Heatstroke! :O
RW Abbey: Kitchen Yard
Boasting a decent view of the Abbey's orchards and gardens, this
space is mostly a work area, displaying well trampled grass and the
occasonal bare spot. An especaily worn spot is the path that leads
between the kitchen gardens and the vineyards.
From one end of the kitchen yard to the other, the space is nearly
filled by the tremendous gnarled trunk of an ancient apple tree,
roots and branches and boughs trimmed off and piled alongside for
later use. A deep groove of mud-churned sod and torn grass leads
back to the orchard, from where the fallen tree must have come.
There are also a variety of workshops around the edge of the yard,
the wood-shop, the cooper for making barrels. The small smithy
where the abbey's tools are made, the potters kiln and the brewery.

Zork the badger. Emyuil the mouse. DoraRose and Angela, mice.
Zork is fixing the valve on the forge, a simple task and yet seems to be annoying him as he grumbles and leans back in his chair. Yes he can reach it thanks to having the chair in its raised position. It would seem such a small thing would not be annoying, but it is, and add the fact it's hot outside today.
Emyuil walks out carefully, checking back over his shoulder every few steps to make sure DoraRose is following him through the sunny kitchen yard. He's still bitterly angry at himself for letting her get hurt again and his demeanor shows it.
DoraRose still has a beauty of a bruise on her neck from where Irinevok tried to strangle her, and she can't talk. And she also didn't want to follow her brother. So, she went through the kitchens, and every time someone asked her how she was, she simply pointed to her throat, and they shuts up. She comes out into the yard and blinks against the bright sunlight, smiling. Angela comes from the vineyard, leaning heavily upon her staff. She looks closely at the badger and calls out, "Stress ain't good for ye, either, sonny."
Zork rolls his eyes and yes he is ignoring the old mouse. He looks at the valve again and goes to carefully and slowly place the pin and grumbles. "Stupid pin..." He stands up slowly and seems to be able to place the pin better and grins, "Give me troubles will ya...I win" He says. And adjusts the valve to make sure if works and chuckles. He frowns as standing was a bad idea and he gets a little shakie on his footpaws and grumbles again as he goes to slowly sit back down again and wipes sweat off his brow, he is not leaving till he knows its back to working order and he needs to test it for that.
Emyuil glances over to his sister. He's been, if anything, more attached to her the last few days, simply because she was so close to death during the battle with Irinevok. He decides not to approach her, and that she'd come to him if she wanted to be with him. So instead he sits down in the shade of the forge, gazing out at the grounds.
Angela hobbles over to the badger and sighs. "Ye've been workin' too 'ard, ye crazy coot. Don't ignore me when I'm talkin' to ye, please. It frustrates me." DoraRose coughs slightly, waves her brother to join her, and walks over to the forge. Pulling a notebook and a charcoal pencil out of her apron pocket, she writes a message, saying, /What happened here?/
Emyuil drifts over to his sister and inspects the forge. "Broken valve?" he asks Zork as his sister's writing the note.
Zork looks over at Angela, "Ello" He says simply and looks back to the forge valve, "I need ta...fix this, sooner de better ya see." He adjusts the valve and does a couple things, tightens something all from his chair and this takes maybe 10 minutes where he doesn't say anything to any beast. He sighs as he goes to stand again, probably not the best idea, and tests the valve and grins, "I...I fixed it...works good, great now..." He frowns, the forge fire didn't have to be on too long or even be hardly on really to test to make sure it worked when turned on and off, he was just testing it and he goes to turn it off. It should go out in a couple minutes as he lays a paw on his forehead and about falls back into his wheelchair, well good thing it was there or he may of fell onto his bottom, or back..."It's...little hot today or is it me?"
Angela watches in silence, then says, "Why can't somebeast else do this? I'm sure there are other, equally qualified beasts who could do it." DoraRose frowns slightly and writes for all to see, /It is rather warm, but I think you're finding it warmer than we are./
"Sure it's not too warm?" Emyuil asks quietly, the closest thing to concern for anybeast but his family he usually shows.
Zork frowns as he looks at Angela, "Because...ummm, just" He tries to wave her away and then says "I had ta fix it, make sure was done right and was done right. Now 'tis fixed and it's all better now ok...and Beanr will be happy to know this." He sighs as he leans back in his chair, yeah he is a little too hot right now, yes the forge is fixed but the badger feels ill now, probably out too long in the heat.
Angela goes to check the badger over for signs of heatstroke. "Do ye feel lightheaded? Nauseated?" DoraRose nudges her brother and writes him a not. /Would you please get each of us some water? I'm not sure how to get from here to the pond, or if there's water here. I get a little mixed up here in the Abbey, to be honest./
Emyuil nods. "Sure." He gives his sister a quick one-armed hug, careful to avoid her bruised neck, and heads off. He returns several minutes later with a large jug of water and four cups. "Water served up!" he declares.
Zork just nods to Angela and frowns, summer heat never got to him this much before and now it does. His pulse and breathing seem ok, maybe slightly fast but not at some dangerous level, he also mutters "Headache...also."
Angela goes to take a glass from her son and pour some water into it, aiming to get the badger's head wet. "Ye crazy young snip! I'd be in my full rights to ban ye from doin' any work in the warm weather ever again!" DoraRose smiles her thanks at her brother and goes to get a glass of water for herself.
Emyuil sips his water; he's thirstier than he thought and he takes it down in a few swallows. He leans back, sated, against the side of the forge hut and relaxes.
Zork doesn't move, but the coldish water snaps him more awake than he was and he coughs some, "Ahhhhh...I'm wet!...Oh?" He blinks and frowns "Oh yeah, tis just water...water is nice and I am...not be like young ya crazy." He reaches for some water and will drink a little if he gets some "I...should go lay down, okay with you all?" Zork gets his water and drinks half of it, he goes to stand up and say something to Angela, then the thought is forgotten as he looks near to passing out and half falls and half sits back into the chair..."Whoa....your fuzzy..." He mutters, yeah he needs out of the heat, like now before he gets worse.
Angela smiles slightly. "Good, I'm glad I didn't 'ave to tell 'im that." She hobbles off to make sure he's okay. Hopefully she'll be able to. DoraRose finishes her water and writes, /Do you think Nana and Zork are about the same age?/
"Probably," Emyuil says. "About. They have that old-beasts interaction with each other for sure...They seem to get along in a cranky way is what I mean. Kind of, they bother each other but don't hold it against each other is what I meant."
DoraRose snorts in laughter, then starts coughing horribly as it irritates her throat. Once she finishes coughing, she takes a sip of water and writes, /I need to go lay down. Take care, Emmy./ She coughs again and stumbles off to the gatehouse.
Emyuil nods, a warm feeling filling his chest as he watches his sister go. It's a good day out, and for once, he curls up by the forge in the heat...and sleeps soundly.
