Redwall Abbey main gate

DoraRose is sitting at the well-secured gate, leaning up against the wood as she has a good cry. She heard what the wildcat said, and her worry for Xander just escalates her crying. All of the guards are giving her plenty of space, not wanting her to, like, hit them or anything. She has her axe and sling beside her only because the guards are too skeered to come get it from her now that the crisis is over (and she's a bit distracted at the moment; she is planning on putting it away). She has been known to bite people on rare occasions, and her teeth are surprisingly sharp.....

John shrugs. "Not like I have anything with me to go after them with." he mutters, watching the wildcat and his minions leave, falling quiet, thinking. The squirrel seems far more somber and withdrawn than he was moments ago, and, nodding to the guards, he goes to head down the stairs himself. He glances at Dorarose, stopping to stand a bit away from her. He starts to say something, but stops, thinking better of it. Instead he looks at the champion for help. The other squirrel probably knows how to deal with the creatures here better than John does.

That's where you're wrong, John. Magramba glances over at Dora, then to John, then back to Dora, then back to John, then keeps walking towards the main building. Leon can deal with that.

John shoulders fall for a moment as Magramba keeps walking. He sighs, after a moment, muttering something darkly under his breath, before moving a bit closer to the mouse- though still faraway enough to be out of range of biting. "Would it make y'feel any better if we actually did something about th' fool?" he asks, simply.

DoraRose looks up at the squirrel. Sniffng and wiping her eyes, she shrugs. "No....well, maybe. I.....Scioto is...../was/ my friend....it's a sh....shock......I feel so sorry for poor Blisa......I'm not sure she can handle it very well....." She looks down at her axe as she strokes its shaft. "And you can bet that if I ever meet Zurrgg, his head will be mine." Oh, yeah, did I mention yet that she's angry? 'Cause, whoo, boy, is she mad.....

"Y'know, when it comes to Zurrgg's head," John says with a slight grin, trying to lighten the mood, "I think there's a line for it. I imagine he's ticked quite a few beasts off now, and from what I've seen of Blisa, she'll probably be the one to get him first." Sighing again, he sits down nearby. "She's strong. Well, stronger than most."

DoraRose shakes her head. "I dunno. I hope so." Smiling slightly, she adds, "And with that snake of hers, everybeast will be....persuaded to let her go first, I'll wager." The squirrel succeeded in making the conversation morbidly lighter in tone. Good for him! The mouse sighs and rests her head against the rough wood of the gates. "And just when I was thinking we'd have a time of peace...."

John, shrugging, says, "Well, peace lasts only so long as folks are willing to have it." He leans his head back against the stone wall, closing his eyes. "But I think it'll be over sometime - and we'll be winning, like usual... The amount of 'evil' beasts about in the past seasons blows my mind. And they always fail, in the end." He opens one eye. "And I'll be th' first in line to leap off a cliff if a fool like Zurrgg'll be the one to finally manage it."

DoraRose smiles wanly. "And I'll be right behind you." Staring up at the sky, she takes in a shuddering breath. Opening her mouth to say something, she then closes it again as tears sting her eyes again, but so far they are kept under control...

John nods, once. "Right then. Let's not let us eat our words, then, eh?" He sits up a bit straighter. "If we get a small band together o' fighting beasts, an' kill Zurrgg and his second-in-commands, /if/ he has those, the rest o' the lot may fall into line. After all," Again he shrugs. "A snake without a head isn't the most useful thing out there."

DoraRose grins a little now, and squeezes her axe shaft. "No, it's not. If they were able to get Blisa out of there in time, I'm sure her bodyguards, and even Blisa herself, will be more than willing to help us." She pokes at her thigh. "I'm not fully healed yet from the battle at Camp Willow, but I refuse to let the murderer of my friend get away. Not while I can still walk!" Barely. She can barely walk without a crutch. It's probably a very good thing that Angela is not out here right now; she would throw a /fit/. "I'm not good at strategy and planning; do you have any ideas? The only one I can come up with is seeing if my daughter's Sparra friend could try to search the woodlands and see if he can find Blisa and her group of bodyguards."

"I'm decent at strategy - better as a tactician. Though," John says, thinking, "I can say scouts are always good; the bird'll be helpful, fo'sure." He's quite for a minute or so, tapping his leg. "I never got the note about the camp battle, so I'm perfectly fit - well, mostly. I could probably find Zurrgg rather quickly in the woods, and use my crossbow..." He trails off, thinking once more. "If we could somehow lure him into a trap with more of our beasts than his, well, I imagine it'll be over quick - especially if everybeast uses bows or slings. Have yet t' see a creature get up from having ten or so arrows stuck in 'em."

DoraRose smiles grimly, then scowls. "I could never figure out bows....although a crossbow might be good.....I could be the bait," she adds, warming to the idea. "Or something. I'll make sure to ask Butterclaw as soon as I see him to go scouting for us. He's a good sport, I'm sure he'll yes." She stands and extends a paw. "I'll go find him now. Lemme know if you find any volunteers." And then she's off to put her weapons away and find the sparrow....
