Flicktail Goes Fishing

From Redwall MUCK Wiki

Characters: Flicktail, William, Aikuen, Aurora

Flicktail emerges from his sleeping area, now as FLicktail..not Martin the Warrior, strecthing he moves over to the water and tosses in a fishing line

William crawls out of his tent and stretches. Seeing no one about right off he heads off toward the water as it's a likely place to look when one is looking for otters or fish.

Flicktail tugs on his rod as the cane ple bendsover...a fish on theend of the line threatehing to pull FLicky in

Flicktail fights the rod as the line moves wildly out in the water, the big fish thrashing

William comes up behind the white fox. Still no sign of otters. "Need any help Flicky?" the rat asks eyeing the fish on the line. Not that the rat knows much about line fishing but doesn't hurt to ask anyway.

Flicktail struggles with the Rod "Oh..oi need elp? N..No oi willjust get dragged into e river" he chuckles as his foot paws slip on the slippery bank

Aikuen is out there. Well. Still out there. He never went to bed last night. But where could he be? He is in a tree. Yep. A tree. By the river. On one of the higher bigger branches. leaning against the trunk. He blinks as he hears noise from below, and he peaks through the bramble to see, "Well... Hi hi. Beasties..." he chuckles to himself. Aik the squirrel-otter.

William blinks not sure if the fox is asking for help or not sometimes his accent can be a bit thick. "What do ya want me t do Flicky?" he asks still watching the fox. At the sound of Aik's voice the rat looks around for where his father might be. "Hey, Pa. Flicky's trying t catch a fish," he calls up to the otter once he sees him.

Flicktail says, "Grab e rot..elp me pull e monster in...! " the fox's foot paws arenow wet as he scrabbles for purchase, the big fish all teeth out in the river "ELP!"

"I can see that, yes" Aikuen chuckles, shedding down a few leaves, "What he needs is otter power. To bad there is none around here..." He then erks as the fish might be taking Flicky away, "Uh-oh. Will, Be a doll and help him out... Im a little... Well. High. At the moment."

Aikuen watches from above, "Well... That works." he mumbles, "Ill be down in a minute!" he yells. He then goes to slowly make his way down the tree. Otter style. He is no squirrel. So the climbing down is a bit difficult for him. He just needs to get low enough before using one of the branches as a spring board.

Flicktail eeps as his tail goes all frizzy "EP me Tail!" as the big fish thrases in the water, lots of teeth showing as the rod bends almost in 2...Slowly FLicky takes one step back beginning to drag the fish some

William releases the fox's tail to try and grab the rod and help by pulling with Flicky but he's not sure if it will work.

Flicktail nearly goes face first into the river..panting, hois sword flopping about on his hip, but safely sheathed....he pants asteh 2 seem to be at a stale mate with the fish

Aurora comes stumbling in from the bushes, looking over her shoulder. She doesn't notice the commotion until she turns her head and then jumps back in surprise at the sight of the 'fish fighters'

Aikuen gets to a low point in the tree. He balances to the end using all four paws, "Okay... Where are yah, you little buggar." He watches in the pool for a bit before ahing, "There you are. Come. To me. My pretty!" he chuckles as he makes a nice dive into the pool. Tackling the fish underwater. Not the way to spend the morning. But hey. Its fish.

Flicktail wrestles not noticing Aurora yet, the fish is a big old Pike...thrasking as Flicky gasps with now teh weight of a fish AND an otter on his line, the big pike is tired though from fighting the other 2 beasts

William barely catches hold of the rod. The force of the fish's pulling hurts his paws and then there's a flying otter. The rat is forced to let go from the added weight. He's suprised the line hasn't snapped yet from all the strain being put on it.

Aurora giggles at the antics of the fisherbeasts. She sits down on a mossy log and watches them in interest.

Flicktail seems to be a Verminous Fox, among Good beasts..as he fights he falls face first in the mud.

Aikuen has all parts around the pike. He wasn't expecting that. But you do what you do. He holds on for dear life. Keeping his appendages away from the gapping jaws of the monstrosity. Its like a bull at the rodeo. After he knows he got a good hold. He reaches back and grabs his dagger. Plunging it deep in the pikes head.

Aurora laughs quietly at the fox. She then takes out her drawing slate and starts to scribble something down onto it.

Aurora falls off the log in shock at the brutality of the knife.

Flicktail hearsthe commotion as he gets up..his white fur ripping in dark mud "oi...look! we ave been joined by a Pretty Squirrel Gel..." he smiles in a friendly fashion "Ello ere Marm

William turns to look at the fox with his one good eye. "I think you lost Flicky" he says. His stubby ears twitch at the sound of chalk on slate and he glance over at ... a squirrelmaid? A upside down squirrelmaid. "Uh hello there," he calls over walking over to help her up if she'll let him.

Aurora looks shakily from behind the log. When she sees Flicktail waving, she waves back. She graciously accpets William's help up. Her eyes remain constantly on the knife protruding from the pike's head.

