Dealing With A Hedgehog
FV: Chieftain’s Home: Main Room (#225423R)
The inside of the home is large; a door leads to the sleeping quarters and another to a kitchen area. This room has a large window looking outside with nice navy blue curtains on it. The floor is wooden and a large fireplace keeps the room warm in those cold months. Above the fireplace is a large painting of the Chieftain and his mate. In the room also is a table and a few chairs to sit in.A large bookcase is by a far wall with many books of all kinds on it.
Exits: [Bed]room, [K]itchen, [B]ack
Scioto is relaxing at home as he can do at times; he sits on a soft chair in the room and sips some strong ale as he looks at two beasts in his living room.
Anise folds his arms over his chest, “I hired the rat to find the hedgehog, that hedgehog killed my mate and she did nothing to him."
Shaz nods “Is true chieftain, this hedgehog did this deed, and needs to be found, do you not agree?"
Scioto is listening, "I do agree and I was told he killed Tabatha, found out from Anise and I am sorry for the loss, I try to get along with woodlanders, I do not always, but this...this will not go unpunished."
Shaz says, "I heard he was attacked, the hedgehog that is by ferrets."
Anise glares, "S..She wouldn’t attack anyone and neither would I, most likely some random robber group on the road, highly uncalled for."
Scioto nods "Any idea where he is now?"
Shaz answers, "I found out he had been at de abbey, I let them know to hand him over if was there, not sure he be there or not, may of left"
Anise says, "Well he needs found and slayed"
Scioto ears go back, "I am truly unsure what to do, I have a peace treaty with the abbey, but if they are keeping the hedgehog there and refuses to turn him over to me..or you, then...well it could weaken my thoughts on the treaty, but I would hope they are wise in what they decide, if the hedgehog is outside the abbey, then it matters not their feelings."
Shaz nods "He seems to not be an abbey dweller, more a visitor."
Anise lets loose a growl, "Don’t care what he is!!" He looks at Shaz, “I hired you to track him down, even kill him if comes to it...you’re an assassin right?"
Shaz nods "Yesss I am that, I can kill him or bring him back here alive to be dealed with, depends..I do sometimes give chance to surrender, other times none. Depends on danger of one I seek"
Scioto looks between them, "Well Shaz is free to do as he wishes, what he sees fit, I do want keep updated on what happens with this."
Anise stands up "This beast killed my mate! If the rat doesn’t find him I will!"
Shaz grins, "I will find him, not to worry I get job, I not stop till job complete."
Anise nods "Good"
Scioto speaks, "Just be careful in what you do"
Mossflower - Dirt Road -------------------------
The sun's glow lights the road, and the warm air of summer envelopes
every beast like a gentle blanket, creating a slight haze around each
object. Stretching to the north and south, the road dominates the
landscape. Hard-packed dirt is laced with ruts and stray rocks scattered
upon the ground, as well as a few stray clumps of browned grass. To the
east, a building stands, simple in design but obviously a frequently
visited location. The path leading to the door of the structure is
often-trod, and countless footpaws have left their mark in the dirt.
Trees line either side of the road, though not as thickly as they do
farther north, and the road lies bare and open to the sunlight.
Exits: The [B]lack [G]ull [T]avern, [S]outh, [N]orth
The day is calm and cold for its winter, it’s cloudy but no snow is falling just yet.
Shaz is scanning the road for any signs of the rouge hedgehog, his hood up as he walks.
Rafe is off to the side, standing off the road, not the best seeing as it’s outside the Black Gull and he is arguing with a weasel.
Shaz watches the hedgehog and selects an arrow, he fires it off, mainly a warning shot.
Rafe blinks as the arrow hits the neck of the beast that was arguing with him and turns to see Shaz and snorts.
Scioto has followed Shaz to see what is going on and curious to see this hedgehog himself.
Shaz grins, "You be hedgehog that kill ferret?"
Rafe studies Shaz, “What if I am, she was a vermin...one less around now"
Shaz spins his throwing dagger, “Her mate not happy with you, and not thinking chieftain being happen either"
Rafe shrugs, "So..All you Ferravale types should die or leave the area"
Scioto walks over, "Ferravale should what hedgehog?" , He has yet to draw his weapon.
