the general knowledge."

The doors to the great hall open wide as a brown furred vulpine strolls inside, shutting the doors behind him. Despite the layers of flesh that have built up around his chest flank and gut Bandit shivers from the cold.

Safana says, "One never knows, least there is no other troubles going on, that’s good"

Timothy hums in thought, stroking his chin as he settles down in his chair. His eyes turn towards the doors as they open to reveal Bandit and hi chin stroking hand to wave at the fox. "Hello Bandit."

Safana looks at the fox and is silent

With a broad smile from ear to ear Bandit waves back to Tim. "Tim! How’s it goin? I havn't seen you in...in...in forever!" The fox catches sight of the cat and gulps, hoping she is still not mad at him for stepping on her tail. He nods hello as he walks closer to them both.

Timothy smirks, letting his hand fall back to his side. "It's only been a week or three you know. that isn't forever Bandit." The mouse chuckles. "I'm doing fine, thank you for asking. How are you?"

Safana watches the fox, she tries to hide the hate for him and makes a smile "Hello there fox, how are you today?"

Bandit responds with a happy, "Not too bad. Not too bad. The red fur dye finely wore off which is ok." The fox shrugs, "Never worked anyway. Not much has been happenin that you probably don’t already know about. Killed some slaver ferret, saved Sunwing after she was shot. You know the usual stuff." Sadly, the fox thinks, that is usual.

Timothy nods, a smile on his face. "Yes, I've been informed of the goings on last night."

Safana says, "I know of some..a missing dibbun to be found"

Bandit takes a seat and swivels it backwards before sitting down. "If only we knew where to look..." The fox shakes his head sadly.

Safana nods "I know last night they spoke of some cat named Aster, seen her south of the abbey just recently, so clue maybe"

Bandit rubs his chin. He still isn’t so sure the dibbun wondered off on her own but... "Even if this Aster has nothing to do with Starlight she is still dangerous and a murder. She has to be brought to justice." The fox turns to Safana, "We should get a party together and head down to the south."

Safana nods "Yes, before anything else happens “

Bandit shrugs. "Well, we are both here. And frankly I could use the exercise. Want to go searching for this feline?" The fox hears the wind beat against the doors. His ears droop at the sound. Bandit really doesn’t want to go out in the cold but...

Safana asks, "You want to look for this Aster maybe?"

Bandit shrugs, "Oh of course I want to go track a crazed maniac out in the middle of winter. Who doesn't?" The fox says with sarcasm. Shaking his head, "I don't have a choice." Rubbing his eyes Bandit continues, "Just between you and me, I don't think Starlight is alive anymore. I think Lee is just putting the blame on Nightfur because it’s easier to hate something than face the truth that his daughter wondered out into the wild before the storm and didn’t come back. And even if Nightfur did take Starlight the chances of ever finding him again are...remote. But we have to give the family hope..."

Safana likes this idea, maybe she could get it going, "You know she could of wandered off in that storm, died somewhere where wouldn’t be found, it’s possible and could be true"

Safana says, "So what does the otter looks like, in case seen the small tyke, I was out earlier for a short while"

Bandit makes a humorous laugh, "It’s been what? Over a week now since she disappeared out in this weather. This may sound cold but I kind of hope she was kidnapped by Nightfur...It would be the only way she will still be alive." The fox sighs, "Did you want to go looking for Aster or leave the task to more qualified beasts. I know what she looks like but I am no tracker."

Safana smirks as she listens to the fox, "Oh? You hope she was why is that?"

Bandit shakes his head, "I don’t want her to be taken but...a dibbun isn’t going to survive out in this weather. The only way she would be alive by now is if she was taken by Nightfur or...anyone really." The fox drums his claws against the table. "I don't want to go out searching and come across some frozen body. I couldn't handle that even in my less than honorable days, and I know Lee couldn't either."

Safana keeps those words in her mind, he hopes she was taken by Nightfur, she could use this, and he doesn’t want to go searching, "I see..well. ..most interesting indeed."

Safana says, "Know what you rest ok..save energy, I will look and report back"

Bandit nods, more than happy to not go trekking for danger through the woods. "Thanks. Take care Safana. That cat is dangerous."

= Couple Hours Later

Safana slips in and stays by the doorway

Timothy watches Bandit wave him over, his eyes following the paw as he gathers himself up to wander over and sit next to bandit and the polecat he doesn't know. Putting his shield next to him he places his arms on the table. "Just can't help yourself can you Bandit?"

Sykes grins at Timothy, "Why would he want to. Sykes sure doesn't want to." He tells the cat, "They have some nice soup over there."

Safana walks in and speaks "I have news"

Bandit stacks his plate high with food and digs in. Is it any wonder how the fox has grown so large. "Eat up mate. No harm in splurging everyone in a while." He says to Tim then pats his own gut, "Well, maybe there is..."