Flicktail moves into the water to help pull up the pike... "thatbe quite a Foight!" he smiles snugging Aik "Good think her pups didn't see ya

William leans over to try and see what Aurora's writing but is distracted by the not yet dead pike and the otter. "Need any help Pa?" he asks as the giant fish will need some prep work before it can be cooked.

Aurora finishes writing on her board and holds it out for the fisherbeasts to read. On it is the messsage: "You killed it. Why did you kill it?"

Aikuen chuckles at the snuggle, "Oh why not? I think my daughters would have loved to see me wrastling a pike!" he laughs going to lean down, and pulling out the knife smoothly, "So. Flicky. Ever degutted a fish before?" he aims like is going to spilt the pikes head in half. When the squirrelmaid catches his eye, "Ummm... Hi." to flicky, "When did she get here? Did i miss something?"

Aurora looks around at the fisher beasts, then goes over to William and shows him the board.

William looks at the board and says, "Flicky had it on a line. I imagine he planned t eat it once he caught it cause he was hungry or so it couldn't eat my little sisters and nephew next time they come out here. But to be sure you'd have t ask Flicky yourself." If she doesn't understand him he'll try writing it down for her.

Flicktail smiles "Aikuen..how coudl ya miss somethin with er alrms all full o pike?

Aurora watches William's mouth move, and then taps the side of her head and shrugs. She hands him the board and a peice of chalk.

Aurora reads the board, then nods. She erases William's reply then replies herself; "I was trying." She then looks at William then at Aikuen, and adds "Okay."

Flicktail says, "Oi William....why so Quiet?"

William shoots the fox a dirty look, "I may be wrong but didn't you attend my wedding, Sir? Are you sure you want to continue that song?"

Flicktail chuckles to William "were just a Jest Lad....didn't mean nuttin by it..butintroduce us to is wunnerful gel?

"It wasn't funny," Will mutters silently thankful Amy can't hear them from camp. He writes on the squirrel's slate, "Flicky (the fox) wants to know your name.

Aurora takes the board, reads it, then opens her mouth and makes an odd noise: "Aaauuurruuaa." She then takes the slate and writes down her name in case her voice was indecipherable.

Flicktail smiles and grabs the Pike hauling it off to prepare his special "lemon Pike surprise" meal

Aikuen gets the pike on the head, with or without the foxes help. He makes sure it ain't going anywhere before wiping his slimy and blooded up paws on his tunic. He walks slowly over to where all the commotion is and says, "Hello there young'un" the slate gives him a dejuvu so he looks toward Will. Who seems to be the communicator for her.

Aurora cringes at the sight of the blood on the otter's tunic.

William reads the name off the slate, "Aurora". It's nice to met you Aurora he writes. My name is Will and the otter here is my father Aikuen or Aik (Ike) for short. He glance over at Aik seeing Aurora's aversion to the blood and killing of the pike. "I think she's a woodlander and one with a weak stomach or a reason t not be keen on blood an killing. Of course that covers a lot of reasons. ... Want t say anything to her just write it on her slate."

Aurora replies on her slate: "Nice to meet you too." She sits back down on the log, a bit shakey, but almost recovered from the slaying of the pike.

William laughs and nods translating the otter's words onto the slate: My father took his tunic off so you wont be bothered by the blood on it and says nice to meet you and he's sorry about the pike but it was going to eat the fox. We couldn't let it eat him. He also wants to know where you're from and how you came to be here where we are. Will pausing in his writing then adds: Would you be interested in joining us for a meal?

Aurora reads the board, then shakes her head. She erases the message, the writes; "I can't stay, I need to get back to Redwall. I was out here with a berry picking crew, but they seem to have left without me."

William translates, "She's from Redwall. Got lost while berry picking. Any idea which way th Abbey is from here?"

Aikuen hrms and pulls at his chin before pointing off in a that-a-way direction, "Humdedum... If my navigation is correct. It should be over there... I know we are east of it. So if push comes to shove just go west till you hit the path. Then. A direction from there... Norht er' south." he nods, "And of course you are more then welcome to stay. If you want to rest or something. We can take you to the abbey in due time..." he smiles.

William writes down what Aik has said: "We're East of Redwall so if you go West you should hit the main road sooner or later then go North or South from there to to the Abbey. We're not sure which. And you're more than welcome to stay here if you want to rest a while. We can always take you to the Abbey a little later unless you're in a hurry. Wouldn't want you to get lost on the way back.

Aikuen nods and says, "Watch out for little otters. And good luck on your journey. Well be here if you get lost again" he smiles before going over to the fresh kill of the Pike, as the squirrel maid heads off back into the woods. Aik says, "Come on Willmeboy. Help me clean this thing for flicky." who is still making the preparation for the fish.

William waves as the squirrel leaves then nods to Aik. "Alright. Where do we start?" He ask looking the fish up and down.
