Halyard Village: West Square(#93069RJA)
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Halyard Village ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Devastation. That is only way to describe the state of Halyard's main square
after the force of the storm. Debris and sand litter the ground, and in some
places the ground is still flooded. A large number of the short, squat
buildings that surround the square have sustained considerable damage. The
lucky ones are only missing a roof - the less lucky are a crumbling ruin.
The fishing gear that can usually be found scattered about is absent - the
town's livelihood, for the moment, is on hold.

A party of Hares are enterring the village, making their way through the path they have cleared through the rubble. They are carrying boxes and baxes, rolling kegs and generlaly moving supplies under the watchful eye of a slender hare in a maroon jacket.
A tall squirrel stands in the square sadly shaking his head at the wreckage lined streets. Obviously he escaped without much harm, but the fate of the town stands squarely in the hands of others, the storm having made havoc of the shops and the fishermen's boats and gear.
Aleltai the squirrel turns for a moment to survey the remnants of the town behind him, noticing the large groups of hares, not an uncommon sight these days.
Quinten nods to the squirrel as he sees him and walks over and salutes him, "Good day sah, anything you might be needing? We just brought some fresh supplies up from the mountain."
Aleltai nods in return. "I can't say, sir. My place is a bit of wreck these days, i'm just glad the tavern was built of stronger stuff or I might have been blown out of it. As it was, it didn't fare much better, but the lower part is still sorta there. " He scratches his chin absent-mindedly. "I suppose I could use some help clearing out some of the rubble. Leastways, then I could assess the damage. If your not too busy, that is? Vital works you fellows got going on in those tents over there I reckon." He nods toward the barrels and the tents. "Don't let me keep you from getting your supplies in."
Quinten glances at the supplies, "Well this is the last batch, once it's in i'll round up my hares and we'll have a crack at the rubble so we can get into your shop." he holds out a paw. "Quinten Taran Marben Teno Aluioscious Tof'marole Delmenare. Long Patrol Recorder."
Aleltai takes the offered paw. "Aleltai, sir. Nice to meet you."
Quinten smiles, "Well Aleltai let me just get this all checked in and i'll be right back." he hops off after his patrol hares to get the supplies organised.
What do you want to whisper?
Aleltai watches him hop off, and patiently waits for the hare to return.
Quinten returns after about 15 minutes with four other hares in tow. They are carrying various tools, shovels, crowbars and the like ready to tackle the rubble. "Well Master Aleltai shall we have a look and see what we can do for you?"
Aleltai says, "I guess so." He points at one of the buildings. "The one with the dangling wooden sign that says Antiques. Looks like the roof might have fallen in,.." he pauses," so watch out for falling roofing. Can't have you unduly injuring yourselves"
Quinten nods his head and leads the way forward with the private patrollers in tow. "Ok well lets have a look." The move toward the building, none of them going inside as they start to assess the structure from outside.
Aleltai follows them at a safe distance over toward the structure.
Quinten peers inside and looks up. "I think you are right about the roof Aleltai sir.... I think the safest thing to do is to assess that first."
Aleltai sighs, "Ah, as I feared. At least I won't have to tear it off if I have to rebuild the inside." The squirrel tugs his whiskers. "You can start whenever you're ready."
Quinten nods his head and gives orders to his crew, they move inside and can be seen moving about, moving rubble and shoring up what is left of the wood with some of the fallen roof beams. Quinten starts to bring out items that must have been part of the shops stock. Some of them intact, others damaged and some just scuffed.
Aleltai moves to assess the work, especially what's left of the stock. Not too bad, but it'll be a bit before he knows for sure
The hares seem to have the roof stable after about an hour and start to dig through the rubble. "It's safe for you to come inside now Aleltai, you can probably tell us what is what in all this mess better then we can."
Aleltai follows Quinten inside the shell of the building to assess the damages.
"Ooh, that's not good. Stocks are probably ok, but those cabinets are going to have to undergo significant repair..." He leaves off looking at the drawered cabinets and carefully steps into the back room, anxious to see if the maps stored in back are okay.
Quinten looks around and moves over to help one of his hares move a broken door out of the way to the access to the back room and peers into it.
In the back, Aleltai can be seen rummaging and his occasional comment heard. "Good, these look okay. Glad I waxed these up the other days." For a moment silence reigns and then he can be heard muttering, "Yuck, these'll have to go out and dry. Look at that mold and moss and whatnot. Those trunks are probably done for, wonder where I'll get replacements." Five minutes later he comes to the doorway.
Aleltai returns. "Looks okay, he comments. It's a real mess back there, i'll have to empty those trunks and get them dried out and then I may end up using them for firewood. Not before I find replacments though. Who knows when that'll be.
Pausing, he says, "The fishermen are really in a bad state, this is nothing compared to their issues.
"Thanks a lot sir, sirs that is! Is it safe now?"
Quinten nods his head, "Aye we are doing what we can for everyone, but resources are stretched thin. Still at least you can get in here safely now. Glad to have been able to help."