Sykes looks to Safana, "Oh, what sort of news?"

Timothy nods at Bandit. "Oh yes, yes there is." His hand goes back to resting on his Shield, claws sliding across the steel. "Indeed, what new do you have for us Safana?"

Safana looks at Bandit, "First, tracks south and an idea who may not be as they seem, who may of helped the black and white cat"

The fox stuffs himself silly with shrimp. He swallows before saying, "Oh so the hunt proved successful?" He must admit this is one of the better meals he has eaten in a long while. A nice and wonderful feast."

Safana speaks "I know what happen to Lee’s child now, who has her or did anyways"

Sykes has no idea what any beast is talking about, nonetheless he stops eating long enough to listen.

Bandit stops eating and turns around to face Safana, "So she was taken after all?" The fox rubs his chin. "But by who?"

Timothy turns to look at Safana, his eyes looking into her own. He already knows the answer to this from Lee's own telling but his face doesn't show anything about knowing. "Was it who I'd been speculating about earlier?" His voice genuinely curious.

Safana smiles as she knows what she heard, "It could be you see I heard it " She points at Bandit “There is one who knows something, his WORDS and do not say you didn’t, he said how he HOPES Nightfur has her! How he is not looking didn’t want to I wonder why, how we would find her cold and death on the ground and oh don’t tell Lee.."

Sykes stands up, "You do not go around accusing random beasts of kidnapping dibbuns. Ever. Bandit has no reason to want to have that dibbun kidnapped that I know of. You take that back, or I will have you kicked out of here this moment."

The already glutted fox chose the wrong moment to reach over and bite down on a shrimp. At the accusation Bandit's eyes go wide and he inhales it. The fox spends the next few moments coughing and hacking, beating his chest until he spits it back out onto the table. By then Bandit has gained the attention of most if not all abbey dwellers. "Say WHAT?!" He manages...eventually.

Timothy pushes himself up from his chair, pulling the shield of his with him and throwing it across his back. "I don't believe it either. Bandit has no motive, nor drive to have done it either." Wiping one paw on the back of his arm he continues. "I seem to remember someone having a bite from a Dibbun on their hand the other day in the infirmary... the Dibbun here wouldn't bite unless something was happening to them." It seems vaguely like an accusation to one who might have had that bite, but to the others in the room it may as well just be otherwise.

Safana smirks, "You said just earlier, you HOPE Nightfur has Lee's dibbun, how the otter was just a fool, you didn’t want to go out looking for the otter I say cause YOU took her, YOU work for Nightfur..and He said he spoke with Aster once, maybe HE told her ta shoot down the queen Sparra, why..cause birds fly, they are the perfect thing to see him, do not lie fox and you mentioned the otter could be dead maybe ya mean she is dead and maybe you did it,..did you fox?"

Sykes crosses his arms and looks at Timothy, "Do you have any evidence he said anything of the sort?"

Bandit cringes, the fox takes a deep breath before replying, "I...did say that but not in the way you...it...I" Blast it! Why don't words work for him when he needs them too. The fox twitches his ears to the sounds of conversation around him. By now the abbey beasts have gotten the gist of the conversation. He can just imagine what is going through their heads. "...well I did hear he has a price on his head..." "I never did like em..." "Never trust a fox..." "But the champions a fox, right?" He can’t hear every murmur but the ones he does here doesn’t bode well. He is touched by Sykes and Tim's faith in him though.

Safana crosses her arms over her chest as she looks at Bandit and speaks again, "See he admits it, I be asking him where the otter dibbun is, unless he already killed her"

Timothy mock spits on the floor. "I don't have proof Bandit said any of those things, none. But I have a source that says it was someone else, and one that would and should be trusted implicitly on anything he says." Turning to the Abbey beasts he gives them all an accusing look ."Don't start jumping to conclusions about this fox here, remember what he did for your Abbey. He has risked his neck for you all."

Sykes looks to Bandit, , "If we listen to Safana, one of the abbey's greatest allies will be executed. This may also lead to Redwall losing its champion, and possibly never getting that dibbun back as the real kidnapper goes free."

The crowd of abbey dwellers begin to talk among themselves. On the one hand the beasts have dedicated themselves to peaceful co-existence. On the other they are attacked by vermin once every three months. Bandit snaps his head around to Sykes, "E-executed? Who said anything about execution?" The fox is starting to feel sick even sicker when a squirrel novice carrying dishes by rubs his chin in his free paw and says aloud without thinking. "Come to think of it...he did say all that." A few other novices there in the hall that day nod as well.

Safana looks at Bandit and the others "I just said THIS FOX" she points to Bandit, "No other..Flicktail is good, unlike Bandit here who is clearly not good." She gives him a look, "You are horrible..indeed hope Flicktail is the one to slay you…good day or..bad day" She walks out now and on upstairs.
