Helping A Dibbun

Salamandastron: Dining Chamber

This is the dining chamber for the mountain of Salamandastron. It is a

veritable cavern, the necessity of feeding so many hares making the room

so big. Dominating the room is a huge banquet table made of solid oak.

Nobeast knows how such a venerable object came to be here, but its

presence is undeniable. Smaller tables skirt the outside of the room,

each sitting near a large torch burning brightly in its sconce. The chair

at the head of the table is different from the plain maple chairs that

occupy the rest of the room - it belongs to the Badger Lord. The massive

object is graced with a carving of the very mountain it is in, with the

sun setting over the sea.

Zinnia has come to the dining hall a little late to avoid most of the hares. She has kept an eye on Xander since she brought him here. "We can get something to eat, your eat something right?"

Xander shakes his head no as he follows her closely and frowns. He has been here almost 3 days and only nibbled some bread and drank a little water. He also has not really spoken since he been here, maybe one or two words.

Zinnia frowns as she sits him in a chair "You should try and eat something" She sighs trying to figure out what to do, she then asks calmly "Aren’t you hungry?"

Xander just frowns and lets himself be place on a chair, "Want...mama" He mutters quietly, he looks around the large room and seems to make sure no one comes too close to him.

Zinnia sits down beside him "I know, but.." She is not good at explaining things, "But she would want you to eat something and maybe drink some juice, please"

Xander looks up at her and yawns and just shakes his head no again as he is not in the mood for food right now. He starts tracing some patterns in the chair with a claw, not damaging the chair as he is being careful.

Zinnia gets up and goes to get some rolls, a scone and some soup for herself and the dibbun before sitting she also gets some juice. She offers him a scone and smiles "Here, it's blueberry I think"

Xander takes the scone and then goes to throw it back at her, maybe bounce it off her head even and curls up in the chair.

Zinnia is surprised as the scone bounces off her forehead and then to the floor. She sighs and goes to pick it up and throw it away, walking back over to him “You didn't want it? Maybe later?" She is starting to get a little worried now.

Xander seems to not be interested in food or drink, he seems to have little interest even in the room really and just stays curled up and snorts once. Well looks like he won't even nibble anything right now or maybe any time soon.

Zinnia watches the dibbun as she is still at a loss how to help him, she then speaks softly "If you don't eat something your get sick and that would be no fun would it?"

Xander had closed his eyes and now he opens them again and looks at the older badger. A sort of far away look and a frown, he is starting to understand that his mother really isn't coming back and it's caused him to be too sad to eat or drink.

Zinnia gently goes to scoop him up in her arms and just rock him some “Its...well.." She sighs "I know you miss your mother, I don't have a mother either, or a father...even an adopted one now, they died and it made me very sad also. I miss them and always will, I don't think one stops missing anyone, lest not totally"

Xander snuggles into her robes as tears go down his face, he might understand more than he should but it doesn't help the sad feelings go away.

Zinnia gets a scone and breaks it in pieces and goes to offer Xander some again, "Please Xander.." She remembers the name he mumbled the day before.

Xander finally decides he wants something to eat and dos eat the scone pieces and looks at the plate reaching for more in fact and points to the juice glass.

Zinnia smiles and helps to make sure he can reach the plate and juice.

Xander stuffs a scone in his mouth and drinks the juice, he also eats a couple rolls and licks his paw, "Me hungry" He says.

Zinnia smiles and nods as she goes to get him a plate of some food, a roll and some rice cakes, an apple and some grapes and a little fish and some juice to drink. She brings it back to him and gets herself some pie and some soup with a roll and juice as well.

Xander eats his food and drinks his juice and every so often looks around as he finishes the plate and grabs the roll Zinnia has and stuffs that in his mouth as well to eat. Yes hares would love this kid, he is eating a lot and is still hungry as he slides off the chair and goes over to the table where half a pie is and gets it, taking it back to the table and has a small plate of blueberries also and starts to eat all this as well and starts to eat the last blueberry he has and then places it on Zinnia's plate and offers a small smile.

Zinnia can only watch and blink and then chuckles as her roll is taken and he gives her a blueberry that she eats. She sips her own juice and eats some soup “Well, you were hungry huh, I am glad you decided to eat something I was getting worried."

Xander drinks the rest of his juice and tilts his head watching her before he burps loudly and frowns, well maybe he ate a little too fast. "Me..sorry" He mutters quietly.

Zinnia nods "It’s alright just next time eat and drink more slowly"

Xander says, "Ok..me...I will" He is talking a little more and starting to trust her a lot more now as well. He also is tried as he yawns wide and curls back up into her lap.

Zinnia holds him close and makes sure he is comfortable.

Xander smiles a little in his sleep, he feels safe with Zinnia, he also has finally ate a good meal and so that is good as well.

Zinnia goes to carry him off to bed, as she lets him sleep beside her, least till they can get a bed for the dibbun to sleep in, she yawns and decides a nap isn’t a bad idea after all and is also soon asleep.
