Kentar and Will Clean Out the Chimney

Characters: Will and Kentar

Location: Moledeep, Mossflower Woods

Moledeep: Garden Burrow

Will is in the garden burrow checking over the ancient tools that sit beside the fireplace to see if they're still useable. Most of them are made of iron or similar metals so he doubts they'll be much problem except some have or had wooden handles which didn't survive the passage of time as well if at all. He sorts the tools into three piles: Metal tools, tools with wooden handles or other wooden parts and tools that once had wooden parts or handles and might be salvageable for replacement heads or something. He figures Kentar will be in sometime to help him. If the stoat takes too long though he may have to go fetch him.

Kentar has been talking with Garnet all day about yesterday and he's only now getting away to help Will with the fireplace cleaning. "Here I am!" he calls out as he enters the burrow, peeking around slowly.

Will looks up as he hears the stoat come in, "Hi. Found this stuff," he motions toward the piles of tools, "sitting by th fireplace. Don't know if we need all of em or what they do exactly but they might help," he shrugs a little as he stands up to let the stoat take over since he doesn't know how one clean a fireplace except the very basic idea that you remove the dirt and ashes and whatever else may block the smoke from leaving the chimney correctly.

Kentar nods slowly and chuckles. "Right." he nods before looking them over. "Do we have a broom?" he asks, looking around. He doesn't trust those tools as far as they can throw him.

Will glances over at the stoat, "One that is still useable? I don't know. Not too likely unless Pa an Stepmum borrowed one from th Abbey or something. We can look around could be one."

Kentar nods. "Just a broom with a long handle." he says before peering up the fire place slowly. "Yeah...the broom. If you've got one around."

Kentar tilts his head a little. "Then I guess I'll just climb the inside." he hehs quietly, still peering up.

Will wanders off to try and find a useable long handled broom in the storage chamber amid all the other ancient junk that fills the room.

The stoat looks up the fireplace thing again before looking around, grabbing a big poker thing, poking at the soot and such.

Will returns to the garden burrow after much searching. "Doesn't look like we have a broom. Not a long handled one anyway and th one we do have is pretty torn up," the rat holds up the broom he did find which clearly has seen better days.

Kentar looks to the rat and then goes to take the broom. "This should do." he says, nodding before crawling a little into the fireplace and pokes upward before eeping and closing his eyes as dust and soot and such falls down, pushing out of the fireplace as if a dust storm just happened.

Will had been standing near the stoat do see what he was doing but jumps back when the soot and dust starts flying. "Maybe we should have gone someplace t hire a chimney sweep instead of doing this ourselves," he says thinking out loud.

The stoat blinks and coughs before slowly standing up out of the fire place, looking black as night. "Waugh. Yes. I think so." he nods slowly. "But I think I got it." he chuckles a bit then coughs again.

Will nods keeping out of the way. There isn't much the rat can do right now to help, he'll wait til Kentar's done clearing the chimney and help clean the hearth after they were sure the chimney was cleaned out.

Kentar chuckles a little and nods slowly. "Right. Anyways." he goes back under the fireplace to finish cleaning it then stands and thinks. "I am really going to need a bath after this." he laughs.

Will grins a bit, "Yep. Is it clear yet? I mean if ya look up it can you see th sky or whatever."

Kentar laughs. "Yeah. Haha. Funny, Will."

Will doesn't see what the stoat finds so funny. "So now what? We clean out th part where th wood goes an everything and we're done or what?" he asks.

Kentar nods slowly. "Yeah. That's what we do. Then we're done. I think." he nods.

"Ok. Just tell me what t do," the rat says watching the stoat.

Will nods and finds a rag in a nearby bin to use. He's a little puzzled by the stoat's words though. "Didn't I give you th broom?" he asks as the stoat leaves.

Kentar had totally forgotten that so he turns around and goes back to the broom. "Yeah. You did. Sorry. I'm an idiot." he hehs before taking the broom and sweeping the fireplace. He obviously has no idea what he's doing.

Will chuckles, "It's ok. You can't help being an idiot," he teases as he rubs at the stones of the fireplace.

Kentar smirks. "Duuhhhh....thankya Will...do I get cookie now?" he grins then laughs loudly before trying to sweep a dust cloud towards Will.

