Flowers make girls feel better sometimes XD (A Redwall log)
RW Abbey: Infirmary
Several beds are lined against the red sandstone walls of the Abbey's Infirmary. An examination table, separated from the rest of the room by hanging blankets, rests against the far wall. Tucked into a small alcove is a sizeable workbench with various containers for mixing and preparing medicinal compounds. Against another wall is a desk for use by the Infirmary Keeper. A curtained off alcove behind the desk hides a locked door to the Infirmary's supplies and linens.

Chud the male otter. LilyMoore and Angela the female mice.
Chud has been in and out of the Infirmary a lot in the past few weeks, for various reasons, and here he comes again, bounding up the stairs and quickly skidding to a halt outside the door, poking his head in and looking around. His satchel is under one arm, close to paw.
LilyMoore is quietly helping her great-grandmother today. Angela is not having the best day right now for no obvious reason. Shaking her staff at a Novice, she finishes her grumpy lecture and stomps off over to the herb counter, leaving a very puzzled Novice standing there, blinking back tears. Lily goes over to her and whispers something, and then the 2 of them go back over to one of the beds and the Novice starts helping Lily sweep.
Clearing his throat, Chud steps fully into the room, standing there uncertainly and shifting from one footpaw to the other. "Um...I got the plant," he says to nobeast in particular, staring straight ahead.
LilyMoore and the Novice hunker down a little and sort of hide behind the cot as Angela whips around. "What??!" Spotting the otter, she covers her eyes for a few minutes and sighs. "I....I'm sorry, son. You, too, Novice Claire. Today 'as not been the best of days so far..."
Chud nods. "It's fine," he says, waving away the apology. "I have days like that m'self." He moves over to an empty cot and takes off his satchel, opening it up carefully.
Angela hobbles over and slowly sits down on the cot. "What did ye say when ye came into the room, anyway? I kind of was.....distracted." She watches him open the satchel with interest.
"I got the plant you were interested in," Chud says, with a hint of pride as he draws out a large glass jar, with ventilation holes in the lid. A flower exactly as he described it is cradled inside, with a bit of water and soil. OOC: Da oxlip primrose! BIC:
Angela touches the jar. "Beautiful. I've asked around a bit, but nobeast knew what flower I was talkin' about. Now that we 'ave this, we can ask a bit more and beasts'll know what the plant looks like and so can maybe 'elp us identify it." She goes to carefully take the jar from the otter.
Chud smiles, letting the Healer take the jar from him. "Yeah, hearing what something looks like is completely different from seeing it for some beasts." After a moment he adds, "At least, for me anyways."
Angela opens the jar and feels the leaves and the petals tenderly. "Aye. Now that I can see it, I'll sketch it and write up a description for it. Did y'get the information about it's native 'ome like I asked?"
"Aye, would y'like to hear it now?" Chud doesn't wait for an answer and begins speaking right away. "It was damp in the part of Mossflower I found it in, near the edge of a clearing, but it ranged a little ways into the deeper woods here and there. It wasn't quite a bog, but it was pretty wet. Wet enough that it could flourish, but not so wet that it'd be washed away in any rain."
Angela digs out a book and some charcoal and hands it to the otter without looking at him. "Write it down, young 'un. Then y'can read it to me and I'll see if I need any more information." So there. She continues to study the flowering plant in its jar, expecting immediate obedience from the otter.
Chud nods, scribbling down what he just said, occasionally reminding himself to slow down so it's legible still. After a moment, he reads it aloud. "Okay. Found in the east reaches of Mossflower, moderately forested areas to wood's edge, moderately wet to damp conditions. Lighting doesn't seem to affect it any more than any other average flower. Need more?" he adds as a question directed to Angela.
Angela shakes her head. "Just write down anythin' else y'noticed and it'll be fine." Meanwhile, the Novice has left, and LilyMoore is still sweeping the floor to make sure everything is clean for any other patients that arrive.
"That's it, then," Chud says, passing the book back over to Angela. "Can't recall anything else at the moment." He glances at the plant again. "'s a pretty thing," he murmurs to himself as he regards the yellow flower.
Chud heads off after that, mumbling something about food and not having eaten since breakfast, waving a quick goodbye over his shoulder.
