Getting Ready For The Long Trip(Pre-Ambassador Trip Log)

RW Abbey: Recorder's Room

This is a moderately sized room. A small bed sits in the corner; it

is nothing special and has obviously been repaired once or twice.

The mattress is comfortable, but not particularly thick. The sheets

are standard and one blanket is folded up at the bottom of the bed.

There is a small desk in one corner, which is covered in parchments,

some stacked and blank and others scattered and used. Next to the

desk, a low bookshelf lines the wall. It is filled with old-looking

tomes, no doubt records past bound and ordered. A small trunk sits

at the foot of the bed, and it is locked. There is a single window,

no more than a slit of a thing, six inches wide at most, and it

spills a sliver of light into the room during the day. A flowerpot

sits on the narrow windowsill.

Zinnia is in her room, looking over an update on the Recorder Logs and then closes the book as she lies down. She has been in the room since lunch yesterday and did miss dinner, but she had breakfast as someone brought it to her, and that someone was a very worried Brother Boaz.

Leon knocked on the door and peeks in “Sister Zinnia, are you up?”

Brother Boaz looks over at the doorway “Ahh Brother Leon enter, She is awake and has had some breakfast, and I was trying to discuss about a note I got, but she remains ever silent” He sighs

Leon walks into the room “Note about what Boaz, hopefully not bad news.”

Boaz adjusts his glasses as he read “Brother Boaz, could you kindly be a temporary librarian and recorder while I am away, signed Sister Zinnia.” He looks over his glasses at Leon “I am unsure, I mean I would make sure things were keep clean and in a fair order. Maybe I can teach others to make sure to place books back on the shelves correctly and I am ok with keeping things up to date if needed, providing I know whats going on and whats important to write down.”

Leon glances over at Zinnia and then his attention is back to Boaz, “Well me, he and Dorarose are going to the badger Mt. and we leave the morning after the feast, so in a weeks time.” He smiles “I am sure you will do fine Brother Boaz, Sister Zinnia is good at making sure things are done right.”

Zinnia looks over at them and sighs; she has also made sure they have needed maps and a list of things. She sits up and then walks over to Leon with the list of items that she has and ones needed still. It would seem the only things still needed and can be added the day they leave or day before is of course food and water, and maybe a couple odds and ends. She has rope, maps, paper and quill pens, a couple pots and pans, she has warm clothing and a blanket or two, she has canteens for water and other varies needs she has and she hopes Dorarose and Leon add whatever else is needed as well.

Boaz adjusts his glasses again and nods “I will speak with Abbot Benar on the matter and see what he says on me being a temporary Recorder. You two have a good day” He then exits the room to speak to the abbot.

Leon looks over the list and nods “This is good, always good to be ready ahead of time. I can have Dorarose double check this and make sure it’s good…ok?”

Zinnia just nods as she watches Leon, she then finishes some oatmeal and greensap milk she has.

Leon speaks, “You should make sure you’re eating good. I know you missed dinner last night and you shouldn’t do that too much, not good health wise and I want to make sure me, you and Dora all are healthy for this trip. In fact I am even doing checkups and having Angela check me over a couple days before we leave. I will have my surcoat fully stocked and I know the infirm is already fully stocked with herbs. There will also be some herbs we can collect on the trip as they grow in the woodlands and along streams, so being low on a couple herbs in my surcoat is fine, we would find them fairly easily and I will have bandages and such if needed.

Zinnia just nods, she has done a very good job of being silent the past few weeks, maybe she could win a prize for it even. She shows him the recent log she has.

Leon reads it over and nods “Yeah…Anomen’s death was..depressing. I did try my best to save him but there was most likely more to the injury than I could see, there was swelling and there could have been..well a number of things wrong. The arrow went all the way to his backbone and between some of the bones, if he did survive he most likely would of never walked again. He..he saved lives and I never got to thank him for making sure my wife got out of there alive.”

Zinnia nods slowly, she remembers traveling with Anomen, “Yeah…he was with….me, Lacota,Benar on the other trip to the Mt.” Whoa she spoke! And now she will be quiet again.

Leon blinks, wait he just heard words. He nods “Yeah I remember and Treesong was there as well, his mate. She died in childbirth with their child, I had been afraid Rayen was going to die but we are lucky she didn’t die and she is recovering very well and her daughter is very healthy, and that's after being born 3-4 weeks early.”

Zinnia folds her paws in her lap and nods to this, deep down she is glad as well. She then lays down and yawns.

Leon closes the logger book for her and gets the empty bowl and mug that’s in the room, “Get some rest Zinnia I can check on you later ok?”

Zinnia nods and then closes her eyes to get some sleep.

Leon exits the room quietly and goes to take the bowl and mug to the kitchens and then do whatever he needs to do today.

Zinnia meanwhile falls asleep, deep depression is still clear and it seems Anomen’s death added a little more to it. She tries to hide just how depressed she is. Yes she eats meals, but small ones and she does drink water and tea during the day. She has lost a little weight but nothing that’s dangerous. Deep down she seems to debate if this trip is one she would come back from, yes she can deliver needed letters and such and have a chat with the badger Lord, but maybe…just maybe wander off somewhere, she remains unsure …for now some slightly trouble sleep is on her mind.