Shaz narrows his eyes but waits to do anything.
Rafe says, "I have a name, its Rafe by de way feline."
Scioto takes a deep breath “Well then Rafe, you’re coming with me or you can fight Shaz, your choice"
Firelight walks down the road seeing the beasts and frowns as she has just walked into this chat, "What wrong with Ferravale beasts?” She asks, “I live there.”
Shaz speaks, “Time to go back home then.”
Scioto nods “Yes not a place for a young one"
Rafe snorts and says, "Your vermin and should die" He smirks, “Starting with you, or not seeing as de ferret died first!” He gets his weapon and for one his age he has his moments of quickness and stabs at the rat maid.
Firelight blinks and goes to back up, she screams as the blade cuts long and deep across her chest and she is hurt...bad.
Shaz growls and slashes at Rafe, “You should die for tat one"
Scioto goes to block any more moves towards the rat maid.
Rafe glares and goes to slam his side into Scioto, to push the cat away.
Firelight blood coats the ground, making it red against the white, she closes her eyes and takes her last breath.
Scioto checks the rat maid for a pulse and frowns, he then draws his blade now and goes knocks Rafe to the edge of the ditch just as quills get in his arm, he growls and claws at Rafe.
Shaz slashes at Ralf’s side and flicks his wrist letting a dagger fly.
Rafe gets a cut on his lower leg and barely sidesteps the dagger that goes into a tree.
Scioto watches the two fights and for now stays off to the side trying to get the two quills out of his arm.
Rafe slashes at the rat with his blade and almost loses his balance on the ice.
Shaz gets a pink mark on his wrist, he backs up and draws out another dagger.
Scioto hisses as quills are in his arm and glares at Rafe.
Rafe chuckles and smirks, “Stupid feline!”
Shaz goes to sweep at the hedgehog’s legs and gets his larger blade.
Rafe whoa and falls backwards onto his back and coughs a little as it jolts him some.
Shaz lays the sword at Rafe’s neck and glares at him.
Rafe pants as he lays there quiet, he frowns,"I..Surrender...already."
Shaz keeps the sword at the hedgehogs throat, "Please...I like to shut im' up...permit."
Scioto hisses, his ears back and a couple quills in his arm.
Flicktail walks down the road, hurrying along, Sword sheathed As he comes on the scene, he approaches more slowly and openly, "Chieftain? May I approach? Before I do know I have no authority ere, I ask only as a friend and I hope as a good beast...That Hedgehog is Rafe, and no matter wot he has done, he is me friend. Not saying I am here to free him...just saying...ya know?”
Rafe lies on the road, sword at his throat and cuts to his arms and legs, he glares and then sees Flicktail,"Oh..great another vermin."
Shaz looks over at the fox and back to Rafe, “Hedgehog be killer...needs death"
Scioto glances at Flicktail, "I am sorry to hear he is a friend Flicktail, he has killed two beasts and fought me and Shaz tonight."
Flicktail asks, "Aye that does not sound good" ,He looks at Rafe "You need to be quiet now". Flicktail looks first at Shaz, "I have asked about you, have you not killed beasts for money?" , Still being respectful he looks at Scioto, "With respect Chieftain, may I ask who witnessed the killing? This beast also has saved lived, and I am a witness to it"
Shaz nods "Yes I kill for coins, I get paid fer this one"
Scioto answers, "He just killed the rat maid and another saw him kill the ferret"
Rafe just glares at all of them ad mutters to himself.
Flicktail says, "Again if I may ask so I understand.....Were the rat maid and ferret attacking him? or was he just cold blooded? I trust yer word Chieftain"
Scioto says, "The rat maid showed up when he was here, he attacked her"
Rafe snorts, "Cause she is a vermin, ya all vermin!!"
Shaz pushes the blade just enough to get a thin line of blood on the neck, "Quiet...", He hisses..
Flicktail says, "And she fought back..it was unprovoked?" He signs sadly, "Rafe..I am still yer friend, and I will help you in any way I can, but if you attacked another beast, old as ya are, I have no right to stand in the way o the Chieftain’s judgment...."