"Hey! Cut it out!" Will laughs, coughing as the dust cloud hits him.

Kentar laughs and does it again. "Me don't how know, sorry!"

Will moves out of the way of the dust cloud and throws his rag at the stoat. "Yes you do you crazy stoat!" he grins though he ready would like the stoat to quit directing the dust at him.

Kentar laughs and eeps, ducking out of the way. "Haha! But now, you'll need a bath too." he smirks before starting to properly clean. "Sorry Will, I couldn't help it."

"Yes you could have," the rat retorts with a small smile while going to retrive his rag.

Kentar chuckles. "No I couldn't have." he laughs, smirking. "Anyways. We need to have more fun, you and I. We're brothers! Thats what brothers are supposed to do."

Will has gone back to rubbing the hearth clean with his rag. "Yeah we should. What do you want t do after we finish this?" he asks.

Kentar shrugs a little. "Maybe, once I get all cleaned off and stuff, we could. Um. I'll get back to you on that."

Will laughs, "Ok. Though I'd suggest th river over th pond. Won't be fit t swim in for a while if you bathe in it and th river'd wash all th dirt off down stream t th ocean /and/ it'll keep th pond cleaner."

Kentar nods a little and then chuckles a bit. "Right. The river then." he nods and smiles.

"I might have t join you what with you throwing all that dirt at me," Will adds, still scrubbing away at the hearth.

The stoat nods and chuckles, "Yeah." He gets an evil thought but doesn't hint it as they clean before he finally nods, "I think that should be it."

Will nods as well standing up and stretching after kneeling for so long. He balls up the rag he was using and shoves it in one of his pockets to clean later. "Good. To th river?" he asks looking down at himself knowing sooner or later he will have to take a bath no matter what the stoat says.

Kentar nods and laughing, chuckling quietly. "Yeah. One sec." he vanishes out to the hall. "Meet me in the hall!" he calls out

Will says, "Uh, ok." The rat walks out to the hall to wait for the stoat to return.

Kentar returns after a few minutes, having changed into a proper pair of swimming shorts. "Right. Lets go." he chuckles quietly, going off outside

Will is more of the habit of washing one's cloths as well as one's self but he doesn't bother comment on the stoat's swim shorts. The rat follows the stoat outside planning to head off toward the River Moss.

Mossflower Woods: Bank of the River Moss

Kentar dives into the water as soon as he gets there, staying below the surface for a few moments, grinning as after he breaches the surface. "Come on Will!"

The rat sits down on the bank of the stream, which branches off of the river farther east. After a moment he slides down into the water to start scrubbing the dirt and soot out of his fur and clothes. He pays little mind to the stoat except to splash at him once or twice when he first gets in the water, "I heard you!" he laughs back at the stoat, "You don't have to yell, I'm right here!"

Kentar gahs as he's splashed, laughing a little. "Sorry, Will." he hehs. "Didn't mean to anger you." the stoat goes about scrubbing himself then grins slightly before diving slowly under water, popping up behind will, then splashing him a lot, just to dive under again. He's a better swimmer then he let on.

"I'm not mad. I- Hey! Stop it!" Will tries to tackle the stoat but he's already gone under. "That's not fair!" Will laughs trying to look under the water to track the stoat.

Kentar grins to himself under the water but then comes up behind the rat again, only to splash then vanish.

"Hey!" Will shouts spinning around, but he sees no beast behind him. He hmms and dives under the water to try and find the stoat that way.

Kentar keeps behind Will the entire time, not wanting him to be seen yet, but he does poke him in the right shoulder before vanishing behind him again.

Will just catches some sort of movement out of the corner of his eye as he's poked and turns around as quickly as he can. The rat isn't the best swimmer, being a rat and all but he can swim well enough.

Kentar breaches the surface for air, laughing his head off and splashing about. "Hahaha. This is fun." he says to himself.

Will misses the stoat, again. He stays under the water looking for his brother. The rat spies a stoaty tail and give it a yank before pushing off the stream bed and shooting off a few feet to avoid getting caught and get a head start should the stoat come after him.