Scioto shakes his head, “Somewhat, not really old enough to fight well, still somewhat young but not a dibbun"
Rafe glares at Shaz but is quiet now.
Flicktail looks to Shaz, "I am sorry we are enemies. I wish I could do something so we are not....Oakenpaw speaks well of you...though if you kill this old beast I think it would...Disappoint Oakenpaw”
Shaz glares back, he does nothing yet, still looking at Rafe he speaks with Flicktail, “I take job seriously if hare not like me now so be that."
Scioto watches the others silent, he hisses again as he gets the two quills slowly out of his arm.
Flicktail asks, "To Kill Mr. Shaz? or capture..I think our friend would understand capture, but killing this old one would not give you much reputation"
Shaz says, "I have killed many, not many care...if I not kill him, mate of ferret might"
Rafe snorts, his cuts bleed and a small trickle of blood his neck now.
Scioto rubs his arm and puts his blade away.
Flicktail says, "Well Chieftain wot will ya do, he is an old beast, and wot ever it is, it should not be cruel...that cold rode will hurt is old bones...."
Shaz says, "Not be up to Chieftain what happens"
Rafe closes his eyes and just seems to wait, for whatever will happen.
Scioto looks between them as he rubs his arm, he shakes his head slowly.
Flicktail asks, "Is that true Scioto? it is not your decision?"
Scioto says, "Shaz is not a village member yet"
Flicktail asks, "Is that true Scioto? it is not your decision?"
Shaz presses the sword closer to the hedgehog neck, “Final words?"
Flicktail says, "Please Shaz..may I ask who purchased yer service, and if there is any way I may ransom this beast from you?"
Rafe opens his eyes, “None fer you vermin."
Shaz eyes narrow, "Then...die..", He looks at Flicktail, "Anise...is one who paid me..." He growls, yeah he wants death basically.
Scioto sighs, "Shaz speaks the truth, he was in my home earlier...a spice beast in Ferravale"
Shaz growls, he slips out a knock out dagger and jabs it in the hedgehog's arm, he hisses, “Beast have 2 days....he comes with me."
Flicktail says, "Will you allow me to at least Speak to Anise...You get paid either way...."
Rafe tenses up then slips into a deep troubled sleep. Hey he is alive...for now.
Shaz says, "That up to him, not me"
Scioto looks at them both, his ears go back but he doesn’t interrupt them.
Flicktail asks, "Well where do I find im? Mr. Shaz I am not preventing you from doing wot ya was hired...please help me?"
Shaz says, "In Ferravale at de tavern or spice place...ask Scioto...I go now" He picks up the hedgehog and places him on his shoulders, "And follow before 2 days, he die...I meet you At abbey gates then or elsewhere, you choose.."
Flicktail looks at Scioto, "Meet me at abbey gates? why?”
Scioto says, "Think he ment meet him there in couple days"
Flicktail asks, "At the abbey?"
Scioto shrugs, "I do not control what Shaz does, he is an assassin and not one of my guards or under my rules, and he behaves in the tavern well enough"
Flicktail says, "I just wish I knew....Rafe has attacked beasts..but I have never seen him kill without reason....if he did. Then I can be of no help to him"
Scioto says, "I know the rat maid did nothing, I do not know of the ferret, I was not there for that, the rat maid was shorty before you came along"
Flicktail says, "And he just...killed her? in cold blood?"
Scioto frowns, "Yes...he did, and I am sorry to say it caused me to draw my sword on him and I did injure his arm...Shaz attacked him fiercely and got him knocked down about to slice his throat and then you came along."
Flicktail says, "if..he killed her like that, then we cannot have a beast running around like that" He says sadly, his ears and tail drooping.
Scioto is serious,"Flicktail..I try my best to get along with woodlanders, but he is testing that and I was even asked why to still have a peace treaty with the abbey, I still have it for now."
Flicktail says, "I am agreeing with you Chieftain, If Rafe killed not in defense, I will not come to is aide"
Scioto nods "Good, I need to get back to the village. If the hedgehog dies do not start disliking my village please"
Flicktail says, "I would not chieftain, that is why I told you, wot you decide is just and I trust yer judgment"
Scioto nods, he heads to the village.