Kentar was just floating there and then gives a loud yelp. "Hey! You! Come back here." he rubs his tail then dives under the water, swimming after the rat, revenge on his mind.

Will would laugh but that would interfere with his holding his breath. He does smiles though as he tries to stay out of the stoat's reach.

Kentar darts after Will and tries to grab his footpaw, grinning ear to ear as he attempts it.

Will has been under the water much longer than Kentar and can't stay under much longer. He hits the bank and pushes off to one side before surfacing for air and heading for the shore so he'll stand a better chance against the stoat.

Kentar surfaces and then grins. "Come on Will! I didn't realize rats got scared of silly old stoats." he grins, then swims off after the rat.

Will catches his breath as he climbs out of the water. "Me, scared of you?" he asks grinning, "You're crazy. I'm not scared of you. I'm just done playing in the water. Besides I'm all clean now." Well clean by his standards anyway.

Kentar chuckles and also climbs out. "Alright then." he smiles but as soon as the rat has lowered his guard, he pounces, trying to knock him to the ground and tickle attack him

Will smirks at the stoat and back up a few steps before turning to run off planning to goad the stoat into chasing him around the woods. But before he can get very far he finds himself pounced by the stoat. "Gah! Get off me!" he grunts trying to push the larger beast off him so he can resume his plan of running away. Then the stoat starts tickling him. The rat tries to curl up into a ball to lessen the impact of the tickling, "Hey! No! Don't do that!" he laughs trying to get away and trying not to uncurl himself in the process, which is proving very difficult to do.

Kentar laughs and grins evilly. "Oh no you don't. You don't run away from Kentar the tickler!" he grins, tickling the rat even more, having a ball. He makes sure Will can't get away with ease but does make sure that if Will really wants to get away, he can. "Muhahaha!

Will is laughing and still trying to get away though not as much as he was, unfortunaty for the rat he can't get away while curled up. He uncurls just a little to try and roll onto his belly and then maybe crawl away.

Kentar continues to tickle even though the rat is moving, only tickling more and more. He's no longer stopping Will from leaving but he's trying to make it much harder by tickling more and more, laughing himself.

Will had managed to roll over onto his back where he's far less ticklish. He lays as flat as he can waiting for the right moment to try and escape the stoat.

Kentar grins then finally stops, the stoat getting off Will and grins like an idiot. "Haha!"

Will quickly gets to his feet once the stoat moves and dashes off back toward Moledeep calling back, "Catch me if you can, you crazy stoat!"

Kentar grins and dashes after the rat before dashing back, grabbing his sword and then running quickly after the rat again. "Haha! I will! I will! Haha!" Thud. He just ran right into an outstretched tree limb. Wasn't there when Will ran past. And he's out like a light.

Moledeep

Will makes it back to Moledeep first. He jumps around happily and calls out, "I won! I won! I beat you, Kentar!" He wait for the stoat's reply thinking his brother was still behind him. After a while he wonders what could have happened to the stoat and calls out, "Kentar? Kentar?! Are you coming?!" He think maybe this is some sort of trick his brother is playing on him since the stoat had been saying they should do more brotherly stuff together and they had been teasing each other a lot today. He waits a while expecting the stoat to sneak up on him or something but the stoat doesn't appear. The rat chew on his lower lip and scratches his head in confusion, "Huh. Maybe he got passed me or something. Don't see how he could have .... unless I wasn't first after all and ... that stoat," he laughs, "he's probably inside already while I'm standing out here waiting for him when he already go back. Kentar'd probably eat up my share of dinner if I don't go in soon."

The rat grins to himself not minding too much that the stoat may have gotten back before him after all and heads inside. He doesn't see Kentar around but doesn't think too much of it thinking his brother is with his sister=in-law and nephews in their room or out in one of the gardens. Will is in a good mood as he checks on Racky and Kluna who are both napping in the dibbun hole. He even whistles a little as he fills up two bowls with hot soup, one for Amy and another with added hotroot for himself. He sets the soup down on the table in the study where Amy had been napping in one of the chairs. It was a hot day so it's not that strange a sight to see. He gives her a peck on the check and shakes her awake gently telling her he's brought dinner still blissfully unaware that his big brother did not return home.
